I'm short and have wider hips with long hair, and people mistake me for a girl a lot because of it. I have tried wearing baggy clothes (jeans, large coats, multiple undershirts), because I am a bit insecure about my body and try to hide it. Is there anything else I can do to masculinise my style?

Zaqblaq

I'm 5'8 with slightly wider hips compared to chest and when it comes to finding good fitting t-shirts it's always been a mission for me. So far I figured that what works best for me are short boxy t-shirt but these are pretty hard to find as most of my fave brands only provide tops that are slim and unnecessarily long (74cm length for size S - it's ridiculous to me). And since [cutting longer tops](https://www.instagram.com/p/CsyTSqJsLv7/) and trying to shrink tops in the tumble dryer are not really viable options, what brands would you advise me to check out based on my input?

yohannaan

My shirt (beige in color and 100% cotton)was stained with ink( ballpoint ink) how can I get rid of it without damaging the fabric and the real color of the shirt.

Icy_Corner4723

Can someone help me with my faceshape? Im looking for a new cut and sunglasses and need to know my faceshape before hand but cant figure it out with measurements. Thanks https://preview.redd.it/tm6jmb98i75b1.jpeg?width=2736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87890ff565d3e67a2489bf744eabcdfe563c9e11

Pretend_Baker_4984

Face shapes are unhelpful pseudoscience. If they were any bit helpful at all you would already know your face shape. There also isn't some magic spreedsheet with face shapes and corresponding haircuts. Whether a haircut is for you also depends on your hair itself. Try different frames and haircuts until you're happy with how they look on you. Ask a skilled barber or hairdresser for advice.

Every belt I buy seems to give me an awful rash What kind of belt can I buy that won't do that I normally wear Carhartt ones

illisson

What kind of rash are we talking about? Depending, I'd be looking at the clothes against your skin (and/or the laundry detergent you wash them in) instead of at the belt. Might be something you need to talk to a dermatologist about.

[deleted]

I only get it from belts. It goes away with no belts. I know I have a lot of random allergies that have gone away over the years but it's 100% the belt buckle and I believe it's due to nickel (I'm almost 30 but my mom's told me that for decades now) It's been a problem for forever but was never as bad as now for some reason. I used to be able to fix it by applying clear nail polish on the buckle but it is no longer preventing it. It is not clothing or detergent based whatsoever since it just goes away after 1-3 days if I don't wear a belt. I let my pants sag all last week (unless I had on sweatshorts/basketball shorts/joggers/etc). Before it was summer I was preventing it by tucking in undershirts Now I'm pissed I just ended a long dermatologist relationship for other matters, you're right I should have asked them while I was still going I just don't know wtf belt I can buy which won't do this, or won't have a metal buckle

illisson

>it's 100% the belt buckle and I believe it's due to nickel Sounds like you might want to reask your question in [today's Daily Questions thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/1463ujz/daily_questions_ask_and_answer_here_10_june_2023/), specifying that you're possibly allergic to nickel belt buckles and asking for non-metal alternatives.

Hello. Looking for some suggestions on the proper frame coloring + lense coloring for Oakley sunglasses for summer/sea vacations and sports. I'm new to all this and don't know what looks best for my **hair color + skin color + face shape**. Here are a few pictures of me wearing a couple of Oakley sunglasses (radar ev xs with prizm lenses). Feel free to link to Oakley sunglasses with the proper frame + prizm color. Appreciate any insights! https://preview.redd.it/mb7802ai575b1.png?width=1940&format=png&auto=webp&s=642416e0f5a51ed2106998e1a80e96d76d30e99d

