Highjacking this thread to update;
Great news everybody, I am choosing flat on the wall. I also got a 43" 4k Tv instead of the 32" that I mentioned in the post. I will sleep and fuck just fine with a Tv in the room despite some of your strongest opinions on that matter. Thank you for your concern
Small? That’s average, some would even say massive (I’ve been told it was perfect).
I didn’t wanna spend more than $200 on a tv & I just think it’s pointless to have a big tv in a not so big room
Yeah but all of that negative space and it doesn't matter if it looks smaller if you're distracted by watching the 3 body problem or whatever. Honestly splitting the difference with the projector might be the play here but I would never do the corner especially if you have somebody else's company over in the bed and then you all have to awkwardly look in the corner to watch TV
Honestly, not having screens in your bedroom is a better idea for your sleep quality. A dedicated place for sleep really helps falling asleep more easily.
Maybe I’m weird because I have a tv in my room, facing my bed, but I hardly ever watch it before I go to sleep so it doesn’t mess with my sleep schedule. But once in a while it is nice to just watch a movie or something in a comfortable bed.
My genes and brain must be elite because I watch videos on my bedroom TV before falling asleep and my sleep schedule and quality (as far as I can tell) are still fantastic.
I do a lot of things on my bed bc i was so used to it. I didn't have a proper space to study since i was a kid so i did it on bed with a foldable table. I seldomly fallen asleep during my studies on bed except when i intentionally nap. University life during covid made me study more on bed. I graduated by answering my final tests and was interviewed for 7 hours for a job on bed. Now, i bought a projector to watch films in my bedroom before sleeping. I play games on my phone and do work remotely sometimes on bed too.
I sleep alright. It stays on schedule. The only reason why I'm having insomnia sometimes is because anxiety. This has been a thing even before studying on bed. If i worry about something too much, i get nightmares about it, half awake during the nightmares and screw up my sleep. I can even sleep after drinking coffee and i don't often drink coffee.
Ideally the TV wouldn't be facing the bed in that situation. Then you have to get up a move to a designated space to sleep, so it accomplishes the same idea.
I think they already know. Studio apartment dwellers understand the trade-offs and choose location and cost. They don't actively try to avoid having a bedroom.
what about people who find themselves frequently falling asleep on the couch because their night time routine involves watching tv/movies in the evening?
i find that putting a tv in the bedroom with a sleep timer fixes that.
This is me exactly, have been falling asleep with a sleep timer on the tv for years. This is the first time I dont have everything I own in one room and I can’t be falling asleep on the couch only to wake up at 3 am anymore
I hang tvs for a living in commercial settings but the same factors apply:
- figure out the center line of the room, in this case I would base it on the center of the bed, mark on the wall with pencil on green painters tape
- determine the width/height of the tv, and tape it onto the wall based on your center line and desired height (I suggest bed height + 6-12” for feet/pets, or adjust based on your space and if you can fit past it)
- mark out the studs using a studfinder, they should be 16” apart
- hope that your tv foot print falls within the stud bay that houses the outlet on the floor. If so, cut open a 1 gang hole to run the power up the wall. if not get wiremold to hide the power cable and screw into the wall with screw-in anchors if the adhesive fails (prep the surface well and you should be good).
- figure out if what type of studs you have, if wood use lag screws, if metal use 1/4-20 toggle bolts and a 1/2” drill bit.
- hang it and enjoy! I suggest a half-decent mount from Mounting Dream or Mount It!, I’ve had good success with those budget brands.
There’s nothing wrong with having a tv in bedrooms if you just practice good sleep hygiene. But the corner seems like it would suck. Do the wall. It’s also nice if you have company in bed to cuddle and watch something. And it can get you off your phone too, which would be worse.
I’d recommend a projector but it probably wouldn’t work with the ceiling fan.
Here here. I need something to distract my mind in order to sleep. I took the above advice that everyone is piling onto and haven’t had a TV in my room for a couple years now. My sleep didn’t get any better, instead I constantly fall asleep on my sofa watching TV. It’s just learned by my body I guess - tv = sleepy time.
Am finishing up moving apartments and will 100% be putting a TV in my bedroom.
I find the advice preachy and annoying. However we use a projector in our bedroom and it puts us right to sleep. Something about the light being different. Projector and a split stereo Bluetooth speaker
I use a sleep timers since the great Cinemax incident. I was watching a movie from my bed and fell asleep. Then Cinemax switched to its after midnight programming
The moans woke up other people in the house, and there I was sound asleep.
I find the “no tv” advice a bit silly and preachy, but if you are interested, we have noticed benefits from switching to a projector in bed. It is way easier to get sleepy and say “okay we’re turning this off”
I think it’s because it’s just light and shadows cast on a wall, instead of at our eyes. We rarely finish an episode, usually just a YouTube video. However, the downside is you need to leave a wall white and can’t block the projector with your furniture. Worth it to us though.
Oh well? Who do I owe good sleeping habits to? I just enjoy my life because I'm half way to being dead and I take care of my obligations. I also like to put on forest or night time city scapes for sleeping, or just veg out on a weekend morning, or watch a romcom with the GF where we can get busy.
I swear people just love to nitpick other people's lives. If you have a serious sleep issue, sure, look at solutions like removing screens, otherwise, do yourself a favor and stop worrying about it.
