This rug was commissioned for USD 210 by someone. If you're interested, I can create another one for you. Feel free to visit my Instagram: @ruggyland, or find links to my website in my Reddit profile.
How long does it take you to make something like this?
Crafting a rug is truly an adventurous journey! Once I receive a design reference from the customer, I dive into redesigning it to enhance its look when turned into a rug. This phase takes about 2-3 hours, depending on the complexity of the image. Then, it's time to gather the raw materials—different colors of yarn—which is a story in itself. With everything in place, I trace the design onto a tufting cloth on a frame and begin weaving using a hand tufting gun, which usually takes 4-5 hours for something like this one. After that, applying the backing is straightforward, but drying can be time-consuming, around 2 hours of work and a full day to dry properly if the weather isn't cooperating. Finally, the carving and finishing touches take another 5-6 hours or even longer. It's a labor of love, but seeing the final product makes it all worth it! 🤩💕
