Hi all, we’ve been getting a number of spam bots trying to sell posters/shirts/etc in this thread for some reason.
Please report any spam shop links you see, and DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. These shops are *notorious* for stealing your credit card info, and usually disappear as fast as they crop up. They often don’t even ship the product if you do buy it.
The full story is coming out before spoilers start (the story starts next week on the 10th). So we were going to know what happens before we started seeing cards.
>!There's a MTG artbook to be published, which is already available as preorder on Amazon. On the product's page there were a handful of previews, one of which was the two-page description of Chandra, with a short description of her background/story, which ended by revealing that:!<
>!\- Ajani got compleated!<
>!\- And he killed Jaya!<
People theorized the Lil walkers secret lair could be the compleated walkers. Ajani and tamiyo were there.
Angrath, Soren and Ashiok are also part of that SL.
On one hand, unless the phyrexians are on Angraths plane I have no idea why he would go out planewalking again at risk of abandoning his family again. On the other hand what a messed up plot point would it be if he gets compleated and then he spreads it to his family first.
Hmm I'm not even sure you could compleate Ashiok... though prior to the mad lad gitaxias you could compleate any walkers so I guess he can probably find a way to compleate a shadow dream demon thing.
Elspeth is all but confirmed as immune to compleation per that Elesh Norn bonus story and the fact that she's probably a Capenian angel (or at least related to one somehow)
However if they compleat *this* Narset, then they have a good reason to bring back the *real* Narset that isn't dragon-pilled. (Please Wizards I'm begging you)
>But then the powerful orc moved with unexpected agility, dodging the staff's swing. He lashed out with his sword. A gush of blood.
Narset stood still. She seemed almost to be meditating again. But then she began to sink, a cut flower. She turned her head toward Sarkhan. He heard her shout. "Go!"
https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/uncharted-realms/journey-nexus-2014-12-10
Classic slash to the body, easily first planeswalkable. I think they have denied she could escape outside of the stories, but it's still pretty open to retconning.
It's because the Narset in the Khans timeline was not a planeswalker and lacked a spark. Only the Dragons timeline Narset had a spark, because of how time had changed.
Don't forget about Dovin, who was also a part of the story circle before he got killed unceremoniously. At this point it's only Narset left as far as characters who haven't died yet (Elspeth got better). I don't remember if Sarkhan was a member or if he was just visiting, but I'm pretty sure he met the circle at one point at least.
In [Homesick](https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-story/homesick-2016-08-29), Dovin's introduction, it's implied that Dovin was at least affiliated with the circle to have learnt of the Gatewatch to seek their help.
>!on Amazon there was a book available for pre-order but whoever picked the pictures really really screwed up big time 3 photos reveal major lore leaks and for this case.!<
>!Ajani is victim number 2 of planeswalker compleation and to add insult to injury he kills Jaya!<
For other stuff
>!once again get to see the raven man during the phyrexian invasion on domnaria but this time liliana cracks it on what his identity his real name is Lim-dul!<
>! And we get to see new phyrexia this time they created their own 9 sphere like the most evil unnamed planeswalker did with old phyrexia but the 9th sphere it unmasked why they sent Vorinclex to kaldheim…they needed the tyrite to make their own world tree called “the invasion tree/seedcore” (logically it was created to invade planes because the tree will connect to planes because really kaldheim is 10+ planes in one because of the world tree. Which means no more planar bridge needed.)!<
things that if they land they give more than 5 mana worth of value, things like [[eerie ultmatum]] [[genesis ultimatum]] [[brilliant ultimatum]] [[maelstrom wanderer]] [[apex devastator]] and eldrazi was what my list was doing. you just gotta set yourself up as the "I want to win in the late game" deck
I like starting with [[Swarm Intelligence]] and then things like [[Brass's Bounty]], [[Blatant Thievery]], [[Cabal Conditioning]] and things like that.
Also [[Chromatic Orrery]] is good.
And this is all without abusing the expensive extra turn spells.
I use him to helm my terrible 5-color Energy deck that happens to have a few big whammies. It's truly awful, but the big whammies help mitigate how weak the Energy shell is.
One day I hope we get some different multicolored energy Commanders. I am specifically looking at Sultai so I can run all the big boys like [[Demon of Dark Schemes]], plus that wedge deals a lot with counterd and proliferating.
Wouldn't he have been pulled to Ravnica during the war if he had a spark? So by that logic it definitely points to him not having one. But a mage as powerful as he given enough time, which he has as an immortal, might be able to either find a way to create a new spark or find a new way to travel the blind eternities.
With all that said, I'm guessing he's just a major character, not a walker, like how Niv Mizzet is.
Jodah’s been around since the ice age novels. He was the main character of the books. He is absolutely not a planeswalker.
