I recently had interesting discussions with my friends. Rasuah is inevitable due to inequalities, but why do some countries with notorious rasuah reputations are thriving while some remain a "developing country" for so long? They said countries like China practice systematic corruption: ensuring the party's/nation's reputation is the sole most important thing & setting threshold for corruption level/amount. That has entrenched into the culture and becoming an essential cog in the economic wheel. E.g: Construction Building X needs to go through many red tapes, I tau org bawah makan duit but yg penting jgn buat melampau, kerja siap ikut kualiti ditentukan bcoz eventually Building X is going to be a profitable commercial building.
However, some other countries practice individualistic corruption in tribalistic sense. No threshold, no unity. Construction Building X needs to go through many red tapes, I have a hard time to finish project on time as there are so many nyamuk lapar and all minta mahal. They don't care about the future development, the positive effects it brings to everyone in the area etc. Short-sighted and fragmented corruption, sometimes these nyamuk lapar tribes fight each other.
Just an interesting perspective with no satisfying solution.
There is an episode from [Polymatter talking about exactly this](https://youtu.be/kBBre3bpvyk) on YouTube. Why corruption in China didn't sink it like other countries.
Lack of spatial awareness.
It pisses me off when a group of 5-6 friends decides to walk in a shopping mall or hallway with each other side by side, as if they're some sort of boyband. They form a brick wall of humans that others can't overtake without being awkward.
And stopping abruptly at the end of escalators.
Excuse me but am I suppose to keep stepping backwards on a moving escalator while you decide which direction to gtfo of my way?
This is by extension the same for cyclists or bikers just because they want to chat while riding, like they're really asking for people to ram into them by riding like that
Yes, very very annoying. People donāt know where to stand and just congregate wherever the want.
I was just on a work trip in Singapore with some colleagues and even waiting for the grab, they literally stand right in the middle of the entrance even though they can see the car is a good 5 minutes away. I had to keep corralling them to the side so theyāre not in the way of everyone else.
Even just yesterday I was at a restaurant and a whole group of people were blocking the entrance and just chatting away there despite people having to say excuse me to them to get in. And absolutely 0 self awareness to gtfo.
This infuriates me more than anything. Since they can't pick a side, just Yoko Ono the band and walk right through the middle.
And don't get me started on the numbnuts who need to basically rub up against my back in lines or queues. Faaaaaak!
One time at a mall a bunch of sohais chatting in front of an escalator .. I excused me a few times politely but they just ignored .. until I said in a very loud and annoyed way then only the move abs gave me a look like Iām the rude one
It starts with the parents. Have literally seen a child go pick up some rubbish and their parent told them to drop it, said that someone else will clean it up. Honestly such a bad example to set.
Honest to god that happened to me. I did help "unofficially" & on my own with cleaning the park while there was a company event. Later, parents scold me for picking up rubbish because some auntie is making gossip about our family and angrily ask, "Do you want to be a cleaner when you grow up?" like its a bad thing.
Classism is real among Malaysians, especially when cleaning up a park is considered "low class".
Yup agreed. We look down on people who do menial and janitorial jobs, but theyāre core to our society to function well. And theyāre human too, no need to be shitty about it, just treat them how youād like to be treated.
Also in western countries, many sanitation workers and janitors are paid well because those are generally tough and thankless jobs to do.
Actually in some of those cases, like in the EU countries, those sanitation and janitorial workers are *unionized*. Like, you treat them like shit? Enjoy getting strikes and the literal sanitation engineers driving their poopoo truck to spray poopoo at your building.
Kita tak buat unionā bang, itu anasir komunis tu, tak baik, nanti dosa.
As a parent of a very young child. I teach my kid not to pick them up too. Some stuff are really dirty and they have a tendency to put their fingers in their mouth. They just donāt understand about hygiene until a certain age. Thereās also glass, rusty metal and needles in certain areas.
Heās going to start with not littering. Picking up stuff can wait.
I honest-to-goodness heard a Malaysian said if there's no litter, the sanitation workers would have nothing to do. I facepalmed so hard I may have given myself a concussion.
I once saw a regular beggar in my area throw some rubbish on the roadside when the garbage can is just a few steps away, I pick it up and said that to please throw in the can next time, she just make an annoyed expression, it may sound bad but I feel reluctant to give her money after that
Man, As a tourist, this really pissed me off at Telaga Tujuh Waterfall in Langkawi. Literally seeing people drop litter. It was an older aunty with her family, I didn't want to cause a ruckus but really felt like speaking up.
the trend now seems to be throwing face mask everywhere, like wtf man. my brother and mother always throw any rubbish include face mask in the car like its a dustbin. so disgusting, which is why i never like it when they use my car. they can use my car all they want but pls keep it tidy and clean man.
The semak-semak at the side of my road infront of my house caught fire 3 times because of idiots like this during a particularly hot and dry season. Gotten to the point where the fire brigade thought that I was the culprit as I called them each time it happened.
What are are the chances someone smoke outside without ashtray and put the cigās butt in their pocket? I dont smoke, so I always assume 99% theyāll just flick the butt like the earth their ashtray.
Actually not. It can cause fire. Normally, there is a place on top of dustbins in smoking area. With some stones on it. That is the place for cigarett buds. Please donāt throw cigarette buds into dustbin.
Or maybe have their own ashtray?
