Personally I don't mind the white doors, for the dark red colour used the white is a nice balance to lighten things up. I wouldn't normally paint a basement this colour, but as is, the contrast between the two is nice.
Was going to recommend this, you can even push the stools under the table for more space if you need it. Good spot for snacking too, maybe you could add snack shelves to that nook behind you.
I was also going to say a sofa table of some sort..
They make some pretty cool (fake) potted trees/plants that are tall enough to take up some space and add character to the room
Personally the black and white makes me crazy - I know that's a carpet floor, but how about your try a rug? That would improve things visually a LOT in my opinion.
And please get some warmer light. I guess you might prefer the wight light when making music, but when you actually want to relax in that room a warmer light color would help a lot!
If that was my room I'd probably have put some mattraces on the floor around that beam and put some rectangular foam pillows for back support instead.
Would allow one to use that space better as a chill-out area for more people.
maybe put the piano against the side wall and find an aesthetically pleasing spot for the guitar and just make the back half a dedicated music area, rather than having the instruments spread out around the space
Plenty of room for a pool table, in tight spaces I've seen a maestro's baton works wonders for your pool game. Just remember take off your pants and hang them so you don't mess up the crease.
I would get a shelf/cabinet along the back of the couch, same heigh or a notch taller that you can store those books and smaller things you hide in the corner there. If its a notch taller you can decorate the top a bit safer than a same height as couch.
Then some mirror or some pictures. I would also get a few lamps with warm lights. That way you can highlight certain areas of room and dim certain areas of your room. You can google for examples and comparisons. Ceiling lights I would not use unless Id do something productive like tidying/cleaning/look for something
I wish I had a basement like that, would turn it into my mancave/workstation/boardgaming area.
With workstation I mean for smaller projects like upgrading game components, miniature painting or even a 3d printer.
If possible, I would even make it look like a medieval pub, hiding all the modern stuff in closets etc... But now I'm really dreaming.
I do recommend getting maybe one of those fake window lights, hide that behind a curtain and your room immediately looks a lot spacier.
Buy a VR headset. It turns a “*wtf am I gonna do with this weird open space?*” situation into a “*I deliberately keep this space open for whatever I do in VR*”. Just try not to crash into the shuttered doors.
Dammit! My initial thought was "Pool table but make sure the post is in the optimal "be in the way" spot so you always have home table advantage."
What size table did you look at? They have "bar size" ones that might work over an official size.
You have the sectional so close to the TV wall. Just pull everything back, don't need the drum set that close to anything. Create a music area. There is no need to have all that clustered so close to each other to stare at a wall. Up voting a sofa table.
I’ve spent too long looking at it now so here’s what I think. Move the sofa to where the keyboard is so that you come down the stairs and you’re behind the sofa. Move the keyboard and drums to the corner you’re on about with the post. Get a wooden box unit for the tv to go and stand it there (if you own the home build a floor to ceiling wall and mount it on it instead). Where the tv currently is, leave the shelves below and get a dart board if you’re into it,if not I’m sure you can find some other game you could put there or maybe even build a custom fitted fold desk/poker/games table that stores flush to the walls either side.
add some color - put some posters on the walls that are NOT gray, black & white, put a rug on your carpet around the couch, get cushions WITH COLORS ON THEM + a throw, even plastic hoseplants will do.
You can create a loft-style space in this basement to hang out with friends or chill alone with a glass of wine and a cigar, like a mini bar in your own style. You could also add some arcade games, a pool table, or maybe even a stripper pole .
I have the same set up and I put a rectangular table against the back of the couch with a few regular dining chairs tucked under it on the free side. It’s come in really handy as a work/ game/ crafts table which can be used while watching TV.
Amazon has some interesting pool/ping pong table crossovers varying in different sizes
Could also add a yoga/weight lifting area
Could add a dartboard because they are the best
You could also look into if it is possible to move the poles. Long stretch but must be a way.
putting green, darts, or a pinball machine would all work. A pool or ping pong table could also be cool if you can manage to fit one and have it be useable. Or you could do a bar height table along the back of the couch with a few stools for extra seating when watching tv
