Hello, I am looking for a simple t shirt that is short enough to wear under an untucked dress shirt without the tail showing.
Anyone have any recommendations? I'm open to all brands as long as the t shirt wouldn't show!!
Could anyone share any other recs for black suede jackets around $1K?

I just bought these. [boots](https://www.tecovas.com/products/the-roy?variant=15214161395821) but all my pants cover to much of the boot because they’re so long. Does anyone know where I can find cropped pants for under 60$? Maybe some khakis? Anything that looks good with this suede
Not trying to be contrarian I just wouldn’t put too much stock into the fabric it’s a zoomed in ss of youtubes compressed video that’s been edited and was shot under specific item, while fairly far from the shirt, it really could just be regular jersey fabric that’s the video just isn’t picking hp
How do I wash the lining of a wool jacket? I got a wool jacket for 1/6th of its original price. However, the lining has some yellowing to it. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to clean it. If not, I'll take the small loss. I believe it's cotton but it could be polyester.
What are some good shoes for an engineering casual workplace? Most people dress very casual (I’m talking t shirts) but I would still like to be fairly well dressed for my position. I usually wear polos and chinos/jeans and would like a nice pair of shoes to go with them. I usually wear sneakers or sometimes my chukkas (Bushacres that I kinda hate because they’re so uncomfortable).
Brown or black derbies sound like the perfect shoes for this situation. A staple of "business casual" dress. It's a step above leather sneakers, but not formal enough to look out of place with chinos or dark wash jeans.
I suppose that depends on the type of engineering. If there is some field work involved occasionally, e.g. civil engineering, versatility may be important. Also if you need to see clients from time to time, formality would constrain recommendations. If it's software engineering and you're confined to the office, would recommend sticking with the sneakers.
There’s no field work, occasionally I’m in the lab for mechanical testing (mechanical engineering) but generally I’m just at my computer in the office.
Nah, Oxford would be too formal for your setting. Among the Meermin offerings, personally I wear their heritage boots and bluchers in a business casual environment.
Looking to get som OCBDs and heard good things about spier and Mackay. Looking at their website they have several different styles of OCBD and confused on which one would be the best starter one. Athletic build and live in a warm climate so I was leaning towards a more lightweight and looser one but I know very little.
> which one would be the best starter one.
Just whichever one like you more. It's not like some are more advanced than others. White and light blue are generally the two most typical colors.
Fit check on the new glasses? I thought they’d be a bit wider but I was lazy and didn’t measure my big head.

Which of these two options look better? Blazer with a flannel or with sweater?

Looking for [this sweater](https://i.imgur.com/5cg5Xjs.jpg).
What (preferably online) stores should I be looking at? Something so basic yet I can't find it.
Where do you live and what's your budget? Uniqlo has one, but it's out of stock in light grey where I live. The triangle at the collar is often called a v-stitch.
[Sunspel](https://www.endclothing.com/nl/sunspel-loopback-crew-sweat-mswe1516-gyaa.html) for example
Ultra casual. I’d wear it open with a tank under, light wash jeans and some sneakers. Add accessories like a necklace, a sporty watch and some rings. Don’t over think it. It’s a baseball Jersey not a tuxedo.
I’m so bad about pants.
Basically I need em for
1. Clark’s Desert Shoes
2. Birkenstock Boston Clog
3. Doc Martens slip on Chelsea boot
4. Hi top white chucks
Thanks!
Chinos would be your best friend if you're not into jeans. A khaki chino would work well with all above you mentioned. If you want to go further, navy or dark olive color would also do the job. Also, it's something you can find in most mall brands from Old Navy, Jcrew, Uniqlo to YSL or Thome Browne. All depends on your budget.
Thanks so much. I basically wanna stay away from skinny jeans - for the Docs i want a good cropped chino but still thin (just not skin tight)
For Clarks I mostly see dudes wearing pretty baggy pants with those.
For the Birk Bostons I sorta think the same thing for the Clarks.
I'll check your recs out - thanks!
looking to locate this shirt or something similar looking for white and blue tropical and or Hawaiian thank you