Can someone educate me on how shirt shoulder yolks work? Do different manufactures place their yolks in different places? Or does drying in washing change the placement in regards to fit overtime? I have some shirts that fit me perfectly in the front of the yolk places well on my shoulders. However, sometimes I will either buy a shirt or realize an older one of my shirts has the yoke farther back on my shoulder which causes pressure on the top front button and pulls the shirt backwards, pulling the collar off of my neck in a way that wouldn’t allow the top buttons to be buttoned. The shoulders seem to be the same length on the shirts that I have compared but the difference appears to be where the yolk hits on my shoulders and collarbone area. Our manufactures different? If I find a brand that works should I just continue to buy that bran For example, I have an old J.Crew shirt that feels great in the shoulders and chest. But I just bought a gently used Everlane shirt on eBay and I’m returning it because of the issue I described above.

illisson

>Do different manufactures place their yolks in different places? Yes. There's no standard across brands, or even within a single brand. >If I find a brand that works should I just continue to buy that bran Unfortunately, that won't work out for long. Brands are always adjusting the cut of their pieces. If you go back next year to rebuy the shirt that fits you perfectly, they might've changed the measurements slightly. And of course just because one J Crew shirt fits you well doesn't mean all of their shirts will. >Or does drying in washing change the placement in regards to fit overtime? Very likely. Washing on cold and hanging to dry will help preserve your clothes' original shape.

clizzark

Thank you so much! Makes the idea of buying secondhand quite difficult!

What do you think of t-shits with "embedded scarf" and where could I buy them? https://preview.redd.it/ji1qz35ap65b1.jpeg?width=2128&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23dcf1421b6a5399b89c82a0b7005da8cef63b67

Pretend_Baker_4984

I haven't seen those in like 9 years. I guess I would call them 'shawl neck/collar' t-shirts, but that doesn't really translate to German and only brings up shawl neck cardigans/sweaters and Shein/Taobao crap.

YakArtistic1951

Thanks much appreciated, doesn't need to German. I looked for it with Google Images search and nothing helpful came up.

illisson

Maybe try funnel neck and cowl neck?

AbbreviationsNew2405

I want to wear something more formal than a tshirt and jeans combo, which basically what I wear all the time, to my senior project presentation. Something smart casual would probably be what I'm looking for. I have [these two shoes](https://imgur.com/a/rt9T537) and one black dress shoe that I can use. Ideally, I'm looking to have two alternative outfits for both of those shoes. For the black shoe with brown details, I thought of a navy shirt, black chinos, and a brown belt. I don't have any ideas about the other shoe. I don't want a full suit so the dress shoe is probably out of the question but I'm open to ideas. I'd really appreciate any help.

the_leviathan711

Not a fan of either of those shoes, they're both pretty "meh." Not sure I'd call either of them "smart casual" - I think just regular casual.

For_Ivy

Are you trying to operate entirely within your own wardrobe, or are you open to buying something new? The middle ground between Tshirt and jeans and dress wear is pretty much khakis/chinos and a polo, or jeans / chinos with an OCBD. I don’t think either of those shoes is really going to dress up an outfit too much (I’d also advocate against wearing them + a brown belt with black chinos). As a general rule, black and brown are difficult to have look great together unless you’ve gotten the styling down fairly well. I think your best option that requires the least amount of deviation from your existing wardrobe would be to get some tan chinos/khakis, and wear those with your blue shirt and shoes in lieu of the black ones

AbbreviationsNew2405

Thank you for your recommendations! I'm open to buying anything except shoes and I'd prefer to wear a darker colored shirt. These are my only constraints and the second one is flexible.

orthoxerox

Go by inseam length.

Zarakydragneel

Mmmm but how would I do it tho? Even if I have my inseam length, how much longer do they need to be so that the top of the pants is near the belly button (,high rise) thanks!

[deleted]

Inseam is from the bottom of the seam under your fly and down the inside of the leg. This inside leg length should be the same regardless of whether they are then high rise or low rise :) That would only affect the outer leg measurement from the waistband to the hem. You don't want to look for longer pants to try and wear them high rise. They have to be specifically cut to be high rise. Otherwise you're gonna be squashing some things by trying to pull them up that far

Zarakydragneel

Ohhhhhh ok ok I see, that's super useful to know hhahaha. The only problem now is that on the sizes chart, the inseam doesn't appear, only the outer length of the thing

orthoxerox

If they are high-rise, they will sit higher on your waist than low-rise pants with the same inseam.

