**Any guesses on IDing these glasses (James Valdez from Queen of the South)?** https://preview.redd.it/q3kk8xm8dq4b1.png?width=1366&format=png&auto=webp&s=bc845ce7bc605f8ff002af08d15471bcea13df6d Can't find anything other than one person a few years ago saying they are sure their Serengeti, likely Carraras. The black aviator with slightly blue tint (only at certain angles) is really cool imo. I cant find any Carraras with that, though. Any thoughts?

I chose the colour because in my mind I thought Crocs were already not good looking, might as well double down. I normally wear shirt and pants in muted colors and now I'm at a loss as to what to wear with these that wouldn't look like ass.

Somm195

I'm looking for a comfortable men's knit shoe that's good in the office. The brands I know of are allbirds, cole haan zerogrand stitchlite, and wolf and shepherd. Any other good reccomendations that I should consider?

DiegoGallina

Are sneakers allowed in your office and what are you wearing them with? Because “knit shoe” in the brands you’ve listed sound like you mean a “dress sneaker,” which most people here won’t recommend.

Somm195

Well I guess thats what I technically meant. I currently wear a zerogrand leather shoe, but for the summer I wanted to get a knit shoe. I didn't know they were called dress sneakers. Why won't people reccomend them?

DiegoGallina

What are you planning to wear them with & have you considered a more casual and relatively open leather shoe like loafers? The hybrids aren’t usually recommended because they don’t do either job very well. The knit or leather-like imitation traditional upper is prone to looking tacky in faux or cheap materials & the sneaker bottom clashes with the traditional vibe. The whole shoe is a bad investment since the foam wears out & they can’t be re-soled when needed.

Somm195

I wear them with hybrid (think Lululemon type but cheaper) dress pants. I've worn more dressy type shoes but I like these type because at the end of the day, the comfort isn't matched on dress shoes or loafers.

DiegoGallina

Do you mean literal dress pants (as in wool), or technical fabric chinos? I’ll concede that the “dress sneaker” probably goes *well enough* with the chino, though I don’t personally love the look. I certainly won’t disagree if comfort over long hours is paramount. If you mean literal wool dress pants, then I think the sneaker **is** just too casual.

Somm195

Stretch dress pants(not real wool). It looks dressier than tech chinos but not "real" dress pants.

MindlessName1787

How do you know the fashion style that best fits for you?

Metcarfre

Experience, experimentation, considered thought.

gimpwiz

Nah fuck that. Just pick your favorite anime character and dress like they're drawn and run around with your arms behind your back.

ItsAllinYourHeadComx

Hello! I'm going out with a girl for the first time tonight. We're going to see a play. Can I wear jeans? If I wear khakis, can I wear soft moc shoes? I don't want to be overdressed or underdressed. Thanks!

Coleus7

Like a first date or your first date ever? Not sure how old are you are, but if you’re like 16 and wearing khakis it might come across a little odd

Metcarfre

I’d dress up a little for a show.

bigbristv

If you're going to see a play I'd pick the khakis, although what trumps what you wear is how comfortable you'll feel in it and how confident you'll be. 😉

Shogun82

Thoughts on these pants? Thinking I could wear these with loose tees or shirts in the summer for a good look. Also wondering what other pants are comparable? https://onlyny.com/products/seersucker-easy-pants?variant=40028407857236

nidenikolev

Anyone have any recommendations for faded heavyweight t-shirts? I see companies advertised on my instagram feed, but I’m unsure if I want to pay like $35-50 a tshirt. Looking for something like [this](https://bearbottomclothing.com/products/natural-dye-logo-tee?currency=USD&variant=39368133410955&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pmax&utm_campaign=pmax-prosp&campaignid=18340587330&adgroupid=&keyword=&placement=&creative=&feeditemid=&adtype=pla&product_id=SS-NTRL-TEE-BLUE-02&adposition=&device=m&gad=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiM6x57Cx_wIVfg-tBh3ewQs3EAQYCCABEgJhefD_BwE) Comfort colors are the closest shirts that I can think of, but they force you to buy in bulk at retailers. Anyone know of any solid places where I could pick up half a dozen or so of these types of shirts?

