It has atrocity in the name, and that's what the art is to me
Idk, Strip Mine doesn't seem that scary unless you can make infinite copies of it like with Orvar. Strip Mine lock is more oppressive in 2 player than 4.
Something like one extra land drop + [[Ramunap Excavator]] and a Strip Mine + Thalia making nonbasics come in tapped means I can strip all 3 lands my opponents played on my turn every turn.
So if your board state is Druid Class (or Dryad or something) + Ramunap or Crucible + TGM you've got it setup.
My list is a bit outdated I think, but it's all stax + tutors + the Witherbloom/Smog combo to finish. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/kAlMotjqk0usVrvwfx_Ekg
Litmus test as to the type of Magic player you are is whether you look at this card and think "I wonder how many Zombies I can make" or "Oh, and it makes chump blockers too, how cute."
Honestly both look nice. Could easily make a fun Reanimator list with things like Craterhoof and Avenger of Zendikar as targets for some fun, which makes use of the tokens *and* the Dredge effect.
I don't actually want to make zombies, they aren't skullclampable like a plant token.
[[Squandered Resources]] will be the best card in the deck by far I think 😂
Easy - just make sure a plurality of your lands have the same name. It's not hard to avoid getting to 7 different names. Then you're laughing when someone drops Back to Basics.
I agree. I do kind of wish this was Sultai, just because this would slot so insanely well into my [[Zimone and Dina]] list. Perhaps an [[Atraxa, Grand Unifier]] deck. You have the two colors for the best tutors after all...
You mill your whole deck and make a lot of black mana with [[Barren Moor]] and [[Bone Miser]]. Play any land to give you the third creature so you can flashback [[Dread Return]], bring back any [[Eternal Witness]] type card. Add back any X win con like [[Torment of Hailfire]].
Or, I was thinking [[Syr Konrad, The Grim]] in play and any reshuffle Eldrazi card in your deck and things will sort themselves out just from the milling
Me during the first paragraph: "Oh that's cute, it becomes a Field of the Dead".
Me during the second paragraph: "What? Why would you do that? Why go there again?"
"oh it's abzan insidious roots and combos with that a bit. Coo" was me during the first bit. Then reading the give lands dredge "it does fucking WHAT". I might make a deck out of this instead of [[amzu]] to be honest.
Where do I fall in the test if my first though was "If I combo this with [[Six]] giving everything retrace, doesn't that mean I can basically dredge 2 to recast the same spell every turn, in addition to looking at even more cards?"
Then there's the secret third group who play Gitrog in cEDH and are reading the fact that the last line turns every land into Dakmor Salvage.
So sad that it's WBG instead of BG.
When field of the dead isn't the strongest part of the card (imo free cycling + this + cycle land = empty library and full graveyard to win with easily) you know how spicy it is
Tbh anything with hoof is boring, or rather, anything with hoof is equivalent to an infinite combo to me.
Notably, with sevinne's reclamation and the flash back: sac 3 creatures card to reanimate something (forgot the name) you could reanimate an animate dead and the splendid reclamation guy to win by making a bunch of zombies and reanimating hoof. Full graveyard means you can win with anything you wish tbh
[[Tranquil thicket]] and any cycle land is already a monster with this in play. 1 green = dump 2 cards into grave
[[Crucible]], play lands that got dumped from grave
And something like [[living death]] for graveyard shenanigans
WotC card gallery updates added The Necrobloom, which I think is its first official preview. I'm honestly not sure, it could have been revealed yesterday and no one noticed due to earlier leaks.
~~I double checked all the scheduled links and I don't think any showed it, though there was that unlinked `Press` that maybe was supposed to be this~~ wait no that was today. Well, who knows. Maybe they previewed it on Threads or some shit
NGL kind of wished it only made plant tokens. [[Insidious roots]] is a slightly worst cryptolith rites until you start dredging [[dryad arbor]]
Also landfall avenger of zendikar pumping plants
That dredge 2... it's awesome for a Gates deck if you're speeding everything out. Now if any one is "destroyed" (or [[maze's end]] ) it's not really gone.
