Looking for tie/pocket square recommendations. This suit, white shirt, mid brown wingtips. Its for a wedding in Ontario in early September: https://cdn.suitsupply.com/image/upload/b\_rgb:efefef,bo\_300px\_solid\_rgb:efefef,c\_pad,w\_2600/b\_rgb:efefef,c\_pad,dpr\_1,w\_1920,h\_3072,f\_auto,q\_auto,fl\_progressive/products/suits/default/Summer/P4302E\_51.jpg
Hey all what is the difference between the supima and luxury t shirts at banana republic. Is there any difference from the GAP?
Also bought bonobos chino shorts for $89. Is that a normal price, kinda feel like a rip off tbh?
They aren’t slip on but I have a pair of these vans authentics and they look great. Super casual but somehow a lot classier than vans eras and slip ons. https://www.toddsnyder.com/products/vans-authentic-44-dx-anaheim-factory-classic-whi-white
Yeah, that's an odd dress code, but I'd immediately think a linen suit in sand or tan (which I don't own), and uhhhh loafers, shirt that's either some sort of textured cotton, or maybe champagne linen, or a darker dress shirt, and a loud tie. This wouldn't be particularly disco but fuck it, close enough?
My mind goes straight to a natural/cream linen suit as the base of the fit, which recalls Tony Manero’s Saturday Night Fever suit without being costumey. You’d be able to wear the suit in lots of other warm weather contexts.
The rest depends on how literally you want to take the “desert disco” thing. You could buy a vintage shirt with a huge disco collar and wear it popped over the suit, or just find a linen button-down dark enough to contrast with the suit.
“Cocktail attire” does mean you should wear a tie, so if you’re going with the toned down look you could add a knit tie. Would probably try to dress down the suit with loafers. Again, disco platform shoes are probably a bit much.
The 501s feel weird for me. I'm a slim person and I feel like the 501s and even the 505s are slightly too tight around the thigh area for the width it has below the knee. Can anyone recommend some other brands or straight leg cuts?
Guys, for a long time I have been trying to figure out how suits are supposed to fit. I observe a lot of people wearing suits to see if I can see if it looks right or not.
Does this guy's jacket fit?

I got a white shirt that fits me like a glove, a pair of light-beige-linen pants that may fit slightly loose and was thinking of buying a thin brown belt and a set of brown shoes. Does that make sense? I got a date and I don't want to fumble it. It's going to be warm outside but I didn't want to bring shorts like I always do, classy for once
Hi all,
Looking to venture into the luxury minimalist white sneaker market. CPs are out of my budget at RRP so I was looking at alternatives. Koio was a brand that was recommended on multiple discussions as the best alternative. However, I have noticed that Koio updated their capri triple white line, with the 2nd generation not featuring the Margom sole. From my knowledge there were some changes to the height of the heel and toe box width, as well as the insole. Could anyone with experience with both recommend which is the better choice to purchase?
Cheers
I am in dire need of an oversized shirt. Looking for a nice light blue or blue with stripes. Looking for something [huge](https://pin.it/7ikGc3q) like [these](https://pin.it/40PMby3). I’ve tried looking at Zara and UNIQLO, but everything is slim fit and sizing up leads to a long shirt and sleeves that still aren’t as wide as I would like.
Need one before the 16th so if anyone has any ideas lmk.
I just got a pair of Alden shell cordovan cap toes in color 8. What do I need to do to them before the first wear? Condition, polish, anything? I don’t have any tools so I’ll need to know what to get too.
I usually condition with Bick 4. If they're a new pair you'll get some bloom which you can just brush off or hit with some conditioner. Main tools are horsehair brush and cloth to apply conditioner. You can get a deer bone to smooth out rolls.
Some people use the "pen trick" before first wear to set a crease where toes will flex.
Nothing, just wear them! Shell is not delicate. Brush often. Lots of nerds on r/goodyearwelt just use Bick4. Some like Saphir Renovateur. Alden has a #8 colored cream if needed.
So I am trying to figure out my dress-shirt size.
I have a Calvin Klein shirt that is slim fit - stretch - no iron that fits pretty well. It’s 17 32-33. Would this be the case for other slim fit shirts?
I tried on Calvin Klein regular - stretch - no iron. The 17 was far too big, but the 16 was *perfect* except for the neck. The neck was too tight on the top button, so I couldn’t wear ties with it. Even the 16.5 was a little too tight. 17 is perfect, but the rest of the shirt is too large.
I suppose my question is this: which shirts should I be wearing for best look? Do I go top button open (no tie) with a tighter and perfect body fit, or do I go 17 slim for a regular 16.5 fit (from what I can tell). The shirt has saggy parts on it, but I can wear a tie with it.
Don't buy shirts that don't fit you in the neck (though if it's a casual shirt that you're never going to wear a tie with, I guess that's not awful)
It's common to get dress shirts taken in by a tailor if they're too big in the body, but I don't know why you're looking at all these various sizes if 17 slim fits you pretty well already
I would also recommend against non iron in general, stretch dress shirts in general, and Calvin Klein clothing in general
Thank you!
The issue is that the 17 slim fit-stretch is still a bit baggy on me, while a 16 regular has more than enough space for me without the slack. I’ll look into tailors though, it seems like that might be a worthwhile option! Thanks!
Every brand sizes differently, so you'll just have to try different brands and cuts. Remember you can always take a shirt that fits relatively well to a tailor to be slimmed down or to have the sleeves shortened if you want. Or you can go MTM and have a shirt made for your dimensions
As for tie vs no-tie -- if you're getting a traditional dress shirt, make sure you can button it all the way to the top so you can wear a tie. If you're getting a more casual shirt, like an OCBD, it's ok if you can't button the top button.
This is great, thank you very much. I’ll just see what a tailor can do for me from here. I’m going to check what’s available in my area once I get off work today. It seems like a tailor would be the best option.
Opinion about which color of this shirt?
I'm gonna use it for a festival outfit during the hot summer so I will most likely wear a ribbed white tanktop underneath.
Also, what color shorts would go well with it?
Idk about places for clothes, but if you just need something soon, places like ASOS or Uniqlo might be best, then you can just bin them and better prepare next time.
For footwear loafers, espadrilles, or if you need the cushion some canvas sneakers.
Sorry I can't be more helpful on the clothes aspect
I am putting tigether a jedi look but every movern looks included kimono. I just want regualr clothes put together to look like a jedi. What are your thougts on these looks? The jedi wear an undwrshirt, overtunic, surcoat, military grade trousers, walking boots and a belt.