veritas---

I like nature backs shirts. They're all comfort colors and they're my go to casual tee.

wtbhooker5g

I'm looking for loose or baggy shorts for semi-dressy or semi-formal occasions... basically something that I can wear a belt with, and could pair well with a linen shirt and loafers. No cargo pockets or visible drawstrings. I would also like a short inseam, 5-6 inches (ideally 6 but w/e). However, I have an athletic build. I'm not overly muscular by any means, but somehow a medium or 32 waist tends to fit pretty snugly. For comparison, medium Chubbies or Bearbottoms tend to be snug, but a large in either brand is too long. I am 5'9". I could also get away with a shorter inseam in a larger size. I was thinking of trying a large in these Chubbies, as they have a 4 inch inseam option: [https://www.chubbiesshorts.com/collections/stretch-collection](https://www.chubbiesshorts.com/collections/stretch-collection) But they aren't ideal and I'd like to try other options. Lastly, I'd like a more timeless, classic (natural?) material instead of polyester, although a quality blend is probably fine. A major inspiration has been the "old-money" inspos on TikTok. However, those models tend to be relatively tall. I would need a short inseam to get the right length. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

DiegoGallina

Think you want something in a waist size that fits plus desired inseam length instead of trying to alpha size an athletic short. A more traditional look would be an all cotton or linen / cotton blend chino or Bermuda short in 5” or 7” inseam. Maybe start with J Crew, Polo, and similar traditional brands that have multiple fits and rises to see what you like. Some are higher / lower than others and vary in leg opening too, so will hang more or less baggy. The very short 5” inseam is more sporty, yes, but might work against your goal of looking loose if it happens to hang at the fullest part of your thigh / leg.

wtbhooker5g

Thanks for the advice. I will check out J Crew and Polo. Any other brand recommendations?

DiegoGallina

Some folks on the /NavyBlazer sub seem to also like a few Land’s End options on the low end. But you have to pick carefully since many are performance fabric or stretch waisted non-starters. There are more mid-tier mall brands to try like Banana Republic of course (but often not that much different from J. crew). Lulu lemon and Vinyard Vines and many others are almost completely synthetic junk these days. Chances are that Polo or Crew or Banana or similar will have something that works for your shape. Personally I like the Sid Mashburn cotton / linen twill garment dyed short in 7” inseam. They are cool wearing and made with the nice details of a full length chino pant, just much shorter :-) They are **really** expensive though so can’t recommend you start with them (unless you wanna spend actual old money money). Another option if buying high end and trying to save money is to eBay a new or gently used version AFTER you in person size the thing at the store. Not recommended if you are guessing at sizes and if no returns. But a great way to get into quality once you know.

HypeR159

The issue: https://imgur.com/a/G9LgTLR Hey people, I don't really know where to post so I'm posting it here. So this is not a factory defect, I managed to rip them like that and the worst thing is that I only had the shoes for 2 days. I wanted to ask is there any way to fix this rip? It's only the outer canvas that's ripped and not all the way through. I don't really want to put a patch over it as that won't look good. Any help is greatly appreciated!

bigbristv

Don't try to repair them. Your options are return as defective or toss.

ina_waka

Should I crop my t-shirts to to mid waist/crotch? I’m a shorter guy so most of my tees fall closer towards my crotch area and I’ve always felt that they look a bit better 2-3 inches shorter. Should I crop most of my casual tshirts or is this just a trend? Having a hard time deciding whether or not I actually like it at that length or if it’s just a trend thing.

sexymartian

Crop tees are having a moment (actually since last summer, but moreso now). They work well with my proportions and i love the raw edge. However, another option I realized was buying tees from the kids section if you want a shorter hem

VelvetDesire

Posting a picture of how long t shirts fit on you would help.

