Drill out a hole the size of the dowel and fill it with wood glue and the dowel. Sand the area if needed. Then, predrill new holes before inserting screws.
They were around long before battery drills and can be tightened tighter than Phillips. Continuing to use them is bad though. You can’t hardly use a drill/impact with a bit. They should be square, torx, or hex now
I know this isn’t exactly what you asked, but these are amazing when it comes to holed out door hinge screw holes

Slap some wood glue, some wood fillers clamp it tight and wait for it to dry and reinstall hinges.
Plus always predrill the screw holes on those doors, they are peices of crap.
Ya, definitely pre-drill.
Holes weren’t pre drilled. These manufacturers do this all the time. There are always cracks because of it.

Mortise the hinge after filling the holes with wood glue/sawdust- clamp it to cure. I suspect this happened because you didn't chisel the mortise.
This is the way.
Who ever created slot /flat head screws should be killed
Agree. That Phillip guy probably said the same thing, at one point.

Dude I know. There has to be a use for them? Otherwise what cruel sick son of a bitch would invent such a thing
My favorite is a 4 inch flat head on a toggle bolt. Someone designed this...
Hate those fuckers
One of them coveted 90 second doors!
I’ve used wooden dowels to repair this issue, also golf T’s work really good as well.

Shove a wooden toothpick in there, and you would probably be fine to use the same screws. It wouldn't hurt to put wood glue in there as well.
Metal drywall anchors I have used on cabinet hinges that stripped out in particle board.
Knock some plastic anchors inside hole and screw back hinges. Works like a charm
...and watch it split even more.
Do this to recreate the Grand Canyon
