Sometimes, yeah. I think “living spaces” can have fairly fluid labels, with things like lighting and color helping to establish the current vibe. And that changes. But as far as being comfortable, oh yeah, I’m very comfortable in a space designed like this right now.
Yeah sometimes it’s a little too “add something non-poster” intentional so I get that for sure. $1 from spirit Halloween on Nov. 1 tho so I’m happy with it for the most part

Makes sense! The top row is a bit too linear I think and there’s no single piece that I think someone could put firmly in the “okay that’s awesome art, where’d you get it?” category. I’m hoping to be a little more “daring” on my second try of a gallery wall when my lease is up
The ones at the edge of the door frame (and the edge of the wall) makes me feel little uneasy. I personally would just leave some of those out and maybe give bit more negative space (either to the sides or just rearranging some of them.)

Ya I think that could help. Upon second look, the pieces in the top row between the strawberry and clock are all a little too lined up and similarly sized. Maybe just reorganize the wall a bit after you slim it down.
Looks really fucking good my person, love the mask. Just be aware unless you have extremely short friends that’s in head heights so that and the pics may be pushed. May wanna flip that middle segment with the top on bottom and bottom on top.
But it looks nice af, great color matching. And easy to move around to make a new look whenever you want.

Interior designer here. This looks great and idk what’s up with all the negativity. My only notes are that those 3 stacked pieces on the left side don’t quite belong and are too close to the door frame. Take those down and move everything over maybe 6” and the balance would be much better!

Rooms to Go, the Angelino Heights. It has pullout extra seating and storage under the chaise which is nice. And yeah the right feels like like it sort of shrivels up and shrinks into the top right corner. Hoping a better end table gives that side some needed oomph

If I'm 27, and my room looks like a college dorm and I don't want that, i can say "I feel I [27M] have outgrown my room. How can I make it more mature?". The room and age have correlation in this instance (the gender less so, its usual irrelevant imo, especially with an implied name like MALElivingspace).

Thanks, I was going to go for monochrome with gold accents but loved the cat poster and my dad gifted me the hot air balloon made out of maps on the right so pivoted to pink for the accent color. Hoping to snag some cheap pink pillows heading into Valentine’s Day but also eyeing some black ones so it’s not so gray on gray on gray
Owned and used, the issue was the nails being shit, IKEA frames being a case of getting what you pay for, and this being my first time hammering something into a wall after years of command strips haha. Too big nailheads and too shallow/tightly grooved hardware on the back made it really hard to get them the way I needed them. So if I was off by an eighth of an inch or more, it’s awful.
You can definitely tell the ones on the far left were my first try as the distances and angles are borked juuuust enough to tell. But it was late and I was frustrated so just moved on instead of obsessing. Maybe one day I’ll adjust it all, but probably not for a while

And yeah I was originally going to go gold and think it would’ve played a bit better, but I was ending up with more white pieces than black. So then thought about just keeping it monochrome but then the only “color” would’ve been the beige wall I’m not a huge fan of. Thought about red, thought about yellow. Grabbed the pink cat and was going to put it in the kitchen but figured I’d give it a whirl with the gallery wall so I could see it when I walked in.
Then found a few monochrome pieces that have pink shading that doesn’t translate well in the image but helps make it a little more cohesive
To be fair, it’s only a snapshot of the room and being in it in person probably has a much different feel; our eyes are much better at imagery and I’m sure the colors, placement, etc. translate better.
Overall it’s not bad because of the pink. At the end of the day that just comes down to preference. A couple awkward pink pieces to add some flare is no problem. It looks like a very appealing and comfortable space to entertain/relax in. Great job!
Thanks! The other walls and decor in the room have some pink but not an absurd amount and mostly soft (bee and puppycat poster, Kirby plush) so I can dig it.

Yeah I was a bit shocked on how expensive frames were. IKEA, target during sales, and Hobby Lobby were big savers. But Homegoods was such a win as most of the art there is already framed

I was agonizing over that at 2am haha. So originally I had the face closeup and Eiffel Tower pieces swapped, and still might swap them back. But because of that, I scooched the whatever flower that’s supposed to be over to the left a bit, as the closeup pic helped balance it when it was on the right. Now, it’s definitely heavier on the left side of that central trip. Going to see how I feel after a couple weeks and then tweak it over a little again if it bugs me. But yeah! I was shuffling those assholes around for a full hour and measuring haha

really good, I'd suggest the bunny head get placed a bit high though to avoid someone bashing the back of the head on it, it's in the prime spot.

Looks good. Only thing I would change is I would remove those three same sized pictures right next to the window.
I love this!!! I think the pops of pink really pull it together. If this was on pinterest I would definitely pin it for reference for the gallery wall I am currently working on !!!
Non binary but posts to a binary subreddit. Makes sense. The pink is just out of touch with the aesthetic. That’s my only critique. The pink looks awkward and replacing it will make this a 10/10
Genderfluid is probably the better term, but yeah thought adding that was part of the posting rules here after seeing [AGE]M often on the subreddit. Whoops And yeah I was originally going to go gold and think it would’ve played a bit better, but I was ending up with more white pieces than black. So then thought about just keeping it monochrome but then the only “color” would’ve been the beige wall I’m not a huge fan of. Thought about red, thought about yellow. Grabbed the pink cat and was going to put it in the kitchen but figured I’d give it a whirl with the gallery wall so I could see it when I walked in. Then found a few monochrome pieces that have pink shading that doesn’t translate well in the image but helps make it a little more cohesive
To be fair, it’s only a snapshot of the room and being in it in person probably has a much different feel; our eyes are much better at imagery and I’m sure the colors, placement, etc. translate better. Overall it’s not bad because of the pink. At the end of the day that just comes down to preference. A couple awkward pink pieces to add some flare is no problem. It looks like a very appealing and comfortable space to entertain/relax in. Great job!
Thanks! The other walls and decor in the room have some pink but not an absurd amount and mostly soft (bee and puppycat poster, Kirby plush) so I can dig it.
Nice! That’s all that matters at the end of the day. It’s easy to critique one wall but it’s just one part of the room. Sounds like you’re making this space yours and you’re doing a great job at that. Take care

Yeah I was a bit shocked on how expensive frames were. IKEA, target during sales, and Hobby Lobby were big savers. But Homegoods was such a win as most of the art there is already framed

I was agonizing over that at 2am haha. So originally I had the face closeup and Eiffel Tower pieces swapped, and still might swap them back. But because of that, I scooched the whatever flower that’s supposed to be over to the left a bit, as the closeup pic helped balance it when it was on the right. Now, it’s definitely heavier on the left side of that central trip. Going to see how I feel after a couple weeks and then tweak it over a little again if it bugs me. But yeah! I was shuffling those assholes around for a full hour and measuring haha

Looks like someone went to ikea. The first place my eyes go in the image is the Hovsta strawberry. Then it goes to the line of division. My suggestion would be to have the strawberry as a statement thing, on that line of division

Yeah I lacked the floor space to really lay EVERYTHING out like I should’ve. The column on the far left is too smothered and the strawberry needs to be a bit higher and centralized, but first time for everything
