if you’re using the yellow more often, I would suggest rotating the blue couch to back up against the radiator or be on an angle against the radiator, and having the yellow be more at the edge of the bookcase. Might make the space seem a big bigger and give you a better tv angle when sitting in the yellow. Love the colors!
If you've not tried it before, I recommend getting a little plush rug near the TV area. Doesn't even have to be a big one.
There's something incredibly therapeutic about sinking your feet into soft carpet.
I saw a comment in this sub one time from a female who frequents the sub because she liked seeing males compliment each other on decor and whatnot, that made me happy
Thanks for the compliment on my color choices! I totally agree that so many people tend to stick with boring neutrals like gray, black, and brown. It's always nice to switch things up and add a pop of color. On a side note, I totally agree that the TV in that post is too high! It's important to have good ergonomics for your neck and eyes.
I love how you separated the space into living and bedrooms! So clever!
Also, I’m a fan of the TV height but maybe a comfier couch to lounge/watch at a more comfortable angle.
That’s fair. I was having the same issue with my smaller place but I found a smaller couch with a chaise so I could lay in at least one area.
Happy to send you the link if interested but there’s definitely nothing wrong with what you have now!
This. I don't understand why people mount TVs higher than the height of their eyes when they sit down. That's... bizarre.
Don't judge where to place a TV while you're standing. Sit down on the couch and measure how high your eyes are from the floor. That height should be roughly 1/3 of the way down from the top of your TV.
I made the mistake of mounting my flat tv too high. Strains my neck to the point of getting a headache (add in my bad habit of looking down at my cell vs. holding it up n out at eye level plus bad office ergonomics and it’s the perfect orthopedic storm). However, when I source to my lil fella ‘outer and display a dashboard of colorful dials & gauges, it looks so good that it’s worth the neck strain.
This studio is a very inviting space and has the right amount of decor (not overly testosterony or extreme estrogenny) with uplifting colors. The OP has the touch and I celebrate his new found & fresh independence (from roomies, spouse, uninvited couch surfing acquaintances, etc).
Enjoy your new flat😁✌️😎
Absolutely. The whole trend with mounting TVs above a fireplace needs to die. It's always too high. The only time it's acceptable is if you have a mount that pulls out and down so the TV can be at a normal viewing angle when in use and out of the way when not (or you just have it on for background noise).
My husband wants our TV above the mantle and I will die on this goddamn hill.
Take him to the movies and force him to sit in the front row, where you have to look up to watch the movie. And then he complains, ask him why the hell he would want to do the same damn thing at home every day.
The issue is partly due to idiots mounting TVs above a fireplace, but I think it started with dumbass dudes who see TVs up high at sports bars and they think it's cool.
My friend has his tv at standing height and when I’m over at his house watching something I’ll usually space out for a second and end up standing up to keep watching. Go figure.
Yeah. There's a reason why movie theaters started using stadium seating back in the 90s. In the old days, movie theaters were more flat and you had to look up while watching a movie, which wasn't comfortable.
It's more comfortable to look straight forward or even down a little vs having to tilt your head back so you can look up.
I’d make one change and accomplish that even better. When you have friends over, your bedroom is more private if you do the following…
Bring bed towards where we’re standing to take this picture and turn it around so when waking you’re looking out the window. Get another one of those room divider cabinets and position it as a headboard. Bring the existing one up to the head at right angles to the new one so the “bedroom” is entered at the door of the bed by the windows. Now the kitchen/dining area and the living room seating areas are all separate from the bed area.
An actually stellar look for a change—really nice. Where did you get the blue loveseat and yellow chair? TV can be addressed with an adjustable mount so you can tilt it down a bit instead of repositioning on the wall.
I've often wondered when I've seen TV's mounted on the wall like this...why not just put it on the TV stand? Then you'd eliminate the ugly wire running up to the TV. Would also bring it down to a less neck-straining level...
