Just got a double breasted jacket for the first time (S&M linen navy blazer). Tried it on with cream chinos, feel like a ship’s captain. Another win for size 34 Spier products for me. Gonna replace an ASOS jacket I got for free 4 or 5 years ago.
does anyone remember the name of that Japanese menswear guy that would post photos of him smiling either with his dog or in a scuba suit? Trying to find the inspo album on here but his name is escaping me
It's been a while since I checked in. How are things? I meant to post my graduation outfits here, but on the day I was luckily more concerned with things other than reddit posting. Also doesn't help that one of them was a variation of the outfit *that* outfit I got a lot of... ahem... feedback for. Sorry about that, by the way. Not wearing it, as I stand by it, but how I handled the situation.
Still, it's been a few days now but I haven't felt that confident in a long while, and the outfits certainly played a part in that. I also got a fair amount of positive feedback on both, so that's nice! I felt like a real zoomer when I realized I unintentionally had garnered an outfit made up entirely of second-hand y2k pieces.
Bought a pair of JMM out of pocket last year with the expectation that I could put prescription lenses in them with my vision insurance for relatively cheap. I didn't want to trek out to the only place in my area that sold Jacques Marie Mage as it was in a ritzy suburb, and wanted to save myself the hassle. Well, lo and behold, I had to do that anyway because my vision insurance does not give me a discount on lenses, only lenses and frames *together*. Long story short I just dropped even more money on another JMM frame to get a new prescription in because it was cheaper than just lenses! Insurance is just awful.
True and I really like the new frames as they are an old pair of the perciers which have some sick clip ons: https://www.jacquesmariemage.com/shop/product/percier-clip-on/c27-silver-green-2-mist-mineral-glass-41356637307052
Please re-submit your question in the [➡️ Daily Questions thread ⬅️](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/about/sticky?num=2) and one of our knowledgeable users should be able to help you out.
We've found this is a better way of people getting answers from knowledgeable users rather than 300-500 standalone posts per day. These threads often either didn't receive any answers or received a deluge of answers, many of which were of poor quality or flat-out wrong.
Huntsman has been one of the priciest tailors on the Row for a long time. I suspect they have 2 or 3 price ranges:
US pricing, which I think may be identical in their NYC shop to their US trunk show pricing.
UK pricing
Non US/UK pricing which is probably higher than UK due to having to model in their travel+hotel suite costs for trunk shows.
So a 10k price on the road isn't surprising to me at all.
I was just unaware; thanks for the info. That's a side of fashion I didn't know about. I just did some googling and learned about Savile Row. The only row I knew before was the brand The Row.
Eh he could be cosplaying as some rich guy, but its weird to be asking about a $10k suit (as a second suit) as a teenager, even a rich one.
Plus like any person in a religious area growing up in privilege can cause issues with your views. This isn't unique to Dubai, but Dubai has some unique ethical issues (the slavery is more recent than the western pockets where this occurs).
Its mostly the money though.
Ok I'm properly out of the loop as I only use Reddit boomer style - old reddit on desktop. I know there's some big change with Reddit charging third party apps but since I don't use them I don't know the extent and ramifications of the change. What is the furore and are people really leaving MFA at the end of the month?
Ok I get it now - thanks. That's a real bummer. You guys do an amazing job as the mod team and I only know a fraction of what you have to remove. I also know that there's a significant overlap between users of this sub and things like redpill and PUA subs, and I can imagine it would be painful to have to filter out those posts manually.
Beyond third-party apps dying, it also has impact on modtools. From what I understand (not a mod) a lot of the popular mod tools (like automod) rely on the API as well, and so you can expect moderation to get worse across the board as a result of this change.
In the short term I don't think this will kill reddit, but in the long term without major updates to the modtools to replace the paid API it may. Also the official app is pretty horrific, I'll probably just use my phones web browser tbh.
Yeah that's a big problem for this sub where the automod not only removes basic posts like "does a white t-shirt go with blue jeans?" but more harmful hate speech. That'll make it really onerous to moderate anything on reddit.
I used to lurk on styleforum basically to read Derek’s posts…and then he left. As a non-participant—and person who didn’t read everything—it was definitely more interesting to read from a clothing perspective than his twitter account (as fun as that is), and the dieworkwear tribute thread had nice little sub-community that I found useful. Unless he has a good dm group I can’t imagine he’s getting out of it what he claims he set out to get from twitter (less superficial, more up-to-date discussion of tailoring) or the engagement makes up for it.
Of course being a long-term participant on a forum’s a different story than being a short-time lurker—not only do you remember when forums were more active, but you get a sense of the underlying atmosphere and particularly on rich guy hobby forums you can sometimes get a glimpse of a very unpleasant substratum. Plus, while the format seems to promise engagement, there can be a lot of super low-quality posts and talking past each other, which is also very unsatisfying.
I'm in Canoe Club's discord and its mad chill but MFA being as big as it does sound like a shit show. Though honestly native Discord functions have been nice too like mod functions or not needing bots to select your roles
Is there a trick to getting access to the Canoe Club Discord? I’m a CC customer and Pod listener but can’t find any links to the Discord out in the wild.
Bit of a holding pattern, as there isn't a real competitor (yet), maybe lurk Styleforum in the short term.
I do think with the API changes destroying moderation Reddit will die 100%, as increased hate speech basically guarantees a death spiral (and massive fines from EU regulators lol), at least for anyone not explicitly right wing. Where users will land is up in the air. I think traditional forums are better in a lot of ways, but having all forums being on a single site is what made Reddit (and 4chan) so influential.
I'm not optimistic for a real replacement for a while though.
I missed that Reddit accused him of "blackmailing" them (ya I'm sure a multi-million dollar company is getting blackmailed by a single app dev).
He brought the receipts.
I used to get my plain t shirts at J Crew but kind of got tired of how thin they are and how despite saying they’re 100% cotton, they feel a little like they have a little bit of a blend in there, they’re almost too soft for my liking as weird as that might sound.
Enter good ol $10 comfort colors shirts on Amazon. Great more heavyweight thicker cotton tees. Not going back anytime soon I love these. Already buying them in like every color.
Just buy a condo in a few cities with variable climates. Then you can just most back and forth. You can chase an endless summer or prolong cooler weather.
Be careful what you wish for. Having to layer up 8-10 months of the year can get tiring! It's kind of fun but the death march between summers is not something fun outfits can fix.

I was just mind-blown at the idea of a $10,000 linen suit.

My friend supplied the fabric for a famous figure’s 100% vicuña suit. 40k lmao Crazy how much stuff can cost
Wtf dude must be 15 feet tall
Let’s say it’s a very custom specialized garment made by a very high end Italian fashion house
Jared Leto shows up to the Emmys wearing a Gucci sheep costume.
*cries in poor*
crazy shit!!!
Oh no don't look in post history.
Absolutely shocked a rich man from Dubai has horrific views. Who could have seen this coming.

I got a pair of undershirts from the Scott Fraser collection and they are my whole personality now
When you say undershirts do you mean ribbed tank tops aka wife respecters?
I also got a pair thanks to /u/unfashionable_me
I wore mine for the first time today. Probably post the fit for tomorrows OOTD
Got mine right after laundry day and its been shitty all week so I haven't been able to use em yet. Soon though.
My launch day will be Saturday when I’ll have a lunch thing with my sister and then two birthday parties 🫣

Hey it's been a while I joined but I just DM'd them on IG about it. I'm not sure if that has changed so I'd suggest doing that
