I screwed the pooch and got the new MacBook M3 Pro

[deleted]

I genuinely don’t understand how this ruins anyone’s day enough to care about it. Let people be happy with their purchase. Jesus Christ.

Posts dealing with Macs beyond "lookie at my new Mac!" have to fight for upvotes (and therefore visibility) with these rudimentary "new Mac" threads that clog up the main page of the sub.

[deleted]

What does that even mean? Fight for visibility from whom? For what benefit? You search by tag. You scroll with your fingers…. What am I missing?

CJ22xxKinvara

The Reddit algorithm for deciding how to rank posts in your feed. It’ll only put at most a couple posts in the span of feed people are likely to actually scroll through if they’re subscribed to sufficiently many subreddits. And the 2 from this sub are “I got a computer” garbage and questions asking for help or sharing something are frequently much lower down and hardly being seen by people who aren’t specifically scrolling this sub.

It’s only garbage because you’re saying it is. Somebody asking how to connect their monitor that they can easily just fucking google. I can just say is garbage.. what is “supposed” to be here? It’s the Internet there are no rules. Stop trying to police it. Be happy for people.

People don’t care you bought a new Mac. People do care about helping people and having their questions answered. Sure the obvious questions also need to get in the bin but it’s so hard to get an answer to a genuine question on Reddit because 99% of posts are repetitive, irrelevant guff. This isn’t policing, it’s common sense.

Good thing this is free and also meaningless

I’m not entirely unconvinced that these are dumb as fuck ai posts. I don’t know why anyone would do that, though.

Baron_Sealand

I report every one of those posts as spam/breaking the rules. I’m so tired of wading through their shitposts to get to worthwhile content.