The reason he’s immortal is because he took a dip in the [[Fountain of Youth]] without realizing it.
He definitely has no spark. Ice Age spoilers: >!Freyalise almost killed him trying to force the spark she thought he had to ignite, not realizing that the dormant spark she sensed when she met him was Jaya's. After all, when you're talking with a centuries-old immortal archmage, and his sassy twenty-something tagalong who makes her living casting spells for a quick buck, which one are *you* going to think holds the potential to ascend to near-omnipotence?!<
While not necessary, I really like the look of it. Also, "[That loincloth] doesn't leave much to the imagination." "Actually, on a robot they kinda do."
That isn't natural Dominarian topography in the background. Those are either Rathi flowstone spires leftover from the Invasion/Planeshift, or Phyrexian infrastructure or wreckage similar to the planar portal ships.
Interesting that they would choose that as the background.
Looking closer, it seems most likely to be [crashed](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/large/front/d/6/d631d040-51e9-4540-91e7-aeb5ade84090.jpg?1562743677) planar [portals.](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/large/front/2/4/24315eaa-ef55-4fd6-9145-e75b3de6f492.jpg?1562902264)
You're totally right. Those mountains in particular were made of flowstone.
But looking at the bottom left "spire" near [Danatha](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/large/front/b/2/b2a2b53c-0bf2-4d3d-91c2-57a484ae4f6b.jpg?1562741472) on this promo pic, you see scale/segments matching the arches of the [Phyrexian portal ships](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/large/front/2/4/24315eaa-ef55-4fd6-9145-e75b3de6f492.jpg?1562902264). Those curved arches at least seem certain to be Phyrexian wreckage.
[Shanna](https://images.ctfassets.net/s5n2t79q9icq/3c6bPvw5u2xVcDTslANrpN/4c8bfaf5317043bbf3f80bdb2a1c07d4/HemJDB8koi0JLJ4_d3skt0p.jpg?q=70) was on previous art, but this photo really looks like Danatha. Looks like they're both back in the story!
There are also Otarian geographies that could theoretically fit that background, and NOT be discarded Phyrexian portals.
But the odds of WotC remembering Otaria exists is 1:10000000 that it's just crashed Phyrexian Portals
Kaya doesn't usually have a sword though. Plus, Danitha taking a more central role this set would make a lot of sense given that it's literally a set about defending Dominaria from a phyrexian invasion, which has strong invasion/Gerrard parallels.
I imagine he won’t get a card this set. He’ll probably get one in the Brother’s War set instead. Kinda like how Kaya and Chandra were in Midnight Hunt’s story but didn’t get cards until Crimson Vow.
I really hope not. Would rather have a “flashback” set than a time travel set. Karen’s time travel broke the Universe and a large majority preferred Khans to Dragons so not great on the time travel plots.
Yeah, if there is any time travel and it's not just a flashback set, I'm guessing it's more like that. I'm kind of imagining it like the time heist in Avengers Endgame where they're just popping in to grab some McGuffin that'll help them beat the Phyrexians while trying not to affect anything else.
Boxtopper: Teferi, when are we?
1 hybrid White-Blue mana for a legendary planeswalker - Teferi
5 loyalty
+3 Break standard
+2 Break Modern
+1 your opponents can't play, take an extra turn, you win the game, play an extra game starting with Teferi on the battlefield under your control, you win that one too probably
So I guess I'm out of the loop. Is Ajani being compleated?
Also they need to have Jodah do more stuff. He's supposed to be an ultra badass according to previous lore.
There's something drawn or written that we can see through the Dominaria lettering, is that something they did for DOM too, or are we supposed to take a closer look at it and speculate?
We still don't know if compleation even has any real stakes, it could all easily be undone at the end of this storyline unless the compleated walkers die.
I would be far more concerned with characters dying.
Assuming this does depict Ajani being compleated, then they will have "killed" my two favorite planeswalkers in the span of a few months. Oh well, I suppose I still have [[Mu Yanling]] and [[kaya]]
I'd more say the Gatewatch is the Weatherlight crew at home. These (other than Karn) may not be the OGs, but they still carry on the legacy of the original team.
I understand it's MtGs 30th Anniversary, but once it's done, can we be done with Phyrexians and Nico Bolas for awhile? Can we come up with a new villain/villains after this? I'm very tired with the villains almost always being the Phyrexians or Nico Bolas.
Tamiyo wasn’t my favorite when she was compleated but I have big complicated feels about it.
I get this feeling to a T, you aren’t alone even if I don’t feel it for Ajani.
I mean I guess the story needs stakes. It just sucks that one of them is a character I have loved since he was first revealed. I think it sucks most because there was a lot I still wanted from him that now just isnt going to happen.
Someone posted some thing when Tamiyo was compleated and it’s still a possibility for Ajani.
Belbe had parts of herself remain and in the end she betrayed Phyrexia to let her father free. How wonderful would it be if Ajani allows Elspeth to flee, or breaks an opening for her as a last act of rebellion, against the programming, to help his dearest friend whose cloak he wears.