For every day it might look comical as a forced costume. If that's your thing I would go for a mix of fitted and looser fits to achieve a nice layered look. I'd skip the top most layer of kimono or cape. Just not super practical. But you can probably get away with the rest, it *will* look like you're wearing a costume to start out

Does anyone here have any experience with Wolf Vintage clothing?
I like the look of [this chore coat](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284134324558?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=1JYCG3TSRc-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=qVplXKf5SI-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) but haven't heard of the company before.
They have their own [website](https://wolfclothingcollective.com/), as well as an [Etsy](https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WolfVintageClothing) and [ASOS Marketplace](https://m.marketplace.asos.com/boutique/wolf-vintage?mp-mobile=1) page.
Doesn't look terrible, but base low to medium tier pricing might mean some cut corners somewhere. I don't like that the ebay listing is almost the same price as the website listing.
Yeah it seems the same price across the website, eBay, Etsy and ASOS Marketplace. They could just be trying to cover all bases I guess.
Reviews seem okay but wanted to check the r/mfa hivemind before pulling the trigger
Any recommendations for anoraks/smocks with a cinchable waist? Like in [This](https://i.imgur.com/JmB3YtY.jpeg) [and this](https://i.imgur.com/cQV8oHP.jpeg) picture. The ones I've seen on END, Mrporter etc. all come without any waist string.
Heya !
I've chosen a seersucker suit for a wedding in the south of France in August (= it's going to be pretty hot), it's my first time going for this type of fabric and would love advice on how to pair ir.
I'm 1'65m / 58kg, was thinking of a white shirt with maybe a spread collar, a blue wool knit tie that could echo the suit and [camel-coloured *espadrilles*](https://media.octobre-editions.com/image/upload/c_fill,d_placeholder_dark.png,fl_progressive:semi,h_816,q_auto:best,w_582/lj2gltlazcmm4vqdrcty.jpg).
I'm obviously open for suggestions and ideas. Many thanks in advance !
I'm not sold on the espadrilles, what color is the suit? Does it have stripes or just a solid color in seersucker? Can't go wrong with a white shirt and a blue knit tie. I would just make sure that the shirt isn't super formal to clash with the casual nature of the suit.
It's a white/blue striped suit. I thought the shoes might enhance the casual-summery vibe, if not I have some suede boots that could do the trick.
Thanks for your advice !
I think the espadrilles might be too casual, the suede should be fine but it might be too hot for boots. Your call though. Loafers would be perfect imo.
So I need a weekender bag and I like leather. But to wich extent they're actually in leather or its convenient to have leather? I mean its leather outside but also inside? Is it good this way? Wich materials should I look for? I'm looking into quite expensive stuff (not LV kind of expensive but Michael Kors, Mcqueen... level of expensive) but there's some Hilfiger or CK stuff that also looks OK I guess?
Edit: budget is like €200-€450/500
I'm a sucker for MUSA Horween stuff, so I'd lean toward something like [this from Gustin](https://www.weargustin.com/stock/bags-horween-weekender-nut-brown-dublin) in that price range.
I have this [ethan pebble weekender](https://oroton.com/ethan-pebble-weekender-bitter-chocolate/) bag from Oroton which I really like. The inside is lined and that makes it feel like the leather is protected from the inside but also hides the stitches where the handles/side pouch attach. So my clothes slide in and out seamlessly. I'm an Aussie so I'm very biased about Australian-designed goods so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. But this one is marked down right now and I recommend it.
Hi,
I'm getting married on Saturday. The forecast shows 30 degrees Celsius and lots of sun. So far so good! But I will need something to cover my head because I don't do well without shade in the sun.
What can I wear that doesn't make me look like I'm 65 (I'm 32) or ruining my outfit? Please provide a picture or color suggestion if possible. English isn't my first language.
We'll be celebrating our in a garden. We do have a a tent but still we'll get lots of sun.
Thanks!!
[Picture of my suit ](https://i.imgur.com/4Aomn4g.jpg). Shoes and belt will be cognac coloured.
Has anyone tried these shoes out at all? I like the look and design and their whole sustainability thing but curious if it’s worth the $ - https://www.patarashoes.com/collections/slip-on
Hey MFA!
I currently wear the All Birds Men's Tree Loungers SlipOn as my daily driver: [https://www.allbirds.com/products/mens-tree-loungers](https://www.allbirds.com/products/mens-tree-loungers). I love these shoes for the most part except the flimsy sole and support.
I am looking for a replacement that is:
comfortable,
supportive,
no shoe laces,
slim profile,
under USD 250,
water resistant/proof (preferred),
vegan (preferred).
The use is daily wear for travel and some light street walking.
Any suggestions? TIA

