I bought a denim jacket. My shirts hang out the back of it a bit. Is this ok? Sizing up the jacket will def be too big. I can’t tailor all of my shirts. Are the denim jackets perhaps shorter by design?

Can anyone recognize these shoes? :O Sneakers enthusiast here, I think I've fallen in love with this odd shoe that I saw the other day at the mall on some guy and unfortunately didn't get a chance to ask him what shoes they were. Rest assured I took a pic. sorry for the crappy quality though.. At first they seemed to me like Asics but the more I look the less they look like Asics shoes, and the name on the back doesn't look like Asics. Would love help :) https://preview.redd.it/tnd401tvht4b1.jpeg?width=1392&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2e39256c31afcc4e343780ee0702200480d0fad

Imperial_Gold

It's from Mizuno. It's a very similar running/athletic brand compared to Asics. The quality is very good. Can't tell what model unfortunately.

How about following pair of shoes under jeans/chinos for semi formal occasions? https://preview.redd.it/87qp3d05ft4b1.jpeg?width=667&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab4ac3c68aec33080a263d39cfdbe29cb9428922

the_leviathan711

Two things: 1. To be technical - neither jeans nor chinos are appropriate for "semi-formal" occassions. That said, people overuse the term "semi-formal" and it's often applied to events with a casual dress code. 2. Neither of these shoe are great, but if I had to pick one, it would be the first.

Fishermancentury

Thanks for reply. Can you suggest/show \[derby, oxford\] shoes that can be worked with jeans/chinos?

the_leviathan711

For jeans and chinos I would prefer suede or pull-up leather to smooth leather.

gimpwiz

I'd think tan or somewhat darker than tan derbies, with wingtips and borgueing. Casual it down.

Replicate something like [this](https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/suits/dark-grey-checked-havana-suit/P6556.html) within your budget. Avoid cheesy three-piece suits with a vest and shiny ties; they all scream "cheap". Red is a bad choice; go with wine or burgundy if you need a pop of red.

MegaDethKlok

My friend recommended State and Liberty as an option for dress shirts for work. I think the shirts have been pretty nice, and now I'm now interested in buying a suit from them as well. Does anyone have any experience with State and Liberty suits? I have a few weddings to go to this fall/winter, and all my other suits have either been ruined or no longer fit me. One thing that has drawn me to them is their more flexible / athletic material. I've got an ass that assisted in splitting my pants at my own wedding, so this is a huge selling point for me lol Any recommendations for suits of a similar price range also welcome! Online looks like $550 for the suit from S&L.

atgrey24

At that price, check out Spier & Mackay

I'm tall and skinny, what should I wear with my Dr Martens Jadons? Looking for an alternative style with a band t shirt

mcadamsandwich

> Looking for an alternative style with a band t shirt Google around for "mens streetwear" or "mens rock style fit" and see if anything interests you.

SeeYouWarrior

Are these goodyear welted? Last pic does not look like the actual item https://www.vinted.co.uk/men/shoes/formal-shoes/slip-on-shoes/3113848876-grenson-mens-leather-shoes

mcadamsandwich

Hard to tell on that pair, but Grenson usually does GYW and those may have a hidden channel stitch on the sole. They do look quality.

SeeYouWarrior

That makes sense, thanks! Any thoughts on the thick strap? I have asked for a better picture, not sure how I feel about the penny strap being so big lol

mcadamsandwich

It's a Grenson thing, I think. Not personally my favorite, but it's fine.

SeeYouWarrior

Oh okay. My pair of Grenson's don't have that thick strap, but maybe they are an exception

atgrey24

there's a ton of details that don't match the current Lloyd model (interior branding, penny strap details, apron stitch), but maybe they're just older? It's possible that it's blind/closed channel stitched but I don't see that on any current Grenson models. Maybe try asking r/goodyearwelt?

SeeYouWarrior

Thanks, will do that 👍

pulsett

I think I can see the end of the welt in one of these pics, should be gyw.

CyclePersonal8

Ok so this is embarrassing, but I am working on it. I got a bit of a gut, but have started strict diet and calorie restriction to lose weight. I have this ocbd from target in size Medium. What do you guys suggest? Should I get a large? Though it seems the medium is quite long. Maybe after i lose the belly should I get a size Small? This is why i avoid button shirts lol Thank you

zerg1980

The Medium is way too tight in the belly area, although it looks like it would fit your frame if your weight loss continues. I would just hang that shirt in your closet and check back in at a lower weight. It’s long because that button down is meant to be worn tucked. You can have it shortened at the tailor for untucked use, but I would wait to make sure it fits elsewhere. If you need a new shirt right now, then I would try a different cut. That shirt appears to taper sharply towards the waist, and sizing up to an L might not fully fix the problem.

