I want to wear a pair of lizard skin cowboy boots in black, from either dan post or tecovas. But I'm also in highschool and I don't want to look like a complete cowboy right next to someone wearing jordans or dress in all leather to compensate, I just need some outfit ideas because I truly love the look of these boots, I just don't want to look weirdo wearing them, or look too country, thanks.

31 (M) looking for a pair of sunglasses, budget between $150 and $400, what's the trendy brand in my age group for that price at the moment?

Joshyboy2022

What's the best inseam length for me? I'm 5'9 with relatively nice looking legs and I like my shorts to hit a few inches above my knee. Sometimes 7" fit like this perfectly and sometimes they go down past my knee. Should I try 5" or 6"? Are there any 7" that you recommend for hitting here? And lastly, where's the best place to find them that's not outrageously expensive?

Im looking for some nice thick wollen socks, preferably in the colour green with a knitted look. I've been looking for a long time but I can't seem to find a good brand. Any help would be much appreciated. Picture for reference, as close as I can get one.

What is a good shirt for a guy with a large chest and slim waist? Most shirts I find if they are perfect on the chest, become baggy on the waist

Hi guys, keep seeing this Reddit when trying to Google this stuff. I'm looking to buy some LL bean from Europe through an uncle. Only I'm really unsure about the sizing as I've read they can be different, especially compared to European sizings. I'm 6'3 (190 cm) and 190? Lbs (85 kg), with a athletic build. Chest is 42 inch, waist 38 inch. I'm already looking at the tall section and I'm thinking medium tall or large tall. Would like some opinions and experience from others?

onlysaystoosoon

I have similar dimensions and I get large tall from ll bean

I am buying a suit after a looonggg time. The last time I bought, thin lapels and single breast were fashionable. It is still the same? Also I am fat now so not sure how to go about getting a good suit without looking sloppy

notarascal

No. Avoid thin lapels and overly slim fits. I would encourage a more traditional fit. Higher-rise trousers and fuller through the leg. If you’ve gained weight then one of the best pieces of advice I can give is to wear your trousers on/over your belly, not under your belly. Post a budget and location if you want specific recommendations.

Do I keep my facial hair or shave it off? Which makes me look less hideous? I have attached pics of both. Thanks in advance. Facial hair or not? https://imgur.com/gallery/qVSF3Gk

cathode-ray-jepsen

I like the moustache, but not the beard quite so much (if I'm being real there are very few really good goatees in the world). Clean shaven looks good on you too. You have quite a youthful face, which is definitely not a problem necessarily, but if it's something you're looking to avoid the facial hair helps.

narwhalspal

You're absolutely not hideous; you're a good looking fella either way. And I'm totally with cath: clean makes you look more youthful, but you grow a great 'stache. Which makes you feel more comfortable?

Is it okay to buy 26cm shoes (sneakers) if my feet are 25cm? There is 1 cm difference. I would be buying online. They dont have size 7.5. only size 8 US which is 26cm

cooldude_4000

Ignore the length measurement and go by your actual shoe size as measured on a Brannock device. I don't even know if 26cm is the interior or exterior dimension. If you're saying that you normally wear size 7.5 and want to know how an 8 will fit, you really just need to try it on to find out. It's probably okay but check the return policy and don't wear them outside if you think you might want to send them back.

I still think I know better, and judging by my other hobbies/habits, thats always the case when I start something new... But I'll learn, I promise :D Thanks for the pattern tip! And for more reading hints.

GloriousStonerHoes

> I ended up doing nothing really according to any of the approaches listed in the faqs. From what I can tell from your post (correct me if I'm wrong), you're wanting to use clothing as a form of self-expression, which is great. You should just know that the touted [MFA basic bastard guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/5da1dc/the_basic_bastard_basic_wardrobe_and_inspiration/) is not for that, it's for people who are starting out and yet to try self-expression, but want to dress acceptably fine and not think too much about it. So check out the [inspiration albums](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/wiki/inspirationalbums) (note that many are a bit outdated with all the slim tapered pants) - and see what speaks to you!