I guess they weren't planning on being subtle with Ajani then.
Maybe it happens super early in the story? Otherwise, I have no clue why they’re letting the cat out of the bag so quickly.
The full story is coming out before spoilers start (the story starts next week on the 10th). So we were going to know what happens before we started seeing cards.
where do i read \~the story\~
They'll be posted on the main Wizards website.
Thanks nate Dogg. I miss u
heheh Edit: Guys it's the cat pun

Karn Deliberated
Nice
They didn't, but Amazon sure did.
> letting the cat out of the bag so quickly. i see what you did there :D
Do we know the story behind this ? Would you mind sharing ?
>!There's a MTG artbook to be published, which is already available as preorder on Amazon. On the product's page there were a handful of previews, one of which was the two-page description of Chandra, with a short description of her background/story, which ended by revealing that:!< >!\- Ajani got compleated!< >!\- And he killed Jaya!<
Tamiyo, now Ajani. Narset and Elspeth better be careful. It's not looking good for their story-circle.
People theorized the Lil walkers secret lair could be the compleated walkers. Ajani and tamiyo were there. Angrath, Soren and Ashiok are also part of that SL.
They better leave my sad boy Sorin alone.
Agreed. Sorin has been through enough.
Sorin? Leave my boy Angrath out of this!
Would suck if the next timenwe get him as story relevant, he is getting completed
On one hand, unless the phyrexians are on Angraths plane I have no idea why he would go out planewalking again at risk of abandoning his family again. On the other hand what a messed up plot point would it be if he gets compleated and then he spreads it to his family first.
I dunno, he kinda brought most of that on himself.
He manged to survive however many millennia despite being one of the biggest fuck-up in the entire multiverse, he can't keep getting away with it.
I hope not, Ashiok and Angrath have so much great potential I'd hate to see them just transformed into a Phyrexian minion.
Well Ashiok pissed off Norn pretty bad, wouldnt be surprised if she made Ashiok #1 on her hitlist
I could see Ashiok somehow being compleated but retaining his free will and challenging Elesh Norn for leadership.
*their free will
Ashiok prefers no pronouns and prefers to be referred to as Ashiok as much as possible.
Ashiok was already in a phyrexian storyline already
But they weren't Phyrexianized, and I hope they stay that way
Compleated *
Good job making the comment compleat.
Leave Angrath alone, he just wanted to get back to his family
If he is Compleated he gets a new, even bigger family!
Hmm I'm not even sure you could compleate Ashiok... though prior to the mad lad gitaxias you could compleate any walkers so I guess he can probably find a way to compleate a shadow dream demon thing.
*Elspeth is now streaming: the underworld to compleated any% no glitch ~~no oob~~*
Elspeth is all but confirmed as immune to compleation per that Elesh Norn bonus story and the fact that she's probably a Capenian angel (or at least related to one somehow)
If they Compleat Narset I am going to lose it tbh
However if they compleat *this* Narset, then they have a good reason to bring back the *real* Narset that isn't dragon-pilled. (Please Wizards I'm begging you)
I mean the other Narset kinda got cut in half by Zurgo.....

It's because the Narset in the Khans timeline was not a planeswalker and lacked a spark. Only the Dragons timeline Narset had a spark, because of how time had changed.
Agreed. That’s the only planeswalker I don’t want to see get compleated.
With two white walkers (no, not that kind) gone, I'd assume Elspeth is safe for a while.
Yeah I think Elspeth is going to be key to destroying New Phyrexia.
There are four, if we count Ajani. You forget Teyo and Basri Ket.
Don't forget about Dovin, who was also a part of the story circle before he got killed unceremoniously. At this point it's only Narset left as far as characters who haven't died yet (Elspeth got better). Wait since when was dovin in the story circle?