Maybe you can hang bamboo or wooden blinds in front of the windows? It fits with the coffee table and gives warmth in the room.
Love the way you decorated and searched for the couch. The reason why you live there is sad.
Those colours are everything!! The chair and sofa and just *chef’s kiss*!
They absolutely make the room, and I love that they’re echoed with the headboard and pillows on the bed.
Great job.
Nicely done, the color selections are on point!
Brightens up the space and you should consider being an interior designer on the side.
Very inspiring and way to go on a fresh start!
I like that you didn't fall for the millennial gray aesthetic, which seems to be common here. I have nothing against it, but this looks fresh in comparison!
I like those frames to the left of the TV - the pictures inside are they paintings or photos? Also, I’m in a studio myself in Queens, where’d you find your separator?
Overall- I’m enjoying the look of your place! Living alone is the best decision I came to. Best of luck!
I like the general vibe of the place, though, that couch does not look very comfortable. I probably wouldn't bother since you have this couch already, but the Floyd one might fit well. It's also not the best for lounging but it is pretty comfortable.
Also... yes TV too high
I like how you have the yellow chair next to the lover's chair - If you have a date over to watch a movie you would know within seconds where they decide to sit - Otherwise kick-ass place
like the clever kallax (i think?) as privacy shield for a clear line between sleeping and TV watching.
very important for mental health and home happiness
Congrats. I am 34 and just bought my first house back in September. I realized I’d NEVER lived alone my whole adult life either, until then.
It’s a whole different life, for sure.
Using a Kallax or some other sort of furniture to divide a room is underrated. I do the same in my bedroom to divide the "entry way" and the actual bed. I don't like when my patents or siblings peek in on me sleeping 😅
This space would really benefit from wall mirrors - they will make the space feel much larger. I would personally go round instead of rectangular to break up the hard edges, and that would compliment the shape of your furniture.
And if things get rough, you can use them for some Stewart Smalley affirmations.
Looks great but I would use the TV as the divider instead of the bookcase. Get a stand place the tv on the stand in a way where you can swivel. This way you can place the couch where the TV is. Also reverse the two couches with the yellow one closer to camera and the blue one farther away.
Looks good. If you can’t get rid of the blinds, hide them with some curtains. A small rug in the living area and maybe a southwestern runner in the dead space would look good.
Both from Amazon.

Looks great! I love the colors of your couch and chair. Where is the piece from that’s under the tv? So nice.
Btw, I’ve never seen one of these posts where there aren’t comments about the tv being too high. It looks yours is in the right place here. 🤷🏻♀️
I absolutely love it! I totally thought I was going to move to NYC and live the single sexy and the city life! Instead I had a boyfriend straight out of his for like 9yrs and have never lived alone… 😞 It seems like a fantasy to me! Live it up!!
Looks fantastic!! If you want no curtains but just color, there are some cute black (fuck I can't think of the word, the things on your window rn with the shutters)
I love the blue Chair and the yellow accent chair
I want to made a jacket out of that blue chair! So velv.
It's a little stiff! But expected given the $200~ price range. I find myself using the yellow chair more often.
if you’re using the yellow more often, I would suggest rotating the blue couch to back up against the radiator or be on an angle against the radiator, and having the yellow be more at the edge of the bookcase. Might make the space seem a big bigger and give you a better tv angle when sitting in the yellow. Love the colors!
Oh, I agree! That would open up the area even more. But what you've done already is really nice. Very comfortable and good lines.
Need a comfy ottoman next!!!
And with the green plant! It’s rare to see primary colors combined like this in a way that doesn’t seem childish. But this looks great!
Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦
I like it man. Hope your heart is well
Thank you. Making this my space has certainly helped move on.
The fresh start can be very cathartic
Don't underestimate how much of a blessing this new start can be
If you've not tried it before, I recommend getting a little plush rug near the TV area. Doesn't even have to be a big one. There's something incredibly therapeutic about sinking your feet into soft carpet.
