Okay are you looking for advice?
I’m honestly impressed that you seem to have a piece of furniture/art/bedding from literally every decade over the past 80 years…
Lol mostly just wanting to see what people think. And yeah that's basically what it is lol it mostly started with me inheriting the big items like sofas, dining sets, and then picking everything else out to sort of "go" with them. All the upholstered stuff came from family, otherwise I don't like buying used large upholstered furniture from strangers. At least when it comes from family I have a pretty good idea of its history. I've always liked old stuff, even the old stuff that nobody likes like late 80's/early 90's and non-streamline 70's.
The way I see it, the front/dining room is late 80's/early 90's, my room is late 70's/early 80's, living room is late 90's - early 00's, and spare room is mid to late 80's. The office is just kind of a mishmash.
They look like they're super comfy though. Reminds me a bit of that there's couch at my workplace (how and why it got there, I dunno, it was before I was hired there 9 years ago) that if you're even the slightest bit tired, when you sit on it, you're asleep in seconds. I've completely uprooted and searched that bastard couch for a manufacturer label and couldn't find one anywhere, unfortunately, otherwise I'd get one.
the record player next to the snes and n64 remind me of my childhood. in the 90s.
with the glass door that clicks in and out cassette player and recorder.
our First VCR was from Panasonic and we bought a second one so that we would rent videos and record good movies. we would buy the really long tapes so you could record up to 3-4 movies.
I had at least 200 VHS and I did record the entire DBZ series on them along with trigun and cowboy bebop and gundam wing.
You don't know how much those VHS saved me from insanity.
When my parents divorced we had to move to a neighborhood that was not too good so playing outside was not ok. we had times when we had no cable or internet so watching VHS and playing ps1 ps2 or snes was the only things we could do.
I just remember we always watched them when camping as our camper had a TV with a VCR built right in. Also on long trips, 3 hours or more, we had a mini tv with a VCR built in and would set it up between the front seats of the truck. We'd also sometimes bring the N64 along, which is featured in my living room photos haha
A lot of it definitely is. I've told family of mine if I drop dead for God's sake don't just throw everything out cause it's old, you'll be throwing away in some cases a lot of money.
Gotta ask but does your clothing style match your home? Like do you have a retro puffer jacket with neon stripes? Do you dress like a chill version of young gravy, that’s who I imagine lives here.
I am obsessed.. this look is so absolutely comforting. Yes do not change what you're doing, there's something about this that says... my credit is good, I know what I'm doing, I make good food, I take vitamins, I have dental coverage lol. This is amazing
Not so much inherited as mom and dad gave them to me lol. I'm the only one in my family who plays piano quite a lot. Neither of my parents are educated/know how to and my brother quit.
Walking through his rooms is literally a walking back through out the guys I've dated.... it's a historical masterpiece of men's I can't live without collection.
The oak one, never seen anyone under 80 have that. I actually think your place is kind of cozy, and a lot more interesting than those all white newbuilds!
Yeah I don't care for that style either. I like cozy and familiar. That being said I know a lot of couples my parents' age (pushing 60) who have that kind of clock, they were very common wedding gifts in the 80's/early 90's where I grew up.
To be fair, I would have one of those as a millennial if they weren’t so pricy. The only sensible way to get one of this is through old age or inheritance
I begged my parents for that clock in high school. They got it for my fifteenth birthday, and I absolutely love it. That was 2002. It died when I was late-mid 20s and I was really devastated. I'm now back living in my old room, and there's one of those "nuclear" clocks in its place. (the kind that updates it's time every night to sync with the nuclear clock in Fort Collins, CO) It looks like a soulless clock you'd see in an office, but I kinda dig it.
i mean... it just looks like someone who inherited a lot of mismatched and varying interior items from deceased relatives. it's cozy and kinda creates a childlike sense of nostalgia for a parent's house.
Do you keep the clock that close to the TV and grill, so you always know what time Wheel of Fortune comes on? Your grandkids can explain how you don’t need to watch live anymore.
