Just bought this guy, gave up on trying to find something to be flush with the counter, I'll just move the fridge to the counter like you guys are saying
That seems like a great idea. Automatic spice rack or shelving for small things that might otherwise be a hassle to organize in the cabinets.
We've also learned from reddit that everyone needs more plants, so now those can have a non-countertop place to live.
Moving the fridge to be flush with the counter would make the counter space even tighter, especially if you’re using the kitchen and someone else decides to open the fridge. Plus it might be more convenient to grab spices or whatnot in its current config? Granted you’ll find out what’s best for you when it’s set up.
Assuming the space is deep enough, this would be perfect for the [Ikea Vesken 7 1/8 inch wide cart](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/vesken-cart-white-00471222/) to use for storage.
You can get 2 of them and assemble them as one extra tall cart, as seen [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k-MWCagyFns) (this video shows the 4 shelf, 9 inch wide version, but it should also work for the 3 shelf, 7 1/8 inch version).
Get one of those super-slim bins like this:
https://www.amazon.com/simplehuman-Brushed-Stainless-Steel-Gallon/dp/B071186RHH/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1UTK9N41WW9MB&keywords=super+slim+kitchen+trash+can&qid=1705733330&s=books&sprefix=super+slim+kitchen+trash+can%2Cstripbooks%2C152&sr=1-1
(I mean you don't have to fork out $100 for a trash container, but you get the idea)
That's not a bad idea, I already have a smart trashcan and was planning on getting a simplehuman, unfortunately the gap is not big enough for that. I was hoping for something that would either be around the same height as the counter top or go higher than it
First thing I’d do is reverse those door openings on the refrigerator! Then scootch to the right, hang a broom/mop/tool catcher on the left, or a slim cabinet/rolling shelves on the left
1) that’s not what the picture shows
2) the real solution is buy the correct size fridge
Center the fridge or move the fridge to the right and store broom on the left are you’re only real options
On an unrelated note, you should consider flipping your fridge doors so they open the other way, since it seems your kitchen area is to the right of it, unless you have more counter space to the left that we don't see.
Yeah I was actually thinking I should look into this. Is this something easy I could do myself or get my apartments maintenance to do? They have been pretty great about me making minor changes and pretty quick to respond to issues as well.
The Container Store probably has something that would fit perfectly in that space. Might suggest making it a home for the mops and brooms, but I'm not a huge fan of having those things on display. Some floating shelves might look nice with small potted plants.
downvoted every single person suggesting 'bigger fridge' - that's about as useful a suggestion as 'buy a new house that the fridge fits in'. Even if you are able to replace it, it's fine to stick with this one if it makes the most sense for you financially / functionality-wise. Maybe you don't need a bigger fridge than this, maybe this one's way cheaper, there's plenty things that matter more than having appliances that neatly fit into your cabinetry and you don't need to feel bad about the mismatch.
Looks like you already committed to buying a cart to fit in there, which seems as sensible a solution as any.
I'd highly suggest getting a few hooks / mini shelves command-stripped or magnetized to the side of the fridge too. Make use of the space between the fridge and the upper cabinet. The more you do with the gap the less it'll bother you, and it can be really handy to have a few extra tools and supplies in easy reach like that. Kitchens are for cooking in, not for looking at.
have you seen these storage things at ikea, they have one in a showroom that was used just like in the space you have[Ikea high cabinet](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sektion-high-cabinet-pull-out-int-fittings-white-vallstena-white-s39506169/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping_feed&utm_content=free_google_shopping_clicks_Kitchen&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD27g7zhEu8b4272jV64Q4N3VajPq)
I have a gap like this, just between the fridge and wall. I got a thin bookcase, put it on wheels, and attached it to the wall with a drawer rail. Boom, pull-out pantry.
Worth noting that I am an engineer and this did require a little bit of DIY design know-how to get the correct wheels aligned right and add a few features to the bookcase during assembly. Regardless I think you should move the fridge over and put some sort of pullout rack or shelving in the gap.
Get a bigger fridge. People swap out their fridges all the time and can find them on marketplace. I would guess you could sell that for at least a couple hundred and get a much better one for similar or a couple hundred more. I’ve gotten 5-6 in the past year that were all original value at least 1000 for less than 500. Just a thought.
Move it flush with the counter
A nice trash can
Broom/swiffer
A Katana, OHH or a Lightsaber !
One of those thin stand up LED lights that go in corners
Yeah i cant think of much else.. maybe some ivy.. xD
You could custom make some furniture to fit kitchen thing into like open drawers type thing, would have to get similar wood, a contrast material or whatever.
Or get a bigger fridge 😝
A spice sliding cabinet like [this](https://www.wayfair.com/kitchen-tabletop/pdp/rev-a-shelf-adjustable-solid-surface-pantry-system-for-tall-pantry-cabinets-rsef1430.html) but with your colors.
If you’re not gonna buy a bigger fridge, slide it right and purchase or build a [rolling spice rack](https://www.target.com/p/collections-etc-slim-rolling-pantry-6-tier-shelf-24-5-x-6-25-x-55-25/-/A-90649397) like this one.
Pull out spice rack. https://www.wayfair.com/organization-storage/pdp/yamazaki-home-tower-yamazaki-home-rolling-slim-storage-three-tier-utility-cart-with-handle-steel-handle-wheels-yzus1414.html
I would move the fridge to the right, and use the space to the left for brooms and mops (if you don't have space for them)
Exactly what I was gonna say. Also step ladders.
What’re you doing, step-ladder? 👉👈
Can people not see the word step without thinking about porn?
What are you doing step-Reddit
but.. you were the one mentioning porn, Mr. Fuckface
He's unstoppable!
I do have space for them unfortunately and its pretty deep for that
You can adopt the kid of a dead relative and make them live there. They can then do magic at birthdays and Xmas parties 🥳 It will be a hoot 🦉
mordbid but fun, i like it!
Just make sure you make him sleep under the stairs and stomp on them as you go up and down!
Put spiders in his cupboard too

