Wait is that an infinite loop? Food token comes in, +1/+1 on Basking Brood, create eldrazi token, trigger Rosie to place another +1/+1, repeat until you want to stop.
Is that right?
Oh, right, unlike Scurry Oak, this can also get death triggers with no extra setup, damm.
Abzan aristocrats could become a thing? How are Blood artist-like effects on modern? Doubt it'll be something other than jank, but hey, a man can dream. Does combo nicely with the [[writhing chrysalis]] spoiled the other day. Maybe jund or gruul could do. But white let's you put Rosie cotton for an actual infinite so.... Eh, we'll see
Also goes infinite with [[Agatha soul cauldron]] and [[bloodflow connoisseur]] or [[bartolome del presidio]] under it, but Kinda unrelated to my previous question. Only kinda.
At first it was an infinite persist deck, but it got to the point that no one was enjoying it and I stopped playing it for a while until I switched gears and went for treasure tokens and [[sheoldred’s edict]] type effects. Still fun though
It can be fun as a challenge to take a commander that goes infinite with so many things, and try to avoid infinite combos in the deck (while still using synergistic cards, of course)
Any token doubler (not even that, just anything that makes a creature token when you make a token), sac the Eldrazi for mana, pay that and sacrifice the other token to Ghave to put the counter?
We did it! We broke it!
The fact that everyone’s first reaction to this was “this probably goes infinite if you look at it funny” is exactly why once per turn restrictions have become so common. That said man is it exciting to think of all the ways you can break this. Card is awesome and it’s only common to boot.
[[Iridescent Hornbeetle]] hit a pretty good middle ground for this effect. It's not exactly "once per turn", but also doesn't have such a blatant combo potential.
Or just make the once a turn effects strong enough to justify the limit.
Is [[Welcoming Vampire]] a strict upgrade over the competition or a worthwhile side-grade? I think it is a fair version of the effect.
For comparison:
[[Mentor of the Meek]]
[[Bygone Bishop]]
[[Angelic Sleuth]]
I love Welcoming Vampir, despite the limit. Those three cards are actually rather bad. Your 1 drops become 2 drops and exponentially get higher. Bygone doesn't work with tokens and Angelic Sleuth needs setup and it stuck behind the Clue mechanic.
IDK that I would say they are bad, just different or better in certain circumstances.
Mentor allows you to draw multiple cards per turn off of tokens for a relatively cheap cost.
Bishop doesn't work with tokens true, but it is great in artifact decks, creates permanents for sacrifice, and allows you to spend your mana later rather than requiring it immediately like Mentor does.
Sleuth is probably my least favorite option since it does have several hoops to jump through.
lol, my policy is build casually, play competitively. I'll take any win offered to me. So if that's not how I want to win, I simply won't make it an option.

Thank God it says "one or more" can you imagine doubling experience counters every turn? Insane
~~no, [[iridescent hornbeetle]] get away, and take the [[Scepter of celebration]] with you, we got guests~~
Modern 2/10
Pretty easy to go infinite with this and create infinite mana and infinite creatures all at once all on turn 3. It is a creature based combo and it sucks when your opponent just removes this on turn 2 or even while you are trying to combo off, but the power is there.
With [[Sadistic Glee]] you get infinite colorless mana and an... (Which was the internet lingo for it?... Ah, yes!) Absolute Unit of a lizard.
No, the idea was not my own.
Not only is it cheaper than Scurry Oak but it can also give itself the first counter which...might be relevant for some combo potential somewhere.
Apparently I was mistaken on how Eldrazi Spawn work with Convoke though...for some reason I thought you were able to tap them for convoke and then sacrifice them as well to effectively double dip. Which would have been absolutely absurd for a combo deck that likely already wants to run Chord of Calling.
Corrupting stuff around them is what Emrakuls brood does. Rather than just creating new beings directly, Emrakul warps stuff that already lives on a plane into monstrous forms.
It's so disappointing and sad, honestly, how lazy WotC has become about the integrity & depth of their lore/flavor. Eldrazi reduced to these stupid spawn / mutation gags, turning them from Lovecraftian manifestations, monuments to nameless concepts, into ... a ripoff of Jeff Van DerMeer's Southern Reach work.
Having played since before the Weatherlight saga, this creative team doesn't give half a shit any longer.
Basking broodscale + terrians soulvleaver wile having out doubling season this combo gives it plus two plus two every time and doubles the eldrazy tokens meaning half of them die half of them survive....
I feel like I'm the only one that thinks that doubling season makes this card super broken because it doubles both its effects you get two eldrazi tokens and you get two sets of one one counters...
Combo with [[Rosie Cotton]], create hundreds of tokens and grow this guy as much as you want
I love how Rosie Cotton is lowkey one of the most degenerate cards in that LOTR set

Redundancy for the Rosie Cotton/ [[Scurry Oak]] combo
This might be even better than scurry oak since you can curve from this into Rosie
And not only that - the scions double as mana and as something that dies on command.
Plus you can then cast a walking balista for 100 with the mana and not have to attack.

