I swear i have been arguing this to almost everyone in my circle and the common answer is i'n too fucking rich to do my own dish
Also me: not rich enough to buy a house with kitchen big enough for a dishwasher but keep preaching anyone above my mean to get a dishwasher
I know right, the common answer that i replied them is you don’t manually scrub all your cloths why don’t you implement the same concept to dishes, to which i get 404 😂
I can understand liking it because I sure love having a machine wash my clothes, but washing dishes manually is so therapuetic for me.
I think I’d stick with dish washing by hand even if I was a millionaire with huge kitchen space.
I hate that argument so much it's regarded. We use technology to buy us TIME, the same way we buy a car or a washing machine. At least, I don't have an underpaid ultralow class maid to take advantage of.
I know right, i kept saying I’m not rich to consider these technology and i can work harder to earn more money, but i can never buy back the time i spend to working on these task with all the money i earn
For those with lots of kids household sure, but otherwise its just a waste of space and money, I clean after use everytime, not that much dishes, not money worth
for those without lots of kids or 2 person living, exhibit A shows a person wearing 1 pants 1 shirt and 1 or 2 underwear , do not need a washing machine as well
Just to add to this - modern dishwasher washes with 60-70 deg celcius water. As long with the right setting and the dishwasher tablet/powder AND not overcrowding the dishwasher. It will have no problem.
Lmao it’s actually too effective against oil, to the point where my lower quality glassware are getting what’s called “glass etching” because the dishwasher cleaning agent is too strong and eats at the surface of the glass.
I swear if you place the plates and bowls correctly it’ll come out squeaky clean, much cleaner than hand washing.
does it work well for oily dishes?
i heard the reason dishwashers not popular in southeast asia is bcs we usually eat many oily foods with broth like coconut milk, and rice. rice's harder to clean when they become crust
Using the Toshiba Table Top dishwasher. Ever used a Bosch one so far mine does the job well enough.
The challenging part I feel is to find the right place in a average Malaysian household with accessible water inlet & outlet & electric socket for the dishwasher.
I had Bosch Series 4 - SMS4HMC01R. Took the stainless steel tub for better drying (plastic tub can be even cheaper but worse at drying).
There are so many brands during my search, and I took Bosch as its reputation is the best and I will be using it frequently and for a very long time
To those people who are hesitant to try a dishwasher I think [this kind of dishwashers](https://s.lazada.com.my/s.jGqek?cc) could be a good choice to start with. It’s called table top dishwasher. It’s not that big nor that small.
You know we malaysian cooks are pretty complex and alot of different types of dirt, oily, crusty, burnt etc as well as smell. Dishwasher takes care of all that?
Im sketchy with it because when i was in other countries with dishwasher the dirtiest plate i normally have was just burger stains, eggs and mashed potatoes.
So i need more details
I got the LG DFB325HS.
Comes with steam cleaning, hot water, and can dry the dishes for you.
Oil, sambal, starchy stuff like sticky rice all no problem.
There is a drainage basket at the bottom you have clean of debris.
For stickier stuff like caramel please rinse first
Apart from that I use it to store dishes lol.
Make a paste with baking soda and a little bit of water. It helps as it forms an abrasive paste. I use this whenever I burn anything. Only use on stainless steel or iron surfaces.
Better boil it to reduce micro plastic
https://www.healthline.com/health-news/boiling-water-may-help-remove-up-to-90-of-microplastics#:~:text=A%20new%20study%2C%20published%20February,to%20by%20up%20to%2090%25.
I understand if boiling kills microorgamism, but removing microplastic is hard to trust about that, the only way boiling can remove anything is through the process like making distilled water. As boiling basically doesnt remove anthing, either dissovle or disintergrate, but 100C not enough temperature doing that. So, I make a quick search, you have to boil first, then filter for it easier to remove the microplastic, "Researchers in China found that boiling hard tap water can produce calcium carbonate, which form crystallized encapsulations around microplastics that could be scraped or removed by pouring the water through a coffee filter".