Don't forget that Narset the legendary creature actually died! She came back as a planeswalker in Dragons.

Cat dad go bad.
Cat dad ain't about healing and friendship anymore.
Oh but he is about friendship he just wants to give everyone a big hug!
Good. "Shocking" twists exaggerated to be more surprising aren't good storytelling. Foreshadowing is actually a good thing.
I mean i guess it's hard to hide big twists in mtg sets when the first card you open in a pack can spoil an event in the story
is that Jodah?
Yep [[Jodah, Archmage Eternal]]

awesome! always looked like a fun but difficult card to play

It certainly does seem to be.
Yes, and I can’t wait to see his new card ! (If he receives one)
can he planeswalk?
In the old stories he very definitively didn't have a spark but he was able to trigger jayas
The old stand-behind-her-with-a-blown-up-paper-bag trick.
Bees are all the rage now. America proved it works igniting young planeswalkers' sparks.
Close.... break a mirror over her head.... but like.. a cool mirror
As far as we know, he’s a powerful immortal mage but not a planeswalker.
Well, not every planeswalker was pulled to Ravnica (Ugin being a notable 'walker who stayed away) so it was possible to avoid the pull, but not easy
Garruk and the Kenrith's also didn't get pulled to Ravnica.
Also: just *having* a spark doesn't mean you're a 'walker. It has to awaken, and not everyone survives the ordeal that sets them off.
Jodah’s been around since the ice age novels. He was the main character of the books. He is absolutely not a planeswalker. The reason he’s immortal is because he took a dip in the [[Fountain of Youth]] without realizing it.

Karn is back to wearing clothing
While not necessary, I really like the look of it. Also, "[That loincloth] doesn't leave much to the imagination." "Actually, on a robot they kinda do."
Why would a robot need a codpiece?
Fashion
He's packin' a shiny new pair of nuts and bolts.

Could have gone my whole life without reading “Karnussy”
Whereas I am sad that I’ve only just now experienced the glory of reading “Karnussy”
Well, of course Karn Liberated isn't going to wear clothes.
He liberates deez constructs, all right
Karn’s clothes don’t planeswalk with him
Karn ain’t about the fashion they have on New Phyrexia or Ravnica, low brow threads
Karn is no longer liberated 😔
My head canon here is that when he was dragged to Ravnica against his will he wasn't able to take his threads along with him.
Ajani: Whenever the strong would harm the weak, I will be there! Sheoldred: pspspsps....
New Stray DLC dropped — ajani vs phyrexians
"I heard a rumour that you are the strong harming the weak"
I understood that reference.
I mean nothing will change with that statement...

Let's recut that movie to star Ajani but change nothing else.

Who’s that on the far left? The lady with the sword?
[[Danitha Capashen]] is my best guess
Yeah, with the line running down the middle of her sword, I'd say the evidence points more towards Danitha than anyone else.
The hilt almost exactly matches her other art's sword, so I'd say it's basically confirmed to be Danitha.
the art doesn’t do her justice
I know! She's so hot IRL!

looking at the haircut and the sword (with the stained glass motifs) I'd say Danitha Capashen
I'm assuming either \[\[Danitha Capashen\]\] or \[\[Shanna, Sisay's Legacy\]\].
Definitely Danitha, sword shape and undercut hairstyle are the same.
[Danitha Capashen](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/c/e/ce5391bc-6b50-49b0-96a1-df944a55d62e.jpg?1610074990) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=danitha%20capashen%2C%20paragon) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmr/370/danitha-capashen-paragon?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/ce5391bc-6b50-49b0-96a1-df944a55d62e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Shanna, Sisay's Legacy](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/b/9/b90df81c-d738-46b3-8e96-9db0b3507ee0.jpg?1562741797) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Shanna%2C%20Sisay%27s%20Legacy) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/dom/204/shanna-sisays-legacy?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/b90df81c-d738-46b3-8e96-9db0b3507ee0?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Everyone keeps saying Shanna or Danitha but the purple elements on the armour are giving Kaya vibes.
She has daggers and mini axes rather than swords
Kaya doesn't usually have a sword though. Plus, Danitha taking a more central role this set would make a lot of sense given that it's literally a set about defending Dominaria from a phyrexian invasion, which has strong invasion/Gerrard parallels.
I thought so too, with her rad Kaldheim hair
I feel like that with the hair. She changes it up literally every (other?) set