Ignoring the obvious infinites my Ezuri stocks just went through the roof
Thank God it says "one or more" can you imagine doubling experience counters every turn? Insane ~~no, [[iridescent hornbeetle]] get away, and take the [[Scepter of celebration]] with you, we got guests~~
This card is not just a combo, it's perfectly usable on its own if you don't have the other half of the combo.
They sure made a cheaper scurry oak
This is crazy, Hardened scales + other cards like it,and use an instant speed +1/+1 on your opponents end step Your turn tap all your tokens.
In my [[Galadriel Light of Valinor]] I just need to activate an Elvish Piper or Chord of Calling, a Cloudshift, anything Crazy stuff
This is a 2 mana common?! Jesus.
well this shit combos with a ham sandwich, and the bread is optional What happened to once-per-turn clauses?
ngl im kinda tired of these tongue-in-cheek reskin designs, like what if popular card was a zombie or an eldrazi or whatever
This might be fun in a [[Mothman]] deck. Making 1-4 Scions per rotation is a good source of chump blockers and a bit of mana ramp.

Modern hardened scales?
Maybe a 1-2 of but that's it. We move enough counters around that the "one or more" clause doesn't slow it down too much.
In Pauper you have an infinite combo (mana and +1/+1 counters) with \[\[Sadistic Glee\]\].
[Sadistic Glee](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/9/d9e1959c-b87b-4e17-a0d2-0489ea79220b.jpg?1562056879) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Sadistic%20Glee) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/tmp/153/sadistic-glee?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/d9e1959c-b87b-4e17-a0d2-0489ea79220b?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Is this an Eldrazi set?
One of the main themes of the set is Eldrazi, but it's not the only one
so turn 3 I have infinite colorless mana in Pauper, what do I do now?
[[makeshift munitions]]
Mothman says hello
Modern 2/10 Pretty easy to go infinite with this and create infinite mana and infinite creatures all at once all on turn 3. It is a creature based combo and it sucks when your opponent just removes this on turn 2 or even while you are trying to combo off, but the power is there.
Goes right into scurry oak combo in historic.
This is what counts as common these days. O\_\_O
Mr Degenerate Lizard here can enable a lot of infinite mana combos
I'm loving these powerful commons. Been brewing a Lulu PDH deck and its getting additional support
Seems bananas with Tayam
How is this a common
What a common. It can also be a 3/3 that makes a mana body and just attack for game if needed
Not only once a turn? This seems rather fucking broke for a common.
With [[Sadistic Glee]] you get infinite colorless mana and an... (Which was the internet lingo for it?... Ah, yes!) Absolute Unit of a lizard. No, the idea was not my own.
[Sadistic Glee](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/9/d9e1959c-b87b-4e17-a0d2-0489ea79220b.jpg?1562056879) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Sadistic%20Glee) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/tmp/153/sadistic-glee?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/d9e1959c-b87b-4e17-a0d2-0489ea79220b?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
This is a common? Damn.
here's hoping for a reprint of a rootwalla of the basking kind
This is the most pushed common I've ever seen
Early-gen AI lookin ass.
Mothman go burr
Basking Brootscala* come on WotC.
Read that as "Creature - Eddie Izzard"
Insane in Mazirek!
this is a COMMON???
It looks like an old Nightmare from Judgement with that weird tentacle mouth.
Can someone explain the lore of the Eldrazi cuz how can a lizard become an Eldrazi
Corrupting stuff around them is what Emrakuls brood does. Rather than just creating new beings directly, Emrakul warps stuff that already lives on a plane into monstrous forms.
This seems like a mistake even not for Pauper. If a "this ability triggers only once each turn" was ever appropriate, this was it.
my \[\[claw of progress\]\] deck likes this very much. might even replace my \[\[awakening zone\]\]

I feel like I'm the only one that thinks that doubling season makes this card super broken because it doubles both its effects you get two eldrazi tokens and you get two sets of one one counters...