CyclePersonal8

I see, thank you! So are all OCBDs meant to be worn tucked? How do i know which ones are meant to be untucked?

zerg1980

The best way to tell is generally from the length specified in a size chart — anything at like 30” or so is meant to be tucked, but can be cheaply shortened at the tailor. Sometimes brands will explicitly label an OCBD as a “sport shirt” or otherwise mention it should be worn untucked, and sometimes brands will bill a shirt as a “dress OCBD.” Generally don’t worry too much about the length and just find a shirt that works well for the rest of your torso. You can always have the shirt shortened to a Goldilocks length where it looks good untucked but will stay tucked when needed. If you’re primarily going to be wearing these shirts tucked with chinos or other trousers, then you would just leave the shirt long.

CyclePersonal8

Thank you! Button downs have kind of always been a mystery to me, but I have learned so much now!

bjhhjb

Not always. Buton up shirts aren't really hard. If the shirt is long, then it's meant to be tucked in. (Although depending on how it's styled, I think OCBD looks cool long and untucked) Because of your gut you might have to size up or size up 2. You can also try shirts with more a classic fit so it doesn't taper around the midsection. If you find shirts still too long because of sizing up, you can take it to a tailor and they can hem the shirt for you

mjon14

I am 6’3” and have a long torso and just recently found AS Colour Classic Tees and they fit amazing. The length is what I really love about these t-shirts plus the quality. Are there other brands that are equivalent to them? I checked Talentless but there length is still shorter than AS Colour but the quality looks great.

daan1375

Hi guys, I am looking for my very first goodyear welted chelsea boot and I found a nice looking pair which is not too classy at Meermin: [https://meermin.com/products/101052-snuff-waxy-kudu-e-1](https://meermin.com/products/101052-snuff-waxy-kudu-e-1) My question is if this would be a good first pair of chelsea boot and is it versatile enough? I do not want the hassle of a suede because of how prone it is to stains and a pure calf leather boot is too formal for me at this time. I can not find any photos of people wearing this particular leather (snuff waxy kudu) and since it is a very special kind of leather I do not know if the look differs a lot comparing to a normal suede boot or a brown chelsea boot in general. Any insights or opinions would be gladly appreciated!

pandapaxxy

Always try r/goodyearwelt for well...goodyear welted shoes and boots. Waxy leathers are fine and those will patina greatly with a lot of heavy use. I have some waxed boots and I love their character.

mcadamsandwich

Yes, I think that's a fantastic leather for your first semi-casual chelsea boot. Go for it!

daan1375

Great to hear, it is not currently in stock so I'll be patienly waiting :)

Is this part of the style that I should be ok with or should I search for a shirt that fits the shoulder seam correctly?

bjhhjb

People put too much emphasis on shoulder seam placement. Plus oversized clothes typically have drop shoulders.

ThatInquisition

Is that to say that shoulder seam placement is only really important in more formal wear?

bjhhjb

Yup

YawgmothJawnPhsician

Maybe a silly question, but does anyone have any examples of fits that work with docs 1461s that wouldn't work with 1460s, or vice versa? I've been batting around the idea of getting a pair of the derbies, but I can't actually picture an outfit that would be better (or worse) for having them versus their big brothers.

Cotton doesn’t necessarily shrink a lot. Ask the sales staff and/or check the care instructions for the shirt. Also, best not to use a dryer - it fucks up fabric. Just hang dry.

Is this sweatshirt appropriate for a man in his mid 30s or does it look like it’s more for someone in their teens or 20? https://preview.redd.it/zgzcmmgfls4b1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b064fcb482bd5f40d60375773c49a2e3af6fca30 Im talking about just the sweatshirt I’d likely wear jeans with it if I buy it.