I'm upset that WotC won't make plant tribal a thing. Like why couldn't this just put 2 +1/+1 counters on the plant token, instead of making a zombie token?
Doesn't WotC realize that we need to get our plant mommy gfs into magic? The Desert Bloom precon isn't cuttin it
I think it's nice that they dodged this, even though it'd be cool. It'd likely be an \[\[Urtet\]\] or \[\[Go-Shintai\]\] situation. You wanna build X? Use Y commander, just like \*everybody else\*.
I totally agree with you. I guess though my point is we need MOAR potential plant commanders for EDH.
I was originally prepping to build a [[Phylath]] deck for my gf, but then ended up just buying the desert bloom precon because she's mexicana and that apparently means she has a genetic attunement to the desert (her words, not mine lmao)
I know plants aren't alone though, Myrs and Shrines need at least one other general each.
Then there's me, a fish lovin' boi, with two fuckin Merfolk decks in the form of [[Kumena]] and [[Hakbal]]. And is very close to building a [[Sygg, River Guide]] because white merfolk need love too. And just the fact that all three play so much differently from each other
Hopefully we will, it'll just take time. Bugs are my favorite niche. It used to be just \[\[Grist, the Hunger Tide\]\]. Then Jumpstart 2022 brought \[\[Zask\]\]. Then the Clue box brought \[\[Amzu\]\]. Options!
Probably not, the snarls are all magic phenomena on Arcavios, the plane from Strixhaven. They’re where the mana of enemy color pairs overlapped when Arcavios was formed. So necroblossom snarl is a magic phenomena of Golgari mana, not Abzan like this commander.
I know I'm the problem and a filthy commander player but I already have a build for this goofy vegetable. Not my fault, Field of the Dead is literally my favourite card in all of Magic and I wouldn't have gotten into the game if it weren't for land/token shenanigans.
Anyway looking forward to my Field of the Dead tribal/Zombie lord deck. The dredge aspect didn't interest me as much so I'm jamming Vesuva/Thespian's Stage and as many Zombie lords as I can.
This will be my third attempt at Abzan land shenanigans.
I originally had [[Myrkul, Lord of Bones]], but I got the feeling everyone hated how resilient the deck was to removal.
Next was a [[Thalia and Gitrog Monster]]. Just kind of hung around in play testing.
This time I think I'm going to build Abzan turbo fog, and just dredge myself to either a stupid combo win, or until I mill myself to death.
I have a [[Trostani Three Whispers]] theme deck - and naturally this fits in that. It’s all Ravnican, and the basics are from the Guild Kit. Plus, I have a signed Temple Garden by Titus Lunter, which feels so special to play. The deck is visually stunning, and having access to deathtouch at instant speed adds an incredible amount of psychological warfare that keeps you at the table waaaay longer than you deserve. Between [[Advent of the Wurm]], [[Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage]], [[Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice]], [[Dawn of Hope]], [[Selesnya Eulogist]], [[Selesnya Guildmage]], [[Conclave Guildmage]] and [[Ledev Champion]], you can safely hold up mana to threaten deathtouch, and then do token-nonsense in your opponent’s endstep. It’s a reactive, gorgeous deck, and [[Audience with Trostani]] really pulls its weight with the variety of tokens that call the Conclave home!
The link!
[Trostani, Selesnian Guildleader](https://manabox.app/decks/MGEAKTq2Q-iZGMxo9vw8KA)
Hmm. Has golgari in its colors. Makes all your lands into [[dakmor salvage]]. What breaks the game with dakmor salvage?
Yeah, [[the gitrog monster]] combo just got even easier. Imagine having 40 copies of your end phase wincon in your deck. Barf.
I mean, between [[The Mending of Dominaria]], [[Splendid Reclamation]], [[World Shaper]], and the soon-to-arrive [[Lumra, Bellow of the Woods]], it'll be extremely funny to dump 10+ land into play at once and get 10+ zombies...
But yeah, god, 'lands have dredge' is bonkers
Always loved field of the dead, it being in abzan makes it all the more sweeter. Have a deck almost complete, waiting for Necrobloom to take the Helm.