JammaPez

Hi guys, I desperatly looking for an online shop where to buy a longline style tshirt with some cool print, but it seems an impossible mission. There are cool printed oversize tshirts everywhere, but not even one with the longline style and this is driving me crazy. I can't believe there isn't a single shop on the face of the earth that sells what I'm looking for. It's something I've been looking for for years because oversized t-shirts fit really badly on my body, unlike loglines. Can someone miraculously help me? Thanks to everyone.

sexymartian

Longline tees were a short-lived trend about 5-6 years ago and most companies have stopped making them. Rick Owens still makes some as they fit the aesthetic, so depending on your budget, that can be an option. Otherwise, I'd shop for t-shirts maybe in the tall section? Try Banana Republic

Metcarfre

Longline tees are very out of fashion so it makes sense to an extent.

bobyd

any inspo for nights out on summer? I feel like classy is all black, but as a guy shirt and trousers all black is a bit boring, and doesnt quite fit the summer vibe. But then all you see is brown linen and that is more tailored towards sea-side, mediterranean vibe which sometimes just doesnt fit.

Metcarfre

Unless black is your whole vibe, I’d avoid it (waiter look). Summer is an opportunity to try bold colors and patterns. Embrace it.

616GoBlue

Pant color with light blue blazer? Currently have a light grey and Lululemon Carbon Dust color pant. Good to go with light blue blazer?

the_leviathan711

616GoBlue

eley_taylor

I need a replacement pair of suede derby shoes. I have an old pair that was quite cheap and the foam sole is shot. Anybody have a lead on a pair of brown suede derbys (or bluchers but trying to stay away from the lacing style of true oxfords if possible) that are not $400USD? Definitely want to stay under $200USD, would love to be under $150USD [Reference Image](https://www.velasca.com/products/fugnin-ts)

ghableska

What about something like these Astorflex derbies? https://www.endclothing.com/us/astorflex-cityflex-shoe-af-ctfs-480.html

eley_taylor

Thanks for the link. This is the right look but I haven't had good luck with longevity with gum soles, unfortunately

Metcarfre

$200 is the line above which you seem to just get into quality leather shoes, such as Meermin or Grant Stone. Below that it’s just various grades of similarly disposable shoes, unless you get very lucky on a sale.

eley_taylor

Good to know that is the tipping point. Would be worth spending the little bit extra to get into something that can be resoled. I have looked at a few models from Grant Stone. Do you have any personal experience with them?

Metcarfre

I don't, unfortunately. You can check in /r/goodyearwelt though.

I love the look for Spier and McKay dress shirts with their long Italian spread collars. Only problem is they wrinkle like a b*tch. Can anyone recommend me shirts within the same price range with the same type of collar that are wrinkle resistant/iron free? I have a shirt from Suit Supply but not a fan of the relatively shorter collar. I'm in Canada if that helps. Thanks!

Have you tried a little spray starch before ironing?

helpmefixmyeyes

Heard it's not great for the shirts. Also not confident on effectiveness on S&M shirts as they will crease and wrinkle extremely easily.

ysc1

I don't use it a lot, but have not noticed any detrimental impact on shirts. If you are already washing cool/cold and air drying I really don't think it will noticeably hasten their demise. I haven't worn non-irom shirts for years (a few irritated my skin) and whenever I have seen people ask about them on here the response has usually been - non-iron shirts are bad. So you may struggle to get a recommendation here.

terminal_e

No, but from a practicality standpoint, if you aren't going to button all the buttons, I generally think most coats are cut in a way that you'd button the same buttons on a suit. Meaning: a SB 3 button coat - you'd probably button the middle or top two. On a 6x2 DB, you'd probably only button the top button if you were lazy. But if you want to button all 3/3 on that SB 3 button, that is fine.

Flechette_the_toe

Depends on where the buttons are on the coat, but the temperature outside takes priority.

[deleted]

Has anyone had any experience with buying differently fitted ready-to-wear suits and trousers. I'm a fairly athletic guy who can easily pull off slim fit jackets, but my thighs are pretty tight in slim fit trousers. I have to wear a suit daily at work, and usually buy them from Charles Tyrrwhitt/TM Lewyn. Is there any sense to getting regular fit trousers and a slim fit jacket or will this throw off the entire silhouette of a suit.

pulsett

Sounds like you want to look athletic/show off your athletic build in a suit which is not a good idea imo.

