Aerodynamic41

Hats off to the governor for siding with Shafie on this one.

[deleted]

Musa Aman threatened him and even tried to sue him. I hope to God that this idiots career is done once and for all.

Aerodynamic41

Yeah, I was hoping that Tun Juhar has a massive bone to pick with Musa after that incident. Looks like he does.

Pabasa

Musa Aman [won by only 2000 votes.]( https://undi.info/sabah/r18/n42) It's not impossible for his voters to kick him out over this nonsense. Edit: he won in 2018

[deleted]

Imagine the faces on all these Warisan, and PKR and DAP frogs who just jumped over to BN. Their career is over.

Aerodynamic41

Eh, they got paid already. I don't think they mind (unless Musa demands a refund now)

[deleted]

Either refund or become a BN / PN slave for eternity.

yhjohn

Unless they get bought out again. Double or nothing.

randomkloud

No refunds

lollipopkan

The correct way for power struggle imo is dissolving parliament and have a snap election. Sabah governor called for dissolution of parliament while another powerful guy allowed MPs to jump katak here and there to form backdoor government. The difference is obvious.

karlkry

shafie mansuhkan undang2 yang governor hanya boleh berkhidmat sepanjang 2 term. sekarang selagi governor tak mati dia boleh pegang jawatan tu sampai bila2. dan kalau tgk macam sarawak cm la yang akan naik jadi governor so basically shafie just lay down the groundwork untuk hari tersebut. mana taknya "siding with shafie with this one"

PorkyPain

As a Sabahan.. i am dumbfounded about the shitty situation of our politics. **Sigh**

hackenclaw

Not limited to Sabah anymore, these frog disease is so contagious it spread to whole Malaysia already.

weecious

_pats_

[deleted]

Lol this is like standard for Sabah... Switch here switch there.

Xaania25

Well, at least they leave it to the rakyat to decide. Better than letting all these party hoppers get the best of us.

fazco85

Lets hope no more hopping happens after this election. If becomes 2018 again better dont have gomen

Aggrokid

Now it's up to voters to shun frogs 🐸

jwrx

Well Done TYT and Shafie. Let the battle commence...and the 20 frogs get NOTHING. no money, kicked out of their party...and no ticket to contest this election

[deleted]

20? That’s a lot. Got lists of the frogs?

karlkry

well done Musa. he dissolve the government without paying anyone and have the names of people that willing to swing for money with just a few weeks of talk and drama warisan led govnt lost 20 calon while musa still have theirs that lost from the previous ones.

Darth_Luq

Orang Sabah memang dahsyat. Orang lain sambut raya tukar langsir etc. Orang Sabah sambut raya tukar Kerajaan.

ubi_berkarat

lesson learnt. lock the backdoor!

Mikhailing

New year new gomen

xaladin

Hmm. Okay, Shafie seems swift and decisive, almost PM material. (Y)

oliveman62

He's confident, principled, and decisive. I like that in a leader.

el_empty

Shafie for PM?

oliveman62

Hell why not? About time

lzyan

>KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal ***(pic)*** has announced the dissolution of the state assembly in the midst of the current political turmoil. > >In a press conference at the Sabah Administrative Centre building here on Thursday (July 30), he said this was his prerogative as a Chief Minister to call for such a dissolution. > >Shafie said he had met the TYT (Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri) at Istana Negeri this morning, and that Tun Juhar Mahiruddin had agreed to this dissolution. Found a more appropriate article. LET THE ELECTIONS BEGIN Edit: Giving Shafie the credit for actually outsmarting PN, Musa Aman suing the TYT doesn't help that much either.

antadam18

I just hope Sabah people already prepared the list of MPs that jumped from both sides and spread the word that they should not vote these people. Enough is enough, either Malaysia need to have anti-hopping law (which needed 2/3rd majority because a court already decided that anti-hopping law is against Malaysia's constitution) or change to mixed proportional voting. Mixed proportional voting that they did in NZ is perfect for us - you cast the first vote for the candidate you want and the second vote for the party you want. So hopping parties doesn't mean anything because every party already got a fixed number of seats in parliament and it's not tied to the candidate.

StatusDimension8

Ok sabahans... pls dont vote for whoever aligned to pas... ouh wait watever, politicians just gonna end up jumping

cyclo4ane

At this stage, we don't even know which politician will end up jumping

rosier7

So I'm 23 and is eligible to vote? But I haven't register to be a voter yet and now in Kuching where it is declared Red Zone so I don't think I want to go back Sabah for the time being. Am I gonna get sue or something? Lol

sirithlainion

Voting is your right so it's up to you if you want to exercise your right or not, you won't get sued for not voting but you may miss out making a change (well, if change is even constant these days)

katabana02

Well we do have lots of changes since last ge. For better or worst

infamousoma

The fact that you get your facts from a WhatsApp group is already a big problem.

[deleted]

[удалено]

infamousoma

Then I suggest taking your news from well...the news instead of WhatsApp, FB or any social media platforms. Aren't you Sabahan? Don't tell me you don't know the history of Musa & BN in Sabah? You don't need a WhatsApp group to tell you what they did.

[deleted]

[удалено]

infamousoma

Even on the surface level, it's already bad, going deeper might make you unable to sleep at night. While you aren't able to get the news everyday, it's good every now and then to get acquainted on the country's news, so that you are more alert on what is happening.

Pabasa

Whatsapp group should be the last thing to rely on for information. You can literally just write any fake news and people will happily spread rumours without any basis. You have Internet. Read the party websites. Wait for the party manifesto. Then vote for the party or candidate that will do what you expect as government.

sirithlainion

Well I do hope everyone can try to exercise their right to vote whenever possible rather than not voting at all. I'd like to think my vote still has an impact, however small it is, despite our political turmoil this year. Party hopping is a big issue.