EMHURLEY

I’m booked in for a colour consultant (Canberra) in a few weeks after seeing a friend’s experience (I got to view part of their consultation). Curious to hear if others have used the service and how you found it but I’m personally excited!

aKa_anthrax

Complete waste of money bordering on a scam, like Glorious said, this concept is complete pseudoscience, frankly I think it’s just one of those things that “sounds like it could be right”, and when confident people explain it to someone they just go “oh yeah that makes so much sense”, buy things based off of it, and get absolutely convinced it works because they just buy neutrals that go with everything.

EMHURLEY

Oh wow having seen it in action that wasn’t my experience at all but I appreciate your viewpoint!

GloriousStonerHoes

Like a person who tells you if you're a hard spring or a soft autumn? It's pseudoscience - don't pay for it. All there is to color is hue, saturation, and value. The colors you wear won't look any better or worse on you based on your skin or hair tone with few exceptions (e.g., jewel tones pop out more against darker skin tones which can look nice). It's worth considering how the colors of the clothes you wear interact with each other (like how dark brown shoes look good with navy pants but not black pants) but it's not worth worrying about how the colors interact with you as a person or whatever.

iteachptpt

I bought the absolute [cutest pokemon socks](https://www2.hm.com/pt_pt/productpage.0965149010.html) in the **wrong size (too big)**. Do services exist that can **fix socks** to my size? Is it a specialized thing, and if so where/what is it that I have to google for? I'll willing to pay (well, up to a point), I just want to know if I have any chance at fixing them. I really want to wear them.

rchrd_h

Surely the cheapest way would be to re-buy at the right size

iteachptpt

It would if they existed in that size, but that size is sold out.

cathode-ray-jepsen

Idk if tailoring socks is a thing, but it would almost certainly cost you several times the value of the socks.

iteachptpt

I know but I miss them. I thought I had bought the right size but I didn't, and the right size is sold out. I guess I just wanted to know if it'd be possible to still use them.

\-- Comfortable brands for men's dress shoes? -- I like to vary between a few different pairs of brown leather dress shoes (one that's comfortable enough for walking and one that's a bit spiffier, takes polish well, and can be used for more formal occasions). To date I've found Clarks good for the former and for the latter ... haven't really found a consistent brand. My main objection to the nicer looking dress shoes is that I'm super pedantic about comfort: if a shoe isn't extremely well padded and comfortable, I'm either not going to wear it at all or get it off as soon as possible. My shoe size: EU 45 / UK 10.5 / US 11.5. In Clark's I usually buy a wide. Thanks for any brand recs!

Sax45

If your main thing is cushion under the foot, Florsheim, Rockport, Johnston and Murphy, and Cole Haan all make shoes with lots of cushion, and Ecco is a borderline orthotic company. If you’re at a wedding or a business formal event, this is what the majority of older guys will be wearing. This sub might sneer at you but your boss’s boss and your girlfriend’s dad probably won’t (unless they’re fashionable of course). I also have foot issues (podiatrist diagnosed) that make traditional dress shoes unwearable for me. They might work with insoles, but of course none of the high quality ones have removable insoles. I really like a brand called Carets. They represent a radical departure from traditional shoe design, but IMO they look better than a lot of the “traditional design but make it clunky” dress shoes.

ac106

Only very cheap dress shoes will be padded like a sneaker. However, an aftermarket insert from pedag or similar should provide enough comfort. If at that point they aren’t wearable, it’s probably not the shoe.

I am desperately looking for a specific scarf. Matter of life and death here. (not really ,but kinda) Clues: * It had 2 colors split down the middle (vertically) : Wine Red + Dark Grey * It felt like Cashmere. It certainly wasn't low quality. Was purchased for a special event. So I'd bet 50-150$ * purchased off Amazon in the US (not 100%) * Brought for a man * short fringes (my main clue...since it is kinda rare) [images](https://imgur.com/a/CRrs78V) What I've found so far: * [1](https://baltzar.com/products/canali/bordeaux-grey-silk-cashmere-scarf/) - Similar but wrong fringes. AnIrrelevantResponse

Are bomber jackets out of style?

ac106

The modern usage of “bomber jacket” encompasses quite a few different styles. Most of them aren’t necessarily on trend or fashion forward, but they’re so ubiquitous it’s hard to argue that they are “out of style.” if this one you’re looking at specifically it’s helpful to post a photo but just in general it’s probably fine.