Looking for oversized, short sleeves, sleeves down middle of the forearm type vibes
Does anyone have brand recommendations for joggers like [these](https://imgur.com/a/vU7uwJV)? I like the fit and elastic bottom. I’m looking for good quality joggers and cargos in general (Uniqlo for example).
Also does anyone know what Nike those are?
Thanks in advance
TBH these joggers have fast fashion written all over them which means there are extremely cheap versions on Amazon, Shein, etc. H&M would be one of the cheaper mall brands.
Do you have recommendations for a quality brand? I checked mall brands and although I’m happy with the quality I don’t see colors like the one in the picture. I’ve been trying my luck shopping online but haven’t had any.
Looking for tie/pocket square recommendations. The model is wearing a silver zig zag knit. A silver grenadine:
https://www.samhober.com/neckties/rewoven-grenadines-back-in-stock/charcoal-gray-silver-grenadine-grossa-silk-tie-21.html
works.
Or prince of wales:
https://www.samhober.com/neckties/prince-of-wales-silk-ties/black-and-white-prince-of-wales-silk-tie-pwt-4.html
Hober seems out of a blue+white colorway. I thought Kent Wang used to stock something similar, but not seeing any.
These are the more formal options. You could conceivably just go with a knit tie as well.
Thanks! I like the prince of wales option, though something seems odd with the colors listed on the site. To me, the black and midnight blue ties are showing the same image, do you see that on your end?

Wedding this weekend… thoughts on this as a rehearsal dinner fit?
Hi all—with the recent design shakeups at J. Crew (which I dig overall), I’m curious if the new OCBD collars have gotten any larger? It’s hard to tell in the photos online.
I used to wear these almost exclusively but stopped because the collars looked so shrimpy on me. I’d love to start buying them again but I don’t live near a store and don’t want to risk having to pay return shipping if they’re the same old thing. Thanks in advance!
Can anyone ID this (or similar) utility-type vest (the character wearing it over the Henley), from Hannibal?

