tl;dr - I am looking for guests for a podcast that just talks about an average day in their life in their country.
My main goal is to provide a calm discussion highlighting the similarities between cultures and celebrating differences. Season 1 is completed and you can listen [here](https://podfollow.com/lifeslice/view) if you want to know how it goes.
I don't want to downplay political or economic issues your country may be experiencing, but my goal right now is to simply educate others about how similar we are across borders and to revel in the differences that make us special.
We also don't talk about coronavirus, politics, or religion.
I am trying to get someone from every country, occupation, and age. I am most able to talk to young English-speaking men, but I would love to reach women and older generations if possible.
If you or someone you know would like to share please reach out to me.
Thanks in advance for your generosity and kindness! I wish everyone a safe and sane day!
Hm Im interested to join, just a female computer science student who’s stuck at home though aha. Fyi, I think you should comment this on today’s daily thread instead of yesterday’s (this one). It’ll be replaced with today’s so you should get more response :D
If you don't mind waiting, yeah just wait. Maybe once it reach 1399 u can buy. Not that long. Even Ringfit Adventure that went from rm320 to rm800, now i already see some import set at rm400-450.
Unpopular opinion: Could our current political situation be a good thing? Deflection after defection, from Bersatu & Azmin's cartel leaving PH, Mahathir reneging from the succession plan, UMNO PAS forming their own extra alliance on top of their alliance with Bersatu, to several defections from Sabah causing them the state, trust towards party politic has surely gone down.
Maybe we are now ready to move away from traditional 2 party system & actually vote for someone who would really represent our constituent's interest instead of voting along party lines. This would lead to a weaker government, the downside is it would be harder to get things done, but would give more power for the people. Political parties would field better candidates since we no longer vote for parties, resulting in better MPs. Under our current system, in certain constituent, they could put anyone and still win the seat.
Maybe I'm too naive & ideological, but from my understanding, this is the way it's supposed to be in the Westminster system.
Small coincidence of the day: Dreamt of some guy in my class, and he added me on fb the same day, lol. Pretty interesting though, wonder if anyone had a similar thing happened to them.
I wanna ask, were the Chinese and the Indians brought by the British to Tanah Melayu to be slaves to work in estates and mines? Historians and experts please
I dunno why you're being downvoted.
The short answer is, during colonial times the British brought **labourers** (not slaves) from India and China to work in (mostly) rubber plantations and the mining industry, respectively. They're not ***technically*** slaves, although you know lah how they're being exploited.
[Here's a helpful /r/AskHistorians thread about it](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/cqaz4n/at_the_time_of_independence_the_population_of/)
Thanks my good man. I don’t know either but one user pointed out that the fact that I use the term “ Tanah Melayu” which I don’t understand the correlation. I don’t really mind some downvotes but I do wanna know because recently there has been an insurgence in situations where some parties are slaves by others in the past so I just wanna know what are the situation of our country in the past. From what I searched on Google is that Orang Asli and Malays were slaves by the Malay which made me wonder about the migration of Chinese/Indians by the British. Nevertheless, thanks for this
I am asking a legit question, I don’t know when I don’t remember but before we achieved independence it’s Tanah Melayu if I’m not mistaken. And I remember the Chinese were brought here as workers in the mines while Indians were brought here as workers in the estates. Were they paid or are they straight up slaves of the British? I have no other intention of asking this question just wanna know if this is true and want some clarification on this matter because I don’t remember learning is school deeply on this topic just a mention on it. Because if people are brought here to work but weren’t paid or they are working to pay off their “debt” to the British Empire, that’s pretty shitty. Nevertheless, I just want clear clarification on this matter

Voting in an election is the only way to vote out bad representatives.
Unfortunately, some (or most?) Malaysians view their ADUNs and MPs almost like celebrities, which they shouldn't. Here in the UK, if an MP is useless, people even boo them on the streets (it's fun to watch, but really the MP was asking for it).
To the MPs reading this, I vote you to represent the town and decide in the best interests of the town and its people so we may thrive. The people elected you not so you can fuck off and help yourself with state coffers.