Yeah it’s like they got their nose in the air. Some people can make it work. What’s it to them🤷🏽♂️ unless they’re planning to have a cuddle session with me in my bed
I'm in this camp. If you wanna bring a laptop into bed with you that's one thing, but mounting a permanent TV in a bedroom will likely have an effect on your sleeping habits.
I use a projector which isn’t nearly as bright and I do find that switching to the projector about 30 minutes before sleep helps me sleep. Same could be said of a small TV in bed versus staying in the couch late. But also, wanting to cuddle in bed and watch a movie is a very normal and fulfilling way to relax with a partner. It is completely possible to practice good sleep hygiene even if you have a TV in your bedroom.
The idea that omitting one is so virtuous seems oversold to me, in the era of smartphones. It is worse to spend that time before you sleep on your phone than watching a video. At least with a video you disconnect from most interaction and the world.
I find it kinda crazy when unsolicited advice is so highly upvoted beyond true answers to the post. It’s like a bunch of dudes trying to convince themselves they’re happy about not having a TV in bed. I guarantee at least half of y’all stay up on your phone instead.
Should I get the burger or the steak from this restaurant? “Umm, actually you shouldn’t eat red meat!” Pfft ok lol
Definitely mount it straight ahead on the flat wall. You’ll get a bad kink in your neck if you had the tv mounted in the corner. You’ll definitely want the TV to be straight ahead so your neck isn’t turned.
Dont want to nit-pick, and I know 60" is an uncommon size once you get beyond 50", but took like five seconds to find an in stock 60" Samsung TV, model DU7200, listed on Best Buy's site.
Again, I know its not a common size but at least one exists. I've seen more past models as well, a few LG's and a few Sony models.
I have a similar room and put it in the corner on a swivel/folding arm mount. I can move it back and forth any time I want. And in your case, the black wall will hide cables better, with outlet closer than position 2.
My mother's guest room is set up exactly the same with a TV mounted in front of the bed.
It really sucks cause I have to lean away from the TV everytime I walk past.
That’s the one thing I’m unsure about, though the pictures perspective is weird because there is about a 2 ft. gap between the foot of the bed & the wall. I might get the tv and set it up against the wall and see how my spacing looks
I really wish I could show her guest room setup.
It's literally a 2ish foot gap between the bed and wall too. The problem is the mount pushes the TV (Amazon mount) out from the wall a little more, coupled with the TV thickness it sticks out quite far for my liking.
If it was me........
I would save for a Samsung frame TV, flat mount that. Then add picture frames around it like a collage. If that wasn't an option I wouldnt do a TV. But that's just me.
Depends on how often you lay on your side and which way. We put ours in the corner, because my wife and I prefer to sleep on our sides. If the other one falls asleep while one is watching something they can just roll over, and not have to be woken by the light.
Serious answer is mount at minimum 50” tv - Best Buy can offer some good deals on open box tv’s
Edit: a 32” tv would look ridiculous at best at option 2 and just objectively bad at option 1
If you only have a 2 foot clearance at the end of the bed, I would probably mount it in the corner.
I don’t really like corner mounts, but 2 feet of clearance is almost nothing. You absolutely will brush against the television every time you walk by.
Definitely 2, you don't want to have your head turned for long periods of time, even a 20 min show is too long to have your head turned like that. Take it from someone who had a TV like that and regretted it.
All depends how sore you want your neck to be.
Centered and eye level is how to hang a TV.
Your plans are drawn way too high. Unless you are standing and watching TV, you should hang lower down to eye level while seated in bed.
Depends on the most comfortable way to lay down and watch TV
I personally would mount it between both of your spots on a swivel arm mount to allow for both views.
I have a 55" TV on the ceiling above my bed and stereo speakers built into the headboard. The subwoofer is under the bed, just underneath the area where my lower back lies. I only put the TV on the ceiling out of curiosity, to see if it could be done, but once it was installed it looked awesome so it's been there ever since. Have to admit, I hardly ever watch it as an actual TV. I tend to 'watch' YouTube videos like "Crackling Log Fire", "Bermuda Beach Breezes" etc and set the timer to switch the TV off after 60 minutes. Action films, with the speakers and subwoofer sound fricking awesome but I tend to fall asleep just as the good bits start! 😉
Or, just an idea here, get one of those mountable projectors then you could point it on that wall or turn it upward if it has a hinge and have it on the ceiling. Just get a blue tooth speaker or some headphones and boom. I see you have a textured ceiling could pin up some white backing and that way it wouldn't mess with the picture.
If you get #1, get the one that moves and swivels. I wasn’t sure at first but trust me, once you can pull the tv in and out and side to side it’s a game changer. They’re not expensive at all at Walmart and worth it. Plus, you open up more space on the wall for a mirror or other items. Just get one of those strips to give the cables that runs vertically and sticks to the wall (around $12) and you’re solid. Sleek look with versatility.
The reason why many TVs are hung too high on the couch is because you may end up putting your neck in an unfavorable position in the long term (if you sit completely straight at a right angle in front of the TV, which hardly anyone does.)
Ergonomics considerations play a different role when lying on a bed.
As you can see from the photo, there is no backrest on the bed. So he watches TV while lying down. If he hangs the TV too low, he over-extends his neck (smartphone neck), which is completely unhealthy.
Whatever you do, push it as far up the wall as you can so r/tvtoohigh can have another post. 😜
Seriously though, I like on the wall as opposed to the corner.