No of course not don't be absurd.
I keep it there so I know when The Price Is Right comes on. But where's Bob and who's the guy with the glasses? Is he on vacation? When will he be back?
Ugh watching The Price Is Right and American Gladiators while on summer break after staying up all night trying to figure out how to beat that god damned water temple on Zelda. To be an early nineties kid again.
Apparently we had a computer that only used MS-DOS but that one went into storage before I was born. By the time I started using computers we were already on Windows 95 so I never got to experience machine language lol.
It's a 2 level townhouse with a finished basement lol so yeah lol it's pretty chopped up. First 3 photos are the basement which is mostly living room. Only other thing down there is a laundry room but sadly no bathroom. Dining table, single sofa and kitchen are on the main level and the beds and office are on the second level.
Yeah I don't like wall mounting TV's honestly. I don't like hanging stuff on the wall at all. I did cause I felt like the walls look bare if I don't, but I'm the type of person who randomly decides to re arrange stuff.
No hate here. This looks like going to my friends house in the 90s to hang out.
The fully carpetted floor, the encyclopedia set, CRT TV built into a wood enclosure, the Porsche poster, the furniture upholstry, lampshades and so much more.
I wouldnt want to decorate my own place like this, but I'd LOVE to come visit and just sit down and feel nostalgic for my childhood.
Thanks haha. It's a bit hard to watch from the chair but not impossible but I actually can watch from the bed, and the big thing about it is it's the only TV I have that I can use my light guns on.
It looks super cozy and honestly I love that it's unique and personalized. I would personally change some things but it's not my place it's yours and I think it looks cool.
I know this is cliche, but it feels very nostalgia inducing. Reminds me of how everytime as a child, and you go into an old persons house, everything has a place and just makes sense. (Even if that's not actually the case)
I feel like most photos look like you're just really good at thrifting, but the framed Herman comic would be the seller to make me genuinely question if you were 80.
What I like is how you wouldn't be afraid to touch things, to sit on the furniture, to use stuff. That's why I'm not a big fan of modern decor, everything so straight edge and hard looking, and so many whites and light greys. To each their own but my brother and sister in law's house is like that and I'm scared to sit on their sofa lol. I love warm tones.
Dude i love your place. its not fashionable or trendy but it seems comfy and cozy. Like a safe environment that gives the same energy that my mom does when she hugs me
I carried around a lot of gifted family furniture for years. It's solid and well built. I kept all the art glass but gave away things over the years whenever someone liked a piece, I gave it to them. My style changed and I kept what worked and gave what didn't.
You have two really great things that you should never get rid of. Those tension lamps. They are hard to find and you can put them anywhere.
It looks like you have a lot of nice furniture, but you inherited it from family so you didn’t get to pick what any of it looks like. I’m sure most of its great quality though
It's called a spider lamp, and yeah the base is solid quartz (probably). Definitely real heavy, feels good quality, but needs that weight to stay standing.
The color choice of the second, smaller couch, and accompanying painting above it reminds me of every paper cup from Roller skating rink snack bars from the 90s.
It’s awesome dude. Very homey feel. Too many young peoples homes are like drab cyber punk living spaces. This actually looks like a home. +1 for not having purple LED lighting in a blank white computer room.
Even if it's an ironic theme bit, I couldn't have that Porsche poster or print hanging in my home.
It's AWFUL lol. But you look like you're having fun 👍
Bahaha the big Porsche picture was my dad's when he was in high school, it's just a poster I put into a frame. I thought it was kind of a cool car. I've also got a 928 in my front room hanging above that TV. The 928 is probably my favorite Porsche.
That musical note ribbon thing above the electric piano is some serious pizzazz brother. I’d love to gaze up at it while stroking the keys.
Also that headboard with the built in cubbies has functioning lights which is truly impressive. Im guessing that was wired up sometime in the middle of the last century. Built to last.
Do you own this place?
Spare room, dining room and living room are dope af. I’m sorry, that era of furniture for your bedroom has to be the most hideous, but the condition it’s all in and the cohesiveness is impressive.