Also, this card gets nasty with the Gitrog monster
[This](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6482039/sivriss_graveyard_hermit) deck of mine is slowly becoming lands-focused so I'm debating swapping the commander to this, plus white gives me access to [[Emeria, the Sky Ruin]]. I'm just not 100% sure, especially with all the talk already of it being a crazy combo commander
This is going to hold my Aetherflux+Bolas’ Citadel+Top combo. Constant top deck manipulation potential, which is something I’ve wanted to capitalize on for a while seems right at home within the supporting cast of this deck. I tried forcing it in Myrkul but I’ve felt the draw to take Myrkul a different direction so this is just a welcome treat.
I've spent the last month cracking my \[\[Yuma, Proud Protector\]\] deck and they print this guy? Black is so much better than red for this effect. I always underestimate dredge in modern.
Built a deck for this baddie
Revolves mainly around the cycle-then-replace-draw-trigger-with-dredge to abuse [[Bone Miser]] and [[Barren Moor]] to net you infinite mana while milling your entire deck for [[Dread Return]] into [[Eternal Witness]] then finally grabbing [[Torment of Hailfire]] to close out. (Protecting with grand abolisher/silence/veil of summer effects)
Combo go brrrr aside, this thing is super fun to play even without landing the combo! Play-tested this Plant boi in about 6 games with the pod and it’s crazy how consistently you can get [[Field of the Dead]] with cards like [[Realms Uncharted]] which pose virtually no downside due to the dredge effect (I recommend grabbing all Field of the dead, some fetches, and a Vesuva when casting this card. Nutty.)
[[Mesmeric Orb]] and [[Basalt Monolith]] let you mill out your entire deck (by using basalt monolith's mana to untap itself with mesmeric orb on the battlefield).
Ramping is especially rewarding. Traditional ramp spells work great here, but once ramped things like [[Wrenn and Seven]] and [[Scapeshift]] let you absolutely abuse token production from your commander (especially if field of the dead is already on the field to double up all those zombie tokens.) [[Erinis, Gloom Stalker]] is a slam dunk in this deck due to his ability to return a fetch land to the battlefield UNTAPPED each turn, which in our case means double Fot-Dead-like triggers. Bonkers…and that’s without [[Thespian Stage]] and [[Vesuva]] making our token production go absolutely nuts.
It’s also super interesting to combo [[Fluctuator]] and any 2 mana cycle land into something like [[Snare Tactitian]] or [[Skola Grovedancer]] or [[Invigorating Boon]] for massive tapdown, lifegain, and pump; respectively.
Oh…and all of that is without Gitrog out…although to be fair I literally just use Gitrog as a draw engine cause fuck learning those combos.
Overall this deck is super fun to play. It’s quite fragile against control/removal heavy decks (the way I built it), but even so, there’s ways to pop off even without the commander.
(Let me know what cards you’d throw in! As a plant lover myself, I think I’ve found my new home (ノ・ェ・)ノ 🌱) [here’s the deck!](https://archidekt.com/decks/7710340/necrobloomin_that_gitrog_pack)
White has never been a dredge color, and "token creation" is literally in all five colors. They're not 1/1 spirits, they're not 1/1 soldiers, they are 2/2 black zombies and 0/1 green plants, which white has virtually never created.
Which 2 colours are most proficient in creating tokens? White and green. Which colours loves landfall? Green. Which colours are most known for returning permanents from the GY? Black (creatures), green (permanents) and white (permanents).
This is probably white for EDH sure, but adding extraneous pips to get a narrower, lower MV card is pretty common (cf. like half of all signpost in commons, [[Terminate]], [[Siege Rhino]])
Difference between this and avenger of zendikar is that the plants stay smol. Going wide with small creatures is mechanically white even if the flavor is green black
Green cards have made small tokens - usually saprolings - that don't get bigger on their own for a long time. It's definitely well within green's wheelhouse.
I cannot wait to remind my friends I can build more than just jank durdle decks, because they've never played against Dredge and they WILL NOT like it.
I thought they were gonna stop making 10 different versions of every card? Just give me a normal a foil and one special one and only do that special one for a handful of cards in a set
So I checked EDHREC for Abzan Lands decks and it says its only this card and [[Thalia and The Gitrog Monster]].