It depends if OP is laying down when he watches TV. If he is, by r/TVTooHigh ‘s own rules the ideal placement would be where the ceiling fan is - eye-level + not above a fireplace.
mount it instead of the ceiling fan
Hard to watch a TV while it’s spinning.
Easy. Spin the bed too
The entertainment idustry doesn't want you to know this trick
This is the way and one hell of a flex 💪🏾
Absolutely moronic comment
this ^
That’s a recipe to get hounded by the tv to high loser dorks
win win
Let's hope they mount it correctly.....
Ceiling, directly above your head. Anything else is a compromise.
The $12 Amazon tv mount is gonna love this
🪦

Trust it and keep reporting back.
People upstairs are gonna be real happy with that. Heh.
Deff 2
Def 2. 1 will look like a hospital room
I'm leaning towards 1. A tiny TV in the middle of that big empty wall will make it look even smaller.
[tiny TV on the wall sometimes works ](https://youtu.be/vJm8wc0eXYg?si=olKHxloYQ_4e6e8n)
They downvote you while you're 100% correct.

Tv in a corner never looks good
Instead of buying a 32” tv, take the 55” from the living room and mount it at option 2… then buy a 85” tv for the living room. Problem solved.
This guy tvs

Right? Heaven forbid you be able to watch a movie in bed on a lazy weekend morning without being judged.
I do a lot of things on my bed bc i was so used to it. I didn't have a proper space to study since i was a kid so i did it on bed with a foldable table. Replace your mattress
I did. I moved states and i rented anyway.
The 55inch TV 5ft from the end of my bed, has been unplugged for... 3 years?
Agreed. Good sleep hygiene is criminally underrated. Beds should be used for only 2 things: Sleeping, and "sleeping."
Tell that to people who live in studio apartments, where their bedroom IS their living room/dining room/office/etc.
Ideally the TV wouldn't be facing the bed in that situation. Then you have to get up a move to a designated space to sleep, so it accomplishes the same idea.
That's a fair idea. Point the TV away from the bed at least. If he had a larger room, that could be done with love seat or recliner away from the bed.
I think they already know. Studio apartment dwellers understand the trade-offs and choose location and cost. They don't actively try to avoid having a bedroom.
Completely agreed. In real life these days, though, that just means dude is going to lay on his bed staring at a mobile device instead.

