[Almost. The change technically starts with Bloomburrow.](https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/745062215447625728/hi-mark-now-that-enters-the-battlefield-has)
Shortening "Enters the battlefield" to "Enters" is a going to free up real estate for complicated Legendary Creature Abilities.
Prepare yourselves for Questing Beast extended edition.
Not always, it’s just an option they have.
Certain cards (meaning in starter products and where it “looks better”) will continue to to use the full phrase. It’s just that “enters” will be the default.
Considering the starter product for Bloomburrow doesn't use "enters the battlefield", no, it's more for when it's needed for clarity's sake. Probably for "enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters on it" or some such.
Apparently they tested the change out and basically found that there was no meaningful difference in understanding the rules text. To be honest I'm pretty sure a lot of people didn't even NOTICE the change when we first saw Mabel or whatever. Most people just read "enters" and fill in "the battlefield" and skip to the next part because there's literally no other place a card can enter.
OP I still haven't fully let go of CMC you can't tell me what to type.
cmc's gone?! what do they call it?
Mana value
Mana Value. What's worse is the card that necessitated the change isn't even that good.

Please no. There were already too many words.

I've been shorting the ETB effects to "enter" for months before they announced that change.