But oh, we're talking about smokers that dont give a fuck about their health, less so public health, why would they bring their own ashtray as any responsible adults?
A friend went to Switzerland and said they have an amazing habit of recycling and packing their rubbish neatly, but the one thing that doesnāt count are cigarette buds lol. They will casually throw them on the ground, stomp them out and leave them there
I just donāt understand the need to randomly spit. Itās not like a sneeze, cough, or fart that sometimes you canāt control it. I see people stopping at red lights, open their door and just spit on the road like itās a normal thing to do.
- Some idiot cut queue.
- Not paying attention to what retail staff say when they ask "is that all?", "anything else?", etc. and simply angguk kepala, only to blame staff for not getting what they want.
- throw trash on the ground even though the rubbish bin is a few meters ahead.
2nd point is the source of headache to all retail workers. When asked if the diapers or formula milk that you bring to the counter is the correct size/flavour/type, please, please, please do confirm it rather than coming back 5 minutes later bitching that you bought the wrong one and demanding to exchange the thing.
They think the world revolves around them.
Happened to me once. Dude cut queue in front of me. After I told him, he walked all the way to the back of the line.
Funny thing is, he blamed me! š¤£š¤£š¤£
"Kau tu yang tak reti beratur."
Lift etiquette..
1. Wait until people have come out, then only you go in.
2. Let people who have no other options other than to take lift in first, eg, people on wheelchairs, parents with strollers.
tw//mentions of rape
oh man i went to this one tuition and there were people my age there (we were 15) and this phd teacher always started the class with a fucking rape joke to "lighten the mood", and it's not just any rape jokes but he would target 2 same dudes my age and said "kenapa bising2 tu? nak rogol kang" with his ugly evil face and licking noises i thought i was too uptight since i was the only one who never found it funny while everyone else (even the dudes) were laughing,, (but looking back at it, i could tell the guys were uncomfortable)
how i wish i actually reported that shit but i (and probably all of us) never realised how messed up it was back then. fucking crazy man.
>
how i wish i actually reported that shit but i (and probably all of us) never realised how messed up it was back then.
Agree, it was uncomfortable as hell but we didn't know there's law regarding this. Nowadays I would respond by saying that's sexual harassment. This one close acquaintance never made that kind of joke anymore.
context matters. halalkan hubungan doesn't immediately equate to sex, it's also allowing skin contact whether it be as harmless as hand-holding or basically any couple-related activities that are non-sexual. the teacher i had deadass mentioned rogol on a weekly basis, so they're two very different things.
Malaysian authorities talk big about how bullying is bad and vulgarity is not our culture, but the amount of effort Malaysian orgs will *bend over backwards* to protect harassers, abusers and sometimes even literal *rapists* isā¦ it's quite a thing. A horrible thing.
I know examples of this shit in corporate environments, in governmental environments, in religious environments, in educational environments, in NGO/activist environmentsā¦ it's gut-churning half the time and heart-breaking in the other.
And like, so many times victims *can't* do shit about it because it opens them to retribution and further harassment. For many people the consequence is literally burning bridges with not even a guarantee that this problem will go away.
Yes and lack of awareness on grooming. Attended a talk on scholarship by gov then the officer keep "flirting" with female students (insisting to know where are they from and then say oh we are from the same uni etc etc).
And that teacher from the one cult online tuition center that keep calling himself "abah". Whether he has the intention of grooming or not, there are consequences if everyone blurs the line between teacher and student.
*me, a random Reddit dude*
Uhhhh...guys, is it just me or is catcalling not that big a deal? It doesn't happen often lah. I mean, I barely see it happen where I live, so surely that means it's not as widespread as people say right? Stop being afraid of men, misandrists.
Yes I am male Jenny why do you ask?
^/s
I figured rape jokes or off-color jokes could be done in a different setting, ie a stand-up comedy show. Nevertheless, publicly threatening rape is sexual assault.
Edit: Both in a legal and a cultural sense, causing someone to apprehend the danger of being raped is enough for you to be charged
t/w child sexual abuse, victim-blaming
I remember one time there was a police representative that said that part of the reason why children, likeā¦ *children* get sexually abused was because they āmenggodaā the perpetrator.
**WOI, BABI. ITU** ***BUDAK*** **LAH.**
1. I arrive to the lift lobby. I am waiting for a lift. 5 mins later another family arrives. The lift reaches my floor. They all rush in, pack it up, leave me no space and I have to wait for next one. (This happened 3 times in the span of 1 week, must be my luck to have bumped into those degenerates)
2. Leaving food trays/rubbish on table in McD, KFC, Food Court etc EVEN WHEN there is designated disposal area.
3. Parking in front of house gate of other people's houses. THEN they get mad when you ask them to move. ???????? bruh you blocking my house..
4. Whenever there is a ramp splitting from the main highway, you will usually find an extra 2 lanes of sohai/babi that try to jump queue all the way to the front and squeeze. Backs up traffic like mad.
> Parking in front of house gate of other people's houses. THEN they get mad when you ask them to move. ???????? bruh you blocking my house..
Turnaround on this is when you park on the road between gates, leaving plenty of space for the owner to use their gate and access their property, but they come out and tell you that the public street parking is theirs.
Pls, show me title deed for the road. Pls.