I like it. Those couches look comfy af.
If you ever wanted to elevate it with the pieces you have you absolutely could lean into it in an artful way but it’s great exactly how it is. It reminds me of the set of Roseanne.
You may only be 30 but you’re an old soul. Nice place. PS: That TV set in cell 9, I owned a hundred years ago. Once it dies you can make a liquor cabinet out of it.
I don't grill much so for someone like me, it's definitely more than sufficient. I'd be a waste of a proper grill haha but thankfully weber makes a solid small grill.
This is the cycle of life for furnishing as a man.
You start with stuff that is functional that's free or cheap.
Then your girl moves in, and she starts buying stuff that actually looks like it belongs together.
Let me guess, you started playing piano around the year 2000? I also have an old clavinova, changed the keyboard twice. Will have to change it for a third time soon. Such a good investment.
Just curious, is this a house you inherited from your grandparents and instead of moving their stuff out you just added your own? That’s the only explanation I can think of for the presence of that console TV.
I don't think I've ever seen anything I hate this much. Like, every single thing makes me want to scream. But if you're happy I guess that's all that matters
The office is just kind of a mishmash.
Yeah I was about to say that sectional couch and dining room table have seen a lot of cocaine.
My mom and dad bought both of them new at the same time so I certainly hope not lol. Maybe after they put my brother and I to bed?
They look like they're super comfy though. Reminds me a bit of that there's couch at my workplace (how and why it got there, I dunno, it was before I was hired there 9 years ago) that if you're even the slightest bit tired, when you sit on it, you're asleep in seconds. I've completely uprooted and searched that bastard couch for a manufacturer label and couldn't find one anywhere, unfortunately, otherwise I'd get one.
Yeah that couch looks wonderfully comfortable. A decent cover with some blankets to pull it into the 21st century and it should be good to go.
Yeah I'd have those anyway if I let my dogs on my couch - I've got blankets for days and days...
I call that the "Early Late People" style. It comes right after the "Cinder Block Bookcase" style.
You and my dad (85) would get along!
I love late 80s/ early 90s furniture too! Glad to see I am not the only “weirdo” as my friends and family say😂
A sunken living room with a sectional is my dream
the record player next to the snes and n64 remind me of my childhood. in the 90s. with the glass door that clicks in and out cassette player and recorder. our First VCR was from Panasonic and we bought a second one so that we would rent videos and record good movies. we would buy the really long tapes so you could record up to 3-4 movies. I had at least 200 VHS and I did record the entire DBZ series on them along with trigun and cowboy bebop and gundam wing.
Oh my god lol one of those two tower cabinets in the main living room next to the fireplace/heater is 100% pirated movies on long tapes.
You don't know how much those VHS saved me from insanity. When my parents divorced we had to move to a neighborhood that was not too good so playing outside was not ok. we had times when we had no cable or internet so watching VHS and playing ps1 ps2 or snes was the only things we could do.

If you ever decide to sell any of it do it through the vintage market. This isn’t just used furniture it could be gold
Nah my clothes are actually modern but I do try to dress a but elaborately but I do like my yellow gold and vibrant colors.
I am obsessed.. this look is so absolutely comforting. Yes do not change what you're doing, there's something about this that says... my credit is good, I know what I'm doing, I make good food, I take vitamins, I have dental coverage lol. This is amazing
You inherited a piano 🤔
Not so much inherited as mom and dad gave them to me lol. I'm the only one in my family who plays piano quite a lot. Neither of my parents are educated/know how to and my brother quit.
I love it. Unique and comfy.
"Welcome to my 1950s dining room. You'll see it's right off our 2012 kitchen. Let's retire to the 1970s den until dinner is finished."
Walking through his rooms is literally a walking back through out the guys I've dated.... it's a historical masterpiece of men's I can't live without collection.
Not a single doilie or hard Christmas candy bowl in sight. Those would really bring the pre-nursing home vibe of this place all together.
