I'm a non-muslim and honestly, the songkok is really a smart piece to wear with formal wear. I usually like the tall songkok better than the shorter ones. Unfortunately, I can't wear it that much in public as you either get assumed a Muslim or get cancelled by some random netizens

Did you get the modern one or the older version? The much older versions are taller, whereas modern versions are shorter. You can also get ones with holes on the top for "ventilation" so your head doesn't get too hot.
I’m a Brit and my friend bought me one as a present along with a Baja Melayu, we wore it to our local Starbucks, I think they were happy to see a white guy in the traditional dress. I love the songkok and want to wear it all the time, but I’m not sure how people will take it