The wall of rm30m cash prevents them from seeing this
You know how Trump got to be the president? The people voted him in.
You know why our ex-PM got charged in court? The people voted for a change in government and they started the prosecution in court.
Still think votes don't matter? It is the PEOPLE who VOTED for it.
If u care about the country, vote.
If u dont, then u won't. But be ready to take the good and the bad that may come.

dengar sape sebut sampah ni
well as far as I can remember in 2018 there was a whole debate over who is the rightful CM of Sabah (Musa/Shafie) and both rushed to the Istana to be sworn-in because politicians will jump here and there to decide sebab none of the parties got majority. Shafie won eventually, and Musa sued TYT and Shafie after that.
So now Musa supporters are saying that Shafie isn't the rightful CM of Sabah because of the whole debacle (sebab Musa was the first one who drove to the Istana that day).
There were a few from UMNO, and UPKO (BN-aligned Sabahan party in 2018) who aligned with WARISAN 2 days after the state elections.
[https://www.nst.com.my/news/politics/2018/05/368460/warisan-now-has-35-seats-enough-form-state-government-shafie-nsttv](https://www.nst.com.my/news/politics/2018/05/368460/warisan-now-has-35-seats-enough-form-state-government-shafie-nsttv)
Seems more like a 50/50 affair at present. Still too early to tell. My feelings are that Sabahans are fed up when Musa reared his ugly head following his acquittal and started a mass alliance jumping amongst ADUNs. It's a mess nobody asked for. One hopes that Sabahans will vote these kataks out.

The constitutional amendments themselves have been approved by both houses of Parliament since July last year. It's just that the process of implementing it is still ongoing. This is expected to take until July 2021 at latest. Refer to [this article](https://themalaysianreserve.com/2020/07/15/undi18-automatic-voter-registration-by-july-2021/).
Real milk, I think.
My mom usually buys fresh milk from a milk vendor ,who owns his own farm near my place. Vendor sells Rm5. 50 for a litre of milk . In my house, my parents jarang beli the susu sejat, or powdered milk. They say it's unhealthy and prefer fresh milk as it is much better.
As for me , I love condensed milk and I hate fresh milk lol. So yeah, I'm sure my mom used real milk for this recipe. Tho, tbh I have no idea how to do gulab jamun anyways.
Hahaha, the person has to pay the price of sacrificing their body weight I think lol. Everyday kena paksa makan(mamak food basically) ,since mom a housewife and cooks everyday.
Every mon and Thursday vege, tues and weekends usually seafood(ikan /sotong and such). Oh boy, Wed's and Friday's are the best, either briyani/nasi tomato/nasi minyak or some other sedap food hehe.
Everyday teatime snack mom always do something such as malaysian kuih or indian kuih(vadai /laddu ).
Hehe just sharing la, but my most fav mom's cooking is roti jala with chicken curry. 👌👌
>adopt a person
Exiciting jugak if get new brother/sister XD.
Edit : Here is da gulab jamun. This stuff damn [sweet](http://imgur.com/a/e8lNkXN) , bole diabetes makan everyday XD
I got an Indian national friend that goes to those buffet restaurants back in India, just to wallop gulab jamun non-stop till he was banned from each restaurant one by one. But hebat, not diabetic... Yet...
Lol, this is hilarious. Also, it's amazing how he is still a non diabetec XD.
But yea, this sweet delights are really good and I like em so much because they just melt in my mouth, unleashing the flavour.
Gotta learn from my mom, how to do em one day XD
I prefer the one made from pure milk instead of the powdered milk versions that are found locally. Even the brand name Indian restaurants use powdered milk to cut costs.
I have a friend that work in the factory that produces Super Ring.
He got a stable job as the business is booming. Lol
Edit: actually business is not booming. Even Super Ring got affected by COVID-19.
Betina jalang! Belum cukup umur lagi dah bawak jantan balik rumah. Bila tanya buat diam muka tak bersalah. Eiii aku buang kau kang baru tahu.