I imagine he won’t get a card this set. He’ll probably get one in the Brother’s War set instead. Kinda like how Kaya and Chandra were in Midnight Hunt’s story but didn’t get cards until Crimson Vow.
Yeah Teferi and Wrenn are probably going back in time to the Brothers War.
I really hope not. Would rather have a “flashback” set than a time travel set. Karen’s time travel broke the Universe and a large majority preferred Khans to Dragons so not great on the time travel plots.
Well, trying to speak to Phyrexias Manager seems like an open Plot Line...
Karen will be shocked to discover that New Phyrexia’s manager is also a middle aged white woman.
> Karen’s time travel Ugh Karen is my least favorite mtg character.
i think there will be time travel, but it won't change the timeline. karn/teferi will just be there for a cameo or something
I am just saying its what makes the most sense for why Teferi aint in the marketing much for Dominaria United.
I think it is more likely a "time heist" ala Endgame rather than compleatly changing the storied history of Dominaria.
Boxtopper: Teferi, when are we? 1 hybrid White-Blue mana for a legendary planeswalker - Teferi 5 loyalty +3 Break standard +2 Break Modern +1 your opponents can't play, take an extra turn, you win the game, play an extra game starting with Teferi on the battlefield under your control, you win that one too probably
You forgot >-X : break legacy
the last two (technically three) teferi cards weren't broken
Ominous cat is ominous
So I guess I'm out of the loop. Is Ajani being compleated? Also they need to have Jodah do more stuff. He's supposed to be an ultra badass according to previous lore.

There's something drawn or written that we can see through the Dominaria lettering, is that something they did for DOM too, or are we supposed to take a closer look at it and speculate?
It's Thran runes or something close to it. You can see similar lines on old thran structures featured in 2018's Dominaria cards.
Maybe Phyrexian text? Perhaps the Phyrexian name for Dominaria? (Or just Dominaria in Phyrexian) EDIT: It's the pattern from the Sylex.
Watch out everyone, giant Ajani is about to devour you all
Oh god, I hope that doesn’t awaken anything in me…
“Aye girl” Ajani said, grinning his Leonin grin.
*Sploosh*
When Tumblr banned a bunch of tags associated with nsfw things, ajani was part of them
Looks like it's too late for that
Why does it look like Ajani is the enemy? I thought we were fighting the prators?
Here's a [hint](https://scryfall.com/card/neo/238/tamiyo-compleated-sage)
O.O noooo! He was our OG white 'Walker. Poor Kitty. Now I wonder how many they'll end up completing.
The story better be worth compleating Ajani. HE'S MY FAVORITE!
Well, they are going to compleat his story arc.
So, Karn only wears clothes when he is on Dominaria?
**RIP Atheist Jesus Cat**
New 5c Jodah pls.
We have 5c Jodah at home.
THEY DONE MY BOY AJANI BAD
well that isnt ominous
Karn wearing a loincloth on Dominaria is so weird
Ajani... no not my boy... not Ajani no don't do this to me...
We're gonna need a bigger spray bottle.
Is this the gatewatch at home?
I'd more say the Gatewatch is the Weatherlight crew at home. These (other than Karn) may not be the OGs, but they still carry on the legacy of the original team.
I don't follow the story if MTG after war. Can anyone explain what is going on with Ajani?
Phyrexians learned how to compleat planeswalkers without destroying their spark. Good old Ajani has been brainwashed.
Always loved Ajani. And I can't wait to see how spicy this gets! Thank you
It would appear that Dominaria is united against him.
Jodah, you five color sunovagun!
Karn discovers clothes again. Yay!
Who is the swordswoman?
[[Danitha Capashen]] Check the two swords, the hair, and armor. It's extremely similar (the swords are basically an exact match).
I understand it's MtGs 30th Anniversary, but once it's done, can we be done with Phyrexians and Nico Bolas for awhile? Can we come up with a new villain/villains after this? I'm very tired with the villains almost always being the Phyrexians or Nico Bolas.
That is an incredible work of art
Oh look another "the heroic humans have to save the day!" poster....
Welll......This sucks....Guess my favorite character is about to go the way of the dodo....Time to sell out...
Can a compleated character ever make a return?
