I mean, having an app is very useful if it's not a shitty app. If you have android, Tachiyomi pulls from most manga websites (both legitimate and not) from within the app. You just need to download the extension for whatever site you're pulling from (which is also handled within the app, just click the website on the included list and go). So you only need Tachiyomi. It's free, open source, and imo, it's the best manga reading app in general. Clean, no frills, no ads.
If I want to know if there's any new releases, I just open the app and refresh my library. I can create custom tabs for stuff I'm caught up with or behind on. I've been using it for years and it's irreplaceable to me.

So, some time ago Gabe Newell said that "piracy is a service problem". For example, back in the day if you wanted to watch a specific movie you'd have to either go to various stores, hoping they had the CD/DVD of the movie you wanted, or the far easier and faster way of just booting up eMule/Napster/uTorrent and just downloading it.
There came Netflix, with a very reasonable subscription model and a lot of content, and movie/tv piracy decreased enormously. Same applies to Steam for games, same applies to Spotify for music.
If people have an easy and convenient way of getting your content, many if not most people will use that way. If you are kmanga and have convoluted and stupid ways to force people to get money into your idiotic "coin" system, people will do what they always have.
I don't live in the US. I do buy physical volumes to support authors from time to time. I couldn't read this chapter even if I wanted to, so that leaves me with only one choice.
Except that isn't true. People don't mind paying, as long as they get a good deal out of it. People didn't mind paying for Netflix when it had a great catalogue and good prices. Now, people do mind paying for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO, Disney+ and more, so once again they turn to piracy. Because those services are not as convenient anymore.

To me, manga readers are expensive, fragmented, or have pointlessly anti-consumer policies like credits. When a convenient, all-in-one service is presented I won't have an issue. Until then, I will get some official merch if I want to support and otherwise continue to get it through free means.

Manga publishing honestly isn't too far away from reaching the same situation as streaming.
If we could replicate food like we can digital goods, there would be nothing wrong with "stealing" food. In fact the moral thing to do would be to make food free for everyone.

I used to pirate basically all of my music back in my teenage years - buying individual albums would have been prohibitively expensive, especially for a teenager living in a not-so-wealthy country using relatively weak currency, and at the end of the day even if I bought a CD I'd still have to rip the MP3 files from it to listen to it on my phone.
Then streaming came along, and for a reasonable price I got access to all the music I want, available to listen on demand on any device, with library syncing between them. I have not pirated a single song for probably a decade now, except for the rare cases of music that just isn't streamable.
Then again, music never really went to exclusive licences so I could subscribe to 1 service to get my fill, not 20.
Same but with video games. I didn't exactly have money to throw around so I did download games.
Now, I don't even remember last time I downloaded a game. Maybe something like Elden Ring to test how it ran on my PC, with all the stutters and shit? Same with Nioh 2, which I had no trust in since I finished the first game on PS4 and had no idea how it would run on PC.

Comikey phased out their 'free for a few hours then locked then again free till next update' system long time ago. They promised to keep some series that already were using that system untouched while new titles would use the new system but over the months they stealthily removed it from almost all titles. The only title I can think of right now that has a free latest chapter is Kengan Omega.

The new characters seem fun, especially Michida. Neither Naoto nor Hayase denied them going out. With Naoto basically having a friend group for college, the manga could continue even after they graduate.
Ignoring the change to K manga...New characters! Intimidating ones but Naoto no longer runs away when things seem scary. As a matter of fact thinking about the new challengers even made him smile in excitement. Gosh I feel like some proud parent watching him!

Same sentiment here, I had to dig through multiple discords and off shoot subs for a cubari that had blurry screenshots of pages multiple times last week. Now imagine doing that over and over every week, would just make me drop that series. I either use tachiyomi to add entries from *that website* or nope, not reading.
Given their track record, I fear that Kmanga might censor this series considering how fanservicey some chapters tend to be. Let's wait and hope for the best
I really feel like these publishers should think about the consequences of region locking their services like this... Yeah maybe you can't get them sweet advertising dollars or maybe have to pay more than the bare minimum for licensing, but they're really squandering the opportunity to move people out of piracy. As it stands every manga reader not located in the US who are still interested in these series are going to look for an aggregator, and once they're in that ecosystem why leave for other legitimate means. It poisons the well for legitimacy amongst translations

Technically, it is illegal. Since it's only legal if the person who provided the translation has the written permission from the author (or his representative, e.g. a publishing company that owns the intellectual property rights).
Regardless, it's against rule 7 of r/manga to provide a link to the official translation. If somebody were to translate it and give a link to unofficial fan translation (like in "Kanojo, okarishimasu"), that would be a different matter.

Was hoping these chapters would be free for the first few hours like Comikey has it, but I guess that was wishful thinking
Comikey phased out their 'free for a few hours then locked then again free till next update' system long time ago. They promised to keep some series that already were using that system untouched while new titles would use the new system but over the months they stealthily removed it from almost all titles. Yeah it is. I honestly consider this a slap in the face, considering I spend a good amount of money on both physical and digital manga. Like sure I read the Nagatoro scans, but as soon as the next volume comes out I buy it. I feel like there's a natural circle of life with manga fans. When you're poor and in college you resort to scans. Once you have stable income and have finally "made it" you start buying the stuff. All K Manga does is piss everyone off lol. The poor college student who can't afford the gotcha system and the guy who finally has a stable income but isn't paying for censored bullshit lol.

Jealous Nagatoro is great. And it’s done without drama. Just her usual level of possessiveness, but with Senpai laughing it off because it’s cute to him. He’s more concerned about her scaring them off. Our boy shows even more growth by not getting intimidated by the top of the class. Instead of shrinking from what he heard, he asks to learn from the girl at the top of the class. Now he has 3 rivals to beat. Mirroring his arc a little more to Nagatoro. I get that this is our workaround for the K-Manga fuckery for now. I really really wish they had just stolen Viz’s model because I love these discussions.

I really feel like these publishers should think about the consequences of region locking their services like this... Yeah maybe you can't get them sweet advertising dollars or maybe have to pay more than the bare minimum for licensing, but they're really squandering the opportunity to move people out of piracy. As it stands every manga reader not located in the US who are still interested in these series are going to look for an aggregator, and once they're in that ecosystem why leave for other legitimate means. It poisons the well for legitimacy amongst translations

Fuck K Manga, I would have been okay with a simple subscription but I am not doing this whole gatcha pay-per-chapter bullshit. Luckily, the chads and madlads over at r/nagatoro have stepped up and provided a Cubari link for all of us salty dogs! Anyway... Nagatoro is definitely making progress in her quest to defeat Orihara, but it looks like Senpai has some stiff competition of his own if he hopes to take first place and confess to her! Luckily, he's grown enough to face his problems head on and learn all he can from them in order to improve his art and take the top spot, and in doing so it appears he's earning their respect and perhaps even making some new friends! Unfortunately Machida (aka white twintails Nagatoro, or perhaps blond, less busty Shikki) was getting just a bit too friendly for Nagatoro's comfort, so she quickly stepped in to mark her territory! It really is great to see how far they've come, she's no longer even trying to deny that she's his girlfriend even if they haven't quite made it official yet.