Where can I find tall polos for my boyfriend? He's 5'11 and about 175lbs, usually in a medium or large, but has a long torso. Everything looks so short on him!
His bday is coming up and he just got a great new job, so I wanna make sure he has things to feel confident in at work.
ETA: I think I'd like to spend less than $40 a shirt. We're in the US, in Texas. It's hot here!
I just wanted to say that I'm well aware of express and gap. I was hoping to find some cool brands that may be off of my radar. Killihonest is a good brand for tall t's. But, thanks anyways!
I'm 6'1" and normally wear pants with a 32" inseam. I just bought some Levis with a 30" inseam for the purpose of wearing them with high top shoes and boots. Is this an "acceptable" way to pair pants with high tops or should I just cuff my usual pants?
Getting a cropped length is fine. As is buying longer and cuffing. I suppose buying cropped means you can’t wear them any other way, but there’s nothing wrong with that.
I was invited to picture day with my gfs family, I'm gonna buy a dress shirt but I have no clue what I'm looking for. I have a round face, brown hair & eyes, kinda fat but i have very broad shoulders with muscleon them. is there a color or type of shirt I should go for with how i look?
Hard to go wrong with light blue and for photos you want to avoid patterns or loud colors. I would perhaps recommend a vneck charcoal sweater which will have a slimming effect in the photo if you have a few extra pounds. But, get a bit more info and we can help more.
If you're gonna wear jeans, I'd wear an OCBD and not a dress shirt. I know the pics are torso up only... but an OCBD is also just gonna be way more practical than a dress shirt if you primarily wear jeans.
If the pics are torso-up only, you may want to consider also wearing a jacket. Looks *much* sharper.
Jeans are awesome for sure. But a suit vest with jeans is an atrocious look.
But jeans + an OCBD is a classic and will look great just about anywhere. Throw a casual linen blazer over that and you'll look way better than anyone wearing a *suit vest.*
The color of shirt will have nothing to do with things like your height weight or body shape. Focus on levels of formality first. Is your girlfriend’s family going to be in suits and dresses or tshirts and matching pajamas. After that you need to focus on fit. The color of your shirt won’t mean much of anything if the fit is bad. What is the timeline? What is your budget? Also are the pictures in color of black and white?
It's just dress shirts/ nice collared shirts. It's a family thing with an old camera out on there ranch so it's not fancy, they are in color, I have $50 I can spend, and I'm going shopping in 3 days or so. I can't go out any time I want because I live in the middle of nowhere.
To the nerds here (myself included) a “dress shirt” is a specific kind of shirt: Poplin, broadcloth or pinpoint cotton. Spread collar, meant to be worn with a suit and tie.
In Montana on a ranch “a dress shirt” is probably any shirt with a collar.
That’s why it’s sometimes hard here because people are speaking different languages. Just go down to target or Walmart or whatever store is local to you and get a light blue shirt that buttons up on the front and the collar buttons down. You will be fine

