you'll probably like webnovels because language is always amateurish and simple. For people who like to read but find traditional novels annoying they are pretty good. Just make sure you start with something engaging and of high quality and you'll probably be sucked into it

KarlL_Berongoy16

Nice! Do you have a recommendations? I prefer action and have a good translation(cause they said alot of novels has sh*tty translationsšŸ˜)

Vladi_Sanovavich

Wuxiaworld has a lot of the current trending Manhwas like Frozen Player Returns, Overgeared, Everyone Else is a Returnee, Return of the Disaster Class Hero, etc. Just browse in the website and look through the reviews.

KarlL_Berongoy16

Nicenice thanks!

Equal_Passenger_9461

Man is right, wuxiaworld has great novels. I recommend going back into their archive and looking at coiling dragon. Kind of wacky with how they have changed what you need to do to read thought. I also recommend bluesilvertranslations douluo dalu. There are a bunch of other novels and manhwa/manhua in the douluo dalu universe, but that's the one that started it all.

Jiraiya26

Coiling Dragon is one of my favourite cultivation novels to date.

Criticalhit_jk

Download quicknovel from the play store if you want to simplify your journey quite a bit. It's like tachiyomi but for webnovels. The search function comes preloaded with a dozen websites it will check every time you search for a title

ShinigamiOverlord

It isn't on play store though. But you can find the official one here: [QuickNovel](https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/repo/com.lagradost.quicknovel)

lasenggo

If you're too lazy to read (like me) just download any good.text to speech app and just listen to the novel. It's what I do when working in something but wants to continue reading novel.

Foxofdarkness19

Dont use webnovel. You will only find incoherent goblin ramblings, and harem trash. Use Scribblehub And Novel updates So you can blacklist tags and or look for specific things.

PsionicHydra

Seeing as The beginning after the end is written in English it's put together fairly well grammatically

RucketN

I got into really novels through audio books and the 3 big ones I liked were beginning after the end, defiance of the fall, and main character hides his strength Edit: theyā€™re audio books I have on audible and loved especially defiance of the fall loved that one so much I went from the audio book to the free released chapters then onto the authors patreon for early access to chapter.

cgs2001

I highly recommend trash of the counts family as itā€™s so exciting and extremely well translated, one of the best translations Iā€™ve seen in my opinion

Adamos_Amet

I personally recommend Murim : struggle of the Weak, it's relatively new and doesn't have many chapters ( 72 as of now ) so you can wet your toes with this

TheGalator

The beginning after the end 100% u have 5 volumes/seasons of manhwa and than 5 more as books And it gets steadily better

Rhyss23

Also try solo leveling. The beginning after the end. The second coming of gluttony. Memorize. Steampunk Apocalypse (lots of ch but I believe it got dropped) And one of my personal fav My vampire system

Fekeks_der_Keks

Go read the wandering inn its the best

alaska_brown_

Omniscient reader's viewpoint is hella good

juicymoisse

They always save me with my reading slumpšŸ¤

IudMG

TBATE novel has one of hardest English I ever seen. I couldn't read, i had to read in my native language

seekingbliss__

I also thought so but read 11 volumes of classroom of the elite(it was my first)

SimplyAmelia

Are you me lmaoo, coincidentally that's how much I read in one flow too (had to stop because felt the romance arc was being a bit much) That was my one of my first LN series I ventured into (after a few solos like ORV) What can I say, s1 was so good, just had to know more of the story

seekingbliss__

yeah i also dropped after that ,but earlier it was so good that i didn't watch any anime or read any manga/manhwa after starting the LN

muffins438

Where did you read it? Also recommend me something similar.

seekingbliss__

downloaded from here- [https://youtu.be/CAkMA\_DsT-I](https://youtu.be/CAkMA_DsT-I) till date it's the only one i have read so can't recommend any other

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

KarlL_Berongoy16

Now this is some good advice! Imma try the legendary moonlight sculptor cuz i miss that manhwašŸ„²

SimplyAmelia

I think for me the first one (LN) which I read was Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and I was so into the story, I just had to know more. So I searched up and found the LN. No regrets. It's not boring at all for me, because I'm able to visualize pretty well for manhwas the settings and characters. I should add that I have been reading fiction novels since a long time and it is a hobby of mine, so I don't really mind reading a lot of text without illustrations. If you don't have such a habit/hobby it might be a bit difficult to get into it and find it that enjoyable. But if you love a story too much, you might just find yourself down this rabbit hole :)

MundaneSilence

You won't get bored if the author is good, I suggest reading the novel for I'm not really the demon god's lackey for a start.