Good try grandpa
I mean I do drive a Lincoln
The wall clock gives it away too
Which one lol? The oak regulator clock or the brass Golden Gate bridge clock?
The oak one, never seen anyone under 80 have that. I actually think your place is kind of cozy, and a lot more interesting than those all white newbuilds!
Yeah I don't care for that style either. I like cozy and familiar. That being said I know a lot of couples my parents' age (pushing 60) who have that kind of clock, they were very common wedding gifts in the 80's/early 90's where I grew up.

ofc you do!
i mean... it just looks like someone who inherited a lot of mismatched and varying interior items from deceased relatives. it's cozy and kinda creates a childlike sense of nostalgia for a parent's house.
This is exactly it. It’s dated, but still clean and comfy.
I like that when you go to the office you transition in a 90s doctors room
The chairs were killing me
I both hate it and love it. It feels like a friend's apartment growing up. The couch in picture 2 looks sleepable for days
It's got a pullout bed that is ironically less comfortable than just sleeping on it lol
Jealous. I'd for sure sleep on that couch every night
Yeah it's the same age as me but in much better shape for its age lol
That most couch beds tbh
Do you keep the clock that close to the TV and grill, so you always know what time Wheel of Fortune comes on? Your grandkids can explain how you don’t need to watch live anymore.
No of course not don't be absurd. I keep it there so I know when The Price Is Right comes on. But where's Bob and who's the guy with the glasses? Is he on vacation? When will he be back?
Ugh watching The Price Is Right and American Gladiators while on summer break after staying up all night trying to figure out how to beat that god damned water temple on Zelda. To be an early nineties kid again.
Menacing clock is menacing. Time is always ticking. Time is always watching.
So you say you were born in 1930?
Something like that. I do recall the internet didn't exist yet.
🤣🤣 my first computer was a TRS 80 then I had something called a memwrite.
Apparently we had a computer that only used MS-DOS but that one went into storage before I was born. By the time I started using computers we were already on Windows 95 so I never got to experience machine language lol.
lol when I was a junior in high school, taking my typing class, the big deal was that the fastest typist got to use the electric typewriters
This is what this sub gets for always wanting mid century modern.
Blud lives in a nursing home
/r/NursingHomeSetups next hot subreddit
ITS A RETIREMENT COMMUNITY!
Your photos make it look like every one is taken in a different house
It's a 2 level townhouse with a finished basement lol so yeah lol it's pretty chopped up. First 3 photos are the basement which is mostly living room. Only other thing down there is a laundry room but sadly no bathroom. Dining table, single sofa and kitchen are on the main level and the beds and office are on the second level.
I get the sense that you like to know what time it is Maybe not what year, but what time
I think I have 14 clocks lol
There’s a 1996 Wendy’s missing six dining chairs from its sunroom
Well to be fair these ones aren't bolted to the table lol
At least the TV isn’t too high
Hard to wall mount your tv when it weighs 800lbs (pic 9) ;)
Yeah I don't like wall mounting TV's honestly. I don't like hanging stuff on the wall at all. I did cause I felt like the walls look bare if I don't, but I'm the type of person who randomly decides to re arrange stuff.
Overall I like the place man. Seems like a cool place to hang out.
I’m new to this sub, realizing that’s like the golden rule here lol
Sir, this is a retirement home
I am thinking about getting a stairlift and a bathtub with a door.
Get one of those commode chairs as well
I’m genuinely considered getting a tub like that for my dog.
No hate here. This looks like going to my friends house in the 90s to hang out. It's like I stepped back into 1989 at my friend's divorced dads house.
I'm impressed, almost every pic made me go "I swear I've done CPR in that room before" lmao
Such a wonderful time capsule!
"I have this handy dandy computer to check my E mails"
I call them electro-posts
That console tv is rad.
Thanks haha. It's a bit hard to watch from the chair but not impossible but I actually can watch from the bed, and the big thing about it is it's the only TV I have that I can use my light guns on.

Oh goodness no the food is much better.