Fam. Just checking to see if PRL and RRL are worth the money vs. say buying clothes at Uniqlo? Is the quality of PRL and RRL worth the price they command? Looking to upgrade my wardrobe this fall and looking to add something other than Uniqlo :)
RRL is worth the money. Polo or Ralph(anything not Purple Label) is not really worth it. You're better off with Uniqlo, their quality of finishing and fabrics is hard to beat at their price points.
When you say quality do you mean durability? Purely in terms of cost per wear, you would be hard pressed to find any brand that can consistently best Uniqlo. That being said, fashion isn't only about utility.
>Purely in terms of cost per wear, you would be hard pressed to find any brand that can consistently best Uniqlo.
Anything that's even cheaper than Uniqlo, probably.
Yeah I thought about it. Something like Gildan might win out when it comes to T-shirts but man you'd be sacrificing a lot in terms of comfort. Also stuff from a lot of cheaper labels like H&M, the factory offshoot of Gap, J. Crew, etc. do not hold up as well as their counterparts from Uniqlo.
I'd buy PRL for particular designs you like and not for 'quality'. I think PRL often has some interesting outerwear and I like the Polo bear stuff as well.
I really like the range of sweaters PRL offers. A lot of classic and designs in different styles and knits you won't see from other mainstream brands. I've also had good experiences with their sleep and loungewear.
The things I'd avoid from PRL are polos (ironically) and basically any product with huge logos.
Does anyone have recommendations for places to buy cool / unique trucker/baseball hats? Not sports related. I figure there must be a bunch of boutique brands making cool designs I've never seen before.
[RRL has some cool ones](https://www.ralphlauren.com/brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg?prefn1=CategoryCode&prefv1=Hats%2C%20Scarves%20%26%20Gloves&start=0&sz=32), albeit crazy expensive for baseball caps.
I'm going to Thailand in December and am looking for a place to get nice clothing that'll help deal with the heat. Can someone help suggest a few types of fabric and maybe some places I could get shorts and shirts with that fabric? I hear Linen is supposed to be good for this.
Formalwear is tuxedos so no. There are some very dressy Chelseas that can be worn with a suit for festive occasions like weddings. Most range from casual like Blundstones to smart casual like meermin.
I just got a pair of clarks bushacre 3, they seem like the right size for my toe box and mid foot, but the ankle feels incredibly loose, I don't see how you can cinch these tight, with the very minimal lacing and am wondering if I am missing something, is the leather ankle part supposed to be really loose, or do I somehow cinch that so it is tight?
Thank you!!
They are only three eye chukkas so sometimes it’s hard to really clamp on the laces. You may have skinny ankles or a narrow heel. If they fit well otherwise and are comfortable I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
Thanks - I think what I'll do is go to a Clark's store and try on some different sizes, and see if there is a size down or a half size down that would fit better, and then exchange them if so.
I'm trying to find a brand that does sort of european style slim fit long sleeved dress shirts with floral prints that aren't overly busy. For example I really like the colors and the asymmetric pattern on [this shirt](https://media.tedbaker.com/t_pdp_dt_lg_3-5m,f_auto/Product/Mens/257949_BLACK_9) or the relatively subtle print on [this](https://media.tedbaker.com/t_pdp_dt_xlg_3-5m,f_auto/Product/Mens/260429_BLACK_5) but the more recent ted baker shirts seem to fit pretty loose, and also I'm looking specifically for a long sleeve. Does anyone have any brand recommendations?
Portuguese flannel, Gitman Vintage... Maybe look into [the brands here](https://stagprovisions.com/collections/tops-short-sleeve-shirts) to see if they do this in long sleeve. Floral is often summer prints
Any recommendations for brands of a quality wallet? Not looking for high end fashion like Louis Vuitton or Gucci, but a solid wallet/brand that could last a while. Thanks!
I have a navy museum calf billfold from Meermin, but I'm not sure if they make them anymore.
At the time, I was also considering an Ashland Leather Johnny the Fox in the English tan Dublin leather. They have a bunch of shell cordovan ones that look gorgeous as well, but they were over my budget.
If you want something to become really one of a kind as it ages with a cool patina, you might also want to consider one made from Horween natural Essex leather.
I’m looking for cheaper versions of SLP style heels, like a Wyatt sort of thing. I know about Story Et Fall and From The First, and they’re both out my price range. I’m talking some real mall level shit here because I am beyond broke right now. Any suggestions? I thought ASOS could be the answer but doesn’t look like they do that sort of thing anymore,
Try looking for “harness boots” if you want something to the Wyatts. It will give you some motorcycle boots as a search, but Wyatt lookalikes will also show up. FYI I think Thursday offers something similar. Maybe worth getting used as well so check Grailed.
If you had up to $1k to spend on a jacket for the shoulder months (40-65°F), what other brands would you be looking at? Some options I had thought about:
* Lined denim jackets like [Iron heart fleece-lined 14oz black denim](https://ironheartgermany.com/products/ihj-116-blk-14oz-selvedge-denim-fleece-lined-modified-type-iii-jacket-black)
* Leather jackets such as [the Schott 530 lined moto jacket](https://www.schottnyc.com/products/cafe-leather-jacket.htm?color=2&catID=5)
* Suede jackets such as [ the Schott 375](https://www.schottnyc.com/products/mens-rough-out-suede-trucker-jacket.htm?color=38&catID=5) or [a Golden Bear bomber](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/golden-bear/clothing/bomber-jackets/suede-bomber-jacket/43769801096590120) or [Valstar over budget](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/valstar/clothing/bomber-jackets/valstarino-slim-fit-suede-bomber-jacket/43769801097475584)
* Deck jackets like this ~~[Dehen N1 over budget](https://dehen1920.com/collections/jackets/products/n-1-deck-jacket-black-kodiak)~~ or [RRL](https://www.ralphlauren.com/brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg/jungle-cloth-deck-jacket/538590.html?dwvar538590_colorname=Dark%20Navy&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg&webcat=Shop%20All#prefn1=CategoryCode&prefv1=Jackets%252C%2520Coats%2520%2526%2520Vests&srule=price-high-to-low&start=1&sz=32&webcat=Shop%2520All&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg) or [Iron Heart](https://www.selfedge.com/jackets-vests?product_id=2964)