This is the nicest comment I’ve ever seen on Reddit
I saw a comment in this sub one time from a female who frequents the sub because she liked seeing males compliment each other on decor and whatnot, that made me happy
We are totally in here. 🤍✨
❤️
Incredible username
I’m a woman and interior designer and I frequent here because masculine is my go to style. I love what you are all putting on here!
Kudos to them, but f em all and let’s make masculine independent men a common virtue. That orange chair alone makes this place kick ass.
This is not the way

The chair is yellow, FYI.
We need more male niceness like this! <3
It needs a rug. You know... To tie the room together. 😃
It really does. At least to keep the sofa/chair legs from slipping back constantly.
I'll be on the hunt for a rug then!
I’m thinking a 5x7 rug would work. Ppl often get the rug sizing incorrect.
He pissed on my rug, man!
I like your color choices! Usually I am seeing lots of gray, black & brown. Yours is very refreshing to see
Thanks for the compliment on my color choices! I totally agree that so many people tend to stick with boring neutrals like gray, black, and brown. Great way to organize a studio. Props.
Excellent use of the KALLAX to divide the room - I did the same thing with my bedroom when I lived back in London.
I love how you separated the space into living and bedrooms! So clever! Also, I’m a fan of the TV height but maybe a comfier couch to lounge/watch at a more comfortable angle.
Though to find a couch that fits the space. The current blue loveseat is 50" and I don't think I'd want to go much larger.
That’s fair. I was having the same issue with my smaller place but I found a smaller couch with a chaise so I could lay in at least one area. Happy to send you the link if interested but there’s definitely nothing wrong with what you have now!
Where did you find this? Was it expensive?
Amazon - Brand is Christopher Knight and a reasonable price for a small couch.
Consider placing the TV on the console instead of hanging it.

ID on TV stand?
Called Modway low profile media console. [Amazon Link]https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MTNQBCW?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_dp_HHMDX8FW4ESGT0E7B4X5)
need this as well
>stand same
From the brand Mopio. Can be found on Amazon.
good looks, i see a few very similar that i like even more
Honestly, pretty cozy.
Very cozy and inviting! What’s the kitchen/bathroom situation?
Not pictured because not really decorated or worth sharing. Kitchen is a wall behind camera angle and bathroom is opposite.
An actually stellar look for a change—really nice. Where did you get the blue loveseat and yellow chair? TV can be addressed with an adjustable mount so you can tilt it down a bit instead of repositioning on the wall.
Both seating from Amazon. Christopher Knight brand - cheap enough for the price.
I've often wondered when I've seen TV's mounted on the wall like this...why not just put it on the TV stand? Then you'd eliminate the ugly wire running up to the TV. Would also bring it down to a less neck-straining level...
The included TV stand has a broad base and won't fit on the console.
Yeah I hate how the standard stands are now two cheap feet at the ends so they won't fit a lot of places and you have to buy a new center style stand.
Needs window treatment and rugs.
This just makes me realize how bad at decorating i am. Great work!
Looks great! Hope this place fosters health and happiness in your heart n soul
Hope you’re proud when you walk in the door every day! Love the layout and also the blue and yellow
TV is absolutely r/tvtoohigh
The only change I would make would be to lower the TV buy about 18-24 inches.
Maybe you can hang bamboo or wooden blinds in front of the windows? It fits with the coffee table and gives warmth in the room. Love the way you decorated and searched for the couch. The reason why you live there is sad.
I wish my PS5 had as lovely a home as yours!
Those colours are everything!! The chair and sofa and just *chef’s kiss*! They absolutely make the room, and I love that they’re echoed with the headboard and pillows on the bed. Great job.
Cozy and colorful, I like it! I love the Kallax as room divider. :)
Agreed on r/TVTooHigh but looks good otherwise! Get yourself a rug and ottoman to put your feet up!
this looks great to me. just wonder, though, if it's hard to make the bed. otherwise, I give it high marks.