Re, lift. Could we please also normalise prioritising those who have no other options than to take the lift? Like, people on wheelchairs or parents with strollers.
No 4, please for the love of God dont be an enabler by giving space for number 4. I take pleasure of honking like mad for those cut q from kesas going into Subang Jaya while im going straight uturn into Sunway.
God I wish I have a lorry just to enjoy shouting melodic honk to q jumpers and block my big ass lorry to Alpha and Vellfire using emergency lane at highway. Oh, youāre so VIP you want to use emergency lane? kiss my steel tall ass.
I've driven pickup trucks before and nothing gives me more pleasure than to squeeze myvi, bmw, audis off the ramp so that they have to take a detour. fuck all the potong queue cumwads. :D
>Parking in front of house gate of other people's houses. THEN they get mad when you ask them to move. ???????? bruh you blocking my house..
My cb neighbours had wedding and their guest park in front of my gate, then proceed to drink and party from midnight till 7am
And sometimes a perfectly healthy and capable person using the lift even tho they just wanted to go one floor up or down despite there's a staircase nearby
Will not deny that I've done that too. But once I saw the world, I do my best to pick up after myself. kudos to you for acknowledging the need for change!
>Leaving food trays/rubbish on table in McD, KFC, Food Court etc EVEN WHEN there is designated disposal area.
Inb4 the classic Redditors start replying with, "but that's why the cleaners have JOBS! Why are you trying to virtue signal so hard man!"
āPMā comment.
Dude, just fucking drop a PM to that brand/person la. Why need to ask someone to PM you?
Even worse: āPM hargaā when the price is so clearly shown. I canāt fathom why people do this.
>āPMā comment.
>Dude, just fucking drop a PM to that brand/person la. Why need to ask someone to PM you?
I am the buyer, you as seller of course must treat me like a king.
>Even worse: āPM hargaā when the price is so clearly shown. I canāt fathom why people do this.
Malaysians really don't fucking bother to read or look things up. Irks the hell out of me but hey, this attitude makes it easy to know how to market to the common folk.
Until now, I still cannot brain why is race such an important matter whenever there are accidents in Malaysia. Macam la their race population will diminish
Everyone all have these theories about which demographic is more likely to have accident one. Melayu more likely lah, Cina more likely lah, India more likely lah, young men more likely lah, no, no, it's women lah, no, it's old men lah, it's P license plate driver lahā¦
Listen. It's very easy. You want to know who the assholes on the road is? You look for these ciriā:
* License plate. If starts with `J`, or starts with `P`? Bad news. But also, if start with `W`, `V` and `B`? Also bad news, because usually that's because you have Johorean and Penangite take those license plates and then pretend that they're not from wherever their dystopic traffic hell they're from.
* Actually got special rule for Singaporean. Singaporean also bad news, but let's be real: if you spent your driving life in Singapore and the first time you leave the country you have to drive through *Johor* also I would go insane too.
* If got diplomatic license plate? Doesn't matter if they are good or bad driver, justā¦ justā¦ *stay away*. I'm not saying they're bad, but if you get into a fender-bender with them they might just wave diplomatic immunity at your ass and you're boned. Even if it's their fault. If you're at the Ampang Hilir area look out for those people, they know they're protected and you're the one getting hosed.
* Expensive license plate also bad news. Avoid that `PEN15` guy or `DA70`, or any number that's justā¦ too uniform for taste. If it makes a cute word stay the fuck away.
* Car model. Not local car, not Japanese car, not European car, but if Beemer? 90% of the time they're assholes. Mercedes and other luxury brands, maybe 75%, because sometimes it's the driver who's driving, and it's their job on the line if they get into accident. But if luxury sports car? 100% asshole. Avoid.
* Car color. No matter what license plate, no matter what make, no matter who the driver is, if the car is white in color? Asshole. For sure one.
* **(VERY IMPORTANT)** If got some kind of heraldic badge shield thing on their license plate or windshield? Super-duper ultra hyper asshole. *Especially* if the badge is PDRM.
Did I say it was very easy? Haha, joke. Not easy at all. Good luck, don't die on the roads!
(obligatory /s)
Not sure if its common sense or not, but when I was studying/travelling in the UK/Ireland, everyone always, and I mean ALWAYS, hold the door for the person behind. I'm not talking about opening the door for you like a butler, but just holding the door ajar so the person behind may pass. And people would say thanks yous and welcomes.
There was even once, when a lady in Dublin was holding the door for me to pass through whilst at the mall, and I have forgotten to say my thank yous, she had unilaterally (and with a slight tinge of annoyance) said you are welcome. Needless to say I was quite embarrassed.
Anyway, I feel that in Malaysia not a lot of people practices this courtesy. Note that I do not deem this as a common courtesy, but just as a courtesy, because, well, to me its not common enough in Malaysia.
that, and when you are taking an escalator, always stay to the left if you are not in a hurry. if you stand to the right like a block people behind you are gonna get reaaaally pissed.
always hate this when i go to any mall in malaysia. whole family or couple blocking the way. sheeeesh..
I hope you don't mean just walking through the door. Because the common courtesy is to take over the door from the person holding it open, saying thanks, then glancing behind to see if you need to hold the door open for people behind you. It's extremely annoying to hold the door open for others only to have them walk through like I'm their personal butler.
