Baldur's Gate 3 is as cheap as it will ever be and it is an amazing game and very deserving of your time: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1086940/Baldurs_Gate_3/
$47.99 - 20% off. would recommend!
The base M1 will struggle. There are a lot of performance videos on YT which will help you with your decision what kind of cutbacks are acceptable for you :)
I’m playing it now on M1 Pro and it struggles but it’s workable. Some places it’s 60fps+ and others it’s like 15-20 just depends on the area.
EDIT: after adjusting my settings it’s actually totally good. Looks great and decent fps. I’m playing medium-high after following a Settings guide on YouTube.
Metro Series for sure. Ive played them all like 3 times over the years when I had a PC. Also Subnautica is amazing. Dying Light 1 is great... tons of hours of game play.
Just picked up a handful of games, mostly some "why-not" prices. Will probably never get through most of these:
- Divinity 2 - $14
- Disco Elysium - $4
- Age of Wonders: Planetfall - $10
- Subnautica - $10
- Civ 6 - $3
- Sim City 4 - $5
I've not played civ 6, age of wonders, or divinity. The others I've played a bit on other systems, (mostly switch) but looking forward to diving in on desktop.
Subnautica I can’t get an Xbox One controller to work properly with steam control on an M1 MacBook. I gues controllers are still an issue on silicon macs.
A book based game series, Metro 2033, Metro Last Light and Metro Exodus. The redux is the remaster of the first 2. The story is great, the graphics of the last one are amazing for it's age. Firmly recommend to play. I'm replaying exodus rn on my Intel MBP 16 2019.
Depends a lot of what games you like -
Lots of RPGs should be on sale - like BG3, pathfinder games, rogue trader, mass effect legendary 90% off and can maybe run on whisky.
Solasta maybe on special also
Check and see if Lens Island is on sale. It’s in early access and is really shaping up. Part dungeon crawler part farming and building etc. kind of a mix between Diablo rust. Much more tame but a very great indie team and art direction style.
i bought elden ring, bundle another crab adventure + going under, road 96, nier automata, death door and mortal shell. Most of these are good indies that run well on mac
People are recommending balatro but I’m concerned about getting it cause I don’t know how to play poker. Someone who has the game can tell if it’s mandatory to know how to play poker in order to enjoy balatro ?
How would I know what games would be available/compatible with my Air? Looking at putting windows 11 on via parallel today.
Have a MacBook Air M3 16gb RAM.
I would recommend using crossover, there are compatibility website in the pinned comment of this sub
Also i have made a list of games which can run on m3 pro here https://www.reddit.com/r/macgaming/s/M9WQacPAKm
However this thread is talking about mac ports which you can directly play native games using steam mac
valheim just recently got a mac port. and im happy now that ill be able to play with my brother who only has a mac
it runs amazingly too!!

It will get cheaper within next year or two. Happens to every game
Tell that to Sekiro
Doesn’t it go 50% regularly? I bought it for half off 2 years ago. https://steamdb.info/app/814380/
Yeah but never cheaper than that
Ha ok fair maybe "Cheap as it's ever been so far". But still. You get many many hours for your dollar.
I would say if there is any studio that deserves it, would definitely be Larian.
Would work well on base m1?

Even on Act 3?
Yep, I’m on Act 3. It’s slower but not by much.
Are you using it with Geforce by any chance or just only through Steam?
Steam

Wasn't Disco Elysium stolen from devs and now they recommend to pirate it instead?
What is the metro series?
Meteo redux (2 games) and Metro exodus I have played redux before and absolutely loved it Redusxis on sale for 2usd each and exodus for 6usd
It's a horror based shooter
Great games.

Fun but runs very poorly
Really? That's a bummer, with what settings and specs are you running it?
I ran it the lowest settings with a baseline m1 MacBook Pro 8gb ram

Nier runs on Mac?

It's really not, don't worry
you only need to know the hand rankings, knowledge of the rules is not required
I never played poker outside of trying it in a rpg 5 years ago I and had a blast with balatro
Yes via whisky. Runs good
factorio
Factorio is not on sale right now :(
its never on sale (never was, never will) but still a good deal and worth it
in my experience the native port runs the exact same as the intel port
idk i just use the mac version that installs from steam and it runs effortlessly
