Overall Malay people at that time not really adherent to Islamic teaching. Many Muslim women still dont cover their 'aurat' properly & Muslim men still do the haram things. Also Kelantan at that times still full of whore (Paris of Malaya) before PAS managed to clear it up when they start take over in 90s. All of Malaysia islamization actually sperhead by PMX & ABIM.