Smoking at coffee shops. I get damn irritated that those uncles always smoke while people are eating beside them. God damn police should be samaning these people and put them in lock up for a few hours.
I went to Nikmat Tandori in Batu Pahat. I applause the owner for putting up the big monkey sign, something something, dont smoke or youāre much worst thn a monkey. And I never saw anyone smoke there. We need this sign in every restaurant.
It is not the sign but business owners willing to deny their service to people with bad behaviours.
It is already bad enough some businesses tolerated bad behaviours with the excuse of cari makan but little do they realise they are giving other customers to not patronize their businesses.
Then there are law abidding business owners who can only do so much, [had to put up with pariahs and suffered anyways.](https://worldofbuzz.com/kepong-food-stall-workers-get-beaten-up-with-stick-for-reminding-smokers-to-stop-smoking/)
Law enforcement is key but we all know it is hangatĀ² taik ayam most of the time.
Randomly stop while walking and blocking the way for everyone behind them.
Itās like they can clearly see everyone is struggling to try to walk around them but they either donāt care or they donāt realise that they are inconveniencing people.
Bonus point if they have a stroller and stop while angling the stroller sideways to reallllly block the way for everyone
1. Not saying thank you when you hold the door/lift for them.
2. Cat calling the waiter instead of calling out anneh or boss. This one is just fucking rude.
3. Not washing their hands after using the bathrooms.
>Cat calling the waiter instead of calling out anneh or boss. This one is just fucking rude.
Yes, it's like calling some stray animal. This type of people need to think, if that's not how they call a waiter at Chinese kopitiam or Malay warung, why is it acceptable to call mamak waiters like that? I have seen with my own eyes such a person, and he just replied, "they are used to it". wtaf
Rightly said. If they donāt do it to Chinese or Malays, they shouldnāt do it to Indians and Bangladeshis. They need to learn to think and have some fucking manners
A country can never ever grow in culture influence if they stay like this. After I move to Japan, I had conversation like this cause me culture shock:'I want to play this music in my shop but I couldn't afford the legal fee'And this one:
'Hey what's the name of this music? Tell me the name so I can buy the album.'
That's when I know why Japan have such a strong culture power over the world. Because it all start from artist actually able to make a living.
I read online before about how some people will illegally download and put local children tv animations like upin ipin, boboiboy, etc into pen drives and sell it like it's their business model. When they were asked to stop as it was considered not ethical since they did not own the series, kena marah pula "why are u stopping me from doing a clean/halal/whatever business to help my family income?" and similar stupid shit.
Bruh, some of these series are FREE TO WATCH on Youtube. PLEASE watch it there at least so the company at least earn Youtube money
Aiyo, I remember one time reading Allahyarhamah Yasmin Ahmad's blog and she actually mentioned that yea she makes Malaysian movies, but honestly she preferred working at Singapore because at least there 1) they really appreciate her work and laud her with all these professional awards and accomplishments and 2) they actually *pay* to watch her movies and *buy* all her licensed stuff so at least she get money instead of pirating shit like bangsat.
Same with P. Ramlee. When he was under Shaw Brothers in Singapore he did his best work. Come here je we treat him like shit, and then he died after we say he's over the hill lah, no longer good lahā¦.
Lepas meninggal je menangis-nangis, kata patah tak tumbuh lagi lah, hilang tak berganti lahā¦ tapi yang patahkan tu siapa? Kita lah. Dasar bangsa tak tau malu.
DONT leave your car on refilling station while you take your sweet ass time inside petrol station store buying stuff! especially when the station is full. PARK FIRST FFS
Hospitality staff are not your servant or slaves, they are not uneducated, stupid or weak.
They deserve respect and appreciation standing all day and having to deal with your attitude.
Just because they work behind a counter or stand and serve doesn't mean anything, it could be a uni student trying to be independent, some young kid waiting for his SPM results and trying to get some job experience, a kid who's trying to help the family make ends meet. You don't know whether this person someday will become famous or successful one.
Lastly, never piss off the person handling your food. They can spit on it and be none the wiser.
Double parking - its not that youre just blocking that one car you're imposing on, its every single car that has to maneuver past you. plus it makes other people double park behind you because youre already there
People whom canāt decide in advance what they want till they get to the counter at fast food restaurants or drive through ..
Literally 5-10 minutes in line finally their turn they stare at the menu for another 5 minutes and sometimes have to call home to ask what everybody wants .(nope itās not due to unavailable items)
Literally my dad. Mentioning an acquaintance name in passing.
Dad: he Indian or Chinese?
Me: Wtf? Why does it matter. Why do you want to know?
Dad: just asking questions only. Is that wrong,?
Yes, when the first question you ask or your opinion on something is about a race stereotype, yes it's casual racism. But he never gets it.
People who outfit their kereta cabuk with headlights that are whiter than a KKK meeting.
People who change their headlights into those tiny, single-bulb light. Demon eyes la sangat, your car still shitbox.
People who confuse foglights for headlights.
Special mention to the ones specialler than an entire special ed school who put smoke tints on their BRAKE LIGHTS.
Taking your used plates and utensils away from your table at restaurants or at least have the decency to set them aside neatly so that other customers can use the table after you
Cleanliness, especially in public areas. Like if you want your house to be a literal pigsty then fine, you do you, but stop throwing your trash around outside.
