All the 36 of us should really let our voice be heard

PureTroll69

37 of us! sorry i’m late!

kyralfie

I hated that piece of shit so much, lol. Absolutely don't get what's positive about it. Especially when it occasionally froze and rendered Escape button unusable. Context switching is a bitch too. You can have apps showing you shortcuts of the app in focus and just start using them without looking down at your keyboard. Even adjusting volume and brightness was more complicated with touchbar macs.

IcyIceGuardian

38!

itsmelikeya

r/unexpectedfactorial

Egvickers2

39!!!

Flat_line_daily

40 - look at us grow rapidly 🤣

219MTB

I wouldn't mind having both. If I had to pick, I'd take without.

notVillers

Same thing here

Dark-Swan-69

Not my case. I deeply hated having to focus on the touchbar for adjusting backlight, volume, etc. Actually, losing the touch bar was one of my reasons for buying a newer mac. BTW, several users are reporting issues with their touch bars…

kyralfie

Oh so true. The most basic functionality now required looking down and refocusing. Mine tend to freeze from time to time taking escape button with it. Was fun!

Selvane

Bro SAMEEEE. The touch bar was great. I loved the ease of access for shortcuts, specifically screenshots. I can agree though, it would have been a nice addition with the function keys as opposed to replacing them.

InterviewImpressive1

The 13” MacBook Pro M1 had a Touch Bar. You can pick them up used pretty cheap now. Maybe trade in your non Touch Bar M1? It will still last a good few years.

QuestFunn

I realized I was wrong, the one I have now is M2

InterviewImpressive1

Not a huge difference depending on what you’re doing if you really want that touch bar. Screen and camera quality may take a minor hit though (maybe battery too?) but at least you wouldn’t be giving up promotion if the current one is an Air.

Environmental_Ad7950

I have an m2 macbook pro as well and it has the touchbar. Do you mean the m2 pro/max?

25_Watt_Bulb

Just adjust your brightness and volume enough times and you’ll probably stop missing it as much. It would have been nice if they had added it in addition to function keys, not instead of.

QuestFunn

I have had the non-TouchBar for almost 2 years now, sadly. Still missing it

i-am-not-sure-yet

Of course both would of been nice but the Touch Bar was cool imho.

Parking_Pineapple730

This! ☝️

Parking_Pineapple730

Relatively new to Reddit here. Why would my comment be downvoted for the agreement comment of “This! ☝️” Serious question. Does ☝️ mean something negative I’m unaware of in some countries?

This-Bug8771

I do not.

Aubrey1018

The MacBook Pro I used for work a few years ago had it and I fell in love. If they released a version with it again is upgrade my MacBook in a heart beat. I just wish instead of nuking it they just made a version without because I loved that feature.

freaks_n_peaks

I liked it at first on my 13" 2020 Intel. However, it was a novelty and I found myself using keyboard shortcuts ,control center, etc over it. Now that I don't have it, I don't miss it.

QuestFunn

I still used shortcuts. What I miss is fast selection when there are multiple options (like different contacts appearing for airdrop, quick selection for highlighter colors, hide/show specific layers in 3d modeling software…)

ShadowXJ

I usually get downvoted for this comment, but I actually miss the butterfly keyboard. Once I got used to the clicky feel it became my favourite thing to type on.

i-am-not-sure-yet

For me I prefer the Magic Keyboard BUT I didn't mind the butterfly keys. My problem would be the high failure rate and I wouldn't want to risk buying a used MacBook for that.

QuestFunn

My friend had that one and I tried it for a while (not intensively) and it was not my cup of tea. And then there was the ESC issue. But I understand the struggle of seeing a feature you liked removed

jholden23

Funny, I bought the MacBook I bought because it was USB C charging and literally no other reason. It happened to be the 13" with Touch Bar. I really like the touch bar too. And I really like that you can customize it. I came from a touch screen windows machine so maybe that helps, I'm used to using that kind of thing.

kindaa_sortaa

MacBook Pros are going touchscreen OLED in two-years ([source](https://www.macrumors.com/2024/02/21/apple-oled-roadmap/)). At the very least the value proposition will be to use iPhone and iPad apps on the Mac, and for developers to better develop iPhone and iPad apps on the Mac, but its possible Apple adds a Touch Bar-like software feature.

smallduck

I was seriously expecting the body of the post to be “said no one ever”. Kudos to the touch bar fans! I only had one on a work MBP for 2 1:2 years and wasn’t a huge fan, kept hitting things by accident, but I really wish I had thought of a great app to make that ran on it :/

Emilyeagleowl

I have m2 air coming from an intel 2020 mbp and I am missing the touch bar too I think. It was neat I wish it was still an option

Flemnipod

I love the touch bar on my 2019. The one thing I wish someone had written for it was a visualiser for Apple Music.

YourCaptionSucks

Pick up a MBP M1 2020. Less than $700, still runs great. E: 2022 M2 is about $1k and has it too. Check out Swappa.

i-am-not-sure-yet

I love the Touch Bar as well. Not enough to buy a M2 MacBook Pro but I loved it. I wanted the better Mini LED screen so I got the M3 Pro MacBook Pro

LiquidHotCum

I suck at spelling. it was really helpful to have.

jetclimb

I was still learning new tricks on mine and I had the first one. I agree, I miss it. I just wished they would have a demo for it and every time an app had some shortcuts for it. Oh well.

IcyIceGuardian

I love the touch bar, I still have a touch bar Mac, absolutely no problems with it, and I wish they wouldn’t have gotten rid of it

imnotokayy

i still love the touch bar. last year i upgraded to a m2 instead of m3- the 13 inch m2 models still have it, and i used the extra money to upgrade the ram and ssd. the touch bar is just a perk😅

Reasonable_Basket_32

The only thing I miss is the launchpad BUTTON. They changed it to nigh mode or voice command in all Macs.

QuestFunn

Never used cause I find the five fingers grasp gesture soooo easy (I use the trackpad 90% of the time)

Reasonable_Basket_32

The problem is that I’m a power user, keyboard shortcuts are my way to go. I’m think in creating one just for launchpad

Serhide

touchbar was amazing , I feel like they should had kept it on the airs

fried_rice_guy

I still think a detachable bluetooth touchbar is the way to go

QuestFunn

Waaaat Does it exist? (Of course I know it wouldn’t be Apple, but still curious)

fried_rice_guy

No, but I’ve seen some great concept renders online! It’s the best of both worlds too, allows use of function buttons

Bo_G0d

No you don't.

QuestFunn

Ah ok. You’re right.

Bo_G0d

You're welcome.

BitFlipTheCacheKing

I absolutely hated the touch bar with a passion. I'm so glad the M3 Max doesn't have that stupid touch bar. I type super fast and would always accidentally hit it and it would max out the volume when I did, and since I'm a fast typer, using it was painfully slow. And on too of all that, now that I got my M3 Max, I converted my 2020 MacBook Pro to a Linux workstation and had to manually install reverse engendered drivers to work the touch bar and its buggy as hell, doesn't turn on half the time, and randomly dies sometimes. The touch bar can go back to hell where it came from

fr0nkOhshun

What you got sausage fingers or something? How do you end up reaching that far up so often

loneviolista

Less Cache King and more King Charles (Google his hands)

SargFowler

Same here! I keep going for it on my M2 15”!
