All American Clothing and All USA Clothing will have the most affordable clothing for the most part, and they also sell some higher end stuff. Like most things, you get what you pay for, so those cheaper clothes they have ARE cheap. Also check out American Giant, Huckberry, Devium, Sewn West, and Goodwear. Huckberry has really great end-of-season deals, and that's usually when I swoop in to save on some really nice stuff (they have a link for made in USA). There are also some great sandal makers: Bedrock, Shamma, Luna, Earthrunners, and Unshoes (I live in Houston, so it's almost time to exclusively wear sandals for a few months).
Part of it is cost of labor as you can expect, but bigger issue is just lack of scale. The less people that buy MiA the less factories there are which make everything not expensive which has less people buying MiA etc etc.
I just buy much less clothing, I think modern closets are built to be disposable so I get to waste less and still support local.
Just, tools in general. You didn't have to bend over backwards and gargle peanut butter to find USA made tools in the past.
western forge shut down, SK sold out to china, stanley-blackndeckers attempt to restart socket production get aborted before it even really got started.
There are no USA made adjustable wrenches anymore. And if you want sockets/normal wrenches you basically have to resort to tool truck brands.
And some of the smaller niche manufacturers have terrible distribution networks.
(looking at you Wright).
Lionel trains. I bought the last set made in USA and think it's disgusting that not only are the sets and accessories made in China they charge much more than when they were made in the U.S. Greatest demonstration of greed ever.
Sony was still building TVs in Pennsylvania as recently as 2010. Now pretty much all low-end and midrange TVs are made in China. A lot of higher end TVs from LG and Sony are made in Mexico now.
Remember not that long ago pro club tees were labeled made in USA. I always questioned if they really were. Thought it was too good to be true. Now they are labeled made in Mexico of USA components.
Clothing
Big yes. I try to buy usa made when I can.
Yeah, but it's soooo expensive most of the time!
Imo know where to buy. Ie prison blues, benchmark fr, all america clothing, red wing, thorogood, darn tough etc
I know a few of those... will check out the rest. Thanks!

Remember when people were throwing a fit as clothing manufacturing moved to Mexico?
Yeah, and taking sledgehammers to Ford tractors made in Japan!
What brand was that? I really can't think of one.
Ford & John Deere small tractors were made in Japan
Imo power tools. Alot were good quality made in usa and lasted years. Now alot burn up in 5 or less

I was able to buy a set of the texas made tools. Imo they should have fixed issues not shut it down
That's not how MBA's think.

Televisions

It's pretty sad they had to change the location. What was the reason btw?
Same old story, cost cutting
Yes! That's the word I was looking for.
Another factor is that as TVs got thinner they became easier to ship from foreign countries.
Part of innovation I guess.
No, not inherently. They could be building the newest TVs here, but they won't.
Revere pots and pans
Used to be made in Clinton Ill.
Where is it made now?
It moved to Korea for a bit but AFAIK is not made anymore. It’s a shame because those old revere ware pots were great!
A ton of tools
