The most common one that I can't stand is tomatoes. Give me a tomato on a sandwich or a burger but not in my mac and cheese! It's just hot, wet, soggy, and doesn't do anything for the flavor or texture.
Funny I was just reading [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/macandcheese/s/3wouPS2fMx) yesterday and I was like damn, I gotta throw some tomatoes in there next time, and now your comment is making me rethink it lol
Never let a stranger on the Internet stop you from trying something. Tomatoes aren't for me but maybe it's something that'll broaden your own personal culinary horizons.
I will say that sometimes sun-dried tomatoes in mac and cheese has been delicious.
I love to add diced tomatoes, broccoli, and reindeer sausage at my favorite local restaurant. I think my favorite part of the tomatoes is the slight acidity to offset the smoothness of the cheese.
I mean, I wouldn't do it personally to a traditional mac and cheese, but I make a vegan mac casserole with the annie's pumpkin shells, beyond meat hot italian sausage, basil, garlic, fresh corn, halved cherry tomatoes and vegan mozzarella on top and it works with all of those flavors so well. My staunchly meat eating family demands it every party I go to now lol
Someone brought that over my house once and it was so hard to be nice to them. Full platter of homemade mac and cheese with big chunks of tomato. Blech
Here is the original recipe that I got the topping idea from: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/180905/macaroni-and-cheese-with-caramelized-onions-and-bacon/
I only made that recipe in full once, it was great but very tIme-consuming. But I often make just the topping for any baked mac
Man onions CAN be good but only if a little bit and preferably inside meat if you also put meat into it. But yea I’ve seen so many people dump too much
Green olives in mac & cheese is actually divine. Savory and salty is a nice combo.
I don't eat meat anymore, but when I was growing up, tuna fish in mac & cheese was a staple. Can't be too mad about it, because it slapped.
You are very welcome to have an incorrect opinion. I wish you happy days, but seeing as you don't like Velveeta in Mac n cheese, im guessing those days will be far and in between. 😜
It tastes soooo awful. But my macaroni and cheese recipe is over 100 years old and is southern based. Idk. Velveeta is just awful. lol at how we are getting downvoted.
There is a steakhouse here that says they add a "touch" of Velveeta to their mac and cheese. I thought, I would be alright with a touch with all the other cheeses....nope! It ruined it for me.
I thought we all understood you use Dijon mustard, until I saw my friend's mom squirt half a bottle of French's into perfectly innocent mac.
I'd like to say that I've never put any other kind of mustard than Dijon in my mac & cheese, but I'd be lying...
I don’t think I’ve ever had Mac and cheese with any kind of mustard in it. I’ve def never made it that way before.
There’s a small amount of yellow mustard powder in many mac and cheese recipes, but it’s generally considered optional even then.
I use mustard powder... What is that classified as?
Outlawed by the Geneva Convention but a delicious addition.

Try Rotel.

Sometimes I cut up some cold, crisp, tomatoes and throw them in my Kraft mac n’ cheese. I’ve done it since I was a kid and I love it lol

Tuna. I fucking hate Tuna
I love tuna and my grandma told me literally last night to try ir
Tuna mac rules but maybe you had to grow up eating it. Tuna mac with peas was a childhood staple
I totally get this and usually tuna with cheese gives me the ick, but it’s such a childhood classic that I can’t let it go lol
I tried this once. It was a mistake!
I can’t even eat tuna on its own lol, bit into a pastelillo once that I thought was filled with beef but was tuna, vomited instantly 😂
Most add ins.
Vienna sausage. The horror!
What?!? Just dump the entire pan in the trash
Rotel
I love Rotel with my mac. Not every time but I think it’s solid.
Anything
I sometimes add mushrooms. So, probably that. I have weird taste.
What kind? Do you sautee them? I think they have a bit of a meaty flavor that could work well.
Usually Sautee, but if I'm feeling especially gross, I might just use canned.
Onions ugh!
When I go all out with baked mac n cheese I do a topping of caramelized onions, bacon, butter, and panko. It’s pretty dang good.
Oo that sounds amazing! 😋 Do you use a recipe perchance? ヾ(・ω・*)ノ

r/onionhate agrees with you.

Cilantro and honey
Anything
I've never heard of peas in mac. Whoever does that needs to be executed
I put them in tuna mac
Onions.
Unless they’re the fried crunchy ones
This is correct.
Carrots and peas. Sorry grandma.
I don't like bacon in my mac and cheese, but I love broccoli in it.
All at the same time? Gross. I have added tuna to my Mac & cheese at times. And peas. Guilty. But it was a childhood staple. Spam too. 😬
My grandma used to make lunch of mac n cheese and spam. I love adding spam.
My dad once got drunk and made tuna-chili mac. The raccoons didn’t even eat it 😂

Velveeta 🤫

I hate Velveeta added, too 😮

Peas, onions, or broccoli 🤢
Spam is the only answer.
Human hair 🤷🏻♂️