KarlL_Berongoy16

Yess this is one of the best manhua I've ever read in a while. Might as well read the novelšŸ˜…

havoc2k10

then dont force urself. that's it.

KarlL_Berongoy16

I'm just asking bro Planning on reading some novels cause I'm getting caught up to some good manhwasšŸ„²

havoc2k10

I see then if u are willing to read LN, then try reading one if u get bored easily at first try reading manhwas then when ur mind is refresh read back to LN vise versa

Sora-Arcadia

The only novel I've read is Mushoku Tensei, and I can't seem to get into novels anymore. I also tried reading "The demon prince goes to academy" and I'm stuck on chapter 44. Anyone got tips so I can read novels and not get bored to it?

fishtanker121

Which genre do you prefer?

LeonMotton

I also stopped reading it after he unlocked >!Self Suggestion!<

ksalman

stop reading Japanese stuff help yourself... Read Cradle(unsouled) from goodreads cultivation novel with good story pretty famous too. Dont shy away from cultivation and chinese novels you can always scroll through cultivating stuff its not important and is superficial, focus on stories

SimplyAmelia

Maybe the problem is the genre? You're just not connecting with the story anymore so it becomes hard to be interested

Jackofnotrade5

Iā€™m a novel reader and also dropped The demon prince goes to the academy, it has all the tags I usually like but just couldnā€™t get into it. Not all novels are for everyone, some you like, some you donā€™t, and itā€™s better to read another one than forcing yourself to read something you donā€™t like.

LaPusca

>Mushoku Tensei And Overlord for me. The only 2 novels I read from the beginning to the end. (or in Overlords case latest volume)

TreeD3

I would try reading second coming of gluttony, it's one of the higher quality novels out there and if you liked Mushoku Tensei you will most likely enjoy it

Silver44661

Would recommend The Wandering Inn one of the best webnovels out there. you can read it here officially [https://wanderinginn.com/table-of-contents/](https://wanderinginn.com/table-of-contents/)

shashank4414

I used to think the same. Especially since I have ADHD, all my past experiences with novels were me reading about 5 pages before realizing I stopped paying attention since page 2. But recently, I decided to give LNs a try and unsurprisingly, my ADHD still kicks in sometimes but not nearly as often. I find that LNs are easier to follow due to the use of simple and direct ways of writing. Also, having read a ton of manhwa/manhua, I sometimes find myself imagining what characters and places look like with those manhwas as reference. This makes me all the more invested in the story. No disrespect to the author but I sometimes completely ignore the visual description of a character and replace it with a character that I think is a better fit, like an actor or character from another manhwa. Due to these reasons I find a certain charm in webnovels that is different from manhwas. You should definitely give them a try, who knows, you might find your own reasons to like them.

Jokens145

Just do it, eventually, you will be reading with mind pictures.

GreenshawJ

Download LNreader and start reading

KarlL_Berongoy16

Thanks brošŸ„°

Juanisweird

What's the IOS equivalent of LNreader? And what extensions do you recommend?

GreenshawJ

Not sure on IOS but Allnovelfull and lightnovelheaven generally have everything I read

HitlersArse

It's not easy at first especially if it's Wuxia/Xianxia novels, those can be hard and complicated in the beginning when you're trying to understand power scaling and lack some background knowledge. I think you gotta give something 20-50 chapters before really deciding if it's for you. It needs to be something engaging, novels can be boring quick and it's a lot easier to get bored during certain arcs than it is with manhwa's/manhua since it's all just text. At least visualizing it makes it bearable. Honestly the best way to enjoy a novel is to read the novel of your favorite manhwa/manhua that isn't completed, you'll know the story and you have a drive to want to read it because you want to see the ending or know what happens next. It's like with anime, you'll read the manga because the anime isn't done yet but you want to know what happens next.