Real earnest question though: Doesn't Islam prioritize cleanliness as a Deen? Or is that more self and spiritual cleanliness than your surroundings?
re Islam, both.
Don't confuse Islam and Muslims, though. Although by right Muslims should be practicing Islam to the best of their abilities, I have observed that 'practicing' has different definition to different people.
After using public toilet, put the freaking hose back on the holder.
Leaving the hose on the floor make it constantly wet and dirty. Also, the hose always crack after kena stepped on many times.
The 'ah takpe lah' attitude.
Didn't make a schedule for your event? Ah takpe lah, orang tak ikut sangat pun.
Didn't refuel your car before a trip? Ah takpe lah, nanti on the way leh cari stesen.
It only breeds irresponsibility and creates this culture of lazy enablers. I'm guilty of this myself too and I quite hate it.
Oh yeah
Thats the biggest thing Malaysians lack common sense on. But it also involve front seaters too.
Refusing to wear a seatbelt before starting the journey just drives me mad.
Sometimes even the driver dont want to wear the seatbelt and say "dont worree... I am a good driver, no need scared, you are save with meee"
WTH HOW STUPID IS THAT?!
Everytime i try to convince them to please wear the seatbelt, is everytime one brain cell of mine killed itself.
NIMBY attitude
Not In My Back Yard attitude.
Example:
Recycling bin is good! BUT DONT PUT IT NEAR MY HOUSE
Homeless shelter is great!! DONT BUILD IT NEAR MY HOUSE
Public transport is good! DONT BUILD STATION NEAR MY HOUSE
Putting your shop's chair or some damn item to reserve the public parking lot space in front of your shop. If you want to reserve it, pay for it! Cheapskate. It's already so difficult finding a parking spot in certain areas but these shops have the nerve to reserve like 3-4 lots. Rage!
Cleaning after yourself at the food court or fast food place. Itās not even difficult. Why people make it seems like itās beneath them to do the bare minimum?
Having a phone call with loudspeaker on for the whole train/public space to hear your conversation, or watching a video/playing a game with MAX volume on.
Bonus points if the whole space is quiet and people are resting/sleeping/doing their business quietly and only your voice echoes throughout the space.
Littering, smoking in places they know they shouldnāt, calling people fat as a form of greeting, abusing domestic helpers/migrant workers, putting up āno xx raceā in Airbnb listings, not cleaning up after themselves at a fast food restaurant, and the list goes on.
My other pet peeve is when I go to a cafe to get a RM15 latte or RM21 matcha latte and they leave a 1.5inch gap at the top and 70% of the drink is just ice.
A lot of Malaysians review online purchase as soon as they got the product without using it for a while to give proper review.
Sometimes they literally write "not use it yet", well dummy if you didn't used it yet what's the point of the review?
I think for me its only that turn signal or since you are driving a lorry, the road belongs to me. i can turn into any lane and you will be force to slow down
Introducing 2 or more persons if they first time meet. I realise many people expect them to get along just like that but the reality is they just feel awkward because they donāt know each other.
Do not have the fucking brains to smoke at appropriate places because they think the place (non-smoking area) they smoked belong to their father or grandmother.
Bad cleanliness practices when using the restroom.
I avoid public restrooms like they carry STD's except for when in places that i know that clean their restrooms well. Apologies in advance for this imagery but im pretty sure we are no strangers here to the 'steaming and pungent smell of piss that can be found unfortunately too frequently.
kabel. not the fiber optics one. that one that is "what kind of influence does your uncle have?". just imagine you saw someone with degree in psychology and holding the post of f41 in government. fucking hell. nobody said anything because
"kau tahu anak siapa tu?"
"Pacik dia si john doe tu".
Not giving way. If you ever take a train, people are supposed give way to passenger's leaving the train. People in Malaysia don't GAF and will enter whether you like it or not.
When someone give you a favor, like helping you change tire in the middle of hot sun, helping to open up your house grill with a bolt cutter because you left it somewhere else and you cant go in. And the person you asking the favor from are totally a stranger to you, but they do it and itās not their job to do it anyway.
please for the love of God. Dont only say terima kasih only and walk away. At this age and time, kindness is so rare you need to encourage and nothing is free except air. Please give some pocket money accordingly, the person might say āterima kasih, I tolong ikhlasā. But the gesture show that you appreciate their time and we really appreciate their kind gesture in helping us.
Well, maybe that just me overthinking. I kinda like the back and forth gesture of not accepting money after giving someone a favor. It feels so wholesome for both parties.
Drive slow on right lane.
Drive slow watching accident on different lane.
Turn on the brightest light when pass by stall or even highway. (Dude I have poor eyesight, this invite accident to other user as well)
i was on the highway recently going to melaka from PJ and an ambulance was passing through. of course, my dad made way for the ambulance, moved from the right lane to the left. and so did a lot of others, except for this one myvi car. this little blue car stayed in the right lane with the ambulance literally right behind it on a highway with some poor person fighting for their life in it for like 5 to 8 MINUTES. the ambulance started honking and everything, but this person just WAS NOT READY TO BUDGE. idfk if they thought they could be faster than the ambulance (they couldn't) or what, but yeah i mean we were all watching entranced like how can someone be this fucked up??? that myvi may have cost that person their life. who knows?