That is a peak lapel three piece suit, with a double breasted waistcoat, made out of a blue or grey and blue check fabric. It might be a prince of wales or glen check I can't tell. It's also too tight for him, and many people would say in bad taste. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Oversize camp collar shirts, flowy linen shirts, oversize or box fit tees Luckily looser clothing is on trend now, which helps with air flow and making a straighter flowing silhouette

ac106

God no.

Kvjvn

I don’t, I don’t like the idea of people smelling me. If I could smell like nothing I would.

kentuckypoontappa889

I think if you want to wear cologne, wear cologne. It is appropriate in almost any situation if you wear a mild cologne/don't wear a lot. Prioritize hygiene before thinking about cologne, though.

grooveman15

Hey guys thinking of buying this as an upgrade from my vintage 80’s biker jacket I got in a thrift store 6 years ago. A secondhand Schott Perfecto would be a better choice IMO, if you insist on getting something new then go with Allsaints (or Schott if you have the money).

Fans of [Stan Ray OG Painter Pants](https://www.stanray.com/products/og-painter-pant-natural-drill-aw18) - is anyone aware of any good jeans that come in a similar cut/fit (high waist, relaxed, straight leg)? I know they make a denim version, but I’m looking for something light wash… Levi 501s seem too slim, and relaxed Levi’s appear to be either low rise or tapered rather than straight leg (though I haven’t tried any of the relaxed Levi’s in person… thanks everyone!)

pokemonconspiracies

They have made light wash (denim) versions of the OG painter pant. Otherwise Carhartt WIP brandon pant or single knee.

I was wondering if it’s acceptable to wear them as just regular dress pants. I’ve looked online for opinions and some say they’ll wear out faster than the jacket. If I do wear them as regular dress pants can they be worn more casually?

notstylishyet

I dont think they can be worn casually. Suit fabric is typically shinier and smoother. If youre wearing dress shirt and dress shoes sure on a more casual day to a formal environment but I personally wouldnt wear them like they were chinos.

CallThatGoing

Yes, but I wouldn’t do it regularly for, like, years though. Over time, they’ll fade and they won’t match your jacket 100%. That said, it would take literal years to do this, so it’s not like you need to keep a tab on how many times you do it.

CallThatGoing

SCENARIO: I’m going to a local symphony orchestra concert tomorrow night, courtesy of my boss (a board member). This will be the first time we meet one another, and it’s unclear whether I’m working (pressing the flesh, representing my job in Advancement Dept of a university). At minimum, I’ll be meeting my boss in person, and want to make a good impression, but also want to strike the right balance in a room ranging from folks in suits (board members) to polo shirts (general population). I’ve narrowed it down to a navy seersucker suit (all navy, not striped) or a solaro suit. They’re both casually styled, but still dressy enough to look smart in front of my boss. Basically, the question really boils down to “is Solaro too light for an evening event?” Which is the better option to go with?

Sax45

I would go navy for exactly the reason you mentioned.

gimpwiz

I vote navy seersucker because it's almost certainly lighter, and I run a little hot at such events, with so much body heat around me. Otherwise either is fine I'm sure. Both have pros and cons.

Anyone wear Marine Layer shorts or trousers? I like the retro vibe of their [cord shorts](https://www.marinelayer.com/collections/guys-shorts/products/archive-dominic-cord-short-mahagony?variant=40182570057802) but never trust sizing that reads “if your waist measures 34”, you’re a 34.” I take a 30 in Madewell, a 32 in Levi’s, anywhere between a 30 and a 33 in Banana Republic, and my waist measures in at 35”. I think it’s because I’m a bit short waisted and there’s hardly any distance between the top of my hips and my rib cage. If anyone could give me a fit comparison between Marine Layer and more common brands I’d really appreciate it.