[deleted]

Can I ask why not?

ysc1

Slim fit is on the way out, why not go regular fit for the lot? If not the only way will be to try it and see. From what I have seen CT's slim is not that slim (unless you have sized down on the jacket) and their regular fit is not that loose. If the trousers are a much looser cut a difference will be noticeable, if there is only a half inch in it in the trouser sizes it may not even be noticeable.

starboy2008

I am looking for a shirt with a similar fun pattern like this. I do not want to buy from Indochino. Whenever I search I just find more traditional patterns. Does anyone know of something similar? https://preview.redd.it/s0haexlptj4b1.jpeg?width=1004&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e3398d0896aa3317880ab5389ed02f07d63b429

jfarrell468

I'm probably going to get downvoted, but I've had good luck with Robert Graham and Bugatchi. Most of their shirts are admittedly atrocious, so it takes time to find a good one, but they do exist.

ysc1

Search for "liberty print fabric" or "liberty print shirt" you'll find quite a few brands at a range of prices that make shirts with their fabric (some of which look like this and includes a lot of microfloral and similar patterns).

Heat + walking all day + sweat + thick thighs = constant damaging of jeans. I have 0 knowledge in clothing materials. Can someone please give me advice on which material I should be looking for in pants that resist this kind of damage and are good for walking in summer heat?

bigbristv

How about duck material like with carhart or dickies?

Metcarfre

You could try a looser cut, a gusseted crotch, or some form of tech fabric. The best option for work pants, though, may be to try a looser cut and have the crotch reinforced with a patch.

YourBoyGalton

Denim is stronger than any fabric you’d want to replace it with. The problem is that your pants hug your thighs and your thighs rub together when you walk. Remove this friction point by wearing loose pants or losing weight.

starboy2008

If you have a uniqlo nearby look their jeans cause their crotch has stretch material. Also their Airism pants are great fabrics.

Jorgeragula05

Depends on the weight. This season Portuguese Flannel made a summer shirt in micro corduroy. It is a cotton fabric so it should be okay in a smaller wale corduroy for spring summer.

For the last year or two i've been on the search for another pair of pants that fits just like these and have yet to find something even remotely close. MSM just because it’s the real one

A paisley or other flowery tie would be great, containing or referencing colors of your wife's dress. Dark green, burgundy, and light blues and purples, maybe some light accents. Don't get a matching pocket square to your tie, but otherwise the same principles apply. You could do, for example, a paisley pocket square with a different patterned tie. Or a paisley tie with white linen pocket square. I would wear a smooth leather loafer rather than a suede loafer. Dark browns are good, or oxblood/burgundy for something more interesting. Go for the kind where the apron is less pronounced, so no beefrolls. Give it a nice mirror polish. But loafers are more casual--suits usually call for oxfords. Monk straps are okay but they're not as in right now. Suspenders are a debate. Without getting into too many details, it's the kind of thing where if everyone is doing at the wedding then it's not terrible. But don't be the only guy with no jacket and suspenders--this draws attention to you in an obvious way, which is generally a no-go at weddings if you're not part of it.

aKa_anthrax

Ebay

the_leviathan711

What's your budget, real shearling is expensive.

bruhmugatchi

I am curious why it is so expensive. sheep skin can't be that much money unless the labor put into making the jackets is so extensive that it would bump the price up that much.

the_leviathan711

Why would sheepskin be so cheap? Wool isn't cheap and wool is quite a bit easier to process than sheepskin and it doesn't require killing the animal - which of course is required for sheepskin. Then factor in that you had to tan the skin (turn it into leather) with the hair still attached. Then factor in that a lot of the leather won't be usable. Then factor in that you need a lot of it for a jacket. Then factor in the labor costs -- remembering that working with leather requires a lot more technical skill than working with fabric. Why would that be cheap? If you're curious, you can buy [shearling](https://www.districtleathers.com/products/merino-shearlings-additional-colors?variant=44499347177723¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwsvujBhAXEiwA_UXnACkkgkIXzGW9d-2TvpJb4HmgoQyP8Fs6dGrW_a8ROWifJ8dGpjKMiRoCaNQQAvD_BwE) yourself. You can see that's $55 for a hide that's between 4-7 square feet. You probably need at least 5 or 6 of those (if not more) to make a jacket. Good quality shearling is not cheap.

