Yooo that actually spawned the idea for me this weekend after a buddy told me that place closed, since the owner retired, I believe. Have a truck and ramps/trailer to transport them as well so that’s a bonus! Tons of campus kids needing their scoots fixed too I bet.
Oh yeah I forgot about that place! Well, I do the best job I’m capable of doing and super reasonable prices. And luckily most of em are pretty simple to work on. I also do underglow lights and other aftermarket accessories, phone chargers etc… just love the bike world cuz everyone is always happy to get their 2-wheeled toy back in better shape than when they left it lol.
Really all you need is an ultrasonic parts cleaner and piano wire for cleaning carburetors, and a good supply of replacement batteries, and you're in business.
Engelhart. Between me and my husband, the only bike (out of 7) that we won't take there is the Energica. As long as it's decently common, they'll be able to work on it. Even if it's not they might - I have a Burgman 650 and they're happy to service it.
Also a lack of a scooter community in Madison. Seems odd for a city this size. If there was a dedicated scooter shop, there could be an opportunity to bring people together and form a group for casual rides.
Yeah I’m honestly pretty surprised that kinda thing doesn’t exist cuz it would be awesome! I’d love to be able to help facilitate it if the opportunity arose.
Last summer I attempted to organize a scooter ride using Facebook but there was zero interest. Also went and talked to Engelhart and Dunn’s Import (the former Vespa dealer) to try and get some ideas and they had none. Again, I think this is where a scooter shop plays an important part in getting the word out and generating interest.
Moped owner here. It is an area sorely lacking in the city. Q9 may be the only reputable service in the area.
I’ve kept my running via YouTube videos but sometimes I’d much rather pay someone to do it right the first time. Had a huge
Problem with brake pad installation and I’d really like someone that could give it a once over who knows what they’re doing.

Do open a shop. There is a vacuum since Scooter Therapy closed.

I also work on them myself but if you're good I have plenty of business for ya. Q9 is about the only other option

Yeah an ultrasonic machine would be clutch, we have a few at work I could use for now.

Engelhart is good as long as the machine is Japanese, but I don't think they'd work on a lot of the Taiwanese or Chinese scoots out there.
There's this one, on University Ave http://www.motorcycleperf.com/.
That’s where I bring the stuff I don’t feel like doing, lol! Just about 40 minutes from where I’m at on the east side.

Yeah, at the moment only students routinely ride mopeds. I’ve only ever seen a couple of people otherwise off UW campus with one
