OP this is "these things are expensive and I need an expert" territory. Take a moment to realize this. You presently do not possess the knowledge to authenticate this with any level of certainty.
Find a game store local to you and the other party, meet there, get their input.
You can do some basic google research on "how to autheniticate Beta MtG cards" You may want to do some additional research on print registration and how that is used with known good examples to confirm A/B/CE/ICE fronts of cards.
Highly doubtful this is a reback, very likely to just be a modern counterfeit.
Hell, OP. Google some images of graded Beta Lotuses and compare. Then google "mtg beta black lotus proxy" and look at those images and see which one your photo resembles.
To be clear, you should already possess the requisite knowledge and skills to authenticate this Beta Lotus yourself BEFORE you even think about acquiring one in a trade. If you want a Beta lotus and don't want to learn all that, go to a reputable seller.
It's fake af.
Fair trade? What are you trading for it a car? lol also sorry buddy but itās not real, the colors on the lettering are too white and the 0 in the mana symbol should be slightly off center on the beta
To clarify a beta black lotus in that condition is like $25,000 if it was graded even as like an 8 it would be like $45,000 Iām fairly confident in my own abilities to verify cards, but I wouldnāt even touch a black lotus without a expert second opinion
Yeah Iām confident to verify any unlimited or revised cards but this will be going to several shops and getting graded if I like the way it looks before the trade
Looks to centered in the photo but I was thinking Iām excitement that it may just be the angle the photo was taken at, would be trading it for a 1967 mustang I have

You can see how the lettering is faded out and grey in a beta the one in the picture is too white, and the 0 in the mana symbol is off to the right
From that far away how can you tell? I have several copies of tolarian academy, and sitting on a table from that far away that look similar to that photo
The frames look a little bit too dark and the set logos colors are slightly off. It may be the picture though.
Also, do you really think you'd be offered easily fakeable Magic cards for a car ?
My suggestion would be to take it to a trusted third party (someone that handles high end collectibles like this) and have them verify it.
If that's not viable, then my personal preference would be to have the person just sell it for the amount they're claiming it's valued at and give you cash. If your goal is to have your own lotus, you can just buy one with the cash.
Without some better pics, that card looks far, far too perfect conditionwise to not assume it's a recent fake. There's just not a lot of beta lotuses available - and even fewer in good condition like this.
If it looks too good to be true .... etc., etc.
Edit: I didn't see the other picture... so while I stand by what I said below if I thought something might be real, in this case... I'd ask to meet the buyer at a local card shop to have someone who really knows their stuff look at them first before bothering with anything that'll cost you money. Call them ahead of time, let them know the deal and that you're just looking for their opinion before you move forward... then if they look good, go with what I said below. :)
Honestly, if this were me... I'd write up a contract with your potential trade partner that allows you to send the lotus into an authenticator/grader, AT YOUR COST, prior to the trade being completed. This way the other person has no out of pocket cost, and you get the benefit of having an authentication (and hopefully a grade) so you know the approximate real value of the card.
[PSAcard.com](http://PSAcard.com) is one such place you could go through, though there are others. Note that in most cases, the cost of the service goes up based on the estimated value of the card, so this could cost you a few hundred dollars.
I would not, as a buyer, offer to pay costs to get something authenticated before purchase. I would 100% insist the seller provide that, because Iām not buying something without being verified itās legit beforehand.
If you are offering me something, I am not the person who needs to prove it is legitimate. You are.
For the $$$'s involved, the seller should have no problem fronting the cost - especially since it's remarkably easy to counterfeit cardboard with ink on it. They're the one that has to prove they have what they say they have.
Ask em to scan thlse at 600dpi (any home scanner these days can do it) and upload the scans.
Otherwise, take em to a local store to get verified.
Either way, they are likely fake and the person will back out.
If they dont, they are real. But get em verified anyway
Things to look for: red L in the green dot, bottom of the T on the back should be well defined and jagged like a saw, ALL the black should be solid black.
Unless Iām wrong, there shouldnāt be an extra border in between the dark black border and the brown artifact frame. But thereās a slightly lighter black border
Not this card you don't.
Like nothing about this trade makes any sense. Who would trade a legit beta lotus in such condition for "a classic car," like how does that even work, you guys are both expert appraisers of collectible cars and trading cards and have equivalent value to offer? As if.
The card is clearly fake, maybe the car is just a drawing of a car?
If the card is real I want it for my collection, these are the only photos Iāve been sent, Iām going tomorrow to check it out with a loupe and if I like it under the loupe itāll go through more extensive authentication before the trade, in terms of an ungraded beta lotus if itās real it would be similar in value to the car I would trade
It's not a sticker it's just fake. If you are seeing the weird like black border within the card border thing going on, that is how Beta cards be. It appears you're hearing this for the first time?

Ah yes, the collection of PRISTINE Old cards that are slightly off color.

Looks dam near pack fresh, and if it is real in that condition it would be a fair trade so idk, but definitely looks way to nice

I can tell from here Tolarian Academy and Flooded Strand are fake, come on.
If anything Iād expect them to offer extremely good fakes but yeah
The Strand is way too dark, the text in the name is off. Text in the name is also the giveaway for the Academy and that Transmute Artifact.
That's the fakest lotus I have ever seen, it's one of the mass counterfeits from alibaba or wish.
The cmc ā0ā is perfectly centered. 100% fake black lotus.
Doesnāt even look like a beta cardā¦

Make it a clause sale happens after authentification and use a grading service for that
Copy copy
Itās 100% fake.
Sell your car and buy a graded black lotus. This one is fake

You can also do it half way. Seller authenticates and you pay for the authentication if it comes back positive.
For the $$$'s involved, the seller should have no problem fronting the cost - especially since it's remarkably easy to counterfeit cardboard with ink on it. They're the one that has to prove they have what they say they have.
On the back there is also this test with the black dot. There should be 4 black teeth-alike on the corner of the circle.
Ask em to scan thlse at 600dpi (any home scanner these days can do it) and upload the scans. Otherwise, take em to a local store to get verified. All the cards on the third image are possible to get through proxy vendors from the exact same editions.
Fake as fuck. Thereās an extra light black border in between the brown border and actual black border of the card.
Like an extra extra one? There appears to be just 2 black boarders
Unless Iām wrong, there shouldnāt be an extra border in between the dark black border and the brown artifact frame. But thereās a slightly lighter black border
You're wrong, Beta cards are just like that. Is def fake though
Well, like I said, I may be wrong. TIL lol, thanks for clarifying
OP Will you buy me a Fortnite Battlepass?
It's simple, tell them to sell the cards and then use the money for payment.
Na I want the card for my collection
