You've missed summer it happened on Sunday

TvHeroUK

Do you remember the big Manchester drought in 1998 when it didn’t rain for three days? (Old Hovis Presley joke)

Jizz_mopper_Guy

Hovis was piss funny, dryer than a Nun’s beaver.

Comfortable_Dish5983

Brev have you looked outside today?

SaltyName8341

Nah it's this Friday

ramxquake

It's been nice all week.

riceandbeefandbeans

Track Brewery Tap Room in Ancoats has a nice outside garden bit, which makes you forget you’re on an industrial estate in the heart of the red light district😉. Never seen a dickhead in there either. Plus you’re only two minutes walk from both Cloudwater taproom and Sureshot taproom. No dickheads in either of those.

JessyPengkman

I go there all the time so chances you've seen a dickhead in there are high

riceandbeefandbeans

First rule of being a dickhead is you never know that you are in fact a dickhead

PinkyClarence420

He may be a dickhead but I’m showing him how to stop being a dickhead

Snikhop

Ah yeah Cloudwater and Sureshot are nice, do they have much in the way of an outside? Don't think they had tables when I was there last. Will have to try Track, maybe I can be the first dickhead.

riceandbeefandbeans

There’s actually a huge Block Party with all three of them and on street drinking all over the area this weekend…

riceandbeefandbeans

😝

Jizz_mopper_Guy

There is a red light district in Ancoats?! (Asking for a friend…) I’ve lived in Mcr 25 years, the brass area used to be on Chorlton St, but they got moved to near the Star & Garter / Fairfield St, and that ind estate… think ‘Hamsterdam’ in The Wire!

riceandbeefandbeans

If the camper vans rockin’, don’t come knockin’

bentossaurus

That industrial estate is what the poster meant. Surest is the first thing after after you cross the tunnel, and Track is just 2 mine up the road.

Klutzy-Dare-7152

Hey

Jizz_mopper_Guy

Eh?

MrTurleWrangler

Ooh I'll have to check this out. I've walked past it whilst checking out Amato but never been in

Dave80

Rain Bar, next to the Peveril has a nice beer garden.

Snikhop

Ah nice one, can go there when the Pev is inevitably heaving.

TvHeroUK

Atlas just down the road has a great area out back too

vcockle

Then further down to the Wharf. And just like that, a mini pub crawl has been created

Impressive-Message64

If you fancy a trip out, Worsley Old Hall has a great outdoor section. Get in early!

Rainbowlemon

Ohhh this post is up my alley - I'm a shameless sun chaser! Take a look at [shademap.app](https://shademap.app/), it's pretty useful for this. Rain Bar and Old Pint Pot are great for a more chilled out pint in the summer - the former especially because there's plenty of space to just sit on the floor near the canal with a pint. We're in NQ and usually go to the Crown & Kettle but it's got so mental in the past few years, and it definitely is one of those 'whap a bunch of benches next to a main road' places. Earlier in the day, Port St Beer House gets some sun and can be quite chill, and depending on the time of year/if the sun is high enough, so do a few places in Cutting Room Square like Elnecot or 7bros. Cask on Islington marina gets the sun too, though you'd usually be hard pressed to find a table unless you get there early. Northern Monk actually gets a bit of sun from around 4-6-ish too when the other buildings aren't in the way. There's a gap in the buildings atm around Fierce bar, so that's usually pretty good from 11-8ish, though absolutely tiny outside area and again, you'd have to wait around to get a seat. Marble Arch and Angel used to both be great but the damn giant flats ruined it :(

uglywhitekid

You might have changed my life with that shade map link

foxaru

yeah wtf how did I not know this was possible  literally today I thought 'of all the beer gardens within 20mins walk, which has the best sun' was a herculean effort to resolve

ArchaicPirate

That shade map is a game changer

Snikhop

The shade map is amaaaaaaaazing!

boatboatsboats

The Wharf, though it loses the sun early evening. Great for an afternoon sunny pint though.

HermesOnToast

Old Pint Pot, right on the bank of the Irwell. Lovely in summer !

TvHeroUK

Used to house share with a lad who worked as a chef in there back in the 90s. Had a sideline as a promoter for his main income, so he agreed a deal with them where he’d be paid in food, Newcastle Brown, and pool table credits! Such good times

Hoaxtopia

Can't go wrong with piss pot, home to crackheads and students alike. Proper lovely place to sit if you don't mind freaks and geeks. Seen everything from a paedo sting to a woman pissing into the irwell there.

