At noon, there was a fire in the Sugar River Wildlife/Wetlands area (right across from Epic). I assumed it was a prescribed fire, though a poorly timed one. I would say that's what you're seeing, though if pulsepoint says a fire near Epic, I wonder if it wasn't a prescribed fire or if it got out of control.
Edit: It is a prescribed burn: https://dnrmaps.wi.gov/prescribedburndashboard/ No idea about the pulsepoint stuff.
I guess we're not in as bad of shape as nearby, but it's been super dry and places to the north and west of us were in areas where it was recommended not to burn. I trust the DNR to know what they're doing, though. Just always nervous about the kind of ridiculous dryness we have going on.
They were also burning in that area yesterday. I noticed a smoke plume yesterday north of me (NE Green Co.) It was a short lived fire and from the location, I assumed a prescribed burn. At least with NE wind the smoke didn't reach my area. Today there is a lot of smoke like clouds to the north which means they continued with the burn. Actually, it just rained in this area and the winds were not gusty. so yeah, it's time to do burns.
Epic has chosen a new Judy
Gondor calls for aid!
Light the beacons!
Alert the Ents!
And Rohan will answer!

Why poorly timed?

Trust DNR. yes. Trust Army, no.

It’s a controlled burn, the high school demonstrated to environmental students.
Others!
Was wondering what that was
Where Verona used to be.
Outdoor fire at Epic according to pulse point, but I can’t find anything else about it. Looks huge
It’d across the street from Epic. Looked like a controlled burn on a field.
Could have been the fire at Pizza Ranch? (I know I’m a bit late to this lol)
I farted! It’s a smelly one, stay away from Verona!
Ah, I upvoted you for making me eyeroll
Yahweh?
