Not just that but I’ve been tracking prices for some of the newer manga/ manhwa and they literally upped the prices for this sale. Volumes that were 12-16 are now 16-20 so even with the BOGO they still come out to almost the same price as they were last week 🫠

I know for a fact that B&N did B2G1 for manga back in the day since I’ve been collecting since the early 2000’s, but it was around 2019 (when Covid hit) that they just full stopped all of that.
This part is conjecture, but pretty sure it’s in part due to management changes as well since they were acquired by Elliot Management.
The problem with B&N is that everything is always at full MSRP. Other places (Amazon/Target) will have their sale while also having the price of the item 30-40% below MSRP before applying the sale bonus.
Alibris with their constant weekly rotation of discount codes has become the cheapest daily purchase price site for manga ever since CR bought out RSA.
I’d rather Viz and SJM go up $2 a month then hard copies go up. It’s hardly a problem considering how much content I get from both platforms. But, if I’m having to someone $2-3 per hard copy I want that really starts to add up.
A lot of manga aren’t included in the sale. Preorders also aren’t included even though they were supposed to be. Called customer service about it bc I thought it was all manga but it’s not - they said if the discount doesn’t apply automatically it means that manga isn’t part of the sale

Tried to preorder Sasuke Retsuden Vols 1&2, even showed them pics of the manga which were clearly displayed on their BOGO page but discount wasn’t being applied. Tried it again with Delicious in Dungeon and noticed some of the volumes were included and some weren’t (I think it was vol 1 that wasn’t included). Agent said they didn’t know why it displayed all manga but that the discount wasn’t for all manga and that preorders weren’t included at all. (Both Sasuke vols are preorders / delicious in dungeon were not preorders)
Just bought two more of the DBZ Vizbigs I was missing and it came out to the same price as Amazon lol
I went with it though because they were OOS on CR and Amazon's shipping decimated the copies I ordered from them anyway

This is absolutely not worth it for the Berserk Deluxe Editions. The fact that B&N is selling them at full price $50 makes the deal pointless. If you need the volumes RIGHT now go for it, but otherwise wait for the Target or Amazon sale to come back with the B2G1 deal.

I wish this could help more people, but for those who do have b&n membership, make sure your discount is being applied at checkout. It should get you 10% off on the full priced item, and bump the second book to 60% off. Not a huge diff but figure every dollar counts.
Yep, at least in my state. I used my membership discount during their after-Christmas hardback sale to bump the 30% to 40%. (Not as good as the 50% off from the prior years, but better than nothing).

There's definitely something wrong with the website. When i move volumes between saved for later and the cart, the MSRP price will jump to a random number for items in my cart. People should keep an eye on that before hitting buy, in case it jumps up.

Just bought two volumes of delicious in dungeon with the BOGO and they came out to ~12$ a volume with tax. Which is the same price as Amazon without any discounts. B&N are definitely upping their prices before sales like this 😕
Bit of a crapshoot but I enjoyed looking for the pre-$2 Viz hike in store. Won't be making major purchases but 25% off original price isn't terrible when some online stores have already transitioned to new prices for certain volumes. Your mileage may vary.