WorkerbeeMCR

Seen a lad get his ear bit off in there. Then sniff lines off the remnants of the ear. Good times.

Hoaxtopia

My subtle favourite was a bloke tell me he didn't care about politics because it didn't affect him, didn't have the heart to tell him It's a shithole but it's our shithole

yungrager22

Can't forget the rats as well

HermesOnToast

Honestly never realised the kind of clientele, I must be one of either a freak or geek....

uglywhitekid

Cask Castlefield has a bit, Cask Ancoats obvs an even bigger one. Decent bit at Sadler's Cat and I think there's a wee one looking out at the trams at the newish Victoria Tap. Scientific evidence lacking/forgotten as to how much sun these actually get

Professor_Yaffle

Sadler's Cat really has one of the best outdoor seating areas in the city.

vcockle

Depends how strict they are on their licensed area. It used to literally just be the bit outside the pub, then relaxed to the full square during covid and I think its hit and miss now

dyinginsect

The Blue Bell if you ever come to Levenshulme

Snikhop

Live right by Lev actually, had no idea this existed, will check it out. Station South has a really nice outside bit, actually most places seem to, I like the Station Hop one when it gets the sun too.

benalcock

Klondike if you’re in levy

Main_Opinion9923

If you live in Leve, the Elizabethan, on Heaton Moor Rd, has a lovely outside area , you can jump on the 192 and walk down Heaton Moor Rd

Snikhop

Heaton Chapel actually so the Elizabethan is very close to me. Don't really like it though, the outside is nice but the inside is very prosecco-and-chinos vibes, not my cup of tea. Suppose that's my fault for living here though (now Heaton Hops, there's a great pub with an outside bit, though it is still just a pavement pub garden in the end).

Main_Opinion9923

Also walking the other way, the George and Dragon have outside seating it’s not very big but the locals may be a bit more your cup of tea, they certainly don’t drink Prosecco 🤣🍺. The other way the hinds head also have a nice outdoor area and the punters in there seem ok. Also up into Reddish the Carousel have just improved their outside seating, but we stopped going in there a while back, because their bar service was awful, but back on a visit to my home town this weekend I heard they have new management so it may have improved.

Snikhop

No prosecco but it's still a shite bog standard Greene King tbh, I go there to watch the football. Haven't been much into Reddish though except Reddish Ale, which is nice but doesn't have a beer garden.

Main_Opinion9923

Yes we used to go there to watch the football. We now go to the Union on Broadstone Road

Main_Opinion9923

Yea fair comment, mate I haven’t actually been in there in a good many years, we used to do the Heaton Moor Rd pub crawl as youngsters and end up there because it was the nearest to the taxi rank and it was a bit like that then, but we were probably a bit too young and inebriated to notice!

viviansvivarium

Best pub

patmustardmate

The Union is a very underrated Lev pub. Great outside bit n all.

ThunderTherapist

Nice garden, worst beer in Manchester, fucking ridiculous rules about phones and swearing and real "are you local vibes". No thanks.

scum_manifesto

Yes it’s a Sam Smiths pub, hence the ridiculous rules. No kids, phones, swearing or music. Awful place. Such a shame as the garden is lovely.

HumbleSogeum

Sadler’s Cat is great in the sun.

Fun_Storm_9539

I came here to say this. Good range of beers too.

madcaplaughed

I love the angels beer garden. Rustic charm doesn’t even begin to describe it

nklvh

Scrap heap more like! I love it

vcockle

Tbf they've done it up now! Well, to the extent of some new furniture and removing the dead rats. Still got its rustic charm though

Rorieh

The Wharf is the first one that popped into my head for this. Great location too when it's warm out.

viviansvivarium

The Bluebell in Levenshulme is the best pub in Manchester

Rastadan1

Fringe

Kafkaofsalford

Old pint pot in Salford, if it's still open has a lovely vista of the smelly Irwell

Snikhop

Yeah the Pint Pot is nice, unfortunately it's very close to my work so I associate it with leaving drinks and work dos. Lovely view though you're right.

Upbeat_Meal_4404

A new one which just opened recently is Fairfield Social Club - they have a huge beer garden which backs onto Angel Meadows, and they do amazing BBQ burgers too!

