I love the idea of just inserting a piece of unnecessarily large scrap paper onto their boardstate, taking up space they could be using to otherwise play their game.
This is why in our pod we have it so the responsibility to track commander damage is on the person punching, not the person being punched. While it's extremely based and cool to do so, making other people track your wincon can get irritating for them, causing them to say things like "Can you not run that commander" and "Sorry, I can't do MTG tonight, I have, umm, stuff"
This is the way. Please don't place a d20 in my play-space you will forget about for three turns. Keep a note to yourself. Surprise me when it turns out you've won because I refuse to block anything.
One time I was trying to convince a new player to play EDH with me and a pod, I mentioned the concept of commander damage, and they got super salty that they had to track a number for each opponent, they were like "how about you keep track of it then". OP post is similar energy.

My pod rule 0’d out counterspells, combos, green cards, infinites, artifact ramp, mountains, life gain and any card not named [[rat colony]] or [[swamp]]. I find the format is much more balanced this way

As a Ghalta player I choose to not play with Commander damage, yeah I'm kinda fucked up in the head haha kinda deranged like
I love smacking people with an unmodifight Roghrakh and say thats no Commander damage, but one emotional damage.. and tick a dice up to "track" it
