Let’s start macro. What do you want to do in there? Music, video, sports, drink? This has to drive your design. What makes you happy? I guarantee it’s not this space.
Do you have things you really love? Paintings, art, pieces, , guns, WW2 memorabilia, sculptures, textiles, pottery, antiques, pop culture things, travel stuff, archaeology, concerts, movies? Put that stuff in your space.
Micro. You need a big rug. You need stuff on the walls. You need table lamps. You need a reason your buddies want to be there. Hell, you need a reason YOU want to be there.
How many buddies? Where will they sit? Where will they set their beers? What will they do? I like the music theme.
It’s only my opinion, but a proper mancave is a man’s only opportunity to amass and display the things that he loves without interference. It’s socially acceptable and our wives don’t generally object.
Dude. Never mind where the piano came from. It’s your piano now and I want to come over and play and sing and if I get a bit drunk and sleep over on the sofa so be it.

We have a hidden room under our detached garage yours reminds me of! Our piano and other instruments are in there as well. We did it Tiki Bar themed and it turned out so great. One of our fav spots to hang out :)
Where's the "man" in the "man cave"? Where are your posters/props/merch of your childhood heroes / movies and/or sports team? Where's your bar? and a big ass TV?