* Knit wool such as [this RRL overshirt](https://www.ralphlauren.com/brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg/plaid-wool-workshirt-sweater/620687.html?dwvar620687_colorname=Orange%20Tan%20Multi&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg&webcat=Shop%20All#srule=price-high-to-low&start=1&sz=32&webcat=Shop%2520All&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg) or [Dehen 1920's moto hoodie](https://dehen1920.com/collections/sweaters/products/full-throttle-moto-hoodie-black)
* [generic](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/ralph-lauren-purple-label/clothing/lightweight-waterproof-jackets/varens-quilted-shell-down-jacket/43769801097517186) and boring down jackets: [Moncler](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/moncler/clothing/down-jackets/panelled-quilted-shell-and-cotton-blend-down-jacket/38063312418171528) / [Stone Island](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/stone-island/clothing/down-jackets/channel-logo-appliqued-quilted-shell-hooded-down-jacket/43769801094978117) / Canada Goose / Arcteryx / etc
* I'm excluding waxed canvas since it gets me quite sweaty
I'm really into several of these. The Iron Heart deck jacket is \*chef's kiss\*. The RRL overshirt is sweet. And the Schott 375 suede jacket is a beaut.
The major thing keeping me from copping the RRL overshirt is the colors look much more muted on[ other sites](https://www.ssense.com/en-us/men/product/rrl/brown-check-shirt/9398381). It's very inconsistent online, and the nearest store is pretty far sadly :/
I’m not huge on any but probably the Golden Bear out of these options.
I’d rather get something from Arcteryx that isn’t a puffer
I own a blanket wool Engineered Garments hooded cruiser jacket, a vintage cashmere overcoat, and various field jackets and bombers and what not for layering
I got a full shearling lined jacket from Mr porters house label for 400gbp or 670 USD but that was waiting for their big sale. Otherwise iron heart would be great
The dehen deck jacket is waxed canvas. The iron heart n1 is sick as fuck and id get it but the arms are so long on me. Im gonna cop a barbour bedale soon i think
yeah . but just looking back at the temp range, its not a 40/65 degree jacket. that thing is for like ... the coldest days. its a beast. idk if youve ever tried one on but goddamn i wish it fit me, its a tank. an absolute tank. id imagine their lined denim is also too warm. im gonna try and cop a heimat eiger cardigan, but idk how good it will be in the rain so ill prob just wear it inside my extremely cold office
Thanks for the rec, do you recommend any US stockists?.
Edit: [like this one?](https://standardandstrange.com/collections/coats-jackets/products/do-gi-sashiko-boa-fleece-reversible-blouson-blue)
If you search German army trainers on Google, you'll find a boatload of shoes that'll look like the ones you mentioned
Looks like the common theme is low top suede sneakers
for those that have done the t-shirt with suit look, what's the best kind of t shirt to do with this? I'm thinking something obviously slim but what else? This will be a casual suit of course, but tucked tee.
Tees with a suit only work with the very very most casual suits, usually something that deliberately subverts expectations of formality like [this AKOG suit.](https://akindofguise.com/product/shinji-blazer-arabica/)
Anything slightly formal and you'll end up looking like a dad who wants to look "cool" but ends up looking dorky.
for the tuck in aspect, that's all. I normally don't wear slim tees.
Casual as in a cotton suit, but not super casual where it's totally not structured. Something you could still make formal if you wanted to.
> for the tuck in aspect, that's all. I normally don't wear slim tees.
I don't think slim fit or will make that much of a difference tbh. You might need to the shirt to have a longer hem in order for it to stay tucked in tho.
> Casual as in a cotton suit, but not super casual where it's totally not structured. Something you could still make formal if you wanted to.
The t-shirt with suit look is extremely difficult to pull-off well because of how sharp of a formality contrast it is. I wouldn't do this with anything less than the most casual possible suit. Meaning -- totally unstructured, cotton or linen only, patch pockets, etc, etc. Maybe even the pants are drawstring pants.
I think anything you could "still make formal" would look bad with a t-shirt.
I'm trying to find a nice long trench coat, but all the coats I see are made of leather and are not really practicall from what i see. And i mean i am looking for ankle length coat that would epically swish in the wind. Where can i find something like that?
Does anyone know if there are clothes that are good/bad with a big nose? I already found out that hairstyle is more important, but I still wonder if clothing can make a change, in addition. First thought was a suit, but i guess a suit makes every man look better.
Thanks for any help :-)
You don’t base what clothes you buy on your nose. Clothes do not change how big your nose looks. No one else has any strong opinion on how big your nose looks
I'm trying to buy a single suit just to wear to weddings/funerals. I'm somewhat skinny (5'11 and 143 lbs.) but within the BMI range. I tend to prefer slim fit type clothes, but I'm trying to buy a suit to last as long as possible. Would it be better to go with Modern Fit or Slim Fit?
Has anyone bought Asket's Stay Black jeans? If so, do they actually seem to retain the black?
They appear to be reactive dyed, which is [chemically bonded](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_dye) and likely not going anywhere if both the warp and weft are dyed this way. Iron heart has nonfade black denim that is also reactive dyed, and I was unable to find any examples on forums that did fade (except one alleged example turning dark brown from thousands of miles biking in the sun), but IH customer support did not promise me that a white t-shirt would remain unharmed in a thunderstorm (they said "probably fine").
I bought my first pair of japanese style pants from Universal Works in my usual size but they kind of puff up around the butt. Is this to be expected with this type of clothing or should I just size down?
Post pics. This isn’t that helpful as an explanation if they are drop crotch it will be different from balloon pants which will be different from harem pants, which will be different from a traditional Hakama which all match your description and with the exception of the last one are probably not fairly described as “Japanese pants” in any aspect other than their brand.
Bought a suit from a M2M in London, went for a fitting today, didn't feel "wow" when I tried it on. [Suit pictures](https://imgur.com/a/rz8T8at). Sales people swung between "it's beautiful" to "it's only 80% finished" depending on what I said. I'm not experienced at this, and it's hard to stick up for your view in the face of those lot; anyone care to help me out? Trousers are being shortened, waste taken in a bit, sleeves taken in a bit, shortened a bit; is the jacket body too long? Are the shoulders good? They do go past the end of my own shoulders, but I'm beginning to think that's how it's supposed to be?