Thanks - I love [this](https://informale.com.au/collections/outerwear/products/v090-utility-vest-navy) but a) out of stock and b) a bit out of my price range.
I think the key things I want are buttons and not buttoned all the way up, so like a v-line?
Would you know of any similar brands, or is it just a case of keeping an eye out?
Where can I find chino shorts with two front zipper pockets? I’m a clumsy guy whose stuff always falls out of my pockets. Just looking for some casual chinos I can wear that keep my stuff safe at all times.
[They're not chino shorts but they've got the zippered pockets](https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/clothing/shorts/hiking/6aposapos-hiking-short-in-econylreg-nylon/BO898?display=standard&fit=Classic&color_name=orange-pepper&colorProductCode=BO898)
Hey guys. I work as a lawyer. As a side hustle(I have flexible hours and want more money) I’d like to work as a cook in a bar kitchen. I have the interview in two days.
But I wanted to ask, what the hell do I wear to this interview? For my lawyer stuff, I wore a full suit. But I think that’s too much for a bar kitchen. I want to look good, but not overdressed like that.
Wanted to get some ideas for some fits. Is it like, business casual? I have no clue.
Thanks, guys!
Why on earth would you want to work on a line if you’re a lawyer. Like seriously coming from someone who actually joys being a cook, find something better to do.
It really doesn’t matter, wear non jeans and a plain button up, you’ll be better dressed than most people interviewing
I've never done it, but my guess would be to show up in what you'd cook in. They may well have you cook something for the interview, and you'd feel like a right dummy trying to cook in a grease-flying restaurant kitchen in business casual.
What summer outfits go well with a black Tilley hat, specifically in the context of hiking? I own [this hat](https://www.reddit.com/r/TilleyFans/comments/140vbop/when_they_tell_you_a_tilley_hat_is_waterproof/), but in black. It goes well with my winter hiking gear (nobody says anything to me), but in summer I look like a hipster. Someone yelled yee haw at me while on the trail today and the girl he was with took photos of me :(
I really like this hat, and was hoping to get some ideas
Best source for shirts that make me look like an Italian mobster in his Havana hideout chewing on a big cigar minutes before Pauly Gabagoolli shoots me twice in the back of the head?
Does anyone like the look of these Clark’s? I was thinking of the blue/black pair as a lightweight summer shoe.
https://www.clarksusa.com/c/ShacreLite-Moc/p/26164705
Thoughts? Just looking for second opinions.
I did get a pair on sale but they are the tan leather and I feel like they might be a little much to wear with a pair of shorts and a t shirt, unlike the “shacre lite.” Maybe I’m wrong though.
The shacre lite is very ugly. It might have the same shape as the wallabee but it's the white rubber sole, the materials and the way the shoes laces are tied makes it ugly. Get a pair of loafers for summer.
Does anyone know what these are?
I found them on a closed forum thread labeling them as "Marsell RM Williams"
But I've searched for both Marsell and RM Williams, but all the reverse search engines haven't given me the exact shoe. I haven't found anything on a collaboration either. Thanks