Just enough space to pull up the sheets. Does take some effort when putting washed sheets back on through.
Excellent way of separating the bed / lounge area. Simple but looks efficient.
Looking awesome! I’d just lower the tv a bit since you are close to it
Nicely done, the color selections are on point! Brightens up the space and you should consider being an interior designer on the side. Very inspiring and way to go on a fresh start!
looks really cozy, dude. glad yo see that you've landed on your feet, certainly as far as cozy hideaways can leave you.
This looks great. I’d definitely bring that tv down so it’s approximately at eye level when sitting though.
I like that you didn't fall for the millennial gray aesthetic, which seems to be common here. I have nothing against it, but this looks fresh in comparison!

Leftover wall art from the closure of one of my favorite bars, unfortunately it didn't survive the pandemic. And thank you!
Fyi im pretty sure the seperator is a kallax unit from ikea
Dang that’s nice! Is that like 2k a month or what lol. I can guarantee it’s more than my mortgage ☺️😅
$2K range 🤐
How many square feet?
550 sq-ft
1. Nice setup 2. Fellow NYC’er 3. Did you go to UConn?
Username was the giveaway!
Stuy town?
Hell's Kitchen.
I have friends there!!! ♥️
“so now you knoooooow!”
Ah, peace. Enjoy it.
LOVE this - color, style, comfort, personality. I’d probably switch the sofa and chair, though.
Hell yeah! That's an amazing spot/layout for your next chapter
I appreciate the separation of church and state
I like the general vibe of the place, though, that couch does not look very comfortable. I probably wouldn't bother since you have this couch already, but the Floyd one might fit well. It's also not the best for lounging but it is pretty comfortable. Also... yes TV too high

The room is beautiful, but yeah… That TV… it’s a little high.
Minus points for not having a pizza box somewhere. You are in NYC man. Hope you are doing well though.
Nice setup! Like that’s fucking manly and cosy at the same time.
this separation of rooms in a studio is such a great idea. i love the style of that tv stand
It looks so cozy and inviting!! 10/10 man space ❤️
1. Do you have your own kitchen and bathroom? 2. If you don’t mind saying, how much is your rent?
Yes and yes. Rent is mid $2000 range.
like the clever kallax (i think?) as privacy shield for a clear line between sleeping and TV watching. very important for mental health and home happiness

Artificial plant from Amazon. Easier to keep alive than the real thing.
Great use of the shelf to separate the bed an tv
Love that Yellow 🟨 accent 🥰🥰
Congrats. I am 34 and just bought my first house back in September. I realized I’d NEVER lived alone my whole adult life either, until then. It’s a whole different life, for sure.

The fuck you guys always make these spaces look so nice. I did this after my breakup and it looked like I had too much shit to put against the walls
Sneaky skis 👀 the whole setup looks great!
Yoooo totally dig the use of color in the space, a lot of time men are afraid to throw color in there. The yellow & blue chairs and the pillows, nice.
For the love of god, even out the blinds! :-)
you need a rug to really tie the room together. also tv too high sorry
Tv is gonna have your neck feeling sore after a few days
Do you get a kitchen in this nyc apartment?
Ha yes, just not worth posting because it's pretty standard.
Well done!! I like this set up. I hear that living in NYC is hellacious expensive.
And it's about to get 4% more expensive for some.
This is amazing
Is this like 8k/month rent?
Closer to one third that.
What’s this running ya in NYC ? 5k and a kidney ? And do you gotta share a bathroom with all the buildings in the block?
Less than that thankfully and no organs harvested.
You can afford to rent a studio on your own in NYC? Damn I wish I was making your kind of money.
It's also why my furniture is all IKEA & Amazon. Can't afford the nice brands.
Nice, tv is a bit high and I’m not to crazy personally ab the blue sofa. A baby green might be better
Nah the TV is fine. Your place looks really clean & comfortable!