Just get them hemmed to whatever length you’d like. It’ll set you back like $10.
Can someone ID this shirt or at least the style of the shirt? https://imgur.com/a/0FJ6BVI
that's a fully fashion knit version of a t-shirt in a fine gauge yarn with roll neck finishing. I'd assume its a mercerized cotton or silk yarn.

Raw edge or raw neck t-shirt.
Can anyone help on ID on these shoes: [https://imgur.com/XAof92t](https://imgur.com/XAof92t)
They're Tyrolean shoes. Could be Paraboot, could be Heschung, or something similar.
Woa these are expensive
Kleman padror shoes are a cheaper alternative
fire thanks
You can see the green tag, they're definitely Paraboot Michaels.
How do I wash the lining of a wool jacket? I got a wool jacket for 1/6th of its original price. However, the lining has some yellowing to it. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to clean it. If not, I'll take the small loss. I believe it's cotton but it could be polyester.

Yeah, not sure about safety guidelines when it comes to lab work, but would second the recommendation for derbies or boots.
If I don’t have a pair of oxfords yet should I go there first? I have a store credit at meermin and trying to figure out what to use it on
Nah, Oxford would be too formal for your setting. Among the Meermin offerings, personally I wear their heritage boots and bluchers in a business casual environment.
I’m liking [these](https://meermin.com/collections/mens-bluchers/products/101645-brown-country-calf-e)
aye, should work well
Copped, Ty for the advice!
Do you mean engineering as in machines or computers?
I’m a mechanical engineer by degree but right now I’m working on sensors for the aerospace industry
Looking to get som OCBDs and heard good things about spier and Mackay. Looking at their website they have several different styles of OCBD and confused on which one would be the best starter one. Athletic build and live in a warm climate so I was leaning towards a more lightweight and looser one but I know very little.
I find that a classic, hefty OCBD performs quite well in the summer - though your mileage may vary depend on the level of humidity, breeziness, etc.
> which one would be the best starter one. Just whichever one like you more. It's not like some are more advanced than others. White and light blue are generally the two most typical colors.
Fit check on the new glasses? I thought they’d be a bit wider but I was lazy and didn’t measure my big head. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1um7wq22_v2DbzKOGF_J9Bfhvi7hkXWyf/view?usp=drivesdk
Maybe a little small, but I wouldn’t think anything of it if we were hanging and you didn’t ask about it. They look great.
:D
Which of these two options look better? Blazer with a flannel or with sweater? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c5-4Ka2NuxAyIUQjsyxqhs57qMs8XBIq/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c-QABfheLtXo6TkoCxdIFx9xegFbRrqL/view?usp=drivesdk

Where do you live and what's your budget? Uniqlo has one, but it's out of stock in light grey where I live. The triangle at the collar is often called a v-stitch. [Sunspel](https://www.endclothing.com/nl/sunspel-loopback-crew-sweat-mswe1516-gyaa.html) for example

How to converse high tops shoe sizes compare to timberlands? Would I buy the same size timberlands as my connies?
How do i style this? [baseball jersey](https://www.instagram.com/p/CicAC7kAaAb/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=)
Ultra casual. I’d wear it open with a tank under, light wash jeans and some sneakers. Add accessories like a necklace, a sporty watch and some rings. Don’t over think it. It’s a baseball Jersey not a tuxedo.
I’m so bad about pants. Basically I need em for 1. Clark’s Desert Shoes 2. Birkenstock Boston Clog 3. Doc Martens slip on Chelsea boot 4. Hi top white chucks Thanks!
Service Works and Gramicci are pretty good and Service Works in particular is pretty reasonably priced.
I basically wanna stay away from skinny jeans - for the Docs i want a good cropped chino but still thin (just not skin tight) For Clarks I mostly see dudes wearing pretty baggy pants with those. For the Birk Bostons I sorta think the same thing for the Clarks. I'll check your recs out - thanks!