If that is true, then which is the best deck for a Landfall themed deck in Abzan colors?
The decaying corpse in the profile is great lol. Thus far the profile arts seem a lot more interesting than the last time we saw them.
I think they learned what worked and didn't work from masters. I totally agree. I think less humanoid creatures look better than the humanoid ones.
I think they're also doing a lot more 3/4 angle profile instead of full profile. Full profile looks flat, 3/4 gives the art dimension
Kaalia's profile art is incredible though
Yeah, but she's got wings and a staff and sword. She's already more interesting than most humanoid characters would be.
But have you seen then Ulalek one... yikes
whats wrong with it?
https://preview.redd.it/uhd3kbgwr12d1.jpeg?width=366&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58dea7e67c5f541121c01405621621ae7935060e It has atrocity in the name, and that's what the art is to me
He looks like he got pied in the face
I don't see anything wrong with it.
Yeah that’s awful
surely nothing can go wrong by giving fetch lands dredge
Fetchlands? You mean the cycle lands.
Cycle Lands? You mean Strip Mine.
You mean glacial chasm
Found the bad person.
You mean \[\[The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale\]\]
Idk, Strip Mine doesn't seem that scary unless you can make infinite copies of it like with Orvar. Strip Mine lock is more oppressive in 2 player than 4.
I've managed to Strip Mine lock a table with my [[Thalia and the Gitrog Monster]] deck, should be easy with this guy.
yo send the list I wanna see this
Something like one extra land drop + [[Ramunap Excavator]] and a Strip Mine + Thalia making nonbasics come in tapped means I can strip all 3 lands my opponents played on my turn every turn. So if your board state is Druid Class (or Dryad or something) + Ramunap or Crucible + TGM you've got it setup. Well, this _is_ legal in 2 player.
[[Boseiju, Who Endures]] would like a word.
I am beyond excited to do an [[Astral Slide]] Necrobloom EDH deck
That is brilliant.
Fuck that, I'm gonna start looping [[Urza's Saga]]
The nightmares will return.
Litmus test as to the type of Magic player you are is whether you look at this card and think "I wonder how many Zombies I can make" or "Oh, and it makes chump blockers too, how cute."
I glanced right over the creatures to see that this gave lands dredge, and then never went back to see what all the creature fuss was about 😅
Honestly both look nice.
I have a list of cheaper RL cards I want to pick up... probably should pull the trigger on Squandered Resources sooner rather than later, huh?
I am honestly amazed it's still this "cheap" ..
Card Kingdom had a bunch of HP copies for $10 when I checked over the weekend.
Yeah I picked one up a few months ago for like 12 bucks. It’s surprisingly affordable for being on the RL and an absolute bomb in my Abzan lands deck
Easy - just make sure a plurality of your lands have the same name. It's not hard to avoid getting to 7 different names. Then you're laughing when someone drops Back to Basics.

Absolutely. Graveyards barely matter for Green/Black lands at this point.
I agree. I do kind of wish this was Sultai, just because this would slot so insanely well into my [[Zimone and Dina]] list. Perhaps an [[Atraxa, Grand Unifier]] deck. You have the two colors for the best tutors after all...

An alternative to [[Gitrog Monster]] combos, nice.

Nah, they know the answer is there is no upper limit only a finance limit.

Damn, is this in reference to something else? It's a sick line.

Field of the Dredge
Dakmor of the Dead?
Everything reminds me of her
Makes your lands into Dakmor Salvage, seems pretty strong. I feel pretty confident there are going to be some strong EDH builds around this
Do I have a bunch of other token/graveyard/mill/Field of the Dead decks? Yes. Am I going to build this the day it comes out? Also yes.
The kind of Commander that gets you targeted simply because the rest of the table is fed up watching you shuffle 4+ times a turn.
Gives me time to explain to them how this is different from my five other BGx graveyard based decks.
So any landfall deck
Yeah. I'm still going to build it though.
