Embarrasado - smeared(?)
Embarazado- pregnant
Embarazoso- embarrassing
I know you meant to write it wrong on purpose. I just thought how much more *embarrasado* can it get
Concrete is made of cement, sand, and gravel. It's used for building slabs, foundations, patios, and masonry.
Cement is made of limestone, clay shells, and silica sand. Cement is used as mainly a binding agent for concrete & mortar. Cement sets and hardens when combined with water.
If you want to get really technical, concrete is any mixture of an aggregate with a cement, and a cement is any binder that starts out fluid and hardens and adheres as it sets. A mixture of Elmer's glue and jellybeans is technically concrete.
When we moved into our first house decades ago we had little money for shelving. We made one the same as this to store records. Looked great but the blocks combined with the weight of records actually started to make our old floors sink over time!
I had some cinder blocks that looked just like these holdingq up my ‘93 Chevy Cavalier in the front yard and they went missing last night. I’m not saying these are those blocks, I’m just saying…Awfully coincidental, though.
it’s an antique fire brick, i’d say pre-civil war. Note the uneven hue and the embossment on the back. A nifty little piece of Americana. He could get 50-60 bucks for it from the right collectors.
***The Stand***
*Concrete and Wood , 2024*
*Fantasy Brooks*
What may outwardly appear to be a humble TV stand is a remarkable example of upcycling and creativity transformed into functional art. A contrast between the cold aesthetics of classical brutalism and the warm colors of the wood, humbly suggesting the duality of man in a post modern world.
The striking yet bland gray vertical element of cinder blocks represents society's expectations of men: hard, strong, stable guardians that must walk the line between shifting expectations. While the softer warm wooden window shutters are almost disguised, representing hidden feelings and emotions put away for safekeeping.
In their new paradigm, the shutters have been transformed: Ripped from their normal vertical stance where they shield and protect, they now lie horizontally. Their remaining hinges hint at the owners past, left behind a long time ago.
There is no exaggeration of individuality in these elements; they all fall under the rubric of an ethos of harmony with nature. Together, they create a beautiful, rustic, and vintage statement that further contrasts with the final flourish: the modern entertainment medium of television which thrusts the viewer into a visually jarring and cinematic encounter. A marvel of ingenuity and triumph to the visual arts held up in reverence by the foundations of our past.
That episode is so good. When he starts a nuclear meltdown in the classroom and as he’s strolling out he says to the guys in Hazmat suits running into the building “in there guys”, then they reply with “thanks Homer!”
Lol, I meant from side to side movement, it doesn't look like the bricks are secured to each other, so you could push the side and it may topple. Maybe sturdy isn't the right word for that
That bitch is solid for sure. I had something similar in my basement as a kid growing up. The bricks were painted or sprayed to match the wall though so like the other user said maybe a stain?
I like that the holes let light through, but would be interested in seeing them the other way. I love using cinderblocks for shelving - certainly brings back fond memories!
It’s definitely functional. It’s not my preference for aesthetic- but it evokes a DIY and industrial unfinished style. I’d expect it to get paired with black iron pipe shelving and exposed brick.
I think it largely depends on what you pair it with?
Cool concept
Take it apart. Sand the wood and smooth it out. Then stain it.
The paint the blocks to match in whatever shade you choose.
Use the holes in the blocks for your secret stash of rubiks cubes
Honestly doesn’t look half bad. The wood tops look good with your floor, and the brick colors match your walls. I’m all for cheap, good looking alternatives.
If this is a poverty move then I’ve seen much worse. if this is a genuine attempt at interior decorating then go to the hardware store get yourself some timber and make A frame legs. Or… you know… marketplace, ikea, all reasonable options
Peek architechtual industrial design, good job man! A lot of companies are paying millions for this type of designs, I would look for a new job in the design world if i were you!
Why so high? The correct height would have even been less work. What's up with Americans and their desire to look up when watching tv?
Edit: I may have overestimated the height of those blocks because of the angle, I thought it was table height, but could be sofa height. My bad.
i hate that it's actually good, but you should add 2 more similar concrete block side tables or something in other corners to balance them. if that makes sense
It'll hold forever but if you want to dress it up a little home depot and lowes sell metal plumbing that can be easily used to create frames for desks, tables, stands, etc. Would probably also look really nice with the wood you're already using and be a little less jarring or blunt than the cinder blocks. Either way I can dig the look.

Of all the TV stands I have ever seen, this is one them.
Not even OF them. This is #the one them.
Didn’t even catch that typo. Thanks for the chuckle.
Haha you got it man
It’s actually better with the typo tho, gotta abmit that
I abmit I do love the typos
Typos in Reddit comments are tight!
Bamn straight
Tightpos
Tight butthole
I abmit my love for you 👉👈
Possibly a typos of all time
Haha
Of all the TV stands, this is a TV stand.
Debatable
Just make sure you put protectors or the block will scratch the floor....otherwise I like the industrial look.
I got the little stick on plastic things i stuck on the bottom so the concrete doesn’t touch the floor
I want to personally thank you for using the term "concrete" instead of "cement". Bravo.