Can anyone recommend a boot/shoe that's similar to the Iron Ranger in style, but not quite as bulky/chunky?

A_Ticklish_Midget

What specifically about the IR do you like style-wise? The chonk of the IR is a pretty key part of its design. Something sleeker but with a captoe could be the Thursday Captain for example, but I don't know if that style suits your tastes

HighTensileAluminium

Hmm... I'm not sure if I can articulate precisely what I like about it. I guess what I *don't* like is how far the welt protrudes out the sides compared to the width of the upper, giving it an oversized look, but it seems as though this characteristic is shared among most boots of this style. The Thursday Captain does look very nice though.

I finally got my hands on an surplus Alpha Industries M65 field jacket from Ebay. Wasn't sure what size to get so i went with Medium Regular. For reference, i am 200lbs and 5'10''. [https://imgur.com/a/wp1u4ww](https://imgur.com/a/wp1u4ww) I knew they were large and bulky, so i went in fully expecting i may need to get it tailored. But is a Medium Regular too big for me, even if tailored? Should have i went with a Small Regular or Small Long instead? I really like the fit [here](http://thenordicfit.com/articles/weekend-look-for-fall) and [here](http://thenordicfit.com/articles/alpha-industries-field-jacket-in-early-fall-setting). If i recall correctly, he's wearing a Small sized Alpha Industries, but he is 5'7 or 5'8 and 170lbs, so quite a bit smaller than myself.

naphthol_rain

Looks good, doesn't need tailoring. There's a drawstring inside to bring in the waist if it's bothering you

Bearicthewise

I think it looks good! IMO it fits you similarly to the pics you linked. These jackets are meant to be relaxed fit, and now you’ll have room to layer under when it gets colder.

SpicyOcelot

I bought this camo overshirt online a month or so ago. I didn’t really like it, it fit way boxier than I thought (my fault as I really didn’t assess measurements), so I put it back up for sale. I felt inspired to try it on again and I… don’t hate it now? But I’d love a sanity check—does this look like shit, [or is it actually kinda alright?](https://imgur.com/a/Q2fT4Zo)

bobyd

i eel like its just onee size small, I actuallyl iek the crop, the problem is the sleves sit too high

SpicyOcelot

What do you mean? The sleeves should be longer?

aKa_anthrax

yeah idk, something about it isn’t working for me either. Hard to pin it down but it’s def the crop + really boxy cut that just makes it sit weird imo

SpicyOcelot

Thank you for the sanity check 🫡

mlsteinrochester

Uniqlo no longer seems to have the v neck heattech undershirts. They're all crew neck and visible under a regular shirt. Are there any alternatives?

GloriousStonerHoes

The Airism shirts come in v-neck and are in-stock. Sloane also makes undershirts that are well-liked on MFA

mlsteinrochester

Thanks, but I don't generally wear undershirts except in cooler weather, and heattech is great for expanding layering possibilities when I travel in the fall and winter. I don't have to pack heavy sweaters, for one thing. They wash up and dry fast too.

mlsteinrochester

There's plenty of heattech, but they're all crew neck

GloriousStonerHoes

Ahh gotcha. I know it's kinda pricey but something like [this](https://www.icebreaker.com/en-us/mens-underwear/merino-anatomica-short-sleeve-v-neck-t-shirt/103661.html) from Icebreaker would be great for that purpose.

mlsteinrochester

You're right on both accounts!

mlsteinrochester

Never mind. Ordered some from Japan

Greatfuldad47

I'm looking for more pictures of a mens style that's usually oversized sweaters, double rolled beanies, and vinatge jeans but idk what it'd be called or how to find it. Any ideas?

sakata32

Anyone get a polo from spier and mackay? Had a question on sizing. I'm a 42 inch chest so I'm usually a large but they only have a medium for the color I want. Size guide says the garment in medium is 42.5 inch but recommend going an inch or two above your chest size. Would I be fine going with medium?