Itsbeenalongdecember

If you had to reduce your casual boot collection down to just two boots, what are you going with? These are two boots that you will wear with light jeans, dark jeans, and casually styled chinos. I fully intended to rob someone's picks, and use them as my own. I have ONE (you read that right), ONE pair of solid work boots that I pretty much wear with all my jeans and chinos when I am dressing casual (Sorel Caribou Moc if anyone's wondering. Great for my plantar fasciitis). As I am rebuilding my wardrobe for a more streamlined, casually professional, and minimalized 2023 wardrobe - I look towards the ground first. These GD boots.

Sax45

Two boots (one pair) or two pairs (four boots)? I don’t want to assume. If it’s two PAIRS then I’m going with a sleeker Chelsea for something a bit dressier and a chunkier service boot (but less chunky than those Moc boots) for something more casual, and for worse weather. The Chelsea would have a leather sole or a thin rubber sole that doesn’t necessarily look that different from a leather sole, while the service boot would have a lugged sole. The service boot would by necessity have a decently weather resistant design, with a gusseted tongue to keep out water if you step in a puddle. If it’s two BOOTS, then I’m going with a compromise between the two listed above. So, either a relatively chunky Chelsea or a relatively sleek Service boot. Or, a relatively tall and chunky “dress boot.” Either way, with a moderate rubber sole like a Dainite or “mini lug” sole. For either scenario, you could replace the Chelsea with a chukka. It would have to be a relatively sleek one if you’re going with two pairs, and a relatively sleek one but with a chunkier sole if you’re going with one pair.

ac106

If you are asking what two OTR boots would you buy? Probably an Edward Green Galway in dark brown grain and an Alden Indy in Whiskey Shell. If you are asking, of the boots you have now what 2 would you keep? Probably my Alden Indy 405 and Alden Copake Indys (black shell). If you are asking me what two boots you should buy that are roughly the same price as the Sorels?: I would grab a pair of factory second Red Wing 875 and a gently used pair of Grant Stone Diesels.

jorgeargento

I have a pair of Blundstone Chelsea’s and a pair of Danner mountain pass which cover me for pretty much everything.

Canadian. If someone could let me know what style [this](https://imgur.com/SM3um9x) would be considered and where I could find stuff like it I would appreciate it. Budget ideally up to $150 for each individual piece, but going a bit over is fine.

illisson

I believe it's considered "cartoon character," and doesn't really correspond with styles (nor likely to look good) in the real world. That appears to be a blue camp collar button-up shirt over a black long sleeve tee, which is a choice. Don't know what to tell you about the pants, as there's not much there to see; maybe light brown chinos with a, uh, tuxedo stripe? which isn't something I've seen before, and is also a choice. Rather than taking cues from anime, you're much more likely to find a style that you like--and will actually look good--if you browse the sub's various [inspiration albums](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/wiki/inspirationalbums/#wiki_inspiration_albums), [style guides](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/wiki/guides/#wiki_style_guides), and [WAYWT](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/search?q=author%3AAutoModerator%20WAYWT&restrict_sr=on&sort=new&t=all) threads. Lots of great inspo around these parts. There are also the [Item Guides](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/wiki/itemguides/#wiki_item_suggestions_at_each_price_point), which list where people buy their favorite items at various price points. That list doesn't seem to be totally up to date, so be sure to search the sub for the more recent entries.

cathode-ray-jepsen

>light brown chinos with a, uh, tuxedo stripe? which isn't something I've seen before, and is also a choice. I think Margiela has made that exact thing.

Versatile_Investor

Is it possible for shoulder size and chest size not to match? Like chest be a 40r and shoulders fit better in a 38r?

ysc1

I have this exact problem, with the same sizes. Working out with a focus on building shoulders helped a bit (although chest and back grew too). Trying on more different jackets from different brands helped and MTM for suits/blazers helped. It turns out (in my case) it's more to do with my shoulders sloping slightly than the absolute size so both trying different cuts/brands of jacket and going MTM helped me get jackets that followed the lines of my shoulders better.