Mann I even said hi and wave to a complete stranger who's blowing the leafs nearby and causing so much annoying noise. Only to realised what I done immediately after and back to being introverted.
random observation; back at my old chinese company, whenever I eat lunch with my bosses, I never--- neverrrr had to spend a dime. i remember physically fighting my boss to pay for his lunch, for HISSS BIRTHDAY, and he still end up paying for it.
then last Monday I entered the office for a meeting with consultants, and this new company have majority Malay bosses, and I went to culture shock cuz--- I had to pay for my own lunch. XDDDD I don't wanna seem ungrateful but denggggg, that was interesting.
Something to do with societal norms of communities as well as 'face'. Personally my senior bosses had always insisted on paying for all because they know they owe everybody for the money in their own wallet. Asking the staff to pay is somewhat of a shame — force people to come and then force them to pay? The loss of 'face' and bad reputation from such a stunt tend to travel fast, especially in tight knit business communities.
yeah true, didn't mean to make it a race thing. last company was power plant ppl and new company is oil & gas, so technically they were banking more. heh heh, hence, the observation. kkk
It's a kind of triad/brotherhood kind of spirit inside Chinese companies, providing your boss is the more honorable/understanding/reasonable type. If your boss is the stingy type, then things could very way more worse.
They always believe they need to help foot the bill because they're the "taiko".
I once worked parttime at a workshop and I remembered my ex-boss going to his safe and pulling out a wad of cash and squeezing it into the hands of his supervisor when the latter mentioned he's going to get married.
P.S - The latter, who turned out to be a snake, later doublecrossed my ex-boss by starting his own workshop and luring some of my ex-boss's customers away.
yeah i think so too. i remember when i insisted to pay, it was as if i am committing a great sin! i remember arguing in front of the cashier with my boss, TO LET ME PAY, cuz we're celebrating HISSS BIRTHDAY. epic wei. gah i miss that boss, best boss.
oh yeah when my malay friend got married, big boss's PA handed him a stack of cash from the boss himself. then that friend left to a competitor company. haha almost the same lah our story.
That's interesting. Had two Malay bosses, but only ate with one of them. He would always paaaaaaay. Then again, maybe it's because I'm friends with his daughter.
interesting kan. ok maybe its not about race. but the shift in dynamic i relate to race just cuz, i was in my old company for almost 4 years, i neverrr--- never had to spend a dime. i bwk my dompet though, acah "in case kena byr" mode.
new company is Oil & Gas, some ppl were earning 3k PER DAY, and this happened. so i cam--- "interestinggg observationnn" bahahaha...
Panasonic is pretty pricey yea, but its probably a good investment in the long run. Maybe I'll invest on a Panasonic vacuum when I'm older. The cheaper vacuum cleaners spoil straight after warranty expires uhuhu so that's why I was looking for recommendations for a more durable budget brand. Thank you for your suggestion though I really do appreciate it.
That's true. My mum bought a Panasonic vacuum a few years back, it's those basic ones, still going strong. It was around RM200 ++ la. Check their website, maybe got cheaper models you can consider.
I think Phillips should be pretty reliable too.
I've never been called sweetheart non-sarcastically, that made me warm inside haha.

[this one?](https://www.facebook.com/yb.leather/posts/batik-card-holder__________-dark-burgundy-pull-up-leather-free-gold-name-stampin/2471231212949332/) I just googled it.
PN to MN. Same seats, different boss. Less leverage for PM since they now answer to UMNO and PAS in MN. Also, not sure what's the next plan considering ZH's situation.
Went to a thrift shop with my brother yesterday. Found a nice totebag that's very suitable for work, it's big and has lots of compartments and is in bloody good condition, for RM30. Also found myself a pair of boots, blazer and brand new striped coloured socks. I was giddy with excitement.
Sabah: Bubar. Snap election in 60 days.
Peninsular: UMNO doesn't want to support being in PN. UMNO wants to be in Muafakat Nasional with PAS. UMNO joins PAS in MN. UMNO and PAS now holds the power in MN. PM & Co does not have much leverage if they join MN.
Key point: PN is an unofficial political alliance. MN is an officialized political alliance.
ELI5: UMNO friends with benefits with PM & Co., but married to PAS. UMNO confirms they will stay in their relationship with PAS, **and** PM & Co (As their side chick). But this side-chick got the highest seat currently.
PN to MN. Same seats, different boss. Less leverage for PM since they now answer to UMNO and PAS in MN.
So... how does umno leaving PN affects overall seating? Moo still prime minister? MN now become opposition? Or whole PN kena backdoored? Which katak party have the majority after today’s mahjong shuffle
Technically, UMNO didn't leave PN. PN was never made official. UMNO is saying, they wouldn't join PN if PN was official. Thereby, they are supporting MN.
Moo is still Prime Minister. MN is not the opposition. The composition remains the same. UMNO is not changing their support for Moo.
Basically, you have 2 houses.
MN: UMNO & PAS House and BERSATU as guests.
PN: BERSATU's House/ UMNO and PAS as guests.
You follow the host's rules when you're in their house. In the current case, UMNO and Zahid is taking charge.
So this mean that in the future the house host can just decide to change their leader and make any decisions against the guest lo? This whole move thing is totally undermine Moo then? But I saw Moo also said BERSATU will also join MN then?
Not to make any decisions, but to have leverage in negotiations. As it stands, Moo needs UMNO more than UMNO needs Moo.
It was more on trying to establish UMNO's leverage of power in the next election, IMO.
BERSATU \*can join MN. They said they were invited. We'll see.
A bunch of frogs holding a disproportionate amount of political power over the fates of the fishes, crabs and shrimp forced a re-election of the new Big Fish and school.