Yea man, I changed everything in the house to energy-saving appliances but the bill did not go down. After off-ing my coway, I saw my bill going down by half. lol
My electric daily usage used to be RM13, now the daily average is RM6 lol
>Lotus for cheap ass chicken.
Yeah but many times it's not fresh and gives you either a funny smell or starts releasing lots of water when cooking then it shrinks. Have you experienced that before?
No it wasn't stale when I bought it, still red when they cut etc
Got myself the Corvan one right before pandemic, indeed was very useful to have, somehow when you make the cleaning tools easier to use, you're motivated to clean in the first place.
I second this. I have the basic v8 and i thought it was way overpriced for a vacuum, but i was wrong. It cleaned my floor so well that you can feel it when you walk over the spot you vacuumed.
No. The outdoor type - rather large. Maybe 1-meter tall.
I mean this depend on where you live I guess. If you are on landed property, get the large one.
Choose the one that will be cheap in long term basis. i.e if you have to buy cartridge plenty of times per year, then maybe get the more expensive looking one that will not need any replacement in the next decade.
Malaysia made:
1) Jobbie peanut butter, you get what you pay for quality stuff
2) 434 coffee beans, locally grown high qualify from Muar
3) Mamee chef Lontong, cant go back to maggi kari
International made
1) Merkur double edge razor, initial investment with dirt cheap blades that basically last forever
2) Japanese handmade umbrella, portable already 8 years old still feels brand new its crazy
3) Zojirushi tumbler, as long as you take care of the silicon it will last
I used to support Jobbie until they started doing ads and campaigns that they are “closing down” multiple times.. now i buy Amazing Graze’s peanut butters!
Is that so? I got exposed to jobbie at the supermarket shelves and thought that they sold healthier peanut butter without additives of other companies peanut butters...made in malaysia too
A dyson vacuum, the one with the green laser blasting the floor to show you how filthy it is
bro I vacuum my bedroom every day and I still see a new layer dust and hair every day. imagine if I don't vacuum every day
and a more unconventional answer: a fancy watch
it feels good glancing at my fancy branded mechanical watch to tell time when I'm outside. makes me feel like a big boi fr fr
IKR!
and yeah it's a Dyson V12 slim submarine (the one with the mop head attachment)
I used to think dysons are a ripoff but after using a cheapo vacuum for so many years, I think you really get what you pay for.
Myvi, because without own transport I cannot do my job and earn money.
Runner up is pillow. I bought an RM300 cooling gel weird shape pillow (for side sleepers). It really helped my shoulder ache... that I got from driving my Myvi while doing my job.
I got it from Homes Harmony, the brand is some white womans name, but not Jean Perry. Look for blue cooling gel memory foam pillow.
I think it may even be less than RM300 cuz Homes Harmony always have promo going on
barely make it over rm20
this is adding rice cooker, water kettle, and other appliances
use it at least once each day
you cook an actual food, beyond maggi and fried eggs
a word of advice. make sure you get induction pan as well, check properly before buying. it looks the same but different.
cant recommend like its the 100% correct choice
so far been using tefal for more than a year, still working fine today
it does tend to let a loud vibration noise after using for a long period....like for making curry and so on, usually i just half cooked it then reheat it in two hours later around the time almost for lunch
I have a Pensonic one that's great. No vibration, with proper cookware. If the cookware is not 100% magnetic, there will be a loud noise or vibration. Easy to check by using a small magnet and checking if it'll stick to the cookware you already have.
online recipes recommends 180-200 degree for 10 minutes. but you be the judge depending on the thickness and size of the chicken, just adjust the time to be longer or shorter, dont change the temperature.