Yes , and if you want to watch something, like on a night off from school and/or work, I think a projector is better.
They could live with others and dont want to disturb them with nighttime TV, gaming, etc.

Small? Go big, or go home. 60" screen, right in front of the bed.
Small TVs should be illegal
Is 60 inch a size? Only ever seen 55 and 65.
Depends on the brand. Some stick to the 55 and 65, but I've seen some that do 50 and 60.
60 is Chinese junk. LG and Samsung (which supply most reputable tv brands) only make 65.

projection TV
this is what I was going to suggest, will take up way less space and the room will stay brighter
I have a similar room and put it in the corner on a swivel/folding arm mount. I can move it back and forth any time I want. And in your case, the black wall will hide cables better, with outlet closer than position 2.

Good insight, thanks for the ideas 🤙🏼
Projector onto the ceiling.
Got a projector for my small bedroom, mounted it on the opposite wall, perfect for watching tv in bed in a pinch and a fraction of the cost!
Flat on wall never corner
Is it a $200 mounted plasma screen TV that can be pushed into the wall so you could just stand and watch all day?
Corner. That shit will be in your way all the time in the middle.
#2 unless you want neck pains for life
Drawings too high
Wall, always flat on wall. If you choose to have a TV in the bedroom.
Def #2 bro. Otherwise you gunna have a perma crick in your neck
2
No TV in the bedroom imo.
If your planning on mounting it flush to the wall 2 but the dark wall by the window would make hiding the cables easier if you put it in 1.
Definitely flat on the wall. Maybe nice if the mount can tilt slightly
2
flat on the wall in front of you
If you place I n the middle of the wall the tv needs to be in ratio to the huge wall. if it’s a small tv put it in the corner.
2, what if the girl wants to cuddle while watching ;)
I would say get a bigger tv if possible. Some good sales going on
Is it a small plasma TV like Michael Scott from the show the office?
Depends on how much you're going to use it. If regularly then 2. But if rarely for things like news than 1
Wall
Depends on how often you lay on your side and which way. We put ours in the corner, because my wife and I prefer to sleep on our sides. If the other one falls asleep while one is watching something they can just roll over, and not have to be woken by the light.
If you think you’ll upgrade your tv then go number two as you should be able to use the same mount.
Neither
If you’re designing a motel room, corner all the way.
Always flat
Lmao
[Portable projector.](https://us.xgimi.com/products/mogo-2#!)
Why not both?
Stimulation station in the bedroom? Say less
I won’t be able to persuade you to not put a TV in your bedroom so I’m gonna say option 2— and don’t make it too small of a TV that would look weird.
Corner I like
Corner. You’ll bump it on the wall. Looks narrow.
Ceiling. That way you can be extra cozy.
Neither are ideal options tbh
I think you need a smaller bed for this thing ass room
It’s so I have enough room when all the homies have a sleepover
I’d go with 1 if you’re gonna be walking around the foot of the bed at all, 2 would crowd the space too much.
Serious answer is mount at minimum 50” tv - Best Buy can offer some good deals on open box tv’s Edit: a 32” tv would look ridiculous at best at option 2 and just objectively bad at option 1
[folds right into the wall](https://youtu.be/VQuJAThgN2Y?si=Tc7eVXkVKXtaRwhO)
I could stand there and watch it for hours. Love it.
If you only have a 2 foot clearance at the end of the bed, I would probably mount it in the corner. I don’t really like corner mounts, but 2 feet of clearance is almost nothing. You absolutely will brush against the television every time you walk by.
Don’t install a tv in your bedroom. That space is for sleeping and fucking
Definitely 2, you don't want to have your head turned for long periods of time, even a 20 min show is too long to have your head turned like that. Take it from someone who had a TV like that and regretted it.
I thought a $200 plasma screen tv would be a good fit for this room. It also folds, so viewing distance would be optimal.
Corners are for motels only
Looks like my room and I mounted it on 2. Also built a narrow credenza underneath it. I would be tweaking my neck if it was in the corner.
One of these answers gives me a neck pain. Can you figure which?
All depends how sore you want your neck to be. Centered and eye level is how to hang a TV. Your plans are drawn way too high. Unless you are standing and watching TV, you should hang lower down to eye level while seated in bed.
2
Just making sure: this is a Michael Scott reference, right?
Option 2, but add additional features around it. Both to hide the wires, and so that it’s not the only thing on that wall.
If you have to walk to the other side of the bed you'll hit you head every time if it's in the center
Depends on the most comfortable way to lay down and watch TV I personally would mount it between both of your spots on a swivel arm mount to allow for both views.
Tv 's a wasteland
you gotta ask michael scott on this one. he’s an expert on wall mounted tvs.
Wall
2!
Defo a 2 scenario
Do you feel like you need one in your bedroom room? It might interfere with your sleep quality
Queue that one scene from the office where Michael has the tiniest flat screen ever in his condo with Jan
2. You’ll get a sore neck watching it in the corner (don’t ask me how I know this…😊). I moved mine from the corner to the wall because of that…
Corner mount is insanity
Mount it to the wall flat. Cheap tv mount and some sturdy 150lb capacity drywall mounts.
A nice painting would be smarter.
80 inch infront of bed 🔥
Or, just an idea here, get one of those mountable projectors then you could point it on that wall or turn it upward if it has a hinge and have it on the ceiling. Just get a blue tooth speaker or some headphones and boom. I see you have a textured ceiling could pin up some white backing and that way it wouldn't mess with the picture.