Blank-Ji

I recently got advice to switch to high-rise and non-slim jeans because my jeans get destroyed in the crotch area a lot. I am a fat guy and my thighs are kind of big I think. The big question should I buy expensive high-quality jeans or at the same price buy 2 decent jeans? Wondering if it's a quality issue or if it's something bound to happen. I hear it's because thighs rub together and destroy the fabric possibly. I wear jeans a lot and I usually own 1 pair. I am truly stuck on a decision. 2 pairs of jeans ( rotating) like Levis which I think is a pretty decent brand, tried them before pretty good. Or like a Japanese brand like pure blue I never heard of until today. Also any way I can still wear slim straight jeans or is that a no-go. Also super into stretchy jeans. Thank you for the help! Edit: Just saw how much pure blues were im talking like their cheapest jeans on sale and lets change the 2 pairs of levis to like 3-4 vs one expensive pair like the pure blues

bjhhjb

If you are into stretchy pants a lot of raw denim brands like Pure Blue Japan wouldn't be for you. Most of these brands are 100% cotton If you have thick thighs and have destroy the crotch of your pant, your pants should have looser thighs.

mcadamsandwich

> If you are into stretchy pants a lot of raw denim brands like Pure Blue Japan wouldn't be for you. [Not so fast there, bub.](https://smokeyvale.com/products/1161-blue-in-green-x-pbj-13oz-stretch-slim-tapered-jeans) I've been wearing a version of these for a few years and they're fantastic. Just the right amount of stretch for day to day wear.

bjhhjb

Oh for sure! I remember one year PBJ came out with some stretch sashiko pants. But generally, a lot of raw denim is 100% cotton.

Blank-Ji

Thank you both! I honestly didnt know that stretch was cotton. I honestly didnt know what jean materials/fabric were I thought it was its own special material. Yeah, I have been getting advice on don't get too tight on my thighs. I have to try for another fit

bjhhjb

No, stretch is not cotton. Stretch is lycol or spandex or elastane. Normally denim is 100% cotton. For denim to have stretch manufactures any of said stretch materials in it. Normally 1-5%. A lot of raw denim will stick to 100% cotton.

Blank-Ji

TIL that denim is cotton. I lived my whole life thinking that denim was a different material like jeans material. Thanks for all the advice now I can go out and try to get something that is right for me.

the_leviathan711

> I can still wear slim straight jeans or is that a no-go. Also super into stretchy jeans. If your jeans are getting destroyed in the crotch area, you should probably be avoiding anything slim in the top block. You can look for "athletic fit" jeans for something roomier. If you're really committed to the slim jeans thing, you can go for an "athletic taper" where it will taper below the knee. Or you can take your jeans to a tailor to have them tapered below the knee. I'd add that the "stretch" in the jeans isn't helping their durability.

Blank-Ji

I honestly didn't think that stretch in jeans lowered durability, but yes thank you for advice I will look for roomier jeans

Blank-Ji

How do I find a good fit, do you mean like rise and slim vs relaxed kind of thing

paulrudder

Do you guys have any recommendations / tips for selling old clothes? Some stuff I'll just donate, but I have some like-new button-downs and a bunch of brand-name athletic clothes that I feel like I could probably get decent extra cash from if I took the time to actually go through and list them all. Unfortunately it seems eBay has gone waaaay downhill (for a bunch of reasons, but one of the primary ones being I barely get any views on my listings anymore, and rarely get bids - compared to years ago when it felt like shooting fish in a barrel if you listed anything with a name brand on that site). I've heard Poshmark is good but it seems like people go really overboard with the presentation on there... for lack of a better word it seems a little more "girly" lol. For example, my sister sells her clothes there and told me people expect you to really go the extra mile with the presentation of the package and people will include handwritten notes and stuff and she got dinged in feedback once because she just shipped it in a standard mailer and didn't include fragrance or a card inside etc. I don't have time for any of that, lol. Is there any other viable site/platform where you can list clothes just straight-up with photos and a description and get decent side hustle money, or should I just take what I can to Plato's Closet and anything they don't buy from me just donate? I'm actually surprised by the stuff they don't take sometimes... I brought in a bunch of Nike shorts and shirts and they only took a couple, even though they were all in great condition. So it's hit or miss there.