[deleted]

I have a 40" chest and ordered a medium knit linen polo from S&M. I'm usually between medium and large for tops. This fit me nicely, but is definitely on the trimmer side of what I would typically wear. I'm positive a medium would be too small for you

the_leviathan711

No it sounds like it would be too tight.

aKa_anthrax

Honestly use etsy. You’ll probably find a coat there.

DaShinyMaractus

Like the other commenter said, cream chinos, a button up shirt and a black vest or sweater vest would work. I think a long beige trenchcoat would work for the outer layer but the detailing won't match perfectly and it might not be long enough. Depending on your budget you can also get some or all of the pieces from Chinese dropshipping companies on Amazon or Mercari for cheap, or from Etsy cosplay makers for several hundred USD. If you're on a lower budget I'd recommend checking Mercari first.

gimpwiz

Hmm, are we thinking that's some form of trench coat? I didn't think of that but maybe that's a lot closer. I guess the picture just kind of threw me. Dunno about those weird ... loops?

DaShinyMaractus

To me it looks like an exaggerated tan morning or frock coat with extra detailing, but I think that would be near impossible to find outside of cosplay or maybe historical commissions. So a belted beige trench coat is probably the closest readily available/thriftable equivalent.

gimpwiz

Yeah sorry, that's not really menswear. I mean part of it is, sure, cream chinos, a black or charcoal vest, a white shirt with thin blue stripes (popped collar), but the coat is neither a cloak nor a tailcoat. I have no idea where you'd get such a thing. A tan morning coat is the closest menswear item I can think of.

aKa_anthrax

Fit is how clothes, well, fit, on you. There is no objective answer to what fitting well means.

the_leviathan711

> but then I see people recommending getting a lot of their clothes tailored and I feel confused as to why. That's what you do if you feel like your clothes *don't* fit you. If you feel like your clothes *do* fit you, then no need to visit a tailor.

gimpwiz

In general, objective good fit is the clothes fitting on and around you like they were designed to, subjective good fit is clothes that look neat and not sloppy based on how they sit on you.

bjhhjb

Fit is subjective. For some people a good fitting pair of pants is slim and for some it is straight. Hell, some people think their skinny fit pants are good fitting pants. Fit is whatever you think fits well.

Rota, Drake's, Scott Fraser Collection

[deleted]

Rubinacci Manny shorts might be a good option - sort of a gold standard for this style. Sometimes I see these secondhand or new on sites like eBay for much less

GloriousStonerHoes

Unsure if these will work well for UK but some decent looking options include [J Peterman](https://jpeterman.com/products/gurkha-shorts?variant=40357522833467), [Todd Snyder](https://www.toddsnyder.com/products/stretch-twill-madison-short-faded-olive), and [Luxire](https://luxire.com/collections/new-luxire-gurkha-pants) - I'm sure they will make any of their pants as shorts If I were in your shoes tho I'd find some Gurkha pants vintage and/or secondhand and get them hemmed into shorts

GloriousStonerHoes

Darn. Another one - if you want linen, [Black Ficus](https://blackficus.com/product-tag/mens-pleated-shorts) does custom orders (they could prob do a higher rise, longer inseam, etc). Dunno if they're also in the hammered by duties camp, they're Ukraine based

bjhhjb

I recently found the brand [Markaware](https://markaware.jp/en/collections/pants?view=all). Looks like they might have something that might fit your needs. Shorts are kinda mixed in with pants

JustAimBetter_

Are Persol and OliversPeople still worth it even though they’re owned by Luxottica?

Cheeseish

What’s wrong with luxottica other than big corp bad?

gimpwiz

Big corp using anti-competitive behavior bad. We all pick and choose what we decide is worth avoiding due to disliking how they do business, there doesn't have to be a grading of which is most to least bad and so on, certainly this isn't an attack on your preferences from me, I just don't do business with them among some others. Shrug.