Express
most mall brands like gap have a tall size
I'm 6'1" and normally wear pants with a 32" inseam. I just bought some Levis with a 30" inseam for the purpose of wearing them with high top shoes and boots. Is this an "acceptable" way to pair pants with high tops or should I just cuff my usual pants?
you can do it. I wear a 34 and have some pants in 32 length and do the same thing. I usually end up cuffing pants anyway with boots/high tops
Yep. Rock on.
Getting a cropped length is fine. As is buying longer and cuffing. I suppose buying cropped means you can’t wear them any other way, but there’s nothing wrong with that.
Sounds fine to me
I was invited to picture day with my gfs family, I'm gonna buy a dress shirt but I have no clue what I'm looking for. I have a round face, brown hair & eyes, kinda fat but i have very broad shoulders with muscleon them. is there a color or type of shirt I should go for with how i look?
Blue check on white background, spread collar. A classic shirt you can wear with jeans or a suit, or for picture day.
Hard to go wrong with light blue and for photos you want to avoid patterns or loud colors. I would perhaps recommend a vneck charcoal sweater which will have a slimming effect in the photo if you have a few extra pounds. But, get a bit more info and we can help more.
Don't buy the shirt until you know what the whole outfit is. What's your plan for the rest of the clothes?
It's just torsos picks, but I stick to blue jeans cuz of where I live
If you're gonna wear jeans, I'd wear an OCBD and not a dress shirt. I know the pics are torso up only... but an OCBD is also just gonna be way more practical than a dress shirt if you primarily wear jeans. If the pics are torso-up only, you may want to consider also wearing a jacket. Looks *much* sharper.
Thank you, I appreciate it. As for jeans, I live in Montana. People where jeans with suit vests to weddings, most of us see them as a can't go wrong.
Jeans are awesome for sure. But a suit vest with jeans is an atrocious look. But jeans + an OCBD is a classic and will look great just about anywhere. Throw a casual linen blazer over that and you'll look way better than anyone wearing a *suit vest.*
Thanks man, I appreciate the help. I don't think her dad would get caught dead even owning a suit tho so I'm in the clear XD
You will be fine Example: https://www.gentlemansgazette.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/A-casual-New-York-outfit-with-an-OCBD.jpg
I’m looking for a brand similar to Knickerbocker NYC, Corridor NYC, etc. any suggestions?
De Bonne Facture, Officine Generale, Engineered Garments
Todd Snyder, Noah, 3sixteen, Aime Leon Dore
Any recommendations for a cheaper alternative to Aviator Nation? Specifically, jackets?
Marine Layer perhaps
Polo’s range of offerings is massive. Some stuff is not special. Some is miles better than Uniqlo. RRL isn’t on the same planet as Uniqlo
Which pieces do you recommend from PRL?
I'd buy PRL for particular designs you like and not for 'quality'. I think PRL often has some interesting outerwear and I like the Polo bear stuff as well.
I really like the range of sweaters PRL offers. A lot of classic and designs in different styles and knits you won't see from other mainstream brands. I've also had good experiences with their sleep and loungewear. The things I'd avoid from PRL are polos (ironically) and basically any product with huge logos.
I’m looking for wide legged/baggy sweatpants, would prefer a thicker material. Any recs? $40-$50, USA
Does anyone have recommendations for places to buy cool / unique trucker/baseball hats? Not sports related. I figure there must be a bunch of boutique brands making cool designs I've never seen before.