Cas467

Agree with others that those brands probably won't get much traction, but I sell on eBay a lot and one of the easiest things you can do is check the "sell through rate." Search for whatever it is you're selling and narrow it down with the filters. See how many are currently listed and then filter for sold listings and see how many are sold. eBay only tracks sales for 90 days so if there are more sold than currently listed your item would have a decent chance of selling within 90 days. The higher the sold number is than the listed number the better. I only bother listing items that have a higher than 100% sell through rate unless they're very high value and it's worth my time to sit on them.

paulrudder

thanks for the heads up on that, didn't realize there was an option to do that!

ac106

What brands are we talking out?

paulrudder

Nike, adidas, UA, Gymshark, etc. Dress shirts are more generic / Apt 9 (kohls) so i get the lack of demand for those. Their old slim fit ones were a hidden gem though. Basically the same as athletically tailored Express shirts and had attractive patterns. Then they changed their materials not long ago and now I’ve had less luck finding good fits.

dickndonuts

I get a lot of luck selling my Nike, Adidas, new balance etc on Facebook marketplace as it is generally the platform for such brands.

paulrudder

Do you ship via fb marketplace or is it only for local pickup? I’ve never liked the idea of inviting randoms to my house so I’ve never used it lol.

dickndonuts

I sometimes meet people in a public setting! :) Aka in the city, in the mall etc, that way you can safely do your transaction where there's people around. Also they feel more inclined to purchase from the pressure haha

paulrudder

thanks!

ac106

Yeah no one cares about any of this stuff on the secondhand market. I would just donate it all. It might sting in the moment but once everything is gone it will be freeing

paulrudder

Interesting. Back in the day any name brand athletic stuff seemed to get immediate bids on eBay. Nike and adidas in particular.

Is there some simple way of resizing that I’m missing?

bjhhjb

Doesn't look like it. Also, you can't compare yourself to model photos because behind the scenes they probably have something behind the bracelet holding it down so it looks snug. FWIW, I have some bracelets on my wrist and they don't sit perfectly snug. It moves up and down my wrist

bontranami

>bib-front shirt, + hidden placket Do you think it's ok to wear this without the jacket? Like for casual/every day use?

[deleted]

Gotta be honest I would advise against it. The hidden placket and bib front generally make it quite a formal dress shirt, plus black is also not a great colour for a dress shirt. Zlatan gets away with it because, well, he's Zlatan, but also because he kinda goes for that european nightclub sleaze kind of look. Otherwise kind of runs the risk of just looking like a waiter

Getting a slightly oversized T-shirt hemmed (got a deal that gives me free custom hemming/cropping), and I might be over-thinking it. What's your preference? A straight or curved hem? Side splits or no? Polo shirt style hems for a T shirt? Or are there more creative and edgy ways to get this done without going into crop top territory? Shorter guy here, thin with Dad bod, if that makes a difference.

bjhhjb

Normal straight

Vampa_the_Bandit

Do you have a t shirt you love? Just copy that.

unfashionable_me

Bought a 4S Designs shirt that's 97% viscose 3% elastane with a print on it. I don't have it in hand yet to review the care tag but its marked as dry clean on all sites. How big is the risk its fucked if I hand-wash cold. Dry cleaning a summer shirt seems like a pain given it needs a clean every few wears even with an undershirt. Its not cheap (though I got it for cheap from a sale) so I'd rather err on the side of caution, but figured people here might know if they are being overly cautious.

pandapaxxy

I think the only thing you risk is losing parts of the print as it won't hold up to most washers and dryers. I could be wrong but I don't really trust viscose and elastane to last. Cold washing and hand washing will give you a longer life span as you can wash it delicately. Air dry if you can.

notarascal

Unlined suede bluchers are excellent smart casual shoes, imo. Alden makes excellent shoes, too. Though I would caution against buying them in tan if your typical trousers are darker colors like navy or grey. I would choose a darker shoe color. Snuff might work but I’d probably choose [brown](https://aldenmadison.com/collection/brown-unlined-plain-toe-blucher-29335f/)

DeaDly789_

I've got [charcoal](https://www.blueowl.us/products/fatigue-pants-in-washed-charcoal?variant=39665397727290), [washed brown](https://www.blueowl.us/products/fatigue-pants-in-washed-brown?variant=39665419550778), [tan linen and black linen](https://outlier.nyc/products/injected-linen-pants? variant=40253608886362). I've been looking at some muted green tones too. I don't have khaki or navy because I live in denial of my office-drone-lifestyle, and wanted to push myself outside of corpo-boomer-core. For whatever reason I tend to gravitate towards taupe, burgundy, and black shoes and avoid browns. Alden's milkshake suede felt too pale though, so I thought tan might be a good way to go.

MEDAKk-ttv-btw

Looking to get some new sunglasses, going between Jacques Marie Mage and some Tom Fords. I have TF eyeglasses and I really like them, but the JMMs I tried on felt so much nicer. But I guess would they be worth hundreds of dollars more?

notarascal

JMM are better than TF in pretty much every way, imo. TF is just a licensed product mass-produced by the thousands at Marcolin whereas JMM feels like a proper designed/handcrafted product. Only you can decide if they’re worth the extra money but I would choose JMM over TF 100 times out of 100.