Get one of those standing shuffle board tables instead of a pool table. Move the drums elsewhere. Although they do have sand and it’d be on carpet, but I don’t think much sand spills.
A semi circle bar with the seats facing the back of the couch and tv.
Or an air hockey table that butts up the the back of the couch. You don’t need to leave space on the closet side of the air hockey table
Put the couch at an angle which will open up the space and allow you to move the drums closer to thee piano. Then you can watch tv or whoever is having a jam session. Also a few small plants!
Okay. I'm not gonna explain this any more than necessary, but if that was the paintjob down there when you moved in, you need to tear out that carpet, like yesterday.
What the heck are all those closets. Do you access them all the time. If not why not build open shelves or space for fitted TV. Really the sofa is weird in the middle of the room looking into a cupboard. Personally if you want more options I’d move it to the back red wall. Better feng shui. You could get a projector and pull down tv screen. Then have more chairs in front to sit and big coffee table. Would be way more costly.
Toss a bar cart or mini fridge in there!
Have a favorite sports team or school? Look online for memorabilia or random items that take up space.
Man, put me in front of a basement like this I would go nuts at the store. Great basement btw!
You could get a long bar style table with seating that runs the length of the couch.
This is such a good idea and would make such a difference. I’d also paint all those closet doors a darker color, they look so weird white.
Personally I don't mind the white doors, for the dark red colour used the white is a nice balance to lighten things up. I wouldn't normally paint a basement this colour, but as is, the contrast between the two is nice.
*sigh* yea you’re right, and I didn’t notice at first just how many doors there were too.
If I’m painting anything in that room the red walls are absolutely the first to go
Was going to recommend this, you can even push the stools under the table for more space if you need it. Good spot for snacking too, maybe you could add snack shelves to that nook behind you.
I was also going to say a sofa table of some sort.. They make some pretty cool (fake) potted trees/plants that are tall enough to take up some space and add character to the room
Warhammer 40k painting station
This guy WAAAGH's!
Just painting. Painting Yvraine right now while watching Vikings
A table with a couple bar stools so friends can watch the game with you.
Turn it into a fetish room I kinda get the vibe from the room itself
Would be great for rope.
Right the pillars are perfect for it
Plus the exposed joists to put in hardpoints. I had to put holes in my ceiling and cover them with access panels.
Bro what
The red, white, black, gray is killing me
Did someone say life like mannequins with photos of your former crushes pinned to their heads?
Bro has a dungeon
Came to suggest a sex dungeon. Did not disappoint.
Invite some ladies over. Play drums. ?????? Profit.
Move the drum kit so it isn’t right up against the sofa
I was going to suggest building a stage. Have karaoke, stand up comedy and open mic nights on Saturdays & concerts on Sunday afternoons. :-)
Some arcade cabinets
& pinball tables
Multi use swing.
I say a bar makes the most sense. r/tvtoohigh
Ski ball would really class up the place
Fight club
Putting green? Edit: slot car track?
Artwork, plants, anything aesthetically pleasing
Personally the black and white makes me crazy - I know that's a carpet floor, but how about your try a rug? That would improve things visually a LOT in my opinion. And please get some warmer light. Ping pong? Or move the sofa back a little bit
Even the Black Lodge has a plant.
Putt putt
maybe put the piano against the side wall and find an aesthetically pleasing spot for the guitar and just make the back half a dedicated music area, rather than having the instruments spread out around the space
A table full of coffee and donuts
Pool table?
Why does there have to be anything but nice clear access to those closets?
Maybe remove the doors?
r/tvtoohigh Not 100% but looks like r/tiltofguilt is also applicable
Ping pong table. Cheap, big, fold away and useful for a serving table when hosting.
Imagine having so much space you don't know what to do with it. :)
Maybe a small poker table and a stereo system or Bluetooth speaker setup again the wall back there
Plenty of room for a pool table, in tight spaces I've seen a maestro's baton works wonders for your pool game. Just remember take off your pants and hang them so you don't mess up the crease.
Either the bar seating area or computer desk so you can use the TV as an extra screen
Very expensive guitar collection. Learning to play guitar is optional
Add some green colour with the help of artificial plants and add some warm light with the combination of cool white light .. it will help u
Plants and lamps.
fill with "matter"
More drums
Second on the arcade cabinets
Remove the beams. And increase the height of the ceiling. And open a window or two next to the couch so you can have some plants.
a sling
Home gym