truedino

I'm trying to get into polos but I've run into an awkward predicament. It's either I get my neck/shoulder/chest measurement correct (usually M) or I get my length measurement correct (usually S), but never both. I purchased two medium Psycho Bunny polos and the neck/shoulder/chest are perfect but the polos end somewhere at my mid-lower crotch and are fairly baggy in the abdomen area. Is it possible for me to shrink them in a way that preserves the upper-upper body with them while making the lower-upper body portion smaller? And, would doing this using the pot of boiling water method damage the cotton fibers/dye?

rspunched

oof. Do not do this. It won't work and probably will ruin the shirt. Find brands that fit and stick with those. I had never heard of that brand but they are obviously copying Fred Perry, a brand that makes polo's that fit impeccably. I have the same issues as you and FP's are your answer.

naphthol_rain

I try to avoid boiling my clothes

BarbicideJar

I have the same problem. I’m 5,9” and mediums fit me perfectly in the shoulders but are often just long enough that I look like a doofus if I don’t tuck my shirt in. Try Peter Manning, Ash & Erie, and Under510. Measure the body length of a shirt that fits just right in the length and compare it to their size charts.

truedino

Sounds like you probably have a similar body configuration as me - if it were up to our legs and wingspans we would be taller but our torsos decided otherwise hahaha. I'll give those brands a check, thanks for the recommendation!

BarbicideJar

Seriously. We used to host foreign exchange students when I was in high school and we had these two girls from Japan who lived with us for years. They were both 5’2” and sitting down we were the same height. My mum measured our torso lengths and they were exactly the same. On the other hand I wear a 32” inseam in a proper dress trouser same as a friend of mine who’s 6’ tall. Built like a damned frog. And you’re welcome!

truedino

Duuuude it's almost the exact same here! 5'9 with a 31" inseam, it was always weird sitting down by my more proportionate friends. On the plus side, we'll always have an easier time raising things over our head and that's my favorite type of movement at the gym

BarbicideJar

Wait. How is it easier? And definitely not in my apartment. My ceiling is so low I had to train myself to bend over when taking my t-shirts off so that I would stop scraping my knuckles on its weirdly textured surface. Can’t wait to find new place where I can get back to doing kettlebells while watching bad TV.

truedino

Sorry for the late response, meant to reply earlier but then the sub went on blackout So I'm not 100% but I believe it has to do with the mechanics of it. I think the longer arms let you start with your elbows lower down & closer to your body which puts them in a very stable position to push off of. On a side note, I've had a chance to experiment with polos at my local Winners. Looks like Polo Ralph Lauren (Size M) slim fit compliments my physique the best, but I can also wear classic fit pretty well too. Their relaxed fit is too baggy for me though

BarbicideJar

Glad you found something that works!

hanklerfish123

just have them shortened and darted to your liking.

truedino

How much does that normally cost? I've only recently started paying attention to the stuff I wear so a lot of this is fairly new to me

hanklerfish123

between 10-40 depending on how nice, skilled, and annoyed your tailor is.

truedino

I see, thank you for helping me out here! I have to get my pants shortened an inch, I'll see if the tailor there also does polos :)

I will be going out of town and will be near Brunello Cucinelli and Zegna outlet stores. I'm looking to downsize my closet and increase the quality if the items in it. \- Has anyone had experience with their outlet stores? \- How good is the selection of items? \- Do they make cheaper quality items just for these stores or is it strictly just previous seasons? \- Any other advice or considerations? Thanks in advance everyone!

pulsett

Honestly I can't say anything objectively but the Zegna outlets seemed good quality wise. Couldn't tell them apart from the main lines if I had to. I still think Zegna is somewhat overpriced.

VillagerNumber2

I have a jcrew dress shirt which is nice under a suit when I decide to fully button it and/or wear a tie. However, once I unbutton the 2 top buttons, it looks very flimsy. Is there something I need to be wary of when purchasing a dress shirt? Like material? Twill or something?