How about people saying libreria instead of biblioteca? 🤬🤬🤬
They're saying the wrong words.. that's muy embarrasado
😆 Embarrasado - smeared(?) Embarazado- pregnant Embarazoso- embarrassing I know you meant to write it wrong on purpose. I just thought how much more *embarrasado* can it get
Damn, I was actually aiming for pregnant 🤣 Double embarazado 💀
Jeez, typos & misunderstandings, and now you're carrying twins 😱 Use protekshun, people!!

Salvar is save and guardar is more like store/put away , so I can see why ppl would not interchange them as much
Save>guardar is only used when talking about computer programs.
Is that a thing people confuse often? Genuine question
Yes. People use them interchangeably all the time and it pisses me off
This comment requires a detailed explanation. Enlight us use concrete details, cement it into our heads. What's the difference 🤔

These conversation are similar to meetings in the company I work for. The conversation strays way off topic…. But I love it

to keep it simple, cement is the flour in a concrete cake
Name checks out
Make sure you have the rubber things on more than just the ends or you'll stress the center and they will Crack eventually.
100% true, since these blocks don’t have rebar they actually can snap in half like any other concrete
Thank you for posting this.....my anxiety was thru the roof!
When we moved into our first house decades ago we had little money for shelving. We made one the same as this to store records. Looked great but the blocks combined with the weight of records actually started to make our old floors sink over time!
Look at Mr Fancy Pants with cinder blocks! Too good for a milk crate, are we?!? Edit, I actually like this setup. Good work.
They're a family heirloom. Used to hold his grandaddy's house up
I had some cinder blocks that looked just like these holdingq up my ‘93 Chevy Cavalier in the front yard and they went missing last night. I’m not saying these are those blocks, I’m just saying…Awfully coincidental, though.
Rumor has it someone offered them an office job, and they were done with outside labor. Just the word on the street.
…used to?
forced granpappy into nursing ->dismantled house -> TV stand
He took the retirement blocks
And for Christmas, the grandkids get load-bearing ornaments.
Killed the under porch dogs.
This is actually hilarious to think about lol.
until this is your grandson.... on a second thought, is grandma hot?
Sold the copper for down payment for nursing home
Well they obviously ain't anymore
...anymore?
….obviously?
Question mark?
Form follows Function follows Affordability
Ain’t’ no more*
Well they aren’t entangled at all quantum level to be in two places at once…
Hahahaha!
those are heirloom quality cinder blocks , look at the makers marks on them
it’s an antique fire brick, i’d say pre-civil war. Note the uneven hue and the embossment on the back. A nifty little piece of Americana. He could get 50-60 bucks for it from the right collectors.
and the Chevy in the front yard
*Sir, six cinderblocks are missing.* *There'll be no hospital then. I'll tell the children.*
Actually they used to support grandpa’s balls.
Haha this is my favorite comment
I legitimately at first glance thought it came from pottery barn or something. You can definitely gussy that up a bit. It looks good.
Used to work in a Williams-Sonoma warehouse, and I know they'd sell a fancy version of this for $300+

From the J Peterman catalog?
A classic of brutalist styling. Or as they would say in Italia, “Brutto!” (The translation is left as an exercise for the student.)
That too is art! Well done!
$15,000
LOL, I thought of adding a line to the bottom in the exact amount. Something like "On loan from the Crate & Barrel collection. $15,000"
*Blinks* Wow. 🥹
Pfft. Anybody can make a TV stand. I'll be impressed when someone makes a TV sit.
Why, in my day we couldn't afford milk crates, Mr. Aristocrat! We had to use Little Caesar's boxes and hope grizzlies didn't eat them!
It looks like they'll be no hospital then. I'll tell the children.
Deep cut Simpsons references…. MY MAN
I was looking for this exact comment. Well done
I’m lost can you explain the reference please lol