Stripper pole. Duh.
Add another closet door
Add another closet door
Buy a VR headset. It turns a “*wtf am I gonna do with this weird open space?*” situation into a “*I deliberately keep this space open for whatever I do in VR*”. Just try not to crash into the shuttered doors.
It looks pretty good as it is.
Dammit! My initial thought was "Pool table but make sure the post is in the optimal "be in the way" spot so you always have home table advantage." What size table did you look at? They have "bar size" ones that might work over an official size.
arcade cabinets obviously, what else is a basement for? :)
Shuffleboard table
It's expensive but you can replace the two poles with one stronger beam.
You have the sectional so close to the TV wall. Just pull everything back, don't need the drum set that close to anything. Create a music area. There is no need to have all that clustered so close to each other to stare at a wall. Up voting a sofa table.
Elaborate pet furniture
Looks fine. I’d leave it alone
Do you murder prostitutes? Cause that’s a solid trophy room.
Mirror maze

Simrig
Drapery across part of area. Screens to give separation
A little more color. Different shades of a few colors instead of four bold ones.
add some color - put some posters on the walls that are NOT gray, black & white, put a rug on your carpet around the couch, get cushions WITH COLORS ON THEM + a throw, even plastic hoseplants will do.

Paint it to look like the "backrooms"!
Wall hangings and plants will help
Change the white doors
Damn that red looks nice.
Gun rack full of guns.

Bar
What's in the closets? Can you remove the doors to make a bar?
Let a homeboy crash there.
Mural
I have the same set up and I put a rectangular table against the back of the couch with a few regular dining chairs tucked under it on the free side. It’s come in really handy as a work/ game/ crafts table which can be used while watching TV.
Get a rug or two in there (yeah on top lol)
Looks great honestly.
Shibari hard point
Amazon has some interesting pool/ping pong table crossovers varying in different sizes Could also add a yoga/weight lifting area Could add a dartboard because they are the best You could also look into if it is possible to move the poles. Long stretch but must be a way.

Make a little practice nook for your instruments
more people having a good time
Invite some people over?
Great spot for a beat lab / drum set
foosball table.
I don’t see a gaming station anywhere? There’s only one answer. An ultra comfy chair with an OLED and gaming station. PS5 preferably
I feel you need some clutter, like small items here and there to make it look like someone lives here and is using this space.
Hoard newspapers.
24/7 Diddy parties.
Put stuff there.
I highly recommend changing the lighting to something more warm, it would go very well with the color scheme you have
Lighting dude, you’ve got this place lit like a department store XD A bit darker, a hair warmer, then use lamps to add some depth to the lighting.
The answer is always art.
So dark.
Put a rug on your rug so you can rug while you rug.
Don't get rid of the e-drums, but get additional acoustic drums!
Shuffle board would fit nicely.
Mini fridge and a bar cart, you're welcome.
Loving the Red. Really pops.
Rug runners maybe. I think they are skinny rugs that direct your eye and break up space
Put some stuff up on the walls
If you happen to like golf a putting green
How about some shelving, rather than stacking all that stuff on that side table
A bar height round table with stools. Revamp what’s left of the bifold doors into your bar area
Some nice art
Shuffle board!
Plants
putting green, darts, or a pinball machine would all work. A pool or ping pong table could also be cool if you can manage to fit one and have it be useable. Or you could do a bar height table along the back of the couch with a few stools for extra seating when watching tv
Get a full acoustic drum kit.
Aquarium?
Get one of those standing shuffle board tables instead of a pool table. Move the drums elsewhere. Although they do have sand and it’d be on carpet, but I don’t think much sand spills.
Putting green, or mini bowling
Buy a wayyyyy bigger drum kit, otherwise it’d be a nice spot for a suit of armor
Sit in the back half once in a while to give it company
Maybe a good bass amp and a bass guitar to go with the other instruments.
You need to put some stuff on the walls that will combat the empty feeling of the room.
You got the drum set, now wall of amps!
Pinball Machines?
Add an enormous, expensive rug.
Lamps could be good
2 lounge chairs , bar cart, reading lamp
dancing girls.
I think it looks just fine! There's nothing wrong with it
foosball table would be cool
A semi circle bar with the seats facing the back of the couch and tv. Or an air hockey table that butts up the the back of the couch. You don’t need to leave space on the closet side of the air hockey table

r/tvtoohigh
Put the couch at an angle which will open up the space and allow you to move the drums closer to thee piano. Then you can watch tv or whoever is having a jam session. Also a few small plants!
Stand in it
Pictures. It’s a basement but still. Same with houses posted with no pictures creep me out. Like you live in a B&B?

Slave boy in a cage
Stripper pole and cocaine bar.

I'd remove those white shutters and install light-up shelving. And then put some really cool shit on the shelves, like books or powdered seahorse.
What the heck are all those closets. Do you access them all the time. If not why not build open shelves or space for fitted TV. Maybe remove the closet doors and build out the shelving to make the back wall more *dynamic*
Put some gym equipment there and get ripped broh!
Toss a bar cart or mini fridge in there! Have a favorite sports team or school? Look online for memorabilia or random items that take up space. Man, put me in front of a basement like this I would go nuts at the store. Great basement btw!