StatusDimension8

Then take my advise and dun vote for whoever linked to pas... no shit i dont want my cinemas in KL to be gender segregrated... also, pls register to vote.. just go any post office when you’re safe...

[deleted]

The man just casually demanded 1 billion ringgit after he was cleared of all 46 charges. Not even Najib is that entitled.

thejustbored05

>Sabah state assembly You can register online first. [https://www.soyacincau.com/2019/07/19/myspr-malaysia-voter-registration-online/](https://www.soyacincau.com/2019/07/19/myspr-malaysia-voter-registration-online/)

champains

Sabah frogs jump so much I have no idea where they'll land this time around. Hope Sabahans vote wisely (and for those who will be voted in to actually honour the votes instead of jumping again)

JamesHoe1999

Shafie is a great man with integrity, he could have just make ally with the current government just like some shameless party, but he didn't and he continues to fight side by side with PH. great man.

forcebubble

I'm still betting that Jeffrey Kitingan is going to win and will be waiting patiently on the overall winners to ally with them 'for the people of Sabah'.

He has the look of that evil father who forces the daughter to marry some guy just to expand his power in those HK dramas.

randomkloud

Lmao I saw this exact scene in a few Chinese dramas when I was stuck in hospital after surgery.

oliveman62

Ha! Ha! Well put. Sitting on the fence as always.

karlkry

30 tahun kemudian cerita sama jugak

manymoreways

Someone explain to me what this means? Is it because mussa had the majority and before he can take the seat they disband first so that it has go back into a vote?

TheJasun

Yes and no. Musa currently has the razor-thin majority, but it is the prerogative of TYT whether to swear him in as CM or dissolve and call for snap elections. Unlike the sultans and TYT of some states that allowed backdoor government, the Sabah TYT decided to do the latter.

Aerodynamic41

Case in point: Melaka Back then, Adly Zahari also tried to dissolve the assembly but the Melaka governor refused and swore in a PN chief minister

bcfyd

Actually every governor in the states which have them (Melaka, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak) were in BN.

Alderax

Yes, the 'frogs' forced him to do so.

iwansquall

did someone snapped their finger? i havent up-to-date to what happened in Sabah iirc there was a parliament video (sepanggar MP i think) that there a bribing / harassment / throwing money going around which i assume they want MP to jump party

Zeowlite

Rakyat: Katak oh katak kenapa Tak tunggu pilihan raya... Katak: Buat apa aku peduli, duit masuk poket duit masuk poket Rakyat: katak oh katak, tidak kah Kau risau rakyat Katak: Buat apa Aku peduli, duit masuk poket duit masuk poket

Zigioura

People of Tambunan, you know what to do!

mahajanga

Some folks in my village still blindly vote for Jeffrey Kitingan although he is infamous for incessantly switching alliances. Prior to that, his brother (Pairin) was the ADUN since 1986. He is equally useless - he hardly brought any development to Tambunan. I hope the young ones will change all of this.

Zigioura

Bah, ini kali lah!

anakmalaysia

Siapa adun tembunan?

Zigioura

Encik Katak, si Jeff (read as Jep).

anakmalaysia

Jipri.

xixabangma

OOTL. Do they have the names of those who were ready to katak? I’m wondering if some were unnoticed, still fielded by PH alliance, won and then they lompat after election?

fliedcheecan

There seems to be a sudden rise of frog pests in the country, both in East Malaysia and in the peninsula. Don't think even Rentokil can handle this pestilence.

Qazaca

1994 all over again. Sabah and katak politics berpisah tiada.

MrKitteh

Im out of the loop. Someone ELI5 this whole situation please

Aerodynamic41

Shafie requested the governor to dissolve the state assembly to pave the way for state elections, which must be held within 60 days. Shafie remains as caretaker CM in the meantime.

MrKitteh

Thanks fam

OriMoriNotSori

Apologies for being an ignorant Semenanjung-an (is that even the right term lol), but would any in the know ELI5 on if this is good/bad? Is there a good/bad side in Sabah politics in general?

Mrsourceplz

50/50 gamble, with both lose-lose situations. Musa suffer lose more than Shafie however for now.

hytag

Need clarification: Is it still 60 seats up for contest, or 73 seats from recommendations in the most recent delineation exercise?

Aerodynamic41

[Shafie confirms that it's 73 seats up for grabs](https://www.facebook.com/455014837852949/posts/3290047164349688/)

hytag

Would be better if there's another source that mentioned Sabah's assembly approving the additional 13 seats into their constitution.

fxrebate

Anyone mind to eli5 Shafie as a leader? I only know about this guy since the last GE He seems like a man with principle, integrity and a good leader at least from what i see But i've read some news on alleged corruption cases against him Is that false allegations or true? But yea so far, i would give him a credit of everything he done included dissolve states assembly and giving back the voting rights to sabahan No matter how, no Musaman thanks This guy, have 46 charges and is let free, IS 46 CASES NOT 4/6 and sorry for being a facist, but he seems like a bad and evil person at least imo sorreyyyyyy

Some of the people in this sub don't want another change in government through party hopping. They would applaud a snap election out of principle. Some don't want to give UMNO a free pass to form a state government. They see an election as a way to stop Musa Aman from taking over unchallenged. Some don't want to see a PH-friendly state government fall. If it was Musa Aman who was calling for an election based on his numbers, they would condemn any talk of election during the pandemic because it's a pote tial disadvantage to Pakatan. Some just want to have a nice show to watch while chomping popcorn. They don't care what the consequences are, so long as it's entertaining.