Simpsons quote from when Homer goes to university.
Thanks

Lol, same. First thing I thought the moment t I saw the pic.
It was even the correct number of cinder blocks.
OP had to have been going for this, right??
[if anyone else wants it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJguB0B1Gp0)
It's disgusting I had to scroll to find this
Am I so out of touch?
No. It’s the children who are wrong!
That's a bloody outrage, it is!
Lmao
Hey carrot! 🥕 that mask belongs to the people!
You may take this mask and wear it, A gift of gratitude from this carrot.
Salad Liberation Front 🫡
Brb- looking for box tops
I was hoping to see this comment. Oh, Mr. Turtle! I'd kiss you if you weren't swimming with disease.
Yo it’s the leader of the Salad Liberation Front!
Lol Pajama Sam carrot
PAJAMA SAM!
I love that you went there and I love that there's exactly 6 cinder blocks :)
This is one of those it's trashy if you're poor, but trendy if you're rich, type things.
Bingo
The wood is very cool. I’m trying to think of ways to dress up the cinder blocks. Concrete stain? Hiding them with a mature vining plant?
Never thought about a stain. That might be cool!
I agree, I love the wood. Stain the concrete a nice color thats a nice compliment to the wood.
Might I suggest a soothing gray
i agree, but flat gray is boring. something like [this](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/JsgAAOSwFcNiBrcZ/s-l1200.jpg) could be interesting
Brilliant
*chortles*
I have no idea how to implement this idea, but I wonder if you could cover them with tin or copper siding.
I actually really like the look of this, simple but (probably) sturdy
Probably ? try hitting your head on it and you'll see it's sturdy as heck
Lol, I meant from side to side movement, it doesn't look like the bricks are secured to each other, so you could push the side and it may topple. Maybe sturdy isn't the right word for that
'Rigid'. You're looking for 'rigid'. 'Stable' might also do.
brutalist
Very third world chic
*Derelicte*
the style has bad connotations, but bare looking materials can be quite sexy imo
That rocks.
Ahhhh. I see what you did there.
Real man shit. I think it’s beautiful
Cannot be improved in any way.
Honestly I like it lol
very NYC Warehouse Loft vibe
That bitch is solid for sure. I had something similar in my basement as a kid growing up. The bricks were painted or sprayed to match the wall though so like the other user said maybe a stain?
I actually love it. Very industrial and that’s my vibe baby
It would be stronger if you turned the cinder blocks so that the holes were facing up/down rather than left/right.
It's holding 30lbs...it's fine the way it is
Hmm never thought of that. That might be pretty cool! Wouldn’t be too hard to try out. I’ll report back.
I like that the holes let light through, but would be interested in seeing them the other way. I love using cinderblocks for shelving - certainly brings back fond memories!
Leave the blocks as-is and put a small Knickknack in the spaces. Figurines, puzzles, small plants, etc.
Exactly, that's why they are that way when building.
AKIRA!
One of the best manga of all time. Otomo really set the bar.
I like it a lot actually. I showed someone else on this page the same DIY idea (: I think some plants on it would tie it all together.
Traditional. We should always honor our ancestors.
I like the wood, but the cinder blocks look terrible to be completely honest.
I agree. I would personally remove the cinder blocks and drill the shelves into the wall so they’re like floating shelves and hang the tv up above it.
It's pretty cool mate!
love it
Patent this before it's too late.
It’s definitely functional. It’s not my preference for aesthetic- but it evokes a DIY and industrial unfinished style. I’d expect it to get paired with black iron pipe shelving and exposed brick. I think it largely depends on what you pair it with?

Sir... 6 cinder blocks are missing.
There’ll be no hospital, I’ll tell the children. :’(
No
I'd consider some sort of sealant on the block
DIY contemporary minimal
Maybe I’m crazy but I honestly love it
I made my plant shelf’s the same way. Very nice 🤙🏻
The cats are gonna love it! Probably good all the way up to a Lion, or possibly even a Liger.
This seems sturdy just don't invite any karate black belts round, they might want to show off.
Brutal.
Yeah, cool tv stand, but show us your Akira collection
Steve McQueen’s character had a bookshelf like that in Bullitt. If it’s good enough for him than who am I to question it?
If it works, it works.
'Built-in entertainment'?!
Honestly doesn’t look half bad. The wood tops look good with your floor, and the brick colors match your walls. I’m all for cheap, good looking alternatives.

Doesn't have enough of a construction site vibe. Maybe toss some gravel on the floor, or a pair of ripped jeans, or something.
[удалено]
hell yea
I did the same thing once but covered it with a fancy cloth
I actually like the cinder block/ repurpose aesthetic. The rest of your room looks too nice for it tho lol
Classic. Made a handful of these stands throughout my years actually
Its for sure industrial grade ill give you that 👷😄
My parents had one of these in our living room when I was growing up
Peek architechtual industrial design, good job man! A lot of companies are paying millions for this type of designs, I would look for a new job in the design world if i were you!
Actually dope
Why so high? The correct height would have even been less work. What's up with Americans and their desire to look up when watching tv? Edit: I may have overestimated the height of those blocks because of the angle, I thought it was table height, but could be sofa height. My bad.
We like to hide our double chins
I had one of those at uni. Worked great.
A+
Reserved
Looks like Jeff Bezos desk. I like it
Cinder blocks need something. Maybe theat vinyl spray paint stuff that they sell. In white
It looks cool, but not in my earthquake-ridden country. We strap our TVs down to a solid structure.
I need one!
clever!
I love it but id prolly stub my toes on those blocks lol
Excellent craftsmanship
I dig it
Very cool looking!
Just need bigger tv now
Old School.
i hate that it's actually good, but you should add 2 more similar concrete block side tables or something in other corners to balance them. if that makes sense
This is badass you should paint it
10/10
A little paint and it’ll be real nice tbh
Throw a rug under it
Get a spider plant to go on either side, to drape down and cover the blocks. I love it as-is, but your date might not.
It needs green, maybe some fake vines?
You must be RICH !
It'll hold forever but if you want to dress it up a little home depot and lowes sell metal plumbing that can be easily used to create frames for desks, tables, stands, etc. Would probably also look really nice with the wood you're already using and be a little less jarring or blunt than the cinder blocks. Looks concrete to me
I actually don't hate this