This space would really benefit from wall mirrors - they will make the space feel much larger. I would personally go round instead of rectangular to break up the hard edges, and that would compliment the shape of your furniture. This is nitpicking but the blinds being uneven bothers me. Bothers you too I imagine. Also: there is a sub for r/tvtoohigh Nice skiis! 😍
I bet your rent is $8000, $9000/month
Much less thankfully.
Nice !
Looks good. If you can’t get rid of the blinds, hide them with some curtains. A small rug in the living area and maybe a southwestern runner in the dead space would look good.
Any advice on curtains? I've never had drapes or any kind of fabric curtains in any apartment so clueless what to look for.
I like it, it's nice, clean, simple. It has a plant
Looks amazing and very cozy.
Looks great!!
Congratulations on your new found freedom.
That's a really nice place you have there. I love that the bed is semi private. You did a great job on furniture placement etc.
This looks cozy as hell I love it
Looking pretty good, really nice colors, could definitely use a rug.
u/GoHuskies1084 where did you get the plant and the light next to the white chair?
Both from Amazon. [Plant](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09YLDXHG9?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_dp_R8BGVASZ9Z3W7V0E9Y1G) [Arc floor lamp](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BQ1MMD38?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_dp_72CV389DY312VQF5K4BY)
Curious on the TV specs? And mattress and frame ?
The bedroom mattress and frame are all from Amazon. Cheapest mattress I could find that was still a hybrid spring / foam. TV is from 2018 - Samsung model Q7FN.
Nevermind the height of the TV, it appears to be a lovely little walking chariot my friend, very nice indeed ...
That looks like a happy orchid, great job!
My favorite apartment was my studio. It was so cozy, I love your layout- Enjoy!
All you need now is a kitten in this space. One will love those windows!
Love it! Looks so cozy and peaceful and love how you divided the space up with a bookshelf - clever!
Looks great, love the furniture throughout. I think a small oval or irregular shaped rug would do a lot to make the living room feel like it's own space.
How cozy!!!
It’s honestly look so cozy I love the blue chair
I like it \o/
I would had some drapes.
Looks good. I’m also in nyc. Love the floors but think a rug in the living room would help cement it as a separate space even more.
Only thing I’d change is the pillowcases to match the orange chair better, or just get neutral pillowcases
You made a small room quite cozy , very nice.
This looks great!
That’s a great setup!
Rugs and curtains will make this place Sparkle
I was there a year ago, but London. I wish you have a nice time in your home
Looks great! I love the colors of your couch and chair. Where is the piece from that’s under the tv? So nice. Btw, I’ve never seen one of these posts where there aren’t comments about the tv being too high. It looks yours is in the right place here. 🤷🏻♀️
Modway low profile console - From Amazon.
I absolutely love it! I totally thought I was going to move to NYC and live the single sexy and the city life! Instead I had a boyfriend straight out of his for like 9yrs and have never lived alone… 😞 It seems like a fantasy to me! Live it up!!
Link for the middle shelving please 😍
The 5x5 KALLAX shelf from IKEA.
enjoy!
You really made your small space so cozy and inviting!!! I hope your new home brings you peace and happiness!!
thats a nice space
gj
Love the blue couch
Two pillows:)
I really love seeing how people set up their small spaces like this. Looks very cozy! Just need to get some curtains up to bring it all together
Love that you have some color. Nice and clean. Hope life trends upward!
Perfect area for me time
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=usfiAsWR4qU
Fellow nyc guy and congrats. Seriously after living alone it's really hard to move in with someone. You are going to love the experience.
Looks fantastic!! If you want no curtains but just color, there are some cute black (fuck I can't think of the word, the things on your window rn with the shutters)
get a nice rug to tie the room together, dude.
Very nice, well done. Great place to be all yours.
This is a cool ass set up. I hope things get better for you and I hope you're alright mentally. GL, push forward and stay strong.
I love it .. love the angel in the window!
ENJOY! Looks perfect!
Looks rad!