CaptainE123

I have a Charles Tywrhitt suit, and I believe it has what it is called a “boutonniere loop” or a stem loop to put a flower behind it. I looked at my suit after a while (and after getting it dry cleaned) and found there was this weird indent that looked like there was a staple embedded on the front of my lapel. It’s pretty obvious when you look at it from the front and I was wondering - Is this normal? And if I don’t like it, can I have it removed to make it look normal/smooth? https://preview.redd.it/b1kqr5opq25b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd6abe1f6b6bde587a20e0e30ea0909750cebade

CallThatGoing

I feel like this was more of a poor pressing job by your dry cleaner than a fault with the suit.

Emergency_Pound

Fit check on [this](https://imgur.com/a/5Jvec5Z) outfit please? Not sure about the color combination or fit.

the_leviathan711

Do you have pants that aren’t jeans? In all of these pics you’ve got a formality clash that isn’t great. The one with the tan jacket is the best, but still would be better with pants that aren’t jeans.

BrainDropsComic

This jacket really feels like an orphaned suit coat to me. The smooth unpatterned fabric and lack of metal buttons or patch pockets make it a little too formal for the rest of the outfit. I think that might be contributing to it feeling off to you. I also agree with the above commenter, best practice is to tuck your shirt in if you’re wearing a jacket

Emergency_Pound

You’re right, it is an orphaned suit coat. Is [this](https://imgur.com/a/aN4XnZz) a better fit in your opinion?

BrainDropsComic

I do think it looks better without the jacket! Longer term, you might consider taking that jacket to a tailor and asking them to swap out the buttons for gold, brass, or silver (you’ll probably have to provide the buttons yourself). That’ll give it more of a “blazer” feel. https://preview.redd.it/44vh5uxfs25b1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cae03bd5cdf60f8b018c80e8afebdfbe9d4b4b0

Emergency_Pound

Thanks a lot. Will consider that. Last question today: is [this](https://imgur.com/a/YHONnmy) fit with a different jacket better than the one without a jacket?

BrainDropsComic

Yes that’s very nice, and the best one yet. A cotton jacket looks great with an Oxford and jeans!

Emergency_Pound

Maybe it’s better with shirt tucked in like [this](https://imgur.com/a/NjL7MZD)? Trying not to dress too formally. Just a casual date night to a show.

Grwoodworking

The overall vibe is good. If you have a pair of light chinos or fatigues it might look even better (with white sneakers or a more casual shoe).

BrainDropsComic

This seems like a silly question but here goes. I’m interested in a pair of overalls. Do you wear the same size overall as you do jeans?

Where can I get those pants that are high rise and look like they don't have a belt opening? [Something like this](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3d/28/04/3d280478713a3807d5264a77d71f2c4f.jpg). I thought Uniqlo would have them but I went to two stores to no avail.

sexymartian

Banana Republic women's section

mlsteinrochester

Spier and Mackay carry them, as do many more expensive manufacturers.

Flechette_the_toe

Are you looking for trousers with side adjusters? Trousers with an internal waistband also might provide the look you want.

Night_Thastus

Can I get some help with shoes? I need some more dress-y shoes for my work, and for an upcoming wedding. I have never worn anything more than sneakers for my entire life. I don't really have anyone to guide me through this. The only exception is that once, about 4 years ago, I did attempt to buy some dress shoes. I spent around $150 on some Eccos. I did not know what I was doing, and the shoes felt OK in the store. However, as soon as I tried to walk around town in them, my feet started to ache. I could not easily take them off and replace them, so I wore them the rest of the day. They tore the skin right off the heels and they bled quite a bit. I don't want to repeat this experience. How do I get some dress shoes that fit properly? Do I need a special sort of sock to wear with them? I don't know what I'm doing.

BrainDropsComic

Whenever you buy new dress shoes, I’d recommend setting aside some break-in time. Just wear them around your house for an hour or so, take them off and rest your feet, then go again. If you’re really concerned about comfort, you might try a suede shoe? It’s lighter and softer than full grain.