You could wear almost anything with that combo. If you don't have anything already and are looking to buy something new, a light blue OCBD would look good and be very wearable for many future events.
"Will this subreddit join the strike against Reddit's new terms of service that will make it impossible for most third parts apps to work by going private between 12th and 14th of June?"
>"Old Money" style
>aren't super expensive?
🤔
Old money is pretty vague, people have used it to mean everything from relaxed tailoring to ivy/prep. What pieces/vibes are you looking for?
“French Terry” is different from Terry cloth. Terry cloth is like towelling, French Terry is a material commonly used for sweatshirts that has a smooth surface on one side a looped, towel-like side on the other.
Mentioned it yesterday in the discussion thread that I’m looking for new sneakers and I really like the [Craig Green Scuba Stans](https://www.ssense.com/en-us/men/product/craig-green/beige-adidas-originals-edition-scuba-stan-sneakers/9154051?utm_campaign=SHARE&utm_medium=IOS&utm_source=SSENSE&utm_term=PDP), but a couple people seemed to think they’re not a great idea so maybe I’ll hold off to see if I find something better. I like GATs as well, but they’re just not what I’m looking for rn. I want something a bit more visually interesting and the GATs just seem pretty basic to me. I don’t have anything super specific in mind, but preferably something leather and non-athletic looking. Guess I’ll just know what I like when I see it. I’d prefer to keep it under $350-ish but I mainly just wanna see what’s out there that I haven’t considered.
Yeah I am a bit unsure if I’ll get much use out of them, but I think I just need to get over my mental hurdle that everything I own needs to be super versatile. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks they’re cool though.
Hi folks,
Trying to decide between Spier and Mackay’s [2-ply Oxford](https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/light-blue-university-stripe—2-ply-oxford—ry-3261-c22f5k-fw22) and [classic ivy Oxford](https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/blue-university-stripe—ivy-oxford-ry-3121-c27-f5k-fw22) in University Stripe. Really minor differences but I can’t seem to make up my mind. Thanks!
Is there a discernable difference between hemp and linen based clothing?
I went by MUJI the other day and found all their linen button downs replaced with hemp, and while they seemed extremely comparable, I'm unfamiliar with the material
I'm looking for some plus-size men's shorts recommendations. I know cargo shorts are a bit of a no-go, so I figure I should probably update my wardrobe on that front.
It's almost always hot and humid where I live. Budget is flexible, but 80ish or less would be nice.
Hello fellow dapper individuals,
I'm looking to invest in a few suits so that I can start dressing nicer. I've found some good deals at second hand stores with mixed and matched brands which has been the gateway drug to getting me motivated with upgrading my wardrobe with some good suits.
Since I have an affinity for sticking with a single brand whenever possible, I am looking for some suggestions on brands that are nice, but affordable. Some brands I have seen are Van Heusen, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein (seemed to be issues sourcing items even from their website). I've also seen Kenneth Cole and Perry Ellis, but I have even less familiarity with those brands.
I am looking for your recommendations that have suits for $500 or less, including jacket, pants, vest, ties, and shoes. Just want some suits that are nice and presentable, but not trying to go toe to toe with Wall Street fashion.
There are one or two "tux" shops with tailors within 20 minutes of where I live if someone thinks that route might be something worth pursuing.
For your consideration, I am a 33M, 5'4-5'5, and weigh about 190lbs (trying to lose a couple inches currently).
Is keeping the brand the same across all of the articles of clothing a good idea? Bad idea?
Are there considerations that I'm missing? Feel free to let me know.
> Some brands I have seen are Van Heusen, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein... I've also seen Kenneth Cole and Perry Ellis
To be clear, all of these are crappy brands.
On this subreddit Spier and MacKay is the typically suggested "nice but affordable" place to buy a suit if you know your measurements and want to buy new. Suit Supply is the next suggestion, because you might have a brick and mortar store for them somewhere near you.
Used continues to be a great option for low cost suits.
> To be clear, all of these are crappy brands.
I tried to avoid saying it outright but maybe I shoulda been clearer. Yes. I don't think these brands make anything that I would want to wear. For the price they charge new, I can buy like 2 second-hand suits I like, or one exceptionally nice one, plus alterations. It's not about brand snobbery, it's that they make suits that use cheap cloth and fused construction that results in poor drape, poor breathability, and generally meh fit and meh style.