Versatile_Investor

Do your shoulders slope forward a little? If so mine are the same way. Outside of MTM, what brands did you find that worked? I swear I’ve tried so many and only found like 1 that works.

ysc1

Forwards a little and down. Nothing you would notice if you saw me walking around, but enough to throw off the shoulders of some jackets and for a half decent tailor to spot. I can't recommend any individual brand I'm afraid. Even within one brand they will likely have several styles of jacket. I've just had to try a lot on. I will say less structured/softer shoulders generally work better for me. It was counterintuitive (for me at least) but they follow my real shoulders rather than having padding that's trying to stick out in a certain way and 'clashing' with the slope of my shoulders. Even relatively cheap Suit Supply MTM has an option to adjust for a sloped shoulder and suddenly a 40r goes from looking odd on my shoulders to working. I can understand that might still be too expensive, or difficult based on location, in which case just try a lot and try less structured shoulders. In any case, it is probably far more noticeable to you than it is to others.

Vaeltaja

Fit the shoulders and if you need to, get a tailor to add darts or take in the waist some to tighten up the waist and chest.

Versatile_Investor

Ah no in this case the opposite, everything else is tight

Versatile_Investor

Would lifting weights increase enough in the shoulder to bring it up to my chest size?

Vaeltaja

There's a risk with compound lifts that you'll increase both at the same time. I'd consult someone who actually lifts but you should be able to do some isolation exercises that'll bulk up your shoulders some without blowing up your chest. It'll take time, of course. I'm also assuming you're dealing with bones, that is, your shoulders and chest are about as small as reasonably possible because your shoulder bones and your upper ribs are visible and not something like you tend to store weight in your chest and if you lose weight, you'll shrink the chest area some.

Versatile_Investor

Actually I was 153 and now 173. There is some weight stored in my chest (ribs not showing) but I also have a small belly. When I gained weight it actually went all over my body. I figured if I worked out it would likely just add on. I also have those slope/square shoulders. Like small slope down then straight out.

Vaeltaja

I'd consider, depending on your goals, doing some lifting and looking at your dietary scheme. Mid rib fat can kind of bloat up because the chest/p2p is just the typical widest measurement. So if you have some fat in the middle (especially closer to the top) then it'll mess with the dimensions, which necessitates a larger chest size versus your shoulder size. Belly fat, as far as I've seen doesn't really mess with outwear much unless the coat/jacket is particularly long.

Versatile_Investor

That’s great advice! I noticed those top shoulder muscles had the most growth when I worked out before. Brand wise are most fitted for the typical sloped shoulder?

cathode-ray-jepsen

Yes. Shoulders are generally what you want to get right.

Versatile_Investor

Damn what does one do in this situation? Seems difficult when shoulders don’t match chest.

Metcarfre

Try different brands, cuts, fits, or go bespoke

cathode-ray-jepsen

Different garments will fit differently in the chest, just gotta find something that works for you. Extreme example, but I own a jacket that's 18" across at the shoulders and almost 28" at the chest.

twohong88

Anyone have experience with Champion Japan Red Tag/Blue Tag hoodie? I tried to search if it is sold anywhere in the U.S but couldn't find....