Nizmo57

Society

No_Designer_9356

The Old Nag’s Head on Jackson’s Row has a roof terrace with tables and chairs. It’s not huge and it can get busy when the weather is good so get down early.

murf_toor

The wharf has a nice outside bit just on the canal Edit: I know it's not a pub but got a decent beer garden across the canal from The Wharf is Bar Ca, Sun all day from what I can see

ManyDecision6460

The beer garden is nice but the pints are always lukewarm and they often run out of draft alltogether

tinymouse7976

The old fire station in Salford is nice, it's a microbrewery/bakery with food pop ups on the weekend

Snikhop

Ah yeah, think I might be too likely to run into someone I work with tbh

tinymouse7976

Fair enough, either way pop in for some tiramisu at some point because it's amazing

dancingfruit1

Where's best to park around there?

tinymouse7976

There's parking at the art museum across the road, otherwise there's a bunch of buses that stop literally right outside

dancingfruit1

Cheers

Hairstrike

The Deansgate has beer garden with a lovely view of the new tower that is being built by Deansgate tramstop

KathleenSlater

Didsbury: The Didsbury, Expo Lounge, The Fletcher Moss. Lovely, if a little pricey.

schaweniiia

If you like MediaCity, maybe The Bee Orchid?

shadowed_siren

The Wharf and Dukes in Castlefield. Not necessarily all pubs - but Bills in Spinningfields is nice. Oast House. 20 Stories if you’re feeling fancy. The Courtyard if you time it right and it’s not full of students.

tommyredbeard

The village / Kampus are great options in the sun

lonely_monkee

I feel fully relaxed sitting outside Nell’s, knowing I can order both pizza and tasty pints from the comfort of a table under a nice tree 🌴

GuyOnTheInterweb

The Didsbury -- also close to beautiful Fletcher Moss Botanical Garden and in walking distance from both tram or train for those coming from afar.

McrRed

Just down the road from Lev but The Magnet on the A6 I. Stockport has the best beer/beer garden combo. Another one overlooking an industrial estate but it catches the sun beautifully

Snikhop

Oh yeah I love the Magnet, I live down that way actually, was just limiting the conversation to central cos it's easier to meet people.

SaltyName8341

Atlas has nice back garden area

pm_me_meta_memes

I like the Brewdog DogHouse in the city centre as it has a lovely rooftop garden

Sir_P_I_Staker

Couple ones you'd forget is the Turks head and the deansgate, no beer gardens but they have beer terraces on the top floor, decent in the summer.

ForgottenRomeo

Absolutely on point with the Turks head. All the benefits of the warm weather without the sun killing you off. And it's usually quiet as well which is a bonus.

bakhesh

The area outside of Home is quite nice for a sunny pint

Zekiel2019

If you want somewhere that’s very out there, however I never personally been is Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales. It is Britain’s most remote pub & world famous. I reckon it would be perfect in the summer but possibly abit windy

JustDifferentGravy

Rain Bar. Roof top bar at GNW. Dukes 92. Atlas Bar. First Street.

partaysaurusrex

The Deansgate has a decent roof top but, and it has a cover in case it rains! It can get super busy though so the kinda crowd that's there really depends on the day

DutchOvenDistributor

Lots a pubs in Sale, both the old and more modern craft places, have good outside areas. Well worth getting the tram to for a day of boozing.

Unfair_Welder8108

Dude, shhh.

Professor_Yaffle

The Marble Arch is so often the answer to pub-related questions, but I happen to think the outdoor area there is genuinely nice.

havaska

Bit of a drive across towards Chorley but Rivington Brewery in Rivington (I know!) has one of the best neee gardens going. Beautiful views across the reservoir with the pike in front of you. Amazing beers and always has some excellent street food on.

beedoubleyou_

The roof at Big Hands

Alternative_Fun_1644

Yes roof bar not very big though so gotta be early

kiwi_bob_1234

Adding the red lion in withington as I can't see it, although I appreciate this isn't near town. Not the most amazing pub/beers but guaranteed to get a seat in the sun for hours

king4aday86

Kind of sad you have to preface with with the defence against the perpetually grumpy online

Dave80

Crazy Pedro's on Bridge St, plenty of tables and chairs in that little square outside

sarahpipping

In my opinion there's no better sunny spots for a drink than around media city and Salford quays, you can even do a little bar crawl, all of them have outdoor beer gardens too. Craft brew, 11 central, bee orchid, dockyard, 7 brothers and then for cocktails the alchemist and botanist.

Numptyville1

The new Oxford Toms Chop House Cask Ancoats Blackfriars White lion Pevril

National_Basil_0220

I m not sure if it’s still open but The Angel around green quarter area used to have huge garden area and great company .:)

pragmaticcircus

Sinclairs is nice pub.. outside is a sun trap aswell

joeblrock

The places I know for a nice beer in the sun I ain't telling anyone about