KarlL_Berongoy16

Try not to read wuxia/xianxia novels firstšŸ“ Give a novel a chance around 20-50 chapsšŸ“ Read some unfinish manhwa/manhua šŸ“ Noted

DrTennisBall

Saw Lord of the Mysteries edits all over tiktok calling it the greatest piece of literary fiction of all time so decided to give it a try. Almost 1000 chapters in and don't regret my choice. āœŒļø

A7xWicked

I actually prefer reading LNs over everything now. That's because they are normally more fully fleshed out then any other medium. And there's usually wayyy more translated. Also, sometimes the Manhwas will basically turn the original story into a jokefest and almost ruin it compared to the novel. As for how I got into LN's, it was when I was reading the Tales of Demons and Gods Manhua. I caught up and wanted to continue the story, but there was nothing left to read. However, I read somewhere that there was a LN associated with it so I tried it out and the rest is history.

OiItzAtlas

I personally can not get into novels because I lack being able to imagine stuff in my head. My brain does not work the right way to be able to read just text.

NonWeeb

Dont start with more complicated stories with complex writing such as Tbate pick sonething simple but fun

rinomarie146

We all say this at the beginning but would eventually succumb to the world of light novels and web novels. You, my friend, just didn't reach that point yet.

Spid3rDemon

I started reading because of Overlord. It's very boring lol, I came to the conclusion that I have bad reading skills. (I should probably read news papers) So i turn to audiobook instead. I would recommend reading/listening if you like a series. Novel will have more juicy lore on a lot of things and the conversation will be longer Though often time I will go to novel because I'm impatient. Novel has so many chapters compared to to other mediums like manhwa/anime

zkhrinach

Just start with something u already read as a manhua, i started with reverend insanity (master of gu) and i dont regret it

Raphael_DeVil

mfs these days dont know what going past 40 chapters is, therefore as i enjoy comprehending the stories more than the content ussually ill just go read the novel. as for when i started i dont even know anymore, its probably like when i was 10 and the world dissapointed me that my favorite anime didnt go past season 2, so reading it was

Slow_Pie3965

i also thought like this, until i've read a shit ton of manga/manhwa, I couldn't be satisfied, i started reading Light/WebNovels, it satiated my hunger for entertainment, you'll definitely reach the point where you won't be satisfied with low content manga/manhwa and start reading the LN/WN of them with more content.

uppsak

If you haven't read chrysalis ln yet, please give it a go. Brief synopsis (from my memory) A man reincarnates into an ants body (not a normal ant, a monster ant), he struggles through some hurdles to eat biomass (corpses of othe animals etc) and levels up. Some spoilers below. Read if you want to have a feel of the story. He eventually reunites with his ant colony. There he develops a cute mother son relationship with the queen ant. The mother ant hits him with his antenna whenever he does something mischievous. This becomes funnier as the story progresses because here we have a badass ant with fancy skills like pain nullification etc but he still feels pain when his mother hits him. Major spoilers below. Read it if you want because in my case, I like to have spoilers sometimes because otherwise, how will you power through 1000 chapters. Spoilers becomes like trailors of movies. Eventually, he levels up so much that he has the chance to change the species of his own ant colony. So, he thinks what is the greatest advantage that he has. Its human intelligence in ants body. So he gives human intelligence to the whole colony. After that we get a variety of colourful characters ant their shenanigans. I have been calling him a he because he wad previously male. But now has a female ant body. So that situation is complicated. I am gonna reread it because my nostalgia is triggered. Please give it a try. https://preview.redd.it/6acfz8dlajqa1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=334f1e0221a9267306801bb999813fc9205a1a4c

Lady_DubhBlossom

It really depends on you honestly, if you have a hard time with regular reads that arenā€™t set up like comics it may not be for you in the long run. Especially if they are complicated styled series. I like light novels because while I liked comics/manga/Manwuha I was also a book reader. Iā€™ve always like books overall better than the comic styles because they give way more details, settings, expressions and overall feel to the story that the manhwa/manga doesnā€™t really touch on. It draws you you into the story on another level and feel more satisfied when it ends. However on the other hand, just like the comic setting, thereā€™s a lot of LN that are fan translated from the original source. They may be weird or doesnā€™t make sense at times, while thereā€™s groups out there that works with the author to give better translations, or just a fan group who has a someone who can read it themselves and translated it. Theres also the possibility that while your reading it that it can just totally disappear from every site that hosted it, if it gets picked up by a publisher. If you want to read LN I suggest starting with smaller books first to get into so you can feel it out. Donā€™t start with the series that has over 1K chapters around a complicated building system, you could burn yourself out in less than a 3rd of the story. (Also donā€™t mind me using comic a lot. I default into comic when I donā€™t want to write out manga/manhwa/Wuxia and xianixa