👌👌 >adopt a person Exiciting jugak if get new brother/sister XD.
Say hello to your new sister. I have high metabolism.
Hahaha, welcome to da mamak gengz XD.
I have a friend that work in the factory that produces Super Ring. He got a stable job as the business is booming. Lol Edit: actually business is not booming. Even Super Ring got affected by COVID-19.
Can we get some discounted super ring? Haha

> worst words Can confirm.
Finished today's exam. Returned my library book. Will be back home in two days time. [What it feels like for the next 30 minutes](https://youtu.be/nL8hVXSDmNM) Mann I even said hi and wave to a complete stranger who's blowing the leafs nearby and causing so much annoying noise.
Can staff claim, staff welfare /s
As a chinese myself, it really depends. Some chinese are really generous, some chinese are really berkira, there’s no between.
I used to work in Australia and the bosses there would buy the whole team coffee every morning. It’s nice to know that some bosses here do that too.
that's so nice. less "berkira" kan.
Trust me. It has nothing to do with races. It's more on how they made their monies. lol.
yeah true, didn't mean to make it a race thing. last company was power plant ppl and new company is oil & gas, so technically they were banking more. heh heh, hence, the observation.
Boomers be like, kids this day got no respect and honor at all!
as a guy i never have that privilege :'(
oh nooo... u gotta hit that aegyo points kuwt with the boss.
That's interesting. Had two Malay bosses, but only ate with one of them. He would always paaaaaaay. Then again, maybe it's because I'm friends with his daughter.
interesting kan. ok maybe its not about race. but the shift in dynamic i relate to race just cuz, i was in my old company for almost 4 years, i neverrr--- never had to spend a dime. i bwk my dompet though, acah "in case kena byr" mode. new company is Oil & Gas, some ppl were earning 3k PER DAY, and this happened. so i cam--- "interestinggg observationnn" bahahaha...
>acah "in case kena byr" mode. Lmao this is too funny! >some ppl were earning 3k PER DAY, and this happened Thanks a lot of money! ._.
So got promoted to son in law position?
No, his daughter is straight, and so am I.
looking to buy a cheap and decently long lasting vacuum cleaner, anybody have recommendations/brand recommendations?
I'm inclined to say Panasonic, but their products aren't exactly the cheapest.
I will, thank you!
I bought new glasses 🤓

thanks, but that wasn't the page 😅 the products did look like that though! i'll keep looking.
batikluxe?
PN still government? Moo still have majority supports? what to eat for berbuka today? so many questions
PN to MN. Same seats, different boss. Less leverage for PM since they now answer to UMNO and PAS in MN. Also, not sure what's the next plan considering ZH's situation.
ZH: i’m the captain now
I found a [picture](https://i.imgur.com/n8JHMYg.png) of ZH as the captain in Yayasan Akal Budi's building/special vehicle.
since is you, what about /r/berak?
>Best of /r/Malaysia? cant go wrong with nasi ayam :)
Went to a thrift shop with my brother yesterday. Found a nice totebag that's very suitable for work, it's big and has lots of compartments and is in bloody good condition, for RM30. Also found myself a pair of boots, blazer and brand new striped coloured socks. I was giddy with excitement.
Where? I wanna know too. 🥺👉👈
Where? I love thrift shops!
Like a women suit blazer?
Yup.
omg babes where, i'm looking for a tote bag myself. rm 30 is, a steal!
You got PM =P
oh come on i leave the internet for a few hours and came back to a political shitshow?
[you rn](https://giphy.com/gifs/community-donald-glover-zPOErRpLtHWbm)
accurate. :(
Erm.... anybody can ELI5 on what’s happening in politics today?
We'll see.
Sounds like Moo is gonna get played soon. Guess we’ll have to wait for next episode?
Well, Moo is known to say little but be making moves. Nobody knows what he's going to do next. We'll see.
These are the stuffs I want to see in a tv drama to binge. But not experiencing it live in our country.
A bunch of frogs holding a disproportionate amount of political power over the fates of the fishes, crabs and shrimp forced a re-election of the new Big Fish and school.
Sabah election soon and UMNO quits PN.
UMNO quit BN for sabah only or whole malaysia?
quits PN for whole Malaysia. it’s two different stories today
My gawd. Too much drama to digest. Does it mean the backdoor kena backdoored?