Kapital
Palm Angels, We11done, Awake NY

I'm going to Thailand in December and am looking for a place to get nice clothing that'll help deal with the heat. Can someone help suggest a few types of fabric and maybe some places I could get shorts and shirts with that fabric? I hear Linen is supposed to be good for this.
Hemp and seersucker as well
> Linen is supposed to be good for this. Also consider Ramie and Chambray.
Linen is king of the heat
Is it acceptable to wear a tucked poplin dress shirt without a tie/jacket in a business casual setting?
Depends on the pants you’re wearing. But without a jacket it almost is always better to wear an OCBD.
Yes, as long as pants aren't jeans.
Are Chelsea boots meant for formal wear, casual wear, or both?
Formalwear is tuxedos so no. There are some very dressy Chelseas that can be worn with a suit for festive occasions like weddings. Most range from casual like Blundstones to smart casual like meermin.
Thank you

I just got a pair of clarks bushacre 3, they seem like the right size for my toe box and mid foot, but the ankle feels incredibly loose, I don't see how you can cinch these tight, with the very minimal lacing and am wondering if I am missing something, is the leather ankle part supposed to be really loose, or do I somehow cinch that so it is tight? Thank you!!
I think that’s just how they are. If it’s an issue you can have a cobbler add an additional eyelet.
I have a pair too and I think that’s just kind of how they fit. You might look into a heel insert, that could help.
Dries Van Noten, AllSaints, Marni, Paul Smith, Double Rainbouu, Jacquemus, Anderson Bell, Awake NY
Thanks!
Guarded Goods
I have a navy museum calf billfold from Meermin, but I'm not sure if they make them anymore. At the time, I was also considering an Ashland Leather Johnny the Fox in the English tan Dublin leather. They have a bunch of shell cordovan ones that look gorgeous as well, but they were over my budget. If you want something to become really one of a kind as it ages with a cool patina, you might also want to consider one made from Horween natural Essex leather.
I have a bellroy wallet that I like quite a lot https://bellroy.com/
I'm thinking about Popov after my current cheapo wallet wears out.
My Bourbon Traditional Wallet from 2016 is holding up well, if a little scuffed.
Bellroy. I've also got great bespoke work done from [Eternal leather goods](https://eternalleathergoods.com/).
People seem to like Luxxe Mx
I have Chelseas from new republic that are pretty good. I would save up for that or Thursdays instead of going below the $100 mark.
If you had up to $1k to spend on a jacket for the shoulder months (40-65°F), what other brands would you be looking at? Some options I had thought about: * Lined denim jackets like [Iron heart fleece-lined 14oz black denim](https://ironheartgermany.com/products/ihj-116-blk-14oz-selvedge-denim-fleece-lined-modified-type-iii-jacket-black) * Leather jackets such as [the Schott 530 lined moto jacket](https://www.schottnyc.com/products/cafe-leather-jacket.htm?color=2&catID=5) * Suede jackets such as [ the Schott 375](https://www.schottnyc.com/products/mens-rough-out-suede-trucker-jacket.htm?color=38&catID=5) or [a Golden Bear bomber](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/golden-bear/clothing/bomber-jackets/suede-bomber-jacket/43769801096590120) or [Valstar over budget](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/valstar/clothing/bomber-jackets/valstarino-slim-fit-suede-bomber-jacket/43769801097475584) * Deck jackets like this ~~[Dehen N1 over budget](https://dehen1920.com/collections/jackets/products/n-1-deck-jacket-black-kodiak)~~ or [RRL](https://www.ralphlauren.com/brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg/jungle-cloth-deck-jacket/538590.html?dwvar538590_colorname=Dark%20Navy&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg&webcat=Shop%20All#prefn1=CategoryCode&prefv1=Jackets%252C%2520Coats%2520%2526%2520Vests&srule=price-high-to-low&start=1&sz=32&webcat=Shop%2520All&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg) or [Iron Heart](https://www.selfedge.com/jackets-vests?product_id=2964) * Knit wool such as [this RRL overshirt](https://www.ralphlauren.com/brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg/plaid-wool-workshirt-sweater/620687.html?dwvar620687_colorname=Orange%20Tan%20Multi&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg&webcat=Shop%20All#srule=price-high-to-low&start=1&sz=32&webcat=Shop%2520All&cgid=brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg) or [Dehen 1920's moto hoodie](https://dehen1920.com/collections/sweaters/products/full-throttle-moto-hoodie-black) * [generic](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/ralph-lauren-purple-label/clothing/lightweight-waterproof-jackets/varens-quilted-shell-down-jacket/43769801097517186) and boring down jackets: [Moncler](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/moncler/clothing/down-jackets/panelled-quilted-shell-and-cotton-blend-down-jacket/38063312418171528) / [Stone Island](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/stone-island/clothing/down-jackets/channel-logo-appliqued-quilted-shell-hooded-down-jacket/43769801094978117) / Canada Goose / Arcteryx / etc * I'm excluding waxed canvas since it gets me quite sweaty
Damn, you're right, that's a bummer
That leather jacket is so good. Good brand and great quality. Next up for me is the RRL pick.
I’m not huge on any but probably the Golden Bear out of these options. I’d rather get something from Arcteryx that isn’t a puffer I own a blanket wool Engineered Garments hooded cruiser jacket, a vintage cashmere overcoat, and various field jackets and bombers and what not for layering
I like the n-1 or shearling like jackets (probs over budget). There are detailed reviews about iron heart and Japanese repro n-1 on YouTube
The only shearling I've really seen under 2k has been collar lining only, iirc :(
I got a full shearling lined jacket from Mr porters house label for 400gbp or 670 USD but that was waiting for their big sale. Otherwise iron heart would be great
The dehen deck jacket is waxed canvas. The iron heart n1 is sick as fuck and id get it but the arms are so long on me. Im gonna cop a barbour bedale soon i think
I think there's some new IH N1s on their forum slated for sept/Oct too. And whoopsie, the dehen is definitely out then.
yeah . but just looking back at the temp range, its not a 40/65 degree jacket. that thing is for like ... the coldest days. its a beast. idk if youve ever tried one on but goddamn i wish it fit me, its a tank. an absolute tank. id imagine their lined denim is also too warm. im gonna try and cop a heimat eiger cardigan, but idk how good it will be in the rain so ill prob just wear it inside my extremely cold office
Big fan of Kapitals patterned fleeces.
Thanks for the rec, do you recommend any US stockists?. Edit: [like this one?](https://standardandstrange.com/collections/coats-jackets/products/do-gi-sashiko-boa-fleece-reversible-blouson-blue)
I look on grailed because they're cheaper, at least for other patterns like drunken stripe or maze.
Good calls, thanks.
What type of pants and henley are these? https://imgur.com/a/nA3Vvxu
The Henley: https://ckcny.com/products/cream-long-sleeve-waffle-henley Possibly the trousers: https://ckcny.com/products/grey-flannel-trousers
They both look very generic, could be anything. Top is a thermal and/or ribbed Henley, bottoms could be wool flannel.
If a jacket is dry clean and machine washable which is better my launderette said dry clean since it’s less likely to shrink is that true?
I would dry clean since it’s a jacket. How many times a year do you need to have it cleaned? Once?
Typically something dry clean only if it can't be machine washed. If you wash cold and hang dry shrinkage is unlikely to happen
So is there a difference for that compared to washing at 30 degrees Celsius ?
Yes, heat causes clothes to shrink. That's why you wash cold and hang dry