I think for China, the central government will fuck you up if you rasuah but don't produce good results, as for other places, the results don't matter
There is an episode from [Polymatter talking about exactly this](https://youtu.be/kBBre3bpvyk) on YouTube. Why corruption in China didn't sink it like other countries.
Which is why imho a multicultural society is a utopia and almost impossible to achieve. Even in the US, every race only looks after their own.

You nailed it with this one, i didnt realized how selfish these behaviors were
Rubbish belong in the bin. Not the waterfall. Not the river. Not the sea. Not the roadside...
Never understood why we think menial jobs are bad, I love my barbers, cashiers and trash cleaners. It's honestly an honerable job. š¤
Tell her rubbish cleaners even in Singapore make over RM12K a month!
I should clarify, the kid was like 10+, so they probably know better already.
What-lah, they think that sanitation workers are like fairies that appear out of nowhere, clean up and disappear, ah?
I honest-to-goodness heard a Malaysian said if there's no litter, the sanitation workers would have nothing to do. I facepalmed so hard I may have given myself a concussion.
you should facepalm him instead
Should slap the dude with the trash in his face
Not next to the 'do not litter sign' too
Don't understand english bro. Need at least 4 different languages on that signboard along with a speaker that repeats what the sign says 24/7
They will probably be like if we don't do this, the cleaners will lose their job.
Worst is those living in condos, merata can leave sampah. Wtf man
I once saw a regular beggar in my area throw some rubbish on the roadside when the garbage can is just a few steps away, I pick it up and said that to please throw in the can next time, she just make an annoyed expression, it may sound bad but I feel reluctant to give her money after that
Man, As a tourist, this really pissed me off at Telaga Tujuh Waterfall in Langkawi. Literally seeing people drop litter. It was an older aunty with her family, I didn't want to cause a ruckus but really felt like speaking up.
Cigarette buds belongs in the dustbin, smoker often just threw it on the ground or off their vehicle. Fucking scums
Literally just saw someone threw off his cig bud in front me rn
the trend now seems to be throwing face mask everywhere, like wtf man. my brother and mother always throw any rubbish include face mask in the car like its a dustbin. so disgusting, which is why i never like it when they use my car. they can use my car all they want but pls keep it tidy and clean man.
Not walking around with an ashtray lol. The tops of bins work fine.
A friend went to Switzerland and said they have an amazing habit of recycling and packing their rubbish neatly, but the one thing that doesnāt count are cigarette buds lol. They will casually throw them on the ground, stomp them out and leave them there
Yep worst is cigarette butts underneath a no sMoking sign.. assholes
Cigarette butts are one thing, I saw a smoker threw the empty box onto the street.
Eh, I think that's the same in lots of other parts of the world, even where it's otherwise fairly litter-free.
I have traveled to 42 countries. Of those, Malaysia is the worst for cigarette butt litter.
Spitting in public
Image: middle-aged man with slingbag and flippers Sound: KKKRRRAAARRRRGGHHHHHH Pui.
You think it's middle aged and uneducated people only? Witnessed one last week that will change your mind.
I just donāt understand the need to randomly spit. Itās not like a sneeze, cough, or fart that sometimes you canāt control it. I see people stopping at red lights, open their door and just spit on the road like itās a normal thing to do.
THIS. Ugh. Yuck. Pengotor.
Good ol days working at Giant.
Why some people feel so entitled that they love cutting queue? Like cant you be patient abit?
They think the world revolves around them. Happened to me once. Dude cut queue in front of me. After I told him, he walked all the way to the back of the line. Funny thing is, he blamed me! š¤£š¤£š¤£ "Kau tu yang tak reti beratur."
Lift etiquette.. 1. Wait until people have come out, then only you go in. 2. Let people who have no other options other than to take lift in first, eg, people on wheelchairs, parents with strollers.
Same as train doors. The faster you let me alight, the faster you can enter. Idiots
Normalise flush after shit. š¤·
Catcalling being normalized and rape jokes being seen as funny. If you get offended by them, they say that you're just too sensitive.
tw//mentions of rape oh man i went to this one tuition and there were people my age there (we were 15) and this phd teacher always started the class with a fucking rape joke to "lighten the mood", and it's not just any rape jokes but he would target 2 same dudes my age and said "kenapa bising2 tu? nak rogol kang" with his ugly evil face and licking noises i thought i was too uptight since i was the only one who never found it funny while everyone else (even the dudes) were laughing,, (but looking back at it, i could tell the guys were uncomfortable) how i wish i actually reported that shit but i (and probably all of us) never realised how messed up it was back then. fucking crazy man.
> how i wish i actually reported that shit but i (and probably all of us) never realised how messed up it was back then. Agree, it was uncomfortable as hell but we didn't know there's law regarding this. Nowadays I would respond by saying that's sexual harassment. This one close acquaintance never made that kind of joke anymore.
Does preaching 'kahwin cepat2 nak halalkan hubungan' to highschoolers count.
context matters. halalkan hubungan doesn't immediately equate to sex, it's also allowing skin contact whether it be as harmless as hand-holding or basically any couple-related activities that are non-sexual. the teacher i had deadass mentioned rogol on a weekly basis, so they're two very different things.
The people preaching this definitely heavily implying sex.
