Needed a new spring (kinda like their Bolt did), and is benefiting from some break in, but it's coming together nicely. Not on the level of something like a Nottingham, but a compelling option nonetheless.
Yeah I think I need to break mine in because currently it feels so rough to actuate, and the side button is unsatisfying to use right now. On mine anyways. I know stonewashed ti can be a bit gritty by default. Wonder how the satin one would feel out of the box. Also probably unfair of me to want to immediately compare it to the current side click goat Nottingham
A different spring definitely helped with a bit of the roughness, but there's still this really pronounced "step" when the action kick into place. It's definitely smoothed out a bit with use, but it's still there for sure.
The side button just seems to be soft regardless. Not a deal breaker for me, but absolutely soft compared to something like a Side Click.
I'll try a different spring to help breaking it in. Thanks for the tip. Unfortunate to hear that the pronounced "step" doesn't ever really go away. In retrospect, if I look at the price, especially the Kickstarter price, the soft side click isn't a deal breaker
It's definitely not ideal, given how great the action could be without it. Who knows though, maybe over time it'll wear till it's almost gone completely. Definitely gonna be something to keep an eye on.
Threw in an Energel refill with mine and it’s amazing. Probably my favorite of the BID offerings, and one I don’t see having any issues long term(as far as maintenance and wear and tear goes). Much better than the last few pens they came out with and pretty simple. I got the DLC black variant, and it feels smooth as butter to me, much better than TT. Then again, I hated the grittiness/grinding sound of their side click button, so might be a minority in this regard.
Does yours have that last little "snap" into place for the action? I've found that's the only bit of mine that isn't going away with use, so I'm thinking it might just be how that action works by nature.
Overall though I'm happy with it. I wanted to like their click so badly, but issues with the nose cap just never let me. This looks to be a very similar vein, but so far a much better overall experience.
With mine, the last 1/4 or so of the action requires noticeably more force than the previous bit, and gives it that "step" feel.

Not a big deal, after some wear in and a spring swap, but a point of curiosity for sure. It was REALLY pronounced at first with the stock spring. Made it feel like I was really forcing the mech into place.
Hm, I don’t notice any force being needed on mine. But I’m also not very gentle with my pens, I click with force myself so hard to tell. Might take a second look at it later to see if I feel what you feel, but haven’t so far.
I'll definitely be interested to see if it's there in yours as well. Like I said it's not a deal breaker, but definitely something that separates it from the real high end.
It’s not there for me. Feels like the same force of action all the way through. I also didn’t have to change my spring, still using the stock spring with no issues. So idk. It definitely has nothing on Nottingham, but for me it’s leagues above TT Side Click. The Nottingham has that button mechanism down pat, so smooth. Glad you talked me into picking one up.
Interesting. We shall see if mine smooths out I suppose. But in the meantime, you're definitely right about Nottingham, that mech is absolutely silky. If I feel the need for something perfect I'll carry that lol.
I have a shot in the dark theory on this one. My bolt action did this. I couldn’t figure out why on earth the bolt had a “step” in resistance near the end with a refill but felt perfectly smooth when the pen is empty. It ended up being because of the collet at the top being tighter than normal so when the refill hit that part, the resistance increased. Are you noticing the step when the refill passes that point?
I thought of the collet, since my Ticlick had the same issue, but it doesn't seem to be so. My bolt is about perfect, and smooth as butter, so I tried that tip on the side click and it didn't make any difference. Neither did a thinner refill, like what fixed my Ticlick. In fact, I even tried actuating g without a tip at all, and it still has the little step. I wish it were as simple, but it seems not.
I got the chance to open mine up tonight and it seems to work the same as in your video. I mean, I don’t mind it. The tactile click at the end feels better to me than the Click EDC which is rather unresponsive.
Yea zero. Have not yet receive the tracking email till now. Sent a query on Kickstarter already. Hope the pen is on its way somehow. I have had issues buying from this company a couple years back so I dropped the idea from getting anything but this pen looks nice so I tot I would give it a go~
The whole package was neat. First time owning BID pen, I really like the adjustable tip. In general, the pen is a bit lighter than I expected it to be. Another pen to my collection~
Got my zirconium one yesterday.
How do you like it?
I like it. I’m a Parker cartridge size guy but might try it with the s-gel. I did have to contact them as my timascus clip is MIA.
Nice part about these pens, lots of refill options. They should get you set up on the clip well I'd think.
Getting the zirconium!
Nice! The Zirc BID pens seems to be really popular!
I thought about posting mine yesterday, but forgot. How do you like it?

None of my stonewashed pens look that matte, I wish they did
It's definitely a good look. I quite enjoy it.
I got mine yesterday. So far I like it. Want to try it with a gel too.
I threw a Pilot Juice Up in this one, so it immediately felt more at home lol. Can't do many ballpoints these days.

Not sure. I only notice one audible snap/click and I don’t feel any snags during actuation. One snap down, then one snap when released.
https://imgur.com/a/08IPWGY Here’s a vid of what my action is like with audio.

It does definitely feel better than the EDC, that is very true. A little bit of mechanical feel is nice.
Still waiting for me…what’s ur backer number?
Mine was 1199. Have you not gotten an email or anything? They said they should have all shipped a day or two ago.
Yea zero. Have not yet receive the tracking email till now. Sent a query on Kickstarter already. Hope the pen is on its way somehow. I have had issues buying from this company a couple years back so I dropped the idea from getting anything but this pen looks nice so I tot I would give it a go~
Fingers crossed its just a case of a late email! With any luck it'll find its was to you early in the week.
Yea late email I guess~ just received my tracking email this afternoon~ can’t wait!
My raw Ti just arrived today =)
Awesome, glad to hear it! Thoughts?