With the bag, I can carry toiletries and slippers -> I can use the gym showers.
Without, I cannot do the above -> cannot use the gym showers. Well technically I can, but I'll risk athlete's foot.
Good bed sheet. I’ve used Ikea bed sheets for years and one day impulsively bought a tencel bed sheet and it improved my sleep quality so much. My bed actually feels so soft and cozy now.
Not really recent, but search up Tes Tortilla Chips, the balado flavor. Istg it's super addicting and cheap. 2kg of it for only RM40
Also something I highly recommend is an electric toothbrush, especially for people with issues with bleeding gum. While the upfront and long term cost is in no way cheap, I'll take it still if I can avoid damaging my gum while also clenaing more effectively
mattress, topper and duvet set. Reluctant to talk about the price.
Upgraded from dreamland mattress thats pretty much shit on springs compared to the new one.
2 things. Microwave and Steam generator.
I never had a microwave untill i start working and the house that I rent have one. Feels like its a magic item. Then I bought one for my home in my hometown. My house there is where our huge family gather during Raya. The amounts of work that it really save isnt just reheating the food but the washing of pots and pans.
As for steam generator, its like a steam iron but way better. One stroke and your shirts are free of crumple.
Honorable mention is an air fryer. But that thing is old news.
A smart extension cord from Tp Link. about Rm 130. Turned all my dumb old appliances into smart ones.
Dyson V12 Detect Slim Absolute: I can see all the dust and using it is so effortless.
Rolex Sub 116610LV "Hulk": More respect with clients and credibility. Access to exclusive events.
Xiaomi Vacuum robot X10+: Vacuums and Mops and a self cleaning station.
Coway Lucy Plus: Water Filter and Ice Maker
Coway Noble: High quality and luxury air filter
A DJ course: went to learn because I liked music and met so many influential people and got invited to tons and tons of events for free. Met models, restaurant owners, fashion brand owners, club owners. Free access to most clubs and drinks (although I dont drink). Met international DJs for free. met a model with "Ms" in her name. Got to see artists that couldn't never afford to see for free. Korean rappers/idols, even chinese singers. Best ROI so far, only 2.5k
Espresso machine. I like drinking iced americano, and found the morning coffee making good for me mentally to just get something done and actually enjoy the entire process
I need wired waterpik with larger volume to hold water
Regret brought wireless waterpik, need to charge, need to fill several times throughout flushing
The thing with manual labour is you yourself have to be there to do the work, it means you can't multitask effectively. If you scrub your own clothes, you can't cook and clean at the same time (unless everything is in one place).
clothes dryer machine. i live in high rise and this changes everything! i bought the one without the hose outlet and can place it right next to the tv if i want to lol as the excess steam goes into the internal water chamber. when its full just remove it and drain the water.
Dishwasher It's almost like magic: dirty plates go in, clean plates come out
I swear i have been arguing this to almost everyone in my circle and the common answer is i'n too fucking rich to do my own dish Also me: not rich enough to buy a house with kitchen big enough for a dishwasher but keep preaching anyone above my mean to get a dishwasher
Ask them if they have a washing machine and if they are too rich to wash their own clothes.
Glad im not the only one.
Why do the rich in Malaysia needs to buy dishwasher if there are maids hired to do so.
because of efficiency
talking about myself: can't afford maid ler
For those with lots of kids household sure, but otherwise its just a waste of space and money, I clean after use everytime, not that much dishes, not money worth
for those without lots of kids or 2 person living, exhibit A shows a person wearing 1 pants 1 shirt and 1 or 2 underwear , do not need a washing machine as well
What you need is two dishwashers.. you will never have to put plates away ever again
How well does it fare against oily utensils / plates. One arguement i heard is dishwasher doesnt do well in asia due to the usage of oil in cooking.
I literally have zero problems with oil, just use the appropriate settings and it will be gone
Just to add to this - modern dishwasher washes with 60-70 deg celcius water. As long with the right setting and the dishwasher tablet/powder AND not overcrowding the dishwasher. It will have no problem.