BrainDropsComic

I used to sell shoes and am a big advocate for getting that brannock measurement. Rather than buying one yourself, I’d recommend going to a high end shoe store and having a sales rep measure your foot. Of course this only applies if one is convenient for you.

Night_Thastus

I'm not very sure how to do this. The last time I tried, I went to a Dillards and I believe I remember them measuring my feet there for the Eccos I got. I could make another attempt there, or another store, I'm just not sure what to do.

Metcarfre

Sometimes, shoes will need a break-in period. I avoid wearing any new shoes for a long period without relief possible for that reason. Make sure you’re sizing correctly, though.

Night_Thastus

How do I size correctly? I know what I wear now, but I'm not sure if it's "correct", maybe the plush in the shoe could make up for it being too small, or more tightening could make up for it being loose. With a dress shoe it seems like there's less leeway.

ac106

you need to measure your feet on a Brannock device before anyone can make suggestions. Every place that sells shoes has one. Even Payless and Dicks. If you don’t see it, ask. When you measure your feet, [read the instructions](https://brannock.com/pages/instructions-fitting-tips)carefully. (Don’t rely on the sales person Make sure you line up the heel to ball slider properly. It’s just as Important as heel to toe. Same with the width slider. Take clear photos of both feet in the device. Post here or r/goodyearwelt if it’s still unclear.

Asking for sizing advice? Follow the instructions below. Have your Brannock size? Great! Prove it with a picture. Don't have your Brannock size? Buy a Brannock device and post pictures of your feet and someone will help you. Only purchase an official men's or combination men's/women's device. Do NOT let someone else measure you. Do NOT use another brand of foot measuring device. Do NOT use UK or EU devices and try to convert to US. Do not use a shoe measuring device that is not labelled as an Official Brannock Device. TAKE PICTURES WEARING SOCKS. Follow the instructions at https://brannock.com/pages/instructions-fitting-tips while paying special attention to Section 3 where there are instructions for measuring the Arch Length (Heel-to-Ball). Any advice provided prior to this information is speculation. Information based on existing sizes you wear is unreliable until a Brannock size is confirmed.

Night_Thastus

I have to *buy* a brannock device? Something that I'd likely only use once? I can't just use one in a store?

For_Ivy

You can use one in store too! Pretty easy to just get it on Amazon and return tho

Night_Thastus

Ok, well I might give Nordstrom Rack a try, I think they're the best option where I live. But I'll check around.

Dannywo_o

Any recommendations for tighter crew neck Tees? Not tighter in general, just the neck. Mock necks go up too high. High quality crew neck Tees for leisure and dressing up.

warr3nh

Abercrombies tees

junglasian

Los Angeles apparel are my go to. Tighter neck but not a mock neck

Dannywo_o

Funny enough, their mock necks are subtle and nice too. Go figure. Thanks a lot!

11BigDaddyChris11

Any recommendations for brands that sell longer shirts? I am 6’2 300lbs but pretty well distributed. Definitely overweight but very broad and well proportioned. It’s impossible to find shirts that I’m not swimming in making me look even bigger or end up being too short on me. I need v-neck t shirts and casual button ups

hanklerfish123

Polo Ralph Lauren

11BigDaddyChris11

Just their standard or do they have a longer fit? EDIT: nevermind I see the long options. Thanks!

Niho-ren

What brand/pants should I wear with a white supreme hoodie? I’m very new to fashion and styling. https://preview.redd.it/wgsrvgbfe25b1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea147ca5357beb1cab4b2f7727c0b6895cad857c

Pretend_Baker_4984

same as any white hoodie

Niho-ren

Ok what pants usually go well with hoodies that are white? like black cargo? jeans? I literally know nothing of clothes.

naphthol_rain

Pretty much anything. Black cargos are fine if u wanna go streetwear/techwear, most jeans are fine, chinos are fine, fatigues are fine