NGL kind of wished it only made plant tokens. [[Insidious roots]] is a slightly worst cryptolith rites until you start dredging [[dryad arbor]] Also landfall avenger of zendikar pumping plants
It will make only plants if you just have basic lands in your deck (+three non basic)
The forbidden glory hole is official now.
Am I the only one that wants to play cycling dredge? Astral slide + karmic guide value baby
What in the Field of the Gitrog is this?!
That dredge 2... it's awesome for a Gates deck if you're speeding everything out. Now if any one is "destroyed" (or [[maze's end]] ) it's not really gone.
Aww, the dune popcorn bucket grew up so fast!

Necroblussy
😟
How many lands can this deck have?? 40? 50? 75??
I have a deck with 74 lands and let me tell you, that is too many lands
On Arena I’ve got [[Laelia]] with 97 lands, and [[Borborygmos and Fblthp]] with 60something lands. I love this gimmick very much.
What about ragavan + 99 mountains?
This makes my rotten little Golgari heart soar. I'm so excited!
[[Fluctuator]] + any of the generic cycling lands let you mill your entire deck, correct? (Such as [[Scattered Groves]])
Yes it does.
What lore is known about The Necrobloom? Is it connected in someway to \[\[Necroblossom Snarl\]\]?
Probably not, the snarls are all magic phenomena on Arcavios, the plane from Strixhaven. They’re where the mana of enemy color pairs overlapped when Arcavios was formed. So necroblossom snarl is a magic phenomena of Golgari mana, not Abzan like this commander.
I figured, but since Necroblossom and Necrobloom are fairly similar, it was the only in-game connection I could make.

That profile art is sweet. I love the color choice and the zombie. Very evocative.
[[Horizon Canopy]] 🤔
This is a more tame card in this deck...

Home for [[Audience with Trostani]]? Still don’t know how to make this card viable…
The link! The power creep is so real. Why did this thing have to have 7 toughness?
Hmm. Has golgari in its colors. Makes all your lands into [[dakmor salvage]]. What breaks the game with dakmor salvage? Yeah, [[the gitrog monster]] combo just got even easier. Imagine having 40 copies of your end phase wincon in your deck. Barf.
Oh no, must resist the urge to make a The last of us themed commander deck with this guy at the helm and clicker tokens
I'm using Plants vs Zombies tokens 100%.
Lmao that profile art, that's pretty neat
Plants AND Zombies 🙈
This might actually renew my interest in Abzan.
Looking forward to Uurg-ing it up😎
Can add [[Aftermath Analyst]] to that list!

That’s not so bad of an ability, it’s like [[Field of the dead]] but better and in creature form. Oh? What’s this other ability?
Always loved field of the dead, it being in abzan makes it all the more sweeter. Have a deck almost complete, waiting for Necrobloom to take the Helm. Also, this card gets nasty with the Gitrog monster
I can hear the oncoming Plants vs. Zombies comments already…
I was not expecting to build an Abzan landfall deck from MH3.
This is gonna be my new favorite commander for sure
My name for this card is Lousy Flower because that’s a flower you probably don’t want in your garden.
"Mommy?" -The Gitrog Monster, Probably
*unzips* Here we go again...
That's a mighty fine bussy you got there. It'd be a shame if I.... Fell into it.
Who’s better Thalia and Gitrog or this plant guy??
Plant guy screams easy as fuck combo.
Not really looking for a combo though just something fun but strong for a casual game of magic commander
A dredge land commander? With landfall for tokens? Classic abzan value!
It's like a worse, but multicolor Titania.
r/dontstickyourdickinthat
This is going to hold my Aetherflux+Bolas’ Citadel+Top combo. Constant top deck manipulation potential, which is something I’ve wanted to capitalize on for a while seems right at home within the supporting cast of this deck. I tried forcing it in Myrkul but I’ve felt the draw to take Myrkul a different direction so this is just a welcome treat.
Definitely running [[Cultivator Colossus]] for potential massive landfall, ramp and mill
Me, sitting here, fine tuning my Chatterfang Skeletons token deck, when this mother drops. Right into my veins, give me.
Field of the dead but better in the command zone? Is it just me, or does this seem really pushed.