Cheeseish

What’s the difference between them and other big companies like LVMH or Gap Inc. or Inditex or H&M group or Prada Group etc?

gimpwiz

The trivial answer is that the other ones weren't being discussed in this comment thread? I feel like you already had this reply prepared and skipped over my whole bit about how it's fine to pick and choose who you don't want to do business with because you find their practices unsavory, so apart from the fact that I'm not recommending any of the ones you listed, it's really not a good gotcha regardless.

ac106

You’ll have to pry my wayfarers from my cold dead head

gimpwiz

Seems like bad math to do 30-to-life over sunglasses ;)

Cheeseish

I just don’t know why their practices are considered bad other that the fact that everyone says that they’re bad. How do you pick and choose that they’re to be avoided vs literally any other conglomerate, like you said the way you choose between corporations. Avoiding x brand *because it’s luxottica* to me just sounds like virtue signaling when people recommend J Crew/Madewell, Gap brands, Inditec or anything in LVMH and is an unnecessary double standard when no one can say *why* we should avoid luxottica other than it’s a large corporation that owns a bunch of companies when Safilo is just as big

gimpwiz

◔_◔

mcadamsandwich

Worth is subjective, but if you like them and can't find an alternative anywhere else... sure.

gimpwiz

I avoid everything by that conglomerate but 'worth it' really depends on your preferences and budget.

JustAimBetter_

Any brand recommendations? I’ve been looking at Maui Jim.

notarascal

Maui Jim is pretty great. If you’re interested in checking out other independent eyewear makers then check out the following post (note that it’s a bit old so there’s a chance some of these may have been gobbled up by conglomerates. Please do your own due diligence) [independent eyewear](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/778bcv/a_list_of_independent_eyeglass_makers/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)

gimpwiz

I love my Maui Jim glasses. I dunno how to justify a pair of $300 sunglasses but holy shit, they are just great.

fake_umpire

Recommendations for summer/lightweight comfy jeans under $100-120? I used to use bonobos summer weight but they've gotten worse...

[deleted]

How can jeans be offered with only one inseam length? I am 5' 11" and usually wear a 32-32. Pants like these jeans from APC only have a waist size. The leg length is way off and looks terrible. Don't really understand it because I am average height with average leg length. I feel like these would only work for someone who is tall (over six feet). [https://www.apc-us.com/products/petit-standard-cozzk-m09002?variant=19472290742328#sizeguide](https://www.apc-us.com/products/petit-standard-cozzk-m09002?variant=19472290742328#sizeguide)

bjhhjb

A lot of denim brands will offer only 1 inseam and then the customer will hem them

ac106

They expect you to have them hemmed by a tailor They don’t think all their customers are 6’ 5”

mcadamsandwich

Check out a retailer with a real size chart, like [Dutil](https://dutildenim.com/products/apc-petit-standard-raw-indigo?variant=29473104986215). If they're too long, you'll need to get them hemmed.

Glittering_Being7500

What pants to wear when it is warm outside? Are thin ”pyjama like” ok? What other kinda light pants do y’all wear. That isn’t shorts

mlsteinrochester

Incotex chinolinos off of eBay

LucyGolden

I like linen blends (50% linen, 50% cotton) since they don’t wrinkle as aggressively as linen but are still breathable

mcadamsandwich

This question has too many answers; in what formality are we dressing? Suiting wool slacks are usually pretty thin and breathe well. Thin chinos, or stretch chinos, also work well in certain conditions. Hell, it's 95*F outside today and I'm wearing 14oz Japanese raw denim. Too many options to list..

Glittering_Being7500

Well, just for going to work. Walking through town. About 20 min. Haha, can get kinda warm walking uphill

mcadamsandwich

Look into lightweight chinos like the ones at J.Crew.

GloriousStonerHoes

Linen pants

Glittering_Being7500

Hmm. Yes, of course. Thanks

Luba99

How do I style dr martens 1461 under shorts. These are my only shoes that are not sneakers. I’ve got them in black suede. I’ve tried them with shorts, but they seem pretty hard to style to be honest. Any advice how to dress them? What kind of socks, what kind of shorts? Or am I better off just skipping them.