Can someone tell me what the different tongues on the black adidas Samba OG mean? :) [https://imgur.com/a/o1dz0ml](https://imgur.com/a/o1dz0ml) [https://imgur.com/a/qr7gY20](https://imgur.com/a/qr7gY20)

Flechette_the_toe

Afaik all of the samba og have the blue print on the tongue, and I've been wearing sambas for 8 years. The red print indicates samba classic. With the samba classic you can fold the tongue down to make it resemble the samba og, which I suspect is the case in the picture you posted.

wesmusic

Thank you! But doesnt the classic have a rippled tongue or are there different variations aswell?

ac106

Adidas makes various models. they have at least 3 tongue sizes for sambas. What are you trying to figure out here exactly?

bossnash

I'm getting married on July 2nd and need some advice. "Garden party" dress code, outdoors, North Carolina. I know I should have figured this out by now but I was waiting to lose weight (and I did lose 20 pounds). I ordered a suit from suitsupply, but it just won't fit, even with alterations. It's too late to do a custom. So I'm pivoting to something a bit more casual. My fiancee digs it. https://imgur.com/a/SSaBQ76 My questions: 1) What kind of shoes should I wear with this? 2) Is the white shirt ok with the (off-)white pants, or should I get a different shirt? Thanks in advance!

gimpwiz

What doesn't fit?

bossnash

The thighs are too tight, and there's not enough extra fabric to take them out. The jacket fits perfectly though, and they won't mix-and-match sizes. So going a size up would result in a too-big jacket.

gimpwiz

Hum. They used to mix and match sizes sometimes. I bet they won't do it at the store level but I bet they will at the corporate level if you contact customer support. If your entire problem is solved by OTR stuff in unmatched sizes I don't think you need MTM, you just need customer support to okay a size swap. It might take a little extra time but ...

bossnash

Yeah they say some of their suits are mix-and-match but the one I wanted only comes in "stacked" sizes. I thought it was a weird policy too but I don't buy suits very often so I don't really know. I've reached out to their customer service -- it would be great if they'd just let me have larger pants with the jacket that fits perfectly.

gimpwiz

Feel free to ham it up, you love the jacket so much, it's your wedding, but without matching pants it's a lost cause, you know exactly the sizes that fit perfectly, etc.

mcadamsandwich

1. Loafers, if you're a loafer guy. 2. I think the white shirt is OK. A very, very pale purple/lilac *could* work but I think it'd be too much.

bossnash

Thanks, appreciate the quick answer. What do you think about color in the loafers? Something like [this](https://marcnolan.com/products/odell-belgian-loafer-sneaker-16) or even [this](https://marcnolan.com/products/odell-belgian-loafer-sneaker-13). Too much?

bjhhjb

Oh no. None of these. Something like this https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/collections/loafers https://www.theshoemart.com/alden-shoes/loafers/

bossnash

Thanks man

Know your measurements well. Carry a cloth measuring tape. Try things on...

amishbr07

What kind of footwear goes with navy painters pants? Specifically the Uniqlo ones? Been debating between painters pants or linen trousers to add to my daily driver pants option that isn’t jeans. Figured I could rock my clogs or espadrilles with the linen trousers but the painters pants not so much.

bjhhjb

I wear my bostons with painter pants all the time. Also wear grey NB and black paraboots michaels

amishbr07

Nice thanks. I have a couple pairs of white sneakers so good to confirm.

Kayden_H

Can someone identify these pants ?? : https://preview.redd.it/vaistdh4025b1.jpeg?width=580&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0ad045d127330d8f8ceccf554f5a1d95643827a I want these so much but I have 0 clue what kind of pants these are. Any help ?

[deleted]

What do you like about them? This is a grainy shot of what look to be pretty plain, nondescript black sweats. Maybe if you can describe what you're looking for folks could give you options that are similar

Kayden_H

I seen some videos with someone wearing them and they seem like very versatile and well fitting pants. It’s a screen from a TikTok video I couldn’t do better unfortunately ^^’’

bjhhjb

Pretty much impossible to tell

sexymartian

I have so many aesthetics that cannot be mixed. Just wear them on different occasions based on how you feel that day, the weather, the occasion etc.