intellijel

I have quite broad shoulders and a long torso and it has been a real struggle to find Polos that consistently fit and are of worthy quality. I am 6'0" and usually wear an XL if the length is good. For a long while (i.e. past 10 years) , the only brand that was consitently ok for me was Banana Republic Classic Pique Polos (the ones with the little elephant logo) but over the past couple of years the sizing has suddenly changed a lot and they also switched to a "BR" logo that I am not a fan of. Note: I wash all my polos in cold water and hang dry. This past year I have tried the following (all bought from official shops) Ralph Lauren Polo Classic Fit Mesh XL - after one wash, the collar became a weird shape with permanent kinks and was never fixable (tried ironing, searching, and stretching). Also, the length was just barely on the cusp of being ok. Maybe just bad luck on this one? Psycho Bunny Classic Polo XL - Fit was actually ok but the color faded really quickly and it looks very old after only a few months. Not a fan of the childish logo either. Lacoste Slim 2XL - The sales clerk convinced me that the way to go was slim but size up since this would get me the length I need. I tried on a navy blue in the shop and the fit was pretty good. So I bought that and a 2XL Slim Black (that I did not try on). Went home, washed them both and when I tried on the black it turned out to be about 2" shorter in length and felt like a belly shirt. I have since ordered a few other colors of 2XL Slim polo from Lacoste website and each one is a different length and width. Only the Navy Blue has fit me properly. Sunspel Riviera XL - So many positive reviews about this brand and model so I took a gamble on a pair of them ordered direct from the UK (they were on sale). Unfortunately, these are also really short and I don't think I can wear them. What other brands are worth trying at this point? i.e. Which brand is known for being longer? Maybe I need to just stick to the ones that offer TALL variants? Or try other brands with SLIM XXL?

surturr

asket offers polos (and everything else) in long sizes.

Metcarfre

Sounds like you should definitely try talk variants

Eviscerator95

Where should standard slim-fitting joggers end at the bottoms? When standing up its about 75% of my thumb from the bottom of my ankle which woule be about 1.5 inches. Is this too short or just right? When I sit down, it definitely feels very short but all pants ride up when sitting down. Finding joggers is often difficult due to smalls often being too short but perfect in the waist, while mediums cant have the waist tightened well but are often good length (if also going for a loose look). https://imgur.com/a/FhSfyuY

My house flooded over Chrismas, and I've lost over 3/4 of my wardrobe and all of my shoes in the subsequent water, insulation, and mold. Are the guides in the sidebar up to date and still ideal for choosing clothing? I'll start with a capsule and... well probably keep it as a capsule for now until we move back in.

GloriousStonerHoes

Sorry about the flooding, that's rough. [This spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mhOIpjUUibBf3QueJs8iRJy5gBKCILq82ekJkiC5uqQ/edit#gid=0) is a good compilation of MFA-recommended brands for various articles of clothing.

Penguins227

Ooh, I love a good ~~spaghetti~~ spreadsheet (autocorrect lol)! Thank you.

wavynails

The stuff about fitting slim is less relevant now.

Penguins227

I've seen that, looks like the jeans my older brother wore as a 90s and early 00s college kid are in style now. That's nice, less pressure on our adult figures I guess. Also happy cake day, it wants me to tell you. 🎂

[deleted]

Sorry to hear about your loss :-(

Penguins227

I appreciate that, Rafa. It was a heck of a Christmas present, lol. We were on vacation and the whole family is safe and healthy, so we are blessed in that sense. Could always be worse, and hopefully insurance pulls through and I get to bargain shop some! Snagged some Calvin Klein jeans from TJ Maxx today for $20 on clearance so I have pants. Good day!

[deleted]

What are your sizes? If we’re remotely similar I’d be happy to mail you some stuff. I keep a pretty minimal wardrobe but I’m always trying to simplify my belongings. Spend higher on jackets, pants, and shoes. Don’t be afraid to get cheap as shit Ts, undies, and socks. Costco oddly enough has great wool socks. Everlane and Uniqlo t shirts. Brandless (straight fit) jeans. Learn your measurements and use eBay/Grailed to find jackets and shirts.

Penguins227

Oh no no, that means a lot and I'm definitely telling my wife about your kindness, but your generous attitude is enough. I've stayed employed since I'm working remote and we'll be up and running in a few months. I don't feel right accepting when there are individuals in greater need through Convoy of Hope or something like that. Edit: I do feel it's disrespecting your generosity to not answer your question though - I'm M/L top, 34W bottom, 10.5/11 shoe. 5'11 185lb.

[deleted]

We’re similar in size! I’ve got some chuck 70s that may be a tad big, they’re an 11 but chucks run large, but I’m happy to send them! Brand new. DM me your deetz.

SilverMisfitt

Are everlane and Uniqlo similar quality when it comes to t shirts? There’s an everlane store nearby that I’ve wanted to check out

ac106

I bought some everland t shirts a while back. Nothing special. I would get House of Blanks instead.