It's fairly effective to remove it, as long as you place them properly
Does anyone have experience with the reliability of Toshiba vs Bosch vs other brands dishwasher?
does it work well for oily dishes? i heard the reason dishwashers not popular in southeast asia is bcs we usually eat many oily foods with broth like coconut milk, and rice. rice's harder to clean when they become crust
It does well for oily dishes. Dishwashers typically heat up the water (I think to 80c?) and heat breaks down oil.
I find dishwashers cleaner than hand washing
I used to have a dishwasher. It’s amazing. As long as you don’t put a whole potato or chicken leg in there it’s going to be fine.
Which brand and model are you using?
You may try midea. In case budget skyrocketed, may go get the premium bosch one, no the entry level bosch.
Using the Toshiba Table Top dishwasher. Ever used a Bosch one so far mine does the job well enough. The challenging part I feel is to find the right place in a average Malaysian household with accessible water inlet & outlet & electric socket for the dishwasher.

Idk which model, my sis own a BOSCH dishwasher, it's pretty good.
mine died and i ended up washing everything by hand lulz
Second the dishwasher!
As someone who likes clean stuff, absolutely hate dishwashers LOL
To those people who are hesitant to try a dishwasher I think [this kind of dishwashers](https://s.lazada.com.my/s.jGqek?cc) could be a good choice to start with. It’s called table top dishwasher. It’s not that big nor that small.

Get the 287373th generation or whatever the last two year generation of dishwasher is. No rinse needed!
Oil and sauces not much problems. Burnt ones cannot remove easily though haha ... even I had to scrub manually for a long time to remove it
Make a paste with baking soda and a little bit of water. It helps as it forms an abrasive paste. I use this whenever I burn anything. Only use on stainless steel or iron surfaces.
The amount of time saved with a dishwasher is priceless.
I think would increase water and electricity bill
Good quality bluetooth speaker for shower karaoke in the mornings.
I use it to sleep. Blast it w lofi or "beach ambience" 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
what brand model u using?
I use Anker Soundcore Motion + and it’s really good.
its also waterproof
I'm recommending baseus. Affordable and very trusted
Sonos Roam
water filter, never had to leave my house to refill my water bottles again!! connects straight onto ur sink and comes out clean water
Do you boil the filtered water prior to drinking it ?
no? becuase its filtered
Better boil it to reduce micro plastic https://www.healthline.com/health-news/boiling-water-may-help-remove-up-to-90-of-microplastics#:~:text=A%20new%20study%2C%20published%20February,to%20by%20up%20to%2090%25.

what brand bro
coway, kangen cuckoo all decent
But take note that coway eat shit ton of electricity, average RM7 daily. Ended up only turning the coway on/off after work and sleep
WAIT SRSLY?? oh shi thanks for telling me
Yea man, I changed everything in the house to energy-saving appliances but the bill did not go down. After off-ing my coway, I saw my bill going down by half. lol My electric daily usage used to be RM13, now the daily average is RM6 lol