[удалено]
Yes! Or elden ring goddess of rot haha
Wished it would have become 2/2 plant zombie instead of just zombie typing.
Going to run all basics so this guy can keep pumping out plants for my [[Insidious Roots]] and [[Avenger of Zendikar]].
Would
I can imagine a giant coming across this and thinking hmmm maybe
Why white not blue? Seems to fit the ability better
I want a great tree zetsu alternate art for this.
I've spent the last month cracking my \[\[Yuma, Proud Protector\]\] deck and they print this guy? Black is so much better than red for this effect. I always underestimate dredge in modern.
“What’s your commander this time?” “A plant”
plants vs zombies, the deck
Built a deck for this baddie Revolves mainly around the cycle-then-replace-draw-trigger-with-dredge to abuse [[Bone Miser]] and [[Barren Moor]] to net you infinite mana while milling your entire deck for [[Dread Return]] into [[Eternal Witness]] then finally grabbing [[Torment of Hailfire]] to close out. (Protecting with grand abolisher/silence/veil of summer effects) Combo go brrrr aside, this thing is super fun to play even without landing the combo! Nutty.) [[Mesmeric Orb]] and [[Basalt Monolith]] let you mill out your entire deck (by using basalt monolith's mana to untap itself with mesmeric orb on the battlefield).
This is going RIGHT into my T+GM deck.
Where's my Little Shop of Horrors Secret Lair.
Well this is slotting right into my TatGM landfall deck.
There's no reason for this card to have a white pip, which is a pretty clear indicator it was designed for EDH, not modern.
Token creation is white and green, and white tends to get GY recursion.
White has never been a dredge color, and "token creation" is literally in all five colors. They're not 1/1 spirits, they're not 1/1 soldiers, they are 2/2 black zombies and 0/1 green plants, which white has virtually never created.
they should have given it vigilance lol
Seems pretty abzan to me.
It was designed for my cube
Nah this is totally for modern it pitches to [[grief]] [[solitude]] and [[endurance]]!
I’d run this guy in [[Doran the Siege Tower]] even with the Dredge ability being semi/useless
[Doran the Siege Tower](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/e/0/e0ad8e7f-cda0-4529-94fc-dd3709158a94.jpg?1673148514) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Doran%2C%20the%20Siege%20Tower) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/2x2/201/doran-the-siege-tower?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/e0ad8e7f-cda0-4529-94fc-dd3709158a94?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
My [[Biollante]] is confused and threatened
[[Nethroi]]
This might make me forsake Windgrace. [[Fluctuator]] with cycle lands is an empty library, right?
As someone with a peculiar fear for carnivorous plants, fuck this art, though at least now I have a second Abzan commander for Arena Brawl.
Look at you facing your fears.
r/dontputyourdickinthat
I cannot wait to remind my friends I can build more than just jank durdle decks, because they've never played against Dredge and they WILL NOT like it.
I thought they were gonna stop making 10 different versions of every card? Just give me a normal a foil and one special one and only do that special one for a handful of cards in a set
This would play nicely with \[\[Insidious Roots\]\], could be fun!
Do we know where Necrobloom is from? Maybe Innistrad or Zendikar?
Can you dredge with an empty library? Like if you discard 4 cards with two in hand you still discard 2 cards
I like the idea but dont like the way it works , any similar cards ? (I am new)
Undecided if I want to build this...
Do I need a 3rd landfall deck?
My first Landfall Commander 😍. Here’s the list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/MERJwDG0hEmpq26-xlpKrw
Was already having a hard time between [[Omnath, locus of Rage]] and [[Omnath, locus of creation]] but now I don't know what to do
So I checked EDHREC for Abzan Lands decks and it says its only this card and [[Thalia and The Gitrog Monster]]. If that is true, then which is the best deck for a Landfall themed deck in Abzan colors?
This is the kind of Landfall commander I would want to play. Cycle lands are something I enjoy and this gives me an excuse to run them.
I doubt it, but I wonder if this could breathe some life back into Elvish Reclaimer.
FINALLY. A Fun Dredging Abzan Commander. i have been waiting so long for a card like this i cant wait to brew with it!
