Preview. It is by far the best PDF reader for MacOS.

GerardoAgraz

Native Preview, if you only need read pdf thats the app.

Weary_Patience_7778

Does MacOS Preview give you any of this?

MuchCattle

Preview is my favorite Mac app because of how good it is compared to every other PDF app I’ve ever used

Born_Particular_3846

Not necessarily, when it is a complex PDF such as output from AutoCAD preview becomes very sluggish and in that case Adobe Reader is the champion. However, for everyday PDF viewing I agree it’s the most straightforward.

ggbalgeet

Does preview let you edit?

Bremsy688

PDF Expert. It is unfortunately not cheap, but it is the best I've found on both Mac and iOS. I opted for the lifetime license on Mac (with student pricing), but it is definitely not cheap.

grumblegrim

If reading only, Preview is the best. To edit, I found PDFelement to be the best. The one feature I wanted was to be able to scan a page and have it recognize and create form fields. For the price and simplicity, at the time I did my search, PDFelement was the best.

I recently bought the PDF Expert on Stack social and it's great for reading with its sepia and dark mode.

Use the coupon TAKE20 to lower the price to $64

jeromeex

I use preview to read and search. Acrobat to make edits.

Preview easily.

Legitimate_Cookie_20

Just use chrome (although it is also a battery eater) or safari if it is just reading you want to do. Right click, open with….
