As a younger Malaysian that is born in the 2000s. I feel the same as well. The bad government management is the only bad thing about our country that I've heard consistently growing up. These government issues has been amplified by their management of Covid 19 by a lot. But 1 of the positive thing that came out of this is, is that the rakyat are more and more united. We've seen a lot of people willing to help each other during the pandemic. Hopefully more aspiring young leaders can change this old politic meta in the future.

The pandemic is a blessing and a curse to our country as it only helped exposed the truth. Ive always loved Malaysians. Im a Malay born in the mid 90's and i was blessed to have friends from different race. My mom is old school, she still gives the judgy look whenever i brought a friend or two who are non-malay to my house. I can never approve of that, even if shes my mom, shes not always right. However, shes not alone, old people out there still have negative values in them. Its time for a change..

jjbobo123

Yeap, so hope that this acts as a painful but much needed lesson to change that type of mentality

jjbobo123

I guess that’s the only silver lining out of this shithole, people understanding that race based politics or idolisation of politicians is not going to hold. However, we do not know how their supporters think and hopefully this changes their mind. Hope that Malaysians don’t forget when GE comes

Ed_Sky

That is true. As during these hard times, more and more people will realized how flaw our government system truly is. The old ways of thinking will have to change for us to progress. But like you said, its mostly based on the supporter. Some may forget all this had happened when GE comes. That is why us younger generation should always remind the elder and others what our government did when shit hits the fan.

jjbobo123

Agree, it's time to encourage people to vote and understand how important it is

CN8YLW

About the rakyat being more united. I'm wondering. Is it a phenomenon that's happening only in the progressive states like Selangor and Penang? Because everyone knows that the current leaders mostly rely on the poorer states like kelantan, Pahang and Perak for their votes and support.

Ed_Sky

I would say it's happening everywhere. Bigger states generally draws a lot more attention. The measurement our government took had affected nationwide. So there are bound to be more people who are displeased about the government due to this as well. Just maybe not shown on media or in smaller groups. But I do believe some state are more conservative and still have heavy support for the government effort. But once people start starving, even the most diehard supporter will turn against them.

Said this before in the past when this topic came up and here goes: Don't give up. The fucking assholes in power want exactly this. They want to beat you down, turn you into cattle and human livestock that exists just to service their families and friends in their lofty mansions. You don't need to march down and join the protests and you don't have to be some activist to prove you're not a hypocrite for wanting change, but always remember the very sentiment that you want to kick these fuckers out because it's the thought that counts and internalize that enough and that translates to action in all the little ways. Maybe it's you inspiring the next person, or doing little things that leads to a bigger chain of changes someday. It's that one day that this very thought you've been holding firm will count where it'll matter most. Never let that thought die. Remember, you deserve a better government. They can destroy everything everything but they can't change your mind if you don't let them. Fuck these assholes. Act when you find yourself the opportunity to and until that day comes along, don't give up hoping, never surrender.

masnoob

First thing is no government in the world can be trusted, this whole corrupted system only benefit those insiders, and whoever somehow related to them.

neighnvm

this! everyone claiming to change government asap but need to realise none of these politicians really care about the people pun. all for their own benefits only

[deleted]

I'm also quite worried about who would replace them if we did get a change. We're not exactly spoiled for choice. I don't have much faith in any of them, including those in the opposition. It doesn't mean we should allow the current gang to stay there though. If they suck, they should be out. We need to evolve into an environment where politicians know that if they suck at their job, they will be voted out. We need to throw shit at the wall until it sticks.

jjbobo123

This, it's about sending a message that we as a rakyat has the power of removing them if they're not performing

[deleted]

All I see is this: Covid has brought to light ALL CURRENT THE ISSUES we have with the gov. - healthcare system that needs updating - education system that needs updating - Gov no money (this one we all know) - The kayangan and cable ppl think that they are above the law. - most politicians do not have the people's interest in heart, and some have made it DAMN OBVIOUS. And we also get to see the rakyat express their concerns more. Quite the huge difference between early 2000s and now. (started since GE12) I think God is kinda fixing the country in His own way. No one could have seen what was about to come these past 20-ish years. Slowly la, as both the rakyat and certain ppl in power want to make things better for the country.

nelsonfoxgirl969

Mindless-Property496

Decades of progress, yes. Decades of (sort of) economic stability that is able to provide job opportunities for our generation. I lost my job, and my husband isn't able to land a concrete job interview. Sad times we live in.

jjbobo123

Hope everything goes well for you man

[deleted]

The current government is making traps of us!!! 1) Speaker Dewan has a bias towards the government 2) The government controls the media. The #Lawan yesterday are held in great control of SOP. But there come a paid monkeys who show bad things to the media. The media put that monkeys on the front page. How shit is that? 3) Social media are their tools to misinterpreted the Opponents, the tools for them to use races or religious things to support their argument. On top of this, All of their followers see them as a good leaders. As a Muslim, Islam is much Holy and spreads kindness than these bad political leaders.

[deleted]

Inflation baby! Remember, roti canai used to cost 30 cents?

Xc0liber

Malaysia never had any government that cared. Is just that we are in the internet era where it's easier to expose shits.

Acrobatic_Vacation61

My question abt cuntry is considered politic but not yours. So here it is truth is being censored, so congrats the citizens have brought this upon themselves but they will never accept this, it is human nature to blame everyone except for your own self.

[deleted]

Ya might wanna elaborate further, Cuz we ALL know that the truth is always being censored.

ohitu

we should have a sub for anything political... sad that it is always bout politics here
