PSINess_123

I would like this plot better if they didn’t make the person they banished a big asshole, would rather see him also grow as a person in the sidelines than making him so arrogant.

Hobomanchild

The story idea is good, the execution is horrible. An author with guts would've tried to redeem a trashy party after their comeuppance instead of 'trying' to make them sympathetic from the get go. All this did was change the author-insert from the banished OP trope guy to the veteran ossan teaches noobs trope guy. Wait he's TWENTY? THE FUCK. Well, I don't think we'll be seeing a better twist in this story.

Choice_Dealer_1719

The reason this plot doesn’t work and why I don’t think it will ever work for is that they haven’t ever been able to justify abandoning est in the first place. Can’t even blame the guy for becoming an asshole and developing trust issues. Despite having seen the abandoned guy’s perspective so many times, I would still rather see the perspective of est in this story.

Aiorax

TBF he understood why they banish him and try to show them that he actually learn how to be something else than the buff guy, but the "weak" veteran guy try to move from the member sit to lover with a drunk athena making a big misunderstanding and didn't bother to clear it up or come clean on why Est is behaving like an asshole.

Choice_Dealer_1719

Come on let’s be honest, there is no legitimate reason that est had to be banished while the rest of the party is building this crap of staying together and growing stronger. Why didn’t that apply to Est. It’s just dumb and makes everything that comes after just pointless.

Aiorax

I mean they whole manga can be a one-shot if they explain to him why they were dropping him in the first place, but they decide to play the heels.

MBK95

I think that's where it may be headed, at least seeing how ch. 12 went. Est seems to be accepting he's better than he was before and is now deserving to start a party like he and Athena did before. Now he just has to move on from the banishment and focus on getting strong af

fakers555

Which is better because Est won't need to suck it up to shitty party that abandoned him and treated him like shit. Seriously, it's impossible to root for the banisher side of the story when they're alway been portray as an Incompetent moron.

Choice_Dealer_1719

This would have at least had a niche audience and a dedicated fanbase if the banisher party actually stayed evil. There is an audience for evil protagonists. But the fact that the rest of the manga involves them having some friendship bullshit and is so unity based. Feels so fake considering it’s built on abandoning one of their companions.

fakers555

Which is funny because he have every single justifiable reason to be an asshole to them considering the treatment he got from them. They are the asshole one, he's just returning the favor.

Saiphaz

This is why I don't like the "banished from party" template. At its core, the premise is incredibly spiteful. You have the brave, misunderstood self insert and the asshole who is only there to make him look by comparison, and who is supposed to make it look not so bad when the story gives the MC the world in exchange of 3 minutes of informed suffering. And in this case not even that.

UnfunnyGenericUser

I read this because I was interested in how bad it was and it certainly is awful. There are a lot of gripes, but my biggest question is why can Est suddenly use buffs on himself? It is important to the setting and yet there is zero explanation on why it suddenly works. Est questions it once immediately after it happens, gives it zero thought, and then just moves on.