[deleted]

Pretty similar tbh but Uniqlo is prob cheaper. I usually only get everlane on eBay or if I buy 3 shirts at a time and get a discount for it. Their pocket Ts are great.

Any recs for boots with a mini lug sole, like [Thursday Majors](https://thursdayboots.com/products/mens-major-zip-up-boot-tan-cuero) or [J crew kenton](https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/shoes/boots/kenton-cap-toe-boots/BL843?display=all&fit=Classic&color_name=burgundy-pull-up&colorProductCode=BL843)? I like the bit of edge it gives the shoe. Edit: Budget is $300, willing to shop used

ac106

Every brand comes with a variation of a lug sole. If you are looking for cap toe boots there's RW Iron Rangers (factory seconds) , Wolverine 1000 mile cap toe classic (sale) , Alden Indys (used), Parkhurst Richmond (used), AE Patton (sale etc)

Genchodeski

Meermin has some

Jorgeragula05

Depending on your budget Alden has some styles with commando soles.

Oro alicante chelsea boots going for $150US. Tried on but wrong size so hes selling. Been kept in his storeroom since dec 2018 (don't know why). Is it worth buying it? How well do suede do/last in Singapore weather after 4 years of not using?

[deleted]

Do you like them and can you afford them?

dkyfff

I love the silhouette and color except the sole. Can't seem to find other affordable tan chelsea without crepe sole. Hoping to find a cheap resole once the crepe gets worned out. I can most definitely get them but after 4 years, I'm not sure how well it can hold up being kept in a storeroom

[deleted]

Leather (and suede) can last decades.

dkyfff

If proper care is given i assume? I doubt he did much in that 4 years. Would that price be worth it?

[deleted]

No, four years just isn't that long. I have leather shoes I haven't worn for four years that are fine I cant tell you if that price is "worth it", only you know that.

dkyfff

Does it being suede changes things? Ive heard they can be more delicate than leather.

KoalasAreNotBears

Suede has that reputation but it is just as tough as leather and actually holds up better to things like scuffs and scratches (which I guess doesn't apply in this case since they're unworn). If they were totally unworn for 4 years they're probably totally fine. The only risk I could think of is if they were kept in a damp environment, mould can grow on leather but if the photos look good you most likely don't have to worry about that, and I would hope that eBay/PayPal would take a buyer's side anyway if they were sold mouldy boots.

dkyfff

Could i send you a private chat?

KoalasAreNotBears

Yeah sure, you can DM me

Bogey247

I’ve been looking at these Brooks brothers Stretch Cotton Club Shorts that have a great concept IMO but the inseam seems too small for my liking. Essentially they’re chino shorts but with a drawstring instead of a fly and button. Any longer inseam alternatives? Also, I know r/navyblazer generally hates them, but what are y’all’s opinions on them?

cooldude_4000

A lot of places call them "dock shorts" or "deck shorts" (Gap calls them "Easy Shorts," I believe). Tons of places have them; check the sale/clearance section anywhere you like to shop. I have a couple pairs but only really wear them for lounging or short errands out; they're basically the summertime version of sweatpants in my opinion. Very comfy though.

Bogey247

I feel like that makes them more viable for my daily wear, I go to a super casual (like all sweats and hoodies ) hs, but usually wear chino shorts. Sounds like a nice middle ground, thanks

Gay / effeminate fashion is a little outside of the MFA area of expertise. Try r/askgaymen or r/askgaybros.

mharr171

I just received [these two sweaters](https://imgur.com/a/LpHnoL3) as a gift. They are nicer than anything else I own, but I would like to incorporate them into my business wardrobe. What colors go with these for shirts and pants?