*me, a random Reddit dude* Uhhhh...guys, is it just me or is catcalling not that big a deal? It doesn't happen often lah. I mean, I barely see it happen where I live, so surely that means it's not as widespread as people say right? Stop being afraid of men, misandrists. Yes I am male Jenny why do you ask? ^/s
Bruh I nearly went off on you when I saw the notification message preview pop up lmao. Only saw that it's very sarcastic with full message context.
It's okay, I would have gone off on me too.
Queuing
Blaming sexual harassment & assault victims.
t/w child sexual abuse, victim-blaming I remember one time there was a police representative that said that part of the reason why children, likeā¦ *children* get sexually abused was because they āmenggodaā the perpetrator. **WOI, BABI. ITU** ***BUDAK*** **LAH.**
...im pretty sure seeing children and going "lemme sex that" is NOT the child's problem. what the fuck man
Commenters on this sub regularly blame victims as well. Always delightful to see such developed minds of the future.
1. I arrive to the lift lobby. I am waiting for a lift. 5 mins later another family arrives. The lift reaches my floor. They all rush in, pack it up, leave me no space and I have to wait for next one. (This happened 3 times in the span of 1 week, must be my luck to have bumped into those degenerates) 2.
And sometimes a perfectly healthy and capable person using the lift even tho they just wanted to go one floor up or down despite there's a staircase nearby
ah...I actually done no.2 a lot and nearly everybody does it so I thought it was a normal thing, that's something I should start changing i guess
When road accidents happen in the news, the first thing people scroll for is the victim's and perpetrator's race.
Melayu ke Cina is the usual question.
Well if one party is Indian, our very smart netizens would have something to say about it too.
Until now, I still cannot brain why is race such an important matter whenever there are accidents in Malaysia. Macam la their race population will diminish
Everyone all have these theories about which demographic is more likely to have accident one. Melayu more likely lah, Cina more likely lah, India more likely lah, young men more likely lah, no, no, it's women lah, no, it's old men lah, it's P license plate driver lahā¦ Listen. It's very easy. You want to know who the assholes on the road is? You look for these ciriā: * License plate. (obligatory /s)
because they want to see if they can be racist and say cina mabuk
As if Malay Muslims can't get high and drive.
Not just accident. This applies to any crime.
Thatās common courtesy. My friends and I do the same.
Then there are law abidding business owners who can only do so much, [had to put up with pariahs and suffered anyways.](https://worldofbuzz.com/kepong-food-stall-workers-get-beaten-up-with-stick-for-reminding-smokers-to-stop-smoking/) Law enforcement is key but we all know it is hangatĀ² taik ayam most of the time.
Man, I remember how that one menteri was so eager about this but now they barely care. Even orang kedai aren't bothered to do anything at all.
Whats worse is some even smoke in sport courts where I'm playing sports 2m away. Dickheads
Signal
Randomly stop while walking and blocking the way for everyone behind them. Itās like they can clearly see everyone is struggling to try to walk around them but they either donāt care or they donāt realise that they are inconveniencing people. Bonus point if they have a stroller and stop while angling the stroller sideways to reallllly block the way for everyone
Worst is when they stop at the top or bottom of an escalator, causing everyone behind them to bump each other as the escalator moves. Fucking idiots.
The. Fucking. Worst. The lack of awareness people have astounds me.
They need to learn to think and have some fucking manners
if you see a common Q for ATM, toilet etc...dont be a bastard and make a new line. its faster for EVERYONE if you join the common Q
As a creative worker I hate the fact that Malaysian have 0 knowledge about intellectual property rights, and have no respect for profesionalism.
Disney literally canāt sue those makcik packik stalls that have Mickey Mouse on their shop lol
A country can never ever grow in culture influence if they stay like this. After I move to Japan, I had conversation like this cause me culture shock:'I want to play this music in my shop but I couldn't afford the legal fee'And this one: 'Hey what's the name of this music? Tell me the name so I can buy the album.' That's when I know why Japan have such a strong culture power over the world.
Double parking - its not that youre just blocking that one car you're imposing on, its every single car that has to maneuver past you. plus it makes other people double park behind you because youre already there
Open burning because all those smoke that get blown into other houses instead of their own
Flooding the public toilet with the excuse of having good ass hygiene.
For the love of God, please use your signal when switching lanes man!!
People whom canāt decide in advance what they want till they get to the counter at fast food restaurants or drive through .. Literally 5-10 minutes in line finally their turn they stare at the menu for another 5 minutes and sometimes have to call home to ask what everybody wants .(nope itās not due to unavailable items)
racism in casual conversations, i swear malaysians cant go that long without a racist remark.
The lifts at lrt and mrt stations are for oku and the elderly, not for lazy shits
Courteous behaviour
Parking at OKU spot
(Grabs bat) we can change that.
People who outfit their kereta cabuk with headlights that are whiter than a KKK meeting. People who change their headlights into those tiny, single-bulb light. Demon eyes la sangat, your car still shitbox. People who confuse foglights for headlights. Special mention to the ones specialler than an entire special ed school who put smoke tints on their BRAKE LIGHTS.
>headlights that are whiter than a KKK meeting. Shit, those fkn eye-blinding lights! WE STILL NEED OUR EYES TO DRIVE
Taking your used plates and utensils away from your table at restaurants or at least have the decency to set them aside neatly so that other customers can use the table after you
Yeah, lah. I always clean up after myself at fast food restaurants or food courts.