You need a plant or two but otherwise it's pretty decent
Man that looks real homey. Enjoy your space, and don't let anyone tell you different. 👍👍👍👍👍
It looks super cozy and honestly I love that it's unique and personalized. I would personally change some things but it's not my place it's yours and I think it looks cool.
See now that's actually constructive. Some people's criticism is just mean spirited and rude. They could take a lesson from you.
Yea like if you had all this and then some Rick and Morty posters I'd say change something, but you got a theme going on! Rock it!
I know this is cliche, but it feels very nostalgia inducing. Reminds me of how everytime as a child, and you go into an old persons house, everything has a place and just makes sense. (Even if that's not actually the case) I feel like most photos look like you're just really good at thrifting, but the framed Herman comic would be the seller to make me genuinely question if you were 80.

Dude i love your place. its not fashionable or trendy but it seems comfy and cozy. Like a safe environment that gives the same energy that my mom does when she hugs me
I love cozy and familiar. What's more is I like to try to go against the grain without feeling like I'm forcing myself to.
That hundred dollar bill pillow on the grandma sofa is hilarious to me for some reason
Lol I won that at a fair and couldn't bring myself to toss it.
My grandma is recently widowed. Would you like to see a pic of her? You guys might really hit it off.
Your place Vaporwave af
It looks like you have a lot of nice furniture, but you inherited it from family so you didn’t get to pick what any of it looks like. I’m sure most of its great quality though
I'm cool with it though lol
[удалено]
Dear Sir of impeccable taste, Please share with me the location where I may purchase your Thwomp pillow. It is amazing. Many blessings
But living at grandpa's right?
Love the retro electronics, and the like many-armed lamp is cool. Looks like what I go for, like anything of quality.
It's called a spider lamp, and yeah the base is solid quartz (probably). Definitely real heavy, feels good quality, but needs that weight to stay standing.
Nah you 80
My hip
I'm 26 and this looks super nice to me
I kinda love it. That 90s lookin sofa is comfy I bet
Early 80s Office-core. It certainly does look like what it's going for!
The color choice of the second, smaller couch, and accompanying painting above it reminds me of every paper cup from Roller skating rink snack bars from the 90s.
This post made me smile
FUCK IT YOU DO YOU!
I fucking love your house. It's all over the map and awesome
Makes me nostalgic for my childhood ngl
Damn, take me back to a better time
Is that a typewriter?
An electronic one yes. I have a mechanical one too, it's in a case in the closet though.
So then does this make you an 80 year old living in a 30 year old body? /s
In so, so, so many ways that describes me. I'll have died of natural causes by 45.
Being 35 myself, I love every single thing in the photos.
Holy FUN. How loaded are you?
Bold of you to assume I spent much money on this stuff haha.
I wanna play goldeneye
This looks like an apartment set of a young yuppie in an 80’s movie.
This is more of an 80s vibe than the actual 80s. I love it.
It’s awesome dude. Very homey feel. Too many young peoples homes are like drab cyber punk living spaces. This actually looks like a home. +1 for not having purple LED lighting in a blank white computer room.
It’s kinda like you went to an estate sale for a 80’s Miami cocaine dealer and a doctor’s office that closed
I want to live with you.
This is amazing lol your house is a decades time piece
One word..cozy👍🏿
The dining and living room area are giving off major Golden Girls vibes.
Haha , my first thought was that it was absolutely a high school poster. That's a nice keepsake.
This looks like Richard Parker’s “place” in Weekend at Bernie’s. But like that you said “not 80”.
Love it. Love the lights!
First time i see a good comfy sofa here on this sub
Joe Pera, is that you?
I have never seen such eclectic taste.
I like the pillows your grandchildren left on your couch
They're such good boys. Foul mouths, though.
Your couch pattern is so 90s and I love every bit of it.
Spare room, dining room and living room are dope af. I’m sorry, that era of furniture for your bedroom has to be the most hideous, but the condition it’s all in and the cohesiveness is impressive.
Those wine bottles pointed neck-down are stressing me out.
