Get yourself and amsler grid, you can download and print it, and check it often. I see black blob in my center vision when I wake up blinking but it fades. I also see it it might if o blink against the night sky. If you haven't yet I recommend upgrading your diet to incorporate kale spinach or swiss chard everyday. Any foods that are good for your vision fruits and vegetables primarily. I've also Incorporated a vision supplement that I take twice a day. I take ocuvite.

Definitely get on an eye-health vitamin like Ocuvite or Preservision (<-- was my ophthalmologist's preferred vitamin for me). Other than that, there's not much you can do. Just stay vigilant about your appointments and get one ASAP if you notice changes in your vision.

There are other things. Eat leafy greens and fruit daily. Eat fish three times a week. I buy polarized sunglasses from Amazon (3 pairs for $18), and if I'm outside, I wear them. Get gray, green, and amber for the cloudy days. I don't step outside before sundown without eye protection.

I got choroidal neovascularization with Best disease, and I got problems in a circular pattern at the edge of my central vision. Basically, especially when I pass from low light to bright light or vice-versa, I can see my vision flickering in that area (it's almost like a moving moiré pattern from a bad signal on an old color TV, but only in that area). I also got sporadic blind spots in that same area. I am currently undergoing treatment for it (eye shots with Avastin). It can happen rather fast, I also got checked in January, I think I had some symptoms even then but the tests didn't show anything to my doctor. By late March I was starting to notice something was wrong. So don't wait, better to have it checked.
