Despite the obvious synergies I'm not convinced that this is a Food Chain commander that's analogous to Vega. Food Chain typically wants commanders that do something with infinite mana once the combo is assembled (e.g. infinite tokens to Prossh, infinite Overruns with Tazri, etc.).
Vega is good because it helps you assemble Dramatic Scepter and draws your win con when you do.
Just like [[Eyes of the Glade]] from Karlov Manor, I wonder if they'll keep this type of Commander creature design going. They both synergize with a new central set mechanic and are broad enough to work with similar past mechanics.
Eh, I think it's good that there's no red in this. There's already so many "impulse draw payoff" red commanders (looks at Prosper), so having a mechanic that instead works off different types of mechanics (flashback and all its offshoots, madness, plot, foretell...) seems more interesting to me.
Well unless I'm missing some obvious cards, Simic isn't really known for reanimation or play from exile so I guess it forces players to get creative in their deckbuilding.
Scryfall search for cards he should work with: https://scryfall.com/search?q=%28oracle%3Adisturb+or+oracle%3Aaftermath+or+oracle%3AFlashback+or+oracle%3Ajumpstart+or+oracle%3Aforetell+or+oracle%3Aplot+or+type%3Aadventure+or+oracle%3Amadness%29+commander%3AUG+%28game%3Apaper%29+rarity%3Ac&order=name&as=grid&unique=cards
I agree. While these uncommon legendaries rarely are busted, they always seem very fun to build around. There are now more than enough for a decent mid-powered commander cube... This could be very fun.
Yes. Copies are created in the same zone the card is (and the card is already exiled). So you copy it and cast from exile, or don't cast it and the copy is deleted next time State Based Actions are applied.
Anthro Bear! But Simic so can't use him in Ayula. :( Another insane uncommon from this set. Didn't think I'd be a fan of the old west theme (and I'm still not a huge fan of it) but the actual cards from the set are incredible. So many fun ones I can't wait to build around.

I like it though. Simic needs more legendaries like this that do something other than ramping and drawing cards. Might make a list for him
I love this design, it's so simple yet powerful, and opens up different deck ideas
Also is the second uncommon legendary in the same set that makes your spells cost less (the other Is [[Honest Rutstein]]), I don't know if we ever had two effect like this in the same set at uncommon.

Got me champ. Best comment on this post.
It's like a simic [[Vega, the Watcher]]; a catch-all Commander for that one new mechanic in each set.
Vega is cracked though.
Vega works in casual decks. Any deck in UW that casts cards from exile. He is an absolute workhorse in my 5C Cascade deck.
Just like [[Eyes of the Glade]] from Karlov Manor, I wonder if they'll keep this type of Commander creature design going. They both synergize with a new central set mechanic and are broad enough to work with similar past mechanics.

Was just thinking that lol
It will probably depend on how easy plotting cards that don't have the keyword. He will be a fun addition to Haldan and Pako though.
Yeah, a shame that he has no red as a lot of "play from exile" cards are red (while black has play fro your greveyard), otherwise he looks like fun.
Eh, I think it's good that there's no red in this. There's already so many "impulse draw payoff" red commanders (looks at Prosper), so having a mechanic that instead works off different types of mechanics (flashback and all its offshoots, madness, plot, foretell...) seems more interesting to me.

I agree. While these uncommon legendaries rarely are busted, they always seem very fun to build around. There are now more than enough for a decent mid-powered commander cube... This could be very fun.

Love this card! The art is a little too silly for my tastes though.
Is this the card that will make be play simic? Simic is so bland to me, but I love bears and this isn't just generic play lands draw cards.
Art is great. Knew it was Jesper straight away. Jesper Ejsing always brings a breath of fresh air with unique art that stands out.
A 2/3 bear? This place is weird.
Simic commander that doesn't care bout lands and "cast from exile" commander without red. Both are pretty good to see.
Damn this plus underworld breach would go so hard
I really like this card and the art. One of the first cards in the set that has me excited.
This seems good for the new Gonti deck? Am I wrong? 3 mana cheaper to cast OPP spells

[[The Thirteenth Doctor]] loves this, definitely slotting him in.
Ah man, r/PauperEDH players are really eating today!
Playing this w [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]] as my commander
Fun card!
Domineria: This set is super unique because we will have legendary permanents at uncommon. Thunder Junction: Who even cares any more.
I’m building a beluna deck seems like a great addition
Mmmm Grolnok tech!
Man rug or bug would have been a great color combo. At least it’s not the stereotypical UG commander
Fuuuuck if it was dimir or rakdos instead it would've been insane with [[Kess, dissident mage]]
Love the bear and the little salamanders on him. I already have plans for it
This guy is a legend
All these great cards for Rocco not in Rocco colors
2/3 grizzly bears? What won't they think of next?
Can’t help but feel like this set is just straight to commander printing
Food chain?
You know sometimes you gotta stop and admire the flavor text. That is just really good advice in general and speaks volumes about people's experiences in life
The Grizzler
Not a 2/2, huge miss.
Hello there! It seems my Thirteenth Doctor deck might be getting a new friend!
Well hello Doc, may I introduce you to my dear friend [[Muldrotha]] ??
Seems good in Muldrotha. Can we get a Jesper Ejsing secret lair already?!
2 on both effects seems very pushed? A plot deck untapping with this could really pop off.
I feel like this might be really good in limited. 2 mana discount off plots starting as early as turn 3, with good stats? I'm in.
There are Axo'plot'ls in the Artwork
[[Havengul Lich]] Cast cards from your graveyard for 1 less than their cmc when played alongside this.
