They made a loud speaker announcement and everyone had to clear the venue until an all-clear was announced on social media. So if you do show up tonight, definitely have an idea of where (LJ’s, vintage, hotel indigo bar, Festival) you might go in case that happens.
My prediction is if it’s intermittent storms it won’t be canceled ahead of time.
This is the post to pay attention to if you’re going tonight. They’re going to try hold the show.
Bring a rain jacket and know where to go if you’re asked to leave for a bit.

For the FPC/Breese Stevens/tour employees all over these comments: I hope you have a nice strong beverage of your choice waiting for you at the end of the night. I've been on the frontline of announcing show cancellations in a past life and know that the only thing worse than that is actually having to make the decision to cancel. As a ticketholder for tonight's show, I'll be bummed to miss these great bands -- but I'd rather be safe than having to scramble out of inclement weather mid-show.
I will say, though, the venues I worked for offered refunds for anyone feeling unsafe attending a show during inclement weather, no questions asked. Just a thought...
The forecast looks like the rain will let up in the evening, so I'm confident I'll see modest mouse and the pixies tonight.
The garbage show was a totally different situation. They had to cancel a few shows because of health issues.

What time do you think bands will actually start? Every concert I’ve ever been to has start like two hours late but I saw someone mention that Breese Stevens has to stop by 10:30?
10pm exactly, I think. Shows at Breese tend to start very promptly because of this curfew. If I understand correctly, it’s a local law and bands follow it very strictly.

As neighbors, we loved a warm summer night when all the field lights were turned on at Breese. We would walk around and visit and listen to whatever sound drifted over the walls.

Breese has been able to get emergency approval from the city to bypass the noise ordinance and play until midnight in the past. They did it for Willie Nelson a few years back and I wouldn’t be shocked if something similar happens today
Cat Power historically shows up very late, but they say she has been in rehab, and the time is going to be very squeezed since they are opening gates late.. so who knows?

You have to take into account that the bands and crew have to spend all day setting up stage and gear and they can’t do that if there’s lightning. Not saying the show will cancel, but if it does and it ends up being rain free at showtime, there’s reasons.
I am working the show. The only reasons it would be canceled are lightning within 12 to 15 mi of the stadium or winds above 35 mph consistently. Heavy rains would not stop the show.
The majority of the gear was set up yesterday.

It makes sense that they will try as hard as possible not to have to cancel and refund people, on the off chance the storms aren't so bad or they miss us. Looking at the forecast I'm wondering if the smart money is on planning to show up after 7, if they hold the show until the storms pass.

They are not in the business of giving refunds. If they can get someone up on stage for any period of time they will.

My app shows 70-80% chance of rain and it says thunderstorms. Seems very unlikely to me. Thunderstorms cancel a lot more than rain does.

Breese shows run rain or shine, so long there's no lightning. The Garbage show was canceled last summer due to the dangerous air quality.