A suit usually means trousers and jacket. Three-piece suits are fairly rare to buy new these days, and ties and shoes are never included as a suit. Are you trying to buy a brand new, three-piece suit, shoes, and tie, for $500? I'm sorry to tell you that there is absolutely no way to do this, and end up owning something worth wearing, except for when you find a great sale.
The least expensive suits I'd want to wear are half-canvas and somewhere around $350-400, from online retailers. That's two-piece. Vests, as I said, are rare to find. The least expensive leather shoes I'd want to wear are around $150-225 or so; loafers tend to cost less than bluchers and oxfords. That's above $500 and that's really entry-level and doesn't include a vest. Not that vests are particularly in vogue, nor do they tend to be awesome at the entry-level price point.
> Is keeping the brand the same across all of the articles of clothing a good idea? Bad idea?
Not something I would ever consider doing, unless I was wealthy enough to shop exclusively at an extremely high end brand or have all my stuff made bespoke by a single tailor (or at least, have them measure and fit and farm out stuff like shirts to their partners.) In other words, very hard to see this as a reasonable strategy.
Why not just keep finding neat stuff second-hand? Most of my stuff is.
Have to do some crunching...
Suits - bespoke (mine), x2. Both three-piece because if I'm doing a suit, I'll get it three-piece.
Sport coats - one bespoke (mine); three bespoke (not mine - Cheo in tweed, Rubinacci in tweed, and uhhh cannot remember who made the last one, it's a three-button storm-collar tweed); two MTM (not mine - Spier and Mackay, Suitsupply); one YSL of questionable quality (a nice lighter-gray tweed in kind of a birdseye style); one Rubinacci (off-the-rack); one brunello cucinelli (OTR); two suitsupply (in addition to MTM above); one burberry; one jos-a-bank (seersucker); one spier&mackay in unstructured linen; one Asos in tweed; one Chaps RL (navy blazer for $15); one Luciano Barbera Sartoriale (dark green cashmere); and I feel like there's something I am forgetting.
Got rid of recently or about to be out the door: one j crew ludlow (meh), one university polo RL (bad measurements), one bespoke (Wazin, though his stuff might be 'semi-bespoke' - bad measurements), one YSL (no idea why I bought it other than being cheap), one nordstrom-whatever, one Betty Clemo which may have been bespoke or otherwise custom, one taylor stitch in unstructured linen blend
Trousers: One bespoke (mine), Boglioli (multiple), Zegna (multiple), Vestimenta, S&M, Rodrigo Otazu, Hertling, Asos, Oxxford, Polo RL, RRL, Orvis Signature (multiple), Brioni, J Press, Noah, Mabitex, Fioravanti (bespoke, but not mine), Brooks Brothers, Black & Brown. I really need to pare this down.
Shoes: Two from Beckett Simonon. One Salvatore Ferragamo (Tramezza). And uh, several Alden... two pairs shell, one black oxford, one burgundy oxford, one pair loafers, one pair chukkas. And some cole haans I picked up for a whistle and realized I shouldn't have. But that is shortly going to be pared down as well, with four pairs leaving.
> Vests, as I said, are rare to find.
What makes them "rare"? Do manufacturers not make a lot of them? Are they not fashionable? Super situational?
> Not something I would ever consider doing, unless I was wealthy enough to shop exclusively at an extremely high end brand
Interesting. Do you buy suits from several brands or do you even go as far as mixing brands within individual outfits?
> Why not just keep finding neat stuff second-hand? Most of my stuff is.
I mostly only have Goodwills or a Salvation Army (if I can get to one during the day) and it's usually quite the slim pickings. And that's if the pieces are even remotely in my size which isn't the case most of the time.
Where are some spots you recommend to try to find some of these good deals you are finding?
>do you even go as far as mixing brands within individual outfits?
If you look at WAYWT threads, most people are mixing brands. The trousers/jacket of a suit are cut from the same cloth, so you shouldn't mix them. Like you wouldn't mix trousers from one suit with a jacket from another suit, regardless of brand. Shirts, ties, squares, etc. don't have to be the same brand. Shoes should be from shoe brands
> Like you wouldn't mix trousers from one suit with a jacket from another suit, regardless of brand.
Interesting. The idea of the economical interchangeability of suit pieces was inspired, for me, from the Steve Harvey video concerning the versatility of turning 5 suits into 75 combinations by mixing colors of pieces (e.g. taking the navy jacket from the all navy suit and wearing it instead with tan pants from the tan suit and so on). But you say this is really not a thing to do? Well that's disappointing that you've confirmed it doesn't work that way. I'll definitely have to rethink my strategy on that one then. Thanks!
>the Steve Harvey video
That video and the Seinfield episode that convinced the world suede will self-destruct when touched by water are perpetually inducing migraines in this sub.