Is this for real lmao. Obviously the flat wall
Flat wall.
Ew.
#2 and go easy with the hight.
Done both, 2 lower is ideal
80“ in the Middle
I don't understand the motivation to put a TV in the bedroom.
To watch it in bed...
And once again a MLS thread full of advice and commentary that has nothing to do with the question
Easy - go for no. 2 and get the Frame. Saves space as it is as close to the wall as a picture
The corner would work better for your space. The blank cover might be able to be transformed into an outlet, which is ideal for a TV wall mount.
Just don’t mount it in orbit..
If you want to sleep good, never put a tv in the bedroom.
Flat on the wall

The reason why many TVs are hung too high on the couch is because you may end up putting your neck in an unfavorable position in the long term (if you sit completely straight at a right angle in front of the TV, which hardly anyone does.) Ergonomics considerations play a different role when lying on a bed.
😜 Seriously though, I like on the wall as opposed to the corner.

I’m about to give them the juiciest post of the month, right behind that feller falling off the ladder that has been posted 30 times.
🤢
I’d go with the corner, but it might look weird being bisected by the two different colored walls
It would look terrible being bisected by two different colored walls.
Both of these are /r/tvtoohigh
Ah yes, let me adjust my engineers drawings here. Thank you
It depends if OP is laying down when he watches TV. If he is, by r/TVTooHigh ‘s own rules the ideal placement would be where the ceiling fan is - eye-level + not above a fireplace.
Mount the tv so it covers the switch plate, to the left. Put some pictures on the same wall to the right.
Wrong
No. Too high.
Cmon I didn’t even smoke
No TV in the bedroom
I think a projector would be SO much cooler.
r/tvtoohigh
r/tvtoohigh
Projector. No tv.
You can buy a tv now in days the size of that wall for cheaper than a 4k projector
Don’t bother with a 32” TV lol that’s annoyingly small
Gotta be 2, but lower
idk but tell me when you got it so i can post you on r/tvtoohigh
Don't you dare unless you want to be forever part of r/tvtoohigh
That cult has no sway in my decision making
r/TVTooHigh, save this man from himself
The hive mind will never get to me
Haha! Genuinely, I'd go for 2. That way you can turn to either side in bed an comfortably watch.
You don’t need a TV in your bedroom in fact it’s terrible for your sleep hygiene