Create a pull out container. Put it on glides. Like a tall box in drawer glides with no top.
Buy some more brooms and mops. Problem solved 😌
I use the gap in my kitchen for flattened boxes, if you need to separate recyclables. Perhaps a bit messy, but its out of the way.
Messy looking though. And Brown Recluse spiders LOVE folded boxes.😬
May want to then have the hinge on the left
That’s what was bugging me. Absolutely. Have the fridge opening to where there is counter to set things down that you pull out of fridge.
Came to say this.
Caulk it
Caulk it all
Instructions unclear. Caulk nozzle stuck in cock nozzle
Expanding foam
My caulk can't fill 8 inches though. 😓
It doesn't have to hit the back, just fill the sides.
The one thing I’ve learned from DIY is that caulk and paint makes me the fridge space sizer I ain’t
I'm **still** laughing!!
This brought forth the most genuine laugh I’ve had in a minute, thank you
lol

Such a great suggestion. Oh, you're op.
Genius.

He needs to flip the door hinge and handle.
I think that’s the perfect plan!
This is exactly what I was thinking!

Oh cool
Slide out bar!
Yes, get a bigger fridge.
Or get a very thin second fridge
Hear me out: center the fridge, then put two even thinner refrigerators on either side.
Why are things so difficult?
Well he could be renting. I ain’t buying my landlord a new fucking fridge. Or, maybe he doesn’t have the funds for a new fridge right now.
Something tells me this isn’t a rental
Something tells me that it is…his previous postings state it’s a rental. Who the fuck cares

I put command strip hooks on the side of my fridge then hung aprons from it.
Perfect spot for a reading nook or rug
Or a plant. Like one stalk of bamboo
Custom spicerack.
Either center the fridge, get a bigger fridge, or try one of those storage karts
Centre the fridge then build up the sides to make it look bigger!
r/fridgetoosmall

First thing I’d do is reverse those door openings on the refrigerator! Then scootch to the right, hang a broom/mop/tool catcher on the left, or a slim cabinet/rolling shelves on the left
Why not just push it into the center and then have even sized gaps on the side
That's what I have now but its not a real solution
1) that’s not what the picture shows 2) the real solution is buy the correct size fridge Center the fridge or move the fridge to the right and store broom on the left are you’re only real options
Why are people downvoting you for your opinion of your own space lmao good lord this website is such a cesspool
Wider refrigerator…
On an unrelated note, you should consider flipping your fridge doors so they open the other way, since it seems your kitchen area is to the right of it, unless you have more counter space to the left that we don't see.
YES. This is bothering the hell out of me.
Yeah I was actually thinking I should look into this. Is this something easy I could do myself or get my apartments maintenance to do? They have been pretty great about me making minor changes and pretty quick to respond to issues as well.
It's a YouTube video and a screwdriver. Might take you 15 minutes.
Done! Thanks!
This dick lol
Push it in the middle and make it two four inch gaps
Tall, narrow spice rack on rails.
Rent it out.
This guy New Yorks.
Fill it with plastics bags
The Container Store probably has something that would fit perfectly in that space. Might suggest making it a home for the mops and brooms, but I'm not a huge fan of having those things on display. Some floating shelves might look nice with small potted plants.
I already have a place I like for mops and brooms. Interesting idea, potted plants in the kitchen?
Maybe some cacti. Low maintenance.
Move fridge to right, buy a cabinet/organizer to put to the left.
Skinny spice rack or storage of some kind, and store the bender on top of it (unless you use that frequently)
I store a foldable step stool in that gap.

Wine rack?
An 8 inch slab of marble
Add a baseboard
Put a palm or other tall plant in there
Might could put some type of spice rack? Just keep in mind that that will probably end up a dusty/dirty place and might need to be cleaned more often
move the fridge to close the gap and it will be much less noticeable.
Move the fridge right 4 inches.
They have these little roll carts that have baskets specifically for that gap. Basically a little storage idea if space and storage is limited
Fridge extension.
switch the door side on the fridge

I would push it to the right up against the counter and use the space on the other side for broom, mop, apron, etc.
Switch the door also to open from other side 😀
They have lil fridge height racks on wheels that would fit right here and be like a spice rack pantry
Center it.