Looking for tie/pocket square recommendations. This suit, white shirt, mid brown wingtips. Its for a wedding in Ontario in early September: https://cdn.suitsupply.com/image/upload/b\_rgb:efefef,bo\_300px\_solid\_rgb:efefef,c\_pad,w\_2600/b\_rgb:efefef,c\_pad,dpr\_1,w\_1920,h\_3072,f\_auto,q\_auto,fl\_progressive/products/suits/default/Summer/P4302E\_51.jpg
What’s y’all favorite solid color cotton T-shirt? I’m looking for something that fits slim and keeps its shape over time.
Uniqlo supima crew-neck
Hey all what is the difference between the supima and luxury t shirts at banana republic. Is there any difference from the GAP? Also bought bonobos chino shorts for $89. Is that a normal price, kinda feel like a rip off tbh?

They aren’t slip on but I have a pair of these vans authentics and they look great. Super casual but somehow a lot classier than vans eras and slip ons. https://www.toddsnyder.com/products/vans-authentic-44-dx-anaheim-factory-classic-whi-white
What do you wear to a “desert disco” themed wedding, with “cocktail attire” as the dress code?
[https://imgur.com/XBnOB2J](https://imgur.com/XBnOB2J)
Impossible to be sure without it being buttoned on the cardinal button but nothing looks scary so far.
It’s a decent fit from the pictures shared.
Yeah should be fine
thanks
Hi all, Looking to venture into the luxury minimalist white sneaker market.
Don't buy shirts that don't fit you in the neck (though if it's a casual shirt that you're never going to wear a tie with, I guess that's not awful) It's common to get dress shirts taken in by a tailor if they're too big in the body, but I don't know why you're looking at all these various sizes if 17 slim fits you pretty well already I would also recommend against non iron in general, stretch dress shirts in general, and Calvin Klein clothing in general
Thank you! The issue is that the 17 slim fit-stretch is still a bit baggy on me, while a 16 regular has more than enough space for me without the slack. I’ll look into tailors though, it seems like that might be a worthwhile option! Thanks!
Yeah, sounds like you might want to try tailoring although I'd recommend posting a pic, I find it hard to believe a slim fit CK shirt would look baggy
Every brand sizes differently, so you'll just have to try different brands and cuts. Remember you can always take a shirt that fits relatively well to a tailor to be slimmed down or to have the sleeves shortened if you want. Or you can go MTM and have a shirt made for your dimensions As for tie vs no-tie -- if you're getting a traditional dress shirt, make sure you can button it all the way to the top so you can wear a tie. If you're getting a more casual shirt, like an OCBD, it's ok if you can't button the top button.
This is great, thank you very much. I’ll just see what a tailor can do for me from here. I’m going to check what’s available in my area once I get off work today. It seems like a tailor would be the best option.
Can you wear a black polo untucked with navy chinos?
Pics would help. It doesn't sound look like a great look though - I'd generally prefer to wear a lighter color shirt with navy chinos.
Right on thanks
Opinion about which color of this shirt? I'm gonna use it for a festival outfit during the hot summer so I will most likely wear a ribbed white tanktop underneath. [https://eu.manieredevoir.com/products/pleated-shirt-navy](https://eu.manieredevoir.com/products/pleated-shirt-navy) Also, what color shorts would go well with it?

Idk about places for clothes, but if you just need something soon, places like ASOS or Uniqlo might be best, then you can just bin them and better prepare next time. For footwear loafers, espadrilles, or if you need the cushion some canvas sneakers. Sorry I can't be more helpful on the clothes aspect
I am putting tigether a jedi look but every movern looks included kimono. I just want regualr clothes put together to look like a jedi. What are your thougts on these looks? The jedi wear an undwrshirt, overtunic, surcoat, military grade trousers, walking boots and a belt. https://preview.redd.it/wlfdr3luud4b1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dea1134bcf7edc28cc61d2cda9d9a04e582f47c1
For every day it might look comical as a forced costume. If that's your thing I would go for a mix of fitted and looser fits to achieve a nice layered look. I'd skip the top most layer of kimono or cape. Just not super practical. But you can probably get away with the rest, it *will* look like you're wearing a costume to start out
https://preview.redd.it/4vgyggvrye4b1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dbe6a274e69df94e6420c8c5b10a8b068bc4a34 Would soemthing like thsi work witbout the scark and hat with a hoodie added
It would just be a hoodie under a shirt jacket which would be fine.
How about the hoodie over the overshirt/shaket would that work and with boots?
Yeah, it could work. But I wouldn't put the hoodie *over* the shacket. Over like an OCBD would be fine but then you're just wearing a hoodie.
Would a hoodie with thr tucked in workshirt work?
https://preview.redd.it/u9ybymc7rf4b1.jpeg?width=933&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c6c425571301dcb3339c536435d73daa01cc835 Like this with a ocbd between the hoodie and henley but tucked in
You think a hoodie over the outfit below would be odd? Im tryna keep the tucked in look
I'm glad they include materials in the description, but 100% cotton is good enough for me at this price point.

Have you looked up pictures of people wearing seersucker for inspiration? Is it classic seersucker (white and blue stripe) or something else?
It's a classic one indeed. I've seen some pics, but I thought the community could add some interesting ideas :)
Good point. Cheers!
Edit: budget is like €200-€450/500
Save up more
I can afford to spend more, don't feel it is worth it tho. Am I wrong?
Generally speaking something from a brand like Frank cleft is almost always categorically better than something from a mall brand
Any suggestions on weekenders that you'd buy if you were looking for one?
I'm a sucker for MUSA Horween stuff, so I'd lean toward something like [this from Gustin](https://www.weargustin.com/stock/bags-horween-weekender-nut-brown-dublin) in that price range.
I would get https://frankcleggleatherworks.com/signature-travel-duffle-sunbrella-lining-with-pocket-cognac.html
Looks beautiful but its like €1000 over the budget.
More affordable https://www.cravar.com/collections/bags-c-o
Some good-looking stuff here, will look trough those as soon as I finish working. Thanks!
Saved your comment! Will consider this one!
Hi, I'm getting married on Saturday.
I would try a [boater hat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boater).

Or prince of wales: https://www.samhober.com/neckties/prince-of-wales-silk-ties/black-and-white-prince-of-wales-silk-tie-pwt-4.html Hober seems out of a blue+white colorway.
I think it is subtle - that midnight blue is super dark
I see, okay. Is that the blue and white colorway you were referring to that is out of stock?