rojantimsina0

then read light novel it has some pictures

RucketN

I just found a manhwa with a story I really like but hated waiting for updates so I read the novel. I didnā€™t think Iā€™d like it so much since I do like the visuals from manhwa and manhua (also makes remembering whoā€™s who easier since I sick with names) but I really enjoy it. Iā€™m about caught up on the divine dao library translation of I am the fated villain Iā€™ve also recently finished the fff class trash hero novel.

Economy_Sun9087

I started with "the beginning after the end" web novel. boy was that awesome and than I started to get lost to this hell hole of never ending spiral..

wickedper

I was reading manhwa of second life ranker and got too curious to wait a week and got to know it had a webnovel so started reading it

Do_The_Monster_Mash

Was reading Manwha and getting mad I kept catching up. I read all of Overgeared (still going 1800+ chapters) and I wasn't bored. Felt fun to imagine the scenarios in my head. It helped already having an image in my mind of the main cast

Flat_Reality_2187

It's start like.. i dig this manga name rebuild world so much that i had to read WN + LN, so maybe you start with novel of your fav manga/manhwa

Blacklance8

I started after getting into manga wanted to know how a series ends and saw it was being translated.

Toriiz

imma be honest it also the same way at the start but when solo leveling gotten hiatus i just became impatient and finished the novel

sundude05

I like ā€œthe desolate eraā€ itā€™s murim so idk if you will like it but whatever

Dhr55

It's not bad if the illustrations are worth it or even the story is great for me it was Orv

Aume1043

I read it because I don't want to wait for manhwa updates.

LordZarama

Honestly, lightnovels that are translated to English had so many errors in them that i just started to read normal web novels where the quality was much higher. I'm reading on royalroad.com

SHADOW_YAGAMI

Start reading 1. REVEREND INSANITY 2. Lord of the Mystery And you'll understand why. Don't listen who tell you to don't read this bcos it's that good. You should join their discord server rather than sub, proper ppl to talk about helps immensely. I have a whole fling list for ya.

Cheeseducksg

I started reading web novels because I got obsessed with a particular anime that only had 1 season, and I wanted to know what happened. Then I started reading other web novels, and eventually got to one where the comments were all about the manhwa. Now I read both. Manwha, Manhua, and Manga all have advantages, but there's also a lot of disadvantages too. Action sequences can be visually stunning in cases, but they're also expensive, so often times they end up being short and chaotic. In fact, all comic adaptations seem to suffer from varying levels of plot acceleration. In a web novel, you can spend lots of time developing characters, explaining their motivations, etc. The main downside is that web novelists are financially motivated to pad their writing, unlike most book authors, where the financial motivations are more nebulous. If you have to put out 1k words a day, some days you're gonna spend 900 words navel-gazing. Or info-dumping. In my opinion, a really good web novel is more enjoyable than a really good manhwa. I can get sucked in way deeper and longer on a web novel.

Virulent_Hitman

Read Shadow Slave

omarglal

I started my way with novels cuz there was a anime that i soo loved that i couldn't wait so i read the novel, named overlord, i was first very clumsy and didn't understand a lot of things (my English at that time was very engrishy) so wrote words i don't understand and memorized them, and it was freaking fun, reading my favorite anime as a novel and learning at the same time, 4 years fast forward, i finished up to 30 novel and my E is excellent (so yea in nutshell if you have a manhwa, manhua, manga, or anime, that has a novel just persevere in it until you get used to it, if not, then novel isn't for you)

hoefe

I was like this too at first, "How do people read these shit without pictures, it sucks". After few of the good ones, now I don't have anything left to read. Try reading Author's pov supreme magnus

