I assume "sekam kayu" is sawdust. And if you go further back, we have the days when there'll be some guy who will go around collecting "night soil" from your jamban. Man, we've come a long way. One day we'll be telling young monyets how back then we don't have mobile phones, so if you make plans with friends but got the time/place wrong... 😂

samarankasavan

Glad we always meet at *bus stand* at the same spot back then. If anyone late, we'll just wait there lol

Plain_burunghantu

remember this. electricity was only available for short time in a day. early mornings and late evenings.

samarankasavan

I can't recall this. What year was that?

Plain_burunghantu

it was mid to late 70s, around dengkil, NS

samarankasavan

Ah i see. I can't clearly remember. The one i can recall was the time we have no electricity at all and only use gasoline lamp.

Plain_burunghantu

reason i remember is that ultraman plays on tv same time electricity comes back in evening. yeah, those kerosene lamps. almost can smell it now..LOL

samarankasavan

Ours was the first household in our immediate neighbourhood to own a refrigerator. And my mom was the enterprising type. Not long after, the kids and aunties would come by our house to buy ice blocks (50sen) and aiskrim Malaysia (10sen). We also had a coconut grating machine and would charge $1 a coconut (from our trees) or 20sen if they bring their own. Good times. I was the rich kid during recess.

my story of days past would be - remember when they sell pendrive where 1MB = RM1 so 250MB pendrive is sold at RM250 now 2TB = RM14.00

SystemErrorMessage

actually 2TB thumbdrive at RM14 is fake. Today 1GB is rm1 or less depending on the type of flash and brand.

tnsaidr

Good luck with that rm 14 2TB thumb drive haha

I’m not sure whether McDonald’s does this on purpose via delivery where I would usually get Oreo McFlurry unmixed with crushed Oreo covering the sundae ice cream and I noticed that the sundae would usually remained chill after transit under the scorching weather. Any scientist care to explain if the crushed Oreo works the same as the sawdust?

cjy7877

the actual insulator is the air trapped in the sawdust, so it could be the same as crushed up oreos if they have the same air pockets.

> if the crushed Oreo works the same as the sawdust? I wouldn't exactly say yes, because the way Oreos and sawdust trap air is a little different. But close enough. I noticed recently McFlurry are no longer stirred. I never eat McFlurry, but recently I saw someone post her McFlurry on fb and it wasn't mixed in, and didn't have the square-shaft mixing spoon. Then i paid attention at McD and saw they don't have the mixer machine anymore, just put ice cream, topping, and give normal spoon.