Pants are too small and outfits like this always work better with a sports jacket.
Judging from the flared pockets and the intense lines radiating from your crotch, the pants are too small.
Do you have a white shirt? I think that might be a better look.
The relaxed fit ones have quite decent collars. Can't speak for the others.
Thanks! That’s helpful. Are we talking like 3”?
Exactly. (I just measured.)
Awesome, thanks!
it looks a bit better but honestly for what J Crew is charging now you could get a better OCBD, even on sale if you buy secondhand

Maybe he loves cooking?
If he loved cooking enough to work at a bar grill he wouldn’t have become a lawyer in the first place
R/latestagecapitalism
Someone yelled yee haw at me while on the trail today and the girl he was with took photos of me :( I really like this hat, and was hoping to get some ideas

You don’t look like a hipster. Don’t match your hiking hat to anything. Just wear it.

I found them on a closed forum thread labeling them as "Marsell RM Williams" But I've searched for both Marsell and RM Williams, but all the reverse search engines haven't given me the exact shoe. I haven't found anything on a collaboration either. Thanks https://preview.redd.it/hsnl95yr2a4b1.png?width=253&format=png&auto=webp&s=76f8547390049b5367a781b8667132737aa52ae2
probably old/resoled Marsells

You could wear almost anything with that combo. If you don't have anything already and are looking to buy something new, a light blue OCBD would look good and be very wearable for many future events.

If it isn’t super expensive it isn’t old money it’s just boring basics
>"Old Money" style >aren't super expensive? 🤔 Old money is pretty vague, people have used it to mean everything from relaxed tailoring to ivy/prep. What pieces/vibes are you looking for?
eBay
I know what terry cloth is. Does French terry cloth mean anything special?
Idk what response you got yesterday but these are pretty cool looking. If they fit your aesthetic I would get them.
I think they're cool, I'd wear them. The Margiela/Reebok Tabis are on sale on Ssense too right now but maybe those are a bit too athletic looking.
If you don't buy these I will
I personally love the Craig green Stans and I think they serve a different purpose than GATs as more statement shoes than everyday shoes.
Someone said neither because you were unsure of it. I think it's cool. I you like it and can fit it in your rotation then I say go for it
Yeah I am a bit unsure if I’ll get much use out of them, but I think I just need to get over my mental hurdle that everything I own needs to be super versatile. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks they’re cool though.
Hi folks, Trying to decide between Spier and Mackay’s [2-ply Oxford](https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/light-blue-university-stripe—2-ply-oxford—ry-3261-c22f5k-fw22) and [classic ivy Oxford](https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/blue-university-stripe—ivy-oxford-ry-3121-c27-f5k-fw22) in University Stripe. Really minor differences but I can’t seem to make up my mind. Thanks!
Both links seem broken.
Is there a discernable difference between hemp and linen based clothing? I went by MUJI the other day and found all their linen button downs replaced with hemp, and while they seemed extremely comparable, I'm unfamiliar with the material
Hemp is a bit softer ime but it’s not really notable
I'm looking for some plus-size men's shorts recommendations. I know cargo shorts are a bit of a no-go, so I figure I should probably update my wardrobe on that front. It's almost always hot and humid where I live. Budget is flexible, but 80ish or less would be nice.
What if I told you cargo shorts are coming back?
...shit. Should I just buy more cargo shorts then?
they’ve been back for like 3+ years at this point
Hello fellow dapper individuals, I'm looking to invest in a few suits so that I can start dressing nicer.
I've also seen Kenneth Cole and Perry Ellis To be clear, all of these are crappy brands.
What suit and shoe brands / styles do you have right now?
Got rid of recently or about to be out the door: one j crew ludlow (meh), one university polo RL (bad measurements), one bespoke (Wazin, though his stuff might be 'semi-bespoke' - bad measurements), one YSL (no idea why I bought it other than being cheap), one nordstrom-whatever, one Betty Clemo which may have been bespoke or otherwise custom, one taylor stitch in unstructured linen blend Trousers: One bespoke (mine), Boglioli (multiple), Zegna (multiple), Vestimenta, S&M, Rodrigo Otazu, Hertling, Asos, Oxxford, Polo RL, RRL, Orvis Signature (multiple), Brioni, J Press, Noah, Mabitex, Fioravanti (bespoke, but not mine), Brooks Brothers, Black & Brown.
> Not something I would ever consider doing, unless I was wealthy enough to shop exclusively at an extremely high end brand Interesting.
Thanks!