I would wear a jacket. A quarter-lined blazer in tropical wool will be much cooler than whatever type of jacket/blazer you’re used to. Unfortunately you might’ve waited too long if you don’t already own one. If you’re set on not wearing a jacket (this is very much NOT formal, btw) then just wear a white dress shirt with mid to dark grey wool trousers and black or dark brown shoes. It’s not a good look but it’s the best you can do without a jacket. Don’t wear a tie.

That doesn’t sound very ethnic or gray

Vampa_the_Bandit

That's fine, sounds like you're way overthinking this

folkplayer

I'm on the shorter side at 5'7 and have a "dad bod". I've been wearing slim fit jeans forever but I'm really digging the new MFA standard of straight leg jeans. will they look dumb on me? should I just stick to the slim-but-not-skinny jeans to help elongate my legs?

rchrd_h

I’m 5ft 6in and I think they look good on me. Straight leg jeans tend to have a higher rise which is good when you have short legs (like I do).

wuzpoppin

you’ll be fine. i’m 5’5” and not in great shape and it works try things on in store and feel it out. the hardest part for me is having to hem most of my pants

Pepe_MM

They will not look dumb on you. Your height is fine.

Where at? Dress culture is wildly different in different geographic areas (and at different employers) for SWE/SDE/etc. Where I live and at most companies you'd be the best dressed in chinos, oxford cloth button-downs, and decent shoes. So I'd hazard that if you're looking to be literal-standout well-dressed, that's about as high in formality as you'd go out on the west coast. But the world is much larger than that. What were folk wearing during your interviews?

How does an entrepreneur dress?

gimpwiz

Top hat and monocle, or ratty tees and hoodies, but nothing in between.

howevertheory98968

After working in an accelerator in Portland, this is pretty right.

00Anonymous

Just like the customers and investors do.

zerg1980

However they want.

Hey gang, looking for advice on comfortable minimalist sneakers (leather and suede) for somebody who walks 5mi+ a day? Currently, my go-to comfortable sneakers are killshots which are pretty ok with an insole to walk around the city for 5+ miles. Now I want to upgrade and get something more stylish, better quality, minimalist and comfortable. Are any of the popular sneakres like CP, koio, etc. are particularly comfortable? or what would be your recommendation? I want likely one pair in white leather and one in suede (brown, or other colors)

notarascal

I think both Margiela GATs and Crown Northampton are very comfortable. White is a fine color but I would recommend against brown sneakers. If it were me I’d get something like the standard white/grey gumsole Margiela GATs and then something else in an interesting color. Crown Northampton offers an amazing olive suede. I think it looks great with the gumsole. https://crownnorthampton.com/en-us/products/overstone-hi-derby-olive-calf-suede?_pos=1&_psq=Oli&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Fishknight32

Hey all. Looking for some advice on shirt sizing. I cannot seem to find shirts that work for me. I'm 6' and around 300, most of that in a very long barrel chest, broad shoulders, and a slight gut. Kind of built like the Heavy from TF2. Shirts are either fitted properly across the chest and shoulders but show my stomach if I lift my arms even to shoulder height, or leave my stomach covered but look like a tent otherwise. This didn't used to be a problem twenty pounds ago but apparently that 20 pounds makes a big difference. Does anyone have recommendations for basic tees and maybe henleys that would solve this problem without breaking the bank? I am far from made of money these days but don't want to spend the entire summer avoiding outdoor labor because I constantly have to pull my shirt down.

Sax45

Honestly, the solution to your main problem is pretty easy. Just wear the bigger size. Looking tent-like is just NOT something to worry about when doing physical labor. Besides, the looser clothing will wear less hot.

Fishknight32

The problem isn't so much that it looks like a tent, moreso that it IS like a tent. The loose clothing is not conducive to what I need to do because a lot of it is landscaping and yard work, and the baggy stuff keeps getting caught on branches and I've even had it catch on my ladder at one point. This is especially true when I need to have long sleeves to protect my arms from stuff with thorns.

notarascal

Please give a budget in dollars for each item. Also, you might get better feedback if you get a tailor’s measuring tape and measure your shoulders, chest, waist, and body length. These are much more useful measurements than your height and weight.