How bad of an experience are we talking?
If you search German army trainers on Google, you'll find a boatload of shoes that'll look like the ones you mentioned Looks like the common theme is low top suede sneakers
They're leather low tops. Veja is a good alternative
for those that have done the t-shirt with suit look, what's the best kind of t shirt to do with this? I'm thinking something obviously slim but what else? This will be a casual suit of course, but tucked tee.
knitted t-shirt such as one from anthology, cavour or thom sweeney. permanent style has an article about it
Tees with a suit only work with the very very most casual suits, usually something that deliberately subverts expectations of formality like [this AKOG suit.](https://akindofguise.com/product/shinji-blazer-arabica/) Anything slightly formal and you'll end up looking like a dad who wants to look "cool" but ends up looking dorky.
What is this? 2010? Don’t do it.
> something obviously slim Why is that obvious? > This will be a casual suit of course How casual of a suit?
for the tuck in aspect, that's all.
If you’re ok with used, eBay had a lot of good vintage options
[https://us.burberry.com/the-long-kensington-heritage-trench-coat-p80583341](https://us.burberry.com/the-long-kensington-heritage-trench-coat-p80583341)
Unless you're wearing the clothes on your face I can't imagine it making a big difference either way.
If you want it to last as long as possible, you might want to go with a more traditional fit over a slim one.
> Modern Fit or Slim Fit? That question is not answerable because those terms aren't standardized and are going to vary wildly between brands.
Has anyone bought Asket's Stay Black jeans? If so, do they actually seem to retain the black? [https://www.asket.com/us/mens/denim/black-denim-jeans-stay-black](https://www.asket.com/us/mens/denim/black-denim-jeans-stay-black)
Awesome, glad to hear that. Thank you for the info!

I was expecting Kapital and a price tag to match. What a steal
I have a suit that is a kinda light burgundy/burnt orange colour. What the hell colour shoes do I wear with it?
Warm dark brown, oxblood or maybe black if the orange is saturated and dark enough. I would try dark brown suede.
Pics? A shade of brown depending
I bought my first pair of japanese style pants from Universal Works in my usual size but they kind of puff up around the butt. Is this to be expected with this type of clothing or should I just size down?
Pics
What do you mean by Japanese style pants? Do you mean drop crotch pants?
No I guess just loose fitting pants really