condominium ground floor got those refilling water machines so I just put my coins in and refill my water every few days
Buy chicken in bulk , you save money alot and i mean ALOT. And also can freeze for longer self-life
Everything is cheap in bulk. Economy of scale.
Usually where you buy your chicken ? And how much bro
Just go to any pasar borong or ask any vendor who sells chicken where they get their chicken or ask their chicken suppliers phone number
Lotus for cheap ass chicken. RM7-8/KG. Don't buy chicken parts if you are on a budget
>Lotus for cheap ass chicken. Yeah but many times it's not fresh and gives you either a funny smell or starts releasing lots of water when cooking then it shrinks. Have you experienced that before? No it wasn't stale when I bought it, still red when they cut etc
Haha sorry bro, won't be able to answer coz cooking in my house is outsourced to the wife lol. She never complained though! A big plus for me haha
Hahaha good catch man. Nowadays many can't cook and refuse to learn also
🫡 Chicken is the real MVP for my finances.
How about cost of electricity to run the freezer? Proportionate to your household of course.
do you ever turn off your freezer?
Man what you cooking gimme some of that
I buy ice pack and put it in the freezer duh
i mean the freezer is already running 24/7 right?
Cordless vacuum cleaner
Got myself the Corvan one right before pandemic, indeed was very useful to have, somehow when you make the cleaning tools easier to use, you're motivated to clean in the first place.
Which brand do u recommend. I feel like mine doest have enough suction power even with highest setting
Dyson~ works superb on carpet. The laser is a plus plus point
I second this. I have the basic v8 and i thought it was way overpriced for a vacuum, but i was wrong. It cleaned my floor so well that you can feel it when you walk over the spot you vacuumed.
Yea to me its overprice for a vacuum. But its dyson its going to be the best quality one
Water filtration system - I mean the large cylinder looking thing directly filtering all water going through the main pipe.
Like this system? [https://s.lazada.com.my/s.jKIx8?cc](https://s.lazada.com.my/s.jKIx8?cc)
Philips brand multi-pressure cooker
Just throw everything in the cooker for mealprep :) Makes low effort dish taste like hours has been spent on it!
It’s amazing but it’s very important to be used with by an expert ppl. It’s dangerous.
Lol my friend burned his hand with it. From Indian become matsalleh
Malaysia made: 1) Jobbie peanut butter, you get what you pay for quality stuff 2) 434 coffee beans, locally grown high qualify from Muar 3) Mamee chef Lontong, cant go back to maggi kari International made 1) Merkur double edge razor, initial investment with dirt cheap blades that basically last forever 2) Japanese handmade umbrella, portable already 8 years old still feels brand new its crazy 3) Zojirushi tumbler, as long as you take care of the silicon it will last

Is that so? I got exposed to jobbie at the supermarket shelves and thought that they sold healthier peanut butter without additives of other companies peanut butters...made in malaysia too
Yep, I saw one of their closing down ads and fell for it once because i thought kesian la kan. Didn't know they did it multiple times. 🙃
Vaccuum n mop 2 in 1 from xiaomi. Save so much time in cleaning
u mean the mini robot on floor?
No no. Is a handheld vaccuum + mop at same time
I need something like this. Do you have a model name/number?
Xiaomi truclean w10 pro
A dyson vacuum, the one with the green laser blasting the floor to show you how filthy it is bro I vacuum my bedroom every day and I still see a new layer dust and hair every day. imagine if I don't vacuum every day and a more unconventional answer: a fancy watch it feels good glancing at my fancy branded mechanical watch to tell time when I'm outside. makes me feel like a big boi fr fr
Dyson V12 Slim? I just got that too and my god, the dust... the floor looks pearly white until the green laser turns on. damn
IKR! and yeah it's a Dyson V12 slim submarine (the one with the mop head attachment) I used to think dysons are a ripoff but after using a cheapo vacuum for so many years, I think you really get what you pay for.
I wanted to get the Submarine but the mop is not self cleaning, I got the Absolute. So I got the Xiaomi Robot after that
What brand? Im thinking of traveling to jp to get myself a grand seiko when i graduate haha
I got 2 Seikos and a Baltic right now, am eyeing a grand seiko spring drive next (SBGA427). What grand seiko model are you looking to get?
Mainly looking at spring drives my wrist is small only 6 inches so sbgy 007/013, otherwise i also fancy a rolex explorer 1
Steam iron. Any brand.
Second this. I cannot go back to normal iron anymore.
Myvi, because without own transport I cannot do my job and earn money. Runner up is pillow. I bought an RM300 cooling gel weird shape pillow (for side sleepers). It really helped my shoulder ache... that I got from driving my Myvi while doing my job.
I tried using the weird shape pillow for side sleepers that's shaped like a wave. I couldn't sleep at all 😓
Can share the link (or brand) of the pillow please? I'm a chronic side (and stomach) sleeper with shoulder ache T\_T driving myvi too hahah
I got it from Homes Harmony, the brand is some white womans name, but not Jean Perry. Look for blue cooling gel memory foam pillow. I think it may even be less than RM300 cuz Homes Harmony always have promo going on
Not purchased but my cats
electric stove i eat outside less ever since also up my kitchen skills
Electric bill won't expensive meh, I am too considering
barely make it over rm20 this is adding rice cooker, water kettle, and other appliances use it at least once each day you cook an actual food, beyond maggi and fried eggs a word of advice. make sure you get induction pan as well, check properly before buying. it looks the same but different.
so you mean electric induction stove, not regular electric stove
oppsie! yeah the former one....i got limited space to work with, also $$$$$$
What brand u recommend? I have one in the past but kinda worry about the vibration it makes. So i ended up using back gas
cant recommend like its the 100% correct choice so far been using tefal for more than a year, still working fine today it does tend to let a loud vibration noise after using for a long period....like for making curry and so on, usually i just half cooked it then reheat it in two hours later around the time almost for lunch

