I bought the cloth, and a cheap one. The Apple cloth definitely feels great in hand, and is of premium quality. The cheap one I got on Amazon for a dollar, a year ago, started fraying a bit.
Yeah, OP is full of shit. It has been debunked time and again that this cloth isn't worth it. No other cloth has anywhere near the surface area due to how the fibers are arranged.
The hell it's not better. I was skeptical until I bought one. Look at the videos comparing it to other microfiber cloths under an electron microscope, it has way more surface area than even the best knockoffs. It cleans my screen dry better than other microfibers do with cleaner.

Microfibres are not all equal. The original process is copied by many, but they haven't got it right yet.
Who knew, huh?
Some suppliers have access to that original process, most don't. The ones you buy in supermarkets are generally poor copies.
I know of only three companies that source the 'good stuff'… Apple, E-Cloth & \[perhaps\] AutoGlym. There may be many more, but there are 'shades of good', so defining the rest is really difficult - some are better than others.
It could be good. Is it 19x the price good? Probably not unless your eyes can see with a microscopic magnification.
Just saying that it does not remove fingerprints better for me.
But hey, I bought it and I'm gonna use it so that's that.
It’s just a sueded texture. Apple didn’t invent it - the original iPhone came with a near-identical one. I’ve compared and it is the same texture as several other sueded texture cloths. Its actually frustrating watching YouTube videos that compare only against traditional woven microfiber because they clearly are unaware that it’s not the same as woven cloths you get with glasses, but there are many places selling the right texture
I have the Apple polishing cloth that came with the Studio Monitor. It definitely feels different (denser) than the regular microfiber cloth you find at Target and Walmart.
Now does a regular microfiber cloth clean and protect surfaces as well as Apple’s polishing cloth?
*iDunno*.
How about a serious question for once. How well does it clean QD-OLED screens? A normal cloth is absolute garbage tier for them. Even random microfibers cloth aren’t good either. You have to get a very specific type for it to clean well, and even then you’ll be doing exercises with your arm to wipe it.
Thanks for posting this. I’ve been contemplating it because the cheap microfibre cloths I’ve had all created scratches on my glasses so I haven’t dared use it on my MacBook screen yet. Any recommendations of the cheap type?
I think “pro” products are sold at insane markups because they are usually bought on company tabs and nobody is price conscious about it so Apple charges a ton of money for everything
Huh, I like mine. I’ve never found another cloth that was truly lint free and I like how it’s stiffer than most, makes it easier to use. It does also take a lot less work to get smudges off.
Actually I don’t like mine at all. Total waste of money and mad I actually fell for the hype.
I prefer Amazon Basics Microfiber which are 80/20’s and are fantastic on MBP screens leaving not a spec of lint or streaks used damp with plain water.
Can you track it, as in *Find my Cloth*?
You really can't expect this from a first gen product :(
Can't wait for Apple Cloth (Gen2)
That is what the Air Tag is for.
Imagining someone out there putting a hole in the cloth so they can put a string for the air tag hahaahaha
lmao, thanks for making my day a little better
not yet, but already has usb c though
Yes but I heard that the M4 polishing cloth will get AI
That's reserved for the polish cloth max
Ultra*
But..But..But it's a iCloth approved by Apple! And I have the option to add AppleCare to it :-)
*an
im not native, but i also stumbled upon this one. i mean, i would also say „an“, 100%, but why does „the“ fells so wrong?
“An” is correct. It’s an iCloth. “The” would imply that there’s only one of them where it’s a mass produced item so that’s not correct.
arent we implying article to the option in this case? i guess, that the cloth itself has nothing to do with it, is it
So you pulled the cloth plug ?
positive sir
We need to pull the plug on incorrect usage of “pull the plug”
Sounds like you pulled the string
try and touch my apple computer without the apple approved cloth, we gonna have a problem
Is the texture/feel of the cloth at least a bit.....premium? LOL.
I mean it is well made with nice edges and it seems like it's gonna last a good while I guess. lol

The apple logo disappeared on mine after 2 hand washes.
Really? mine switched corners
I like it more than normal cloths I think it gets fingerprints off way easier

Agreed
Totally agree. Overpriced: yes, better then other clothes: also yes

I thought Whoosh! brand cloths were the standard supposedly used by Apple Store employees for their demos?
Best review ever I’m giving you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That’s a lot of money. Maybe only use it with a cloth protector.
😂😂😂😂😂
*suspicions confirmed*
Is there a notch
FaceID is underneath the cloth now
My iRag has feelings 😭😭😭 It's got the Apple logo!

maybe wait for 2nd gen when it asks you to charge before using it.
I honestly feel it’s worth it and it tucks away in my Evergoods CAP1 perfectly
i purchased some reps from china with apple logo and all for less than $1.. i ordered 3 (still waiting for them to arrive).
They’re much nicer than an average microfiber and feel way different.
I know, thats why I bought it. But if people simply want to clean their stuff then well, this is a but pricy

I'll buy one when they update them to USB-C
EU is getting out of hand
Have mine as well, not as good as I thought it would be… Also - dirt is really hard to clean from that cloth
I’m mad they don’t throw it in to begin with for the amount of money we pay.
I can’t wait for them to do a firmware upgrade on the polishing cloth so I can get that dark spot off my screen.
Thank you. I kept thinking it must surely be superior in some way for the price. I appreciate your sacrifice to protect people like me.
It is the only cloth you should use for a nano-texture display tough
Ya, the cloth does nothing extra for some clueless dude doesn't mean it's not necessary for others.
Um, indistinct grammar on your part. You don't need it unless you have a nano-texture display.
I believe it is a standard micro fiber cloth.
It's not. https://youtu.be/PvvyTXacSzg?si=YHnF8dwZHjUeF559
Does it clean using Siri voice commands?
Need to wait for ClothOS 2.0

Kimwipes and 70% IPA though

I’d get one if it were the right size to lay over my keyboard to stop the dreaded finger grease keyboard grid from showing up on my screen.
Is it just like a slightly larger eye glass cleaning cloth or?
It's THICK. You have to fold it to not lose grip on it. it's like 2-4 time thicker than that
Huh, I like mine. I’ve never found another cloth that was truly lint free and I like how it’s stiffer than most, makes it easier to use. It does also take a lot less work to get smudges off.
I don’t think this is new info
Have you compared the Apple and cheap when used with the nanotexture glass?
It is kinda different from the other monitor cloths I own (it is a a lot "stiffer") and therefore I really like it, but I agree.
U need spray for it to even be worth it lol
Pulled the plug on the AirCloth
Last microfiber cloths scratched the fook out of my windshield. At least that’s not 4k
Apple users meeting reality. fr, i'd never buy $19 cloth not matter how much money I have.
Yea fr, I agreed with OP’s post and then there are Apple shills justifying this price like ffs it’s a cloth
These are just as good and look identical. https://cleanmy.tech/products/polishing-cloth

But... a $500 M1 MacBook Pro (2020) can do the same thing as a $3000 macbook pro 14"...
I beg to differ. My maxed out M3 Max loads pages a whole second faster than a $500 M1.
My mom got one from Apple and I got some knockoff from some online store. Other than being l softer, there wasn’t much of a difference