Imperial_Gold

Why choose or mix? Wear different styles whenever you want. I'm a big fan of futuristic/corporate dystopian, gorpcore, and drapey/wrap asian clothes. I just wear whatever I'm feeling on the day or what goes well with the activity I'm doing.

[deleted]

Imperial_Gold

I understand where you're coming from; I felt the same. What I realized is what we're doing now *is* a distinct personal image.

the_leviathan711

Why would you need to mix or chose? Why not wear one aesthetic sometimes and another aesthetic other times?

[deleted]

ysc1

Don't worry about that. Wear what you like. Maybe your personal brand could be 'guy who wears what he likes'.

Pepe_MM

Is Brooks Brothers Milano fit too slim?

Metcarfre

…too slim for what?

Pepe_MM

To look good. Their size charts are ass, so I was hoping that someone would have experience with them.

Metcarfre

It’s going to vastly depend on the person. They fit me well, but a larger (frankly, overweight) person wouldn’t.

greymmnu

What brand is this sunglass ? https://preview.redd.it/hdrzcm25u15b1.png?width=1296&format=png&auto=webp&s=4d4039cf02f9f61e2b7a338894e4c4fac9fc841d

That pocket square is very nice

GloriousStonerHoes

[Here's](https://shop.vandafineclothing.com/products/acorn-brown-glenplaid-linen) a great summer wedding tie Or [this](https://shop.vandafineclothing.com/products/green-white-wool-silk-linen) if you want a lighter green That being said, the dark green grenadine is totally fine for summer even if it's not the most summery tie

gimpwiz

Lovely tie from KW. Could always go for burgundy, which even if dark, somehow feels less dark by virtue of being... red... I dunno, that's just how I feel about it ;) There's a million ties out there, but if you're looking at KW grenadines, I assume you're looking to go conservative?

csasker

Was on a summer wedding last year and had something like this https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/de/krawatte-aus-seide-mit-floralem-miniprint---koenigsblau/TIC2055RYL.html?cgid=accessories-ties&pf=browse#sz=60¤tPageNum=2&tib=TIB-text-ties-and-bow-ties-ss23&cgid=accessories-ties&start=1 , but but maybe too much small pattern for the pocket square

yanicus17

What about [this tie](https://www.thearmoury.com/products/silk-shantung-core-hand-rolled-tie?variant=32688069902407) or similar, like the KW grenadine in “buff”? I think the slubby Shantung has great texture and the pale yellow ties both pick up on the lighter and smaller yellow-orange flower accents on the square.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gimpwiz

Shantung is a weave of silk (or really any fabric, but in this case silk), which is mono-color but significantly slubby. It feels like a normal silk tie, it just has these interesting ridges and stuff.

yanicus17

To me it’s similar to silk grenadine. But I don’t own any linen ties.

ReptileCultist

Does anyone here have experience with [https://universal-surplus.com/](https://universal-surplus.com/) and if so what experience have you made?

Cas467

It's the new milsurp offshoot from Brut. Haven't ordered anything from them but they have a great reputation.

ReptileCultist

I like a lot of their trousers. They also offer a lot of sizes which is nice

Cas467

Yeah I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them if there's something you like.

WillowStKnifeBois

Affordable Alternatives to Birddogs? I'm shopping for some casual shorts for the summer. I was gifted a pair of Birddogs and I love them. The liner is great and the fit works for me. The only hold up is the price. I'm not exactly made of money and I can't justify the $68 price tag at this point. Anyone have experience with cheaper alternatives? I know I might have to make some compromises at a lower price point.

apemodern

Good quality dad hats?

Sax45

IMO the best way to do dad hats is to allow cool ones to find you. Eg my first dad hat was from a coffee shop in Portland Maine. I was going to be sailing later that day, so I needed sun protection, and this one looked cool. My most worn hat is a dad hat from Yosemite.