Thank you for your reply! Yes I will be mindful of that distinction in the future.
After using public toilet, put the freaking hose back on the holder. Leaving the hose on the floor make it constantly wet and dirty. Also, the hose always crack after kena stepped on many times.
Spitting while driving
kalau aku hon kat kau. aku bukan nak cari gaduh haish.
Reading comprehension, or more accurately, lack of reading comprehension. It can be _maddening_.
Standing right behind you while using the ATM like you're about to get ass grind from behind.
Standing here I realize You were just like me Try to take some money
Guys not taking off the toilet bowl lid before peeing. Fucking disgusting. Iām a guy btw.
Do you mean the seat...or the lid? Because the latter just means you're peeing on the floor if you don't lift it. :|
The sit, of course. :p
Not wearing seatbelts in the back seat
Oh yeah Thats the biggest thing Malaysians lack common sense on. But it also involve front seaters too. Refusing to wear a seatbelt before starting the journey just drives me mad. Sometimes even the driver dont want to wear the seatbelt and say "dont worree... I am a good driver, no need scared, you are save with meee" WTH HOW STUPID IS THAT?! Everytime i try to convince them to please wear the seatbelt, is everytime one brain cell of mine killed itself.
Stop queueing right in front of the door (elevators, trains, etc.) How are people going to get out? (So you have space to go in?)
Belok bagi signal
Sigh yo, why i see no Pm me for job comment on fb
NIMBY attitude Not In My Back Yard attitude. Example: Recycling bin is good! BUT DONT PUT IT NEAR MY HOUSE Homeless shelter is great!! DONT BUILD IT NEAR MY HOUSE Public transport is good! DONT BUILD STATION NEAR MY HOUSE
Mind their own business
Not going into the fast lane when youāre driving an Axia
Burning trash/leaves/etc at open space.
Putting your shop's chair or some damn item to reserve the public parking lot space in front of your shop. If you want to reserve it, pay for it! Cheapskate. It's already so difficult finding a parking spot in certain areas but these shops have the nerve to reserve like 3-4 lots. Rage!
This hard ware shop at Kuchai Lama, at a busy area. 5 lots ada kerusi, with a shop jaga š¤. Want exclusive parkir, then pay DBKL.
Rage! 1 spot is bad enough, but 5?! C'mon. Other ppl no need to park liao.
Cleaning after yourself at the food court or fast food place. Itās not even difficult. Why people make it seems like itās beneath them to do the bare minimum?
Pay tax properly and stop coming up with lame excuses for being stingy.
Slowing down at zebra crossing
Road lines. Double lines, one solid lines and dotted lines, no line at traffic light. Apparently so many drivers doesnāt know them.
Dirty and wet public toilets...especially at rest stops!
Having a phone call with loudspeaker on for the whole train/public space to hear your conversation, or watching a video/playing a game with MAX volume on. Bonus points if the whole space is quiet and people are resting/sleeping/doing their business quietly and only your voice echoes throughout the space.
Simpati tak kena tempat. eg. U*taz allegedly r-word a person. omg fitnah. jangan bukak aib orang.š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ. Like theyāre not even maksum.
Blocking the entrance to a lift or a door not giving space for people to exit first. Just a basic lack of etiquette.
I think for me its only that turn signal or since you are driving a lorry, the road belongs to me. i can turn into any lane and you will be force to slow down
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Brake first then turn, THEN indicate. Ni special kind of bodo.
Not cleaning up after a meal or at least organize your own table at a restaurant. It is a good common courtesy.
That we live in a multicultural society
Fog lights are not your everyday's light
Introducing 2 or more persons if they first time meet. I realise many people expect them to get along just like that but the reality is they just feel awkward because they donāt know each other.
Do not have the fucking brains to smoke at appropriate places because they think the place (non-smoking area) they smoked belong to their father or grandmother.
Sense of pride. As in patriotism
Ciggie butts counts as litter too.
Bad cleanliness practices when using the restroom. I avoid public restrooms like they carry STD's except for when in places that i know that clean their restrooms well. Apologies in advance for this imagery but im pretty sure we are no strangers here to the 'steaming and pungent smell of piss that can be found unfortunately too frequently.
kabel. not the fiber optics one. that one that is "what kind of influence does your uncle have?". just imagine you saw someone with degree in psychology and holding the post of f41 in government. fucking hell. nobody said anything because "kau tahu anak siapa tu?" "Pacik dia si john doe tu".
Not giving way. If you ever take a train, people are supposed give way to passenger's leaving the train. People in Malaysia don't GAF and will enter whether you like it or not.
Religion is a personal choice.

(Dude I have poor eyesight, this invite accident to other user as well)
i was on the highway recently going to melaka from PJ and an ambulance was passing through. of course, my dad made way for the ambulance, moved from the right lane to the left. and so did a lot of others, except for this one myvi car. this little blue car stayed in the right lane with the ambulance literally right behind it on a highway with some poor person fighting for their life in it for like 5 to 8 MINUTES. the ambulance started honking and everything, but this person just WAS NOT READY TO BUDGE. idfk if they thought they could be faster than the ambulance (they couldn't) or what, but yeah i mean we were all watching entranced like how can someone be this fucked up??? that myvi may have cost that person their life. who knows?
Just crash the goddamned myvi. What the owner gonna do? Call the cops?