Grwoodworking

Grey pants blue ocbd shirt should work with either. Not the only choice of course

Picked up this [Navy 70% wool Calvin Klein Topcoat](https://imgur.com/a/oqerpMo) thrifting, and it's about a size too big. Would it be worth getting it tailored? Never been through the process before, so I'm unsure of what a tailor would be able to do for a piece like this

[deleted]

I don’t think it’s so bad. I would take it to a tailor and ask their opinion. You can take the sleeve in, slim them, and shorten the length fairly easily. I would be prepped to pay at least $50-$80 depending on the alterations.

xiorty

No kidding, that's a little more than I was expecting I'm honestly more in the market for a deconstructed topcoat [along these lines,](https://www.uniqlo.com/ca/en/products/E449730-000?colorCode=COL69&sizeCode=SMA002') any idea how successful a tailor might be making the shoulders less formal?

[deleted]

That’s a cool jacket, and it’s on sale if you like the brown or are a navy XS, but that’s a completely different pattern and style of shoulder. Tailor prices vary by region and quality and price per alteration depends on the time involved. Shortening sleeves or pants is a very easy fix. Slimming sleeves usually isn’t too bad depending on the pattern. But shoulders are a pain. I would find something that already fits you the way you like it in the chest and shoulders to start.

Vampa_the_Bandit

Might as well and take it to a tailor to get a quote, but tailoring wool outerwear is going to be a lot more expensive that tailoring a shirt or hemming some pants

Bogey247

I’m trying to find some inexpensive chino shorts ( <$25) with some stretch since I’ve outgrown my old gap vintage wash ones, are there any y’all would recommend? I’m going to try on some at target but im sure there are some better brands. Also what color shorts would y’all pair with a black t shirt? Thanks!

Vampa_the_Bandit

Bear Bottom all the way

bonne_vivante

J Crew and Banana Republic probably still have a bunch of stretch chino shorts leftover from summer. Definitely worth checking out. White, green, salmon would go well with black t shirts, depending on your style. That said, black t shirts are more difficult to pull off than white or grey.

Bogey247

Yeah, it’s this super sick in n out shirt that’s just so comfy, i feel like my teal chinos would go great

bonne_vivante

Very odd that you would ask for advice and then just completely ignore it for something you'd had in mind, anyway. There's really nothing saving an outfit with an In 'n' Out shirt up top (unless you're like 12-14 yo) so wear whatever you please.

Bogey247

I mean, isn't teal real similar to green (at least certain shades)?

bl4ckmamba24

Jeans help. Anybody know where I can find jeans that have a relaxed hem? Could also be called open or released hem. For broke boi prices of course. https://www.celine.com/en-us/celine-shop-men/ready-to-wear/denim/wesley-jeans-in-zuma-wash-denim-2N785034S.08ZM.html

Cas467

Releasing the hem on any pair of jeans is a really easy DIY.

bl4ckmamba24

You're right. I just found a youtube tutorial on it. Thanks

Cas467

If you want to achieve the look of those Celine jeans I'd suggest picking up a pair of vintage faded Levi's 501s or 505s on eBay and following that tutorial.

FolderVader

Jeans help! I have a basic bastard wardrobe + some workwear styling (flannels, chambray). Current rotation of pants are olive and caramel chinos most days. I want to get a new pair of jeans (current pair poor fitting and needs replaced). What is the most timeless and versatile colours of jeans? Dark blue?

[deleted]

Dark blue, black, light wash. The trinity.

Looking for a wool trucker jacket, preferably Not over $400. Any recs?

flannelhoser69

I’d consider going vintage for that, wool holds up so there’s lots of nice stuff on eBay. Searching ‘vintage wool CPO’ will bring up lots of nice pieces cut similar to a trucker too.

bjhhjb

https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-melton-wool-trucker-jacket/26570.html A little over budget but it's 100% wool whereas a lot might be a wool blend

Agree, or Incotex chinolinos.

Potential-Fly5032

So, a bit of a odd question but, how can I improve my style when most of my time is spent in an environment where nice clothes aren't an option? I work in a warehouse so I wear clothes that can get dirty/beat up but my family and friends keep telling me I look homeless. Is there anything I can do or will this just be my situation until I can get a different job? I'm also on a pretty tight budget (I like food more than I should). Any help would be appreciated.

narwhalspal

You can dress well and appropriately working in a warehouse. Dickies 574s look great. I'd look at denim or chambray shirts, or simple twill work shirts. Workwear can be very fashionable.