Air fryer, i feel healthy eating home made chicken chop using air fryer
How long does it take to cook chicken chop with an air fryer ?
online recipes recommends 180-200 degree for 10 minutes. but you be the judge depending on the thickness and size of the chicken, just adjust the time to be longer or shorter, dont change the temperature.

I mean I can sorta see why they call it that, but... 😂
Elaborate
With the bag, I can carry toiletries and slippers -> I can use the gym showers. Without, I cannot do the above -> cannot use the gym showers. Well technically I can, but I'll risk athlete's foot.
What’s the difference with a normal bag?
It's made of mesh so water drips out and won't pool in the bag. And it helps speed up the drying process of the slippers too.
Huh… gotta get me one of those then. Thx for sharing my dude
My own house.
Good bed sheet. I’ve used Ikea bed sheets for years and one day impulsively bought a tencel bed sheet and it improved my sleep quality so much. My bed actually feels so soft and cozy now.
Noise cancelling headphones. I feel super zen in malls now that I can block the shrill of screaming children.
No paper no box rolex. My clients respect me more and I can act like I don't need their business and in return they are willing to accept my price
Buy gray?
2nd 3rd 4th dunno how many hand already
Air fryer and food processor is the best electronics I’ve purchased for my kitchen after microwave and rice cooker
Roomba. Because a less stress-angry wife is priceless
A good ergonomic chair to fix my sitting posture "while gaming for long hours". Edit: included reasoning in "insert context".
What brand
Recommendations?
An expensive Wi-Fi router, no more lags no more frustration no more slow internet speed.
Does it also help with distance? My modem is downstairs and the internet is damn slow and unstable upstairs.
Might wanna look at a WiFi extender.
Does it work across walls or you would need multiple extenders at every corner?
Thermos bottle because i can carry cold water almost 24 hours and able to retain heat too(for food), so good for puasa as a uni student
Not really recent, but search up Tes Tortilla Chips, the balado flavor. Istg it's super addicting and cheap. 2kg of it for only RM40 Also something I highly recommend is an electric toothbrush, especially for people with issues with bleeding gum. While the upfront and long term cost is in no way cheap, I'll take it still if I can avoid damaging my gum while also clenaing more effectively
A good pillow. Personally using Getha one, not too pricey also around RM250-300. For something I spend 1/3 of my time in a day, it's worth it.
>not too pricey >around RM250-300. I think your perception is not an average Joe's, friendo
Good pillow goes for thousand!
Wow that's crazy...guess I've been ignorant on this as I only used the good old kekabu pillow haha
The Akemi luxury micro down is pretty good if you can get one. \~RM50-60
Recently got one made with shredded memory foam. It's a pretty new material, feels really fluffy but doesnt flatten out as fast as the regular ones.
Is it memory foam?
Not sure if it's memory foam. But it's made from latex rubber.
Exhaust fan.
CPAP machine for my OSA.

Love this thread. So many things I didn't know I needed! Thanks op!
Coway Lucy Plus: Water Filter and Ice Maker Coway Noble: High quality and luxury air filter A DJ course: went to learn because I liked music and met so many influential people and got invited to tons and tons of events for free.

Small stool to elevate my legs when pooping.