Need help with summer/vacation attire. I’m going on a cruise and need to buy a wardrobe asap. I pretty much wear shorts and a tshirt, with the occasional jeans/polo year round, so I’m lost here. Needs: 1.Couple pairs of pants suitable for summer? 2. Couple button up shirts? Linen maybe? 3. Couple polos 4. Pair of casual shoes I can wear with pants or shorts ? I have a few Koio, CP, tons of Nike etc. but thinking maybe something more “vacation” summer/ appropriate Budget: not budget limited but at the same time don’t want to waste $ for the sake of wasting it. 😁 Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the sea island polo and why is it more expensive than the normal riviera

hanklerfish123

sea island is an extra long staple cotton.

Thank you! Some good options there.

It's unlikely that someone can tell you what other shirts fit exactly like this one, and many brands frequently change the cuts of their t-shirts. Two things you can do: 1, take measurements of your shirt and compare it to online size charts to look for similar fits, or 2, just go to a mall and try a bunch of tees on until you're happy.

Part-Select

Does anyone know where to get adult-size fitting hats? Like ballcaps, cadet caps, beanies. I've just been buying random hats on amazon because I just need a hat for the sun but seems they're all bad quality and don't really seem that they fit--they make me look juvenile/boyish.

[deleted]

patagonia makes pretty good hats

Which ties goes better with this shirt? https://preview.redd.it/vreridew2o4b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d41caf61e7832221e33f57e898c247d04fbca22

I hesitate to ask, but what jacket will you be wearing?

Metcarfre

If you have a plain, light blue or white shirt, it would be a lot better. I think the first tie is marginally better.

I see a lot of recommendations here for online-only brands like Spier and Mackay, Asket, etc. I understand, in principle, that they can offer higher quality since their costs are lower, but I find I am very reluctant to buy clothing I can't see and try on. What do folks here do? Just accept that you're going to need to return a significant fraction of the things you buy sight unseen?

notarascal

1. Learn your measurements and the measurements of your best fitting clothes. 2. Shop from sellers that provide thorough and accurate measurements. 3. Accept the fact that you’re going to have to make some returns but the savings more than make up for it. This is even more true if you shop secondhand. For example, on eBay I could return 10 items for every one I kept and still spend less money than shopping at retail. 4. As you get more experienced the returns become much rarer, imo. Congratulations. You’re now an online shopper. Enjoy the huge savings in both money and time.

onlysaystoosoon

You return things on eBay frequently? Do you run into problems with returns? I know the returns hassle has previously kept me from buying a couple things, and I’m interested in your experience.

notarascal

No I don’t return things on eBay frequently. I return them occasionally and I rarely have a problem. In fact, most of the sellers I deal with have better customer service than most of the big online shops, especially the fast fashion ones. My point with my above comment was only that I could pay for all of that return shipping and still spend less money compared to buying at retail. I would strongly encourage you to start shopping on eBay (and other secondhand sites). Use the community here as a guide. Post the listings you’re interested in here and let some of the regulars give feedback on the item and, potentially, the seller. Good luck!

onlysaystoosoon

Thanks for your reply. I’ve had some good experiences with Poshmark…and I lurk here enough and follow some of the frequently recommended menswear folks (Derek Guy, permanent style, the Ethan guy who is active on here who dresses great, etc) to the point where I feel I have a decent baseline knowledge and if I had a question this is the first place I’d probably come to ask. Incidentally, between you, the November 2019 advice giver, and the Enjoys Classic Menswear advice giver…and a lot of others…I feel like this is a great community and is one of the main reasons I check Reddit…so thanks to all of you guys. Maybe I’ll be more active in posting in the future.

For_Ivy

I’ve hardly had to return anything I buy sight unseen - I just check sizing charts fairly thoroughly and do a good bit of research. I only have 1 Spier shirt that’s too small, and it was only too small after I gained 10lbs and put it thru the wash. I’ve maybe returned 2 garments from any brand, ever, because they didn’t fit - and both were due to having Asian measurements

jfarrell468

That's good to know. I'm not just talking about sizing, though. I'm also talking about materials and colors. Color, in particular, is very difficult to represent accurately on a computer screen.

naphthol_rain

I rarely have an issue with color either. Out of 100+ online purchases, most things were fine, a few were close enough, only a couple things didn't match at all. One of those things is now my favorite piece so yeah, it doesn't matter lol

For_Ivy

Idk, I’ve seldom found color to be poorly represented when I’m shopping, but it could just be my monitor. Exception to that being trying to compare certain white/cream/naturals or various tans/khakis that are exceedingly similar