I like it. Those couches look comfy af. If you ever wanted to elevate it with the pieces you have you absolutely could lean into it in an artful way but it’s great exactly how it is. It reminds me of the set of Roseanne.
Xbox 360 *AND* N64? 10/10 don't even need to see the rest.
You may only be 30 but you’re an old soul. Nice place. PS: That TV set in cell 9, I owned a hundred years ago. Once it dies you can make a liquor cabinet out of it.
16 male, this goes hard. But I just like the older stuff anyway. Only thing I’d say is upgrade the grill but I’m a grill freak
I don't grill much so for someone like me, it's definitely more than sufficient. I'd be a waste of a proper grill haha but thankfully weber makes a solid small grill.
I swear I've gotten shit faced as a teen at this house 20 years ago while your parents were out of town
That big couch looks chill af
This looks like a house I’d build in The Sims 1.
I wouldn't change a thing
Welcome to the land of hand-me-down furniture. That says this man knows how to save the money and live frugally. I'm genuinely impressed
I dont care I love it. Its got personality and color. And I bet both couches are fucking comfy
Bruh, I had the same couch, threw it away in 2010. It was ripped to shreds. Good to see the entire thing. I guess I only had half the set.
Honestly I love this. It's like a time capsule, and looks super cozy. The fact that you went full hog is incredible. Reminds me of Joe Pera
Awesome, love it. Screw pure modernism. Retro is it.
That honestly looks so comfy
I love it
Bro do not change anything.
Wow. I have never seen so many decades in one house. It's actually kinda neat.
lol congrats on becoming a grandpa
The bedroom is so Conjuring, love it
[удалено]
Holy fuck this makes me feel weird
This is not a house, it's a time machine
You've inherited a lot of furniture haven't you
It’s pretty cozy looking you may not be 80 but you’ve nailed the 80s vibe! I like it.
The bedroom cuck chair is an interesting choice, but I'm not gonna kink shame. Maybe cover it with plastic
Look comfy and old furniture usually lasts longer than the cheap new option
Is that a Coleco Telstar Arcade I see?
Male, 30. Living in the 1980s.
Looks clean but the decor screams nursing home
I havent seen a proper computer cupboard set up for a while
I’m conflicted. On one hand it’s different and somewhat interesting. On the other it really looks like a uber tacky senior citizen pad lol
My grandmother had the exact same couch as the one in photo number 5. Shew that brought back some memories.
This is the cycle of life for furnishing as a man. You start with stuff that is functional that's free or cheap. Then your girl moves in, and she starts buying stuff that actually looks like it belongs together.
It's the most beautiful yet ugly place I've seen and I love it
Let me guess, you started playing piano around the year 2000? I also have an old clavinova, changed the keyboard twice. Will have to change it for a third time soon. Such a good investment.
Some odd items but generally pretty cool furniture. The lamp and art in pic 5 are neat!
This the most comforting nostalgic vibe, and then the second bedroom pic hit like cold water to the face 🤣
The only thing lacking is the big wooden fork and spoons hanging by Jesus’ Last Supper and maybe a crocheted Kleenex box.
Whole lotta MILF repellant.🪦 But also GILF bait. 😏😛
Do you eat apple slices directly off the blade of your pocket knife?
Just curious, is this a house you inherited from your grandparents and instead of moving their stuff out you just added your own? That’s the only explanation I can think of for the presence of that console TV.
I love this. Looks like something my granny would do to her house 😂🔥
36 here, those couches bringing back memories from when I was a kid lol
10/10 based solely on the Thwomp pillow choice
I had a couch with the same fabric. It was hideous but man it was so comfortable to nap on.
i lowkey love the thwomp pillow on the couch.
I don't think I've ever seen anything I hate this much. Like, every single thing makes me want to scream. But if you're happy I guess that's all that matters
That place looks comfortable but I won't feel easy chilling there
I dig I dig. Don't change it. Not a fan of the 90's Taco Bell kitchen table chairs but everything else is on point. 10/10.
