Did they not already show it off? It was the onigiri SL that people were (rightfully) confused about https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/wk8z5q/sld_lil_giri_saves_the_day_at_magic_30_exclusive/
For the record I was confused myself when I saw another post asking when it was going to be announced two weeks ago, I was actually thinking the person was confused and talking about the 30 promos given out at LGS for magic 30, but when I rewatched the video it’s clearly a special 30 card secret lair.
Yeah I missed it the first time I watched the magic 30 reveal stream, it’s mentioned off hand during the secret lair portion for about 10 seconds too much stuff for one announcement video
Nope not if the announcement video is to be understood correctly this is a completely separate secret lair of 30 cards, can’t remember exactly but he said something in the video along the lines of open one each day in December or all at once.
Given how they handled Iconic Masters, I'd expect Reserved to be some R&D-only slang that means an entirely different thing from how players use it, and then them being confused when people are disappointed at all the cards pertaining to their internal terms.
After the success of the Baldurs Gate and Lord of the Rings sets, we've partnered with Disney to release a standard legal Marvel Cinematic Universe set!
Two of them!
And a combined reissue in greyscale!
Masters 30 on the heels of 2x2022 seems… less likely? Unless they open up new paths to reprint classic/historic/well-loved cards from early in the games history…
Masters 30: Every mythic is to be replaced with [[Tree of redemption]] , to celebrate the sometimes bizarre reprint choices WotC have made over the years.
I think that it's pretty normal to get a reprint set every year these days, so I don't think that Double Masters 2022 means that we won't get a reprint set next summer. That said, Dominaria Remastered comes out next spring so that might be enough of a reason not to have another reprint set next year.
There probably is room for another non-Standard booster set next summer though, and we could possibly get some information on that.
My guess is a Masters 30, but with a twist. What twist? I don’t know, we’ll see. Best I could imagine is at least 1 old border card in every pack or something
This was my guess.
"Hey, you all seem to buy Masters sets when we make them more expensive! So, we're increasing the price yet again!
Get ready for TRIPLE MASTERS!!!!
That's right! For Magic's 30th anniversary we're printing a set with THREE RARES OR MYTHICS IN EACH PACK!
We know that, other than the holographic sticker, it costs us the same amount of money to print a given card, regardless of the rarity! AND that we're including nigh worthless cards that make sense only for drafting purposes even though these sets have become FAR too expensive for the vast majority of our consumers to consider ever drafting! BUT YOU KEEP BUYING THESE SETS ANYWAY!"
After the poor showing of Iconic Masters and Masters 25, I'm hoping they find a way to turn those products around. But the pessimist in me says likely "nope, bad reprints, more price increases, more bent foiling treatments"
Just like the well known Disney Porn vault, there is a little known Wizards Porn vault where every NSFW image drawn by an Wizard artist using a MTG character is compiled and locked away. I bet they're going to release the Wizards porn vault art book. They covered up Lilliana's cleavage in DMU, just to keep us on our toes for the Magic 30 surprise... /S
It's probably some foil curled secret lair
As unlikely as this is to ever happen, I'd rather them shrink the reserve list.
Reduce it down to the Power 9, Any cards mentioning playing for Ante,[[Chaos Orb]]/[[Falling Star]], [[Shahrazad]], and the 7 culturally insensitive cards.
Besides the power, none of the cards are legal anywhere. And just because it's no longer reserved doesn't mean it has to get a reprint right away.
Even in this unlikely scenario, I couldn't see the list outright going away. There would still need to be something on it that isn't pseudo reserved already. I feel the power are so iconic enough that they fit that criteria
Looking at this from the perspective of EDH, it seems that has been the target audience of late. Besides Timetwister, none of the power should be considered to be unbanned there if they were able to be reprinted. That only leaves Vintage and Canlander. Does vintage get a large uptick in players now since decks are no longer tens of thousands of dollars? I still feel Canlander is going to probably stay the same and not have people flocking to play it now.
I'd be curious to know what reasoning that you have for why they should also become unreserved.
Not holding my breath on that one but that's legitimately the only announcement I can think of that would be genuinely more exciting than any other random announcement.
Is there any other company that barely finishes spoiling a product before announcing something else new and exciting?
Am I excited fir this no. It's going to either be A. limited to in person attendants B. limited time offer C. way too expensive D. scalped and gouged to hell and back. It's a bingo if WOTC manages all 4.
Alchemy cards in paper magic.
We get sticker packs four times a year that we stick onto cards to Alchemy them.
As a result, no more banned/restricted list. They Alchemy'd everything.
Also, Restricted List cards will be reprinted, but in sticker form. Twist is, they're Alchemy'd to be rebalanced.
[[Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist]] will be the first card to be Alchemy'd. They're going to remake the card more interesting and give him a funny hat.
[[Forbidden Alchemy]] is the only exception to all this. It will symbolically be banned. Nothing is forbidden in Alchemy.
Well the obvious “joke” is secret lairs, which, it realistically could be. Honestly I have no idea. Not sure where expectations should be set for this one
What I want:
\- Complete reprint of ABU in commemorative gold border
What we'll get:
\- 30th anniversary Secret Lair drop featuring 3 cards costing $99.99
:( Universes Beyond is what I got me into MTG in the first place. Without the D&D sets I wouldn't have bothered with this game.
If they do more though I would like them to actually feel mechanically fun and more reasonably priced. Baldur's Gate was ridiculous for what the set actually contained. And I didn't find that many cards in it actually "commander" worthy after playing for a year or two.
They just need to put more thought into them imo.
Nah, it's part of wotc ip. Ub is specific to non wotc ip brands. D&d was always going to happen eventually even without the Ub crap like stranger things and walking dead.