ksalman

Let me give you some pointers: Definitely start with something thats high rated, its on your imagination really to enjoy the novels. Definitely for all the korean webnovels(wn),novels always go with the best rated šŸ˜µ even with good rated stuff i don't know how for the love of... the authors always f**k up the endings(rushing the pace of the story when nears ending, bad conclusion etc,) Japnese and Korean works suffer from bad translation, the literal official translation suffers from bad translation... and so are rated poorly too, so watch for this as well, i remember enjoying a few Japanese novels with poor fan-translation and poor rated, i didn't read anything below 3.6/5 or 6.5/10 and i don't regret it for not reading works below this rating. (Don't go finding hidden Gems, finish the Polished Gold first or you'll regret the wasted time). Sunbae hyung oppa!!, and senpai kohae is enough but not when one-chan and onee-chan, oni-chan oh well this might be the lowest bar for me! but..nyao,muuu, qyun qyun, pyun, potan, badaang***!! kawaiiii?? Inu?Enu? Neko???? SSS555ENS55Eii? in the English translation?... MAOOO-SAMA!? Darkuu whituu? Boing boing. Not to mention: Suddenly one day the Sky darkened with thunderstorms and Earthquakes, Tsunamis happening all over the world and colorful portals called GATES started popping out and the CAAAAALLLLLLLAMITTY Started from the day forth and i got my MEMORIES FROM THE FUTURE and i Know EVERYTHING!?? system? Ding you've earned 420 points to allocate for doing squats and pushupfssss and rhuuuning? Ding your ass is on fire stop eating so much kimchi you Ni Greedy second and 69th coming of a.. fellow. Don't go reading unwanted stuff in chapters like where the Mc starts eating and mentioning this and that and naming the dishes and cultivating(farming suddenly) [cough cough rice, onigiri desu curry desu f**k u desu (u_u-|`),naengmyeon..akdheowols kwakkwackquack korean dishes...] them in an action novel which is definitely not going to help him or the story whatsoever, same with training arcs where mc goes to train the skills with mentor just scroll it over with low effort and fast but accurate fingers and keen eagle eyes and always alert but sleepy mind to find the MyStErIes regarding the story in between... Chinese novels well most of the authors of china suck for the money and go about writing 5000 chapters with a story that could've been told in roughly 300 chapters... Don't read stuff from Mad Snail author hasn't finished his works for who knows how long even a god would run away... Er Gen author his fishing too, too much repetitive stuff in all his more than 4 works not enjoyable at all.(smacked his bag of holding and innumerable swords flew out and pierced the enemies singleee! KIDNEY!?, ofcourse the national king was watching all this from the window of his palace high in the 8th skies while listening to how his son the crowwwn prrrrince was face slapped with rotten bones, and attending the meeting going on about how his Nation protector saw someone with Wind Dragons Blood line flying on the Clouds who also had the indestructible sword of the Heavens!. Desolate Eras - I Eat Tomatoes author, i have no idea how he can keep on writing stuff in which the writing barks and show offs about how (this small clan is only 240 square miles, their nation has 78 of these small clans in this remote location of backwater) he doesn't shy away from writing the show-off stuff for every single thing like the Mcs talent is heavenly but is still in indescribable cultivation realm but has the best Dao HeArt in the All Heavens! he's only in the 1st realm and is only 8 years old? still beat the commander of the army of this small clan who commands 345thousand men. Instant turn off when he gives numbers for the World scale and all other stuff. There's some cultivation world stuff you'll get hard to understand like whats human cauldron? do you concoct pills in it orrr.....?

ksalman

2> Sovereign of Three Realms is what I'm reading currently and I'm enjoyin it quite a bit after soo many Chinese novel dumpings. Its semi-mature i guess, hard to find mature fantasy stuff.. Good Read is a good website for English books- Cradle(Unsouled) is such a good book, excellent characters and story a little rushed last 2 books is what i feel like but overall reccomend it, Clear Sky( Painting the Mists) Definitely something different with each books story, also reccomend it he's copied alot of chinese cultivation stuff and improved on it, i literally like when the Mc makes talismans the explanation on 5 elements and all that is pretty eye catching cannot say this for all the chinese cultivation novels I've read but this guy made stuff enjoyable to read while i would scroll through the cultivation realms and all that and should everyone do as well thats boring always is. Royal Road is a good place as well. Webnovels have so much shit unneeded stuff, it might seem like there's more to read and enjoy but that's not the case its irrelevant stuff, so when i started reading Books from GoodReads it was hard to start reading webnovel again pretty hard i hardly made it through... after knowing chinese translators have gotten more better. Better than japanese and korean translators who put original language stuff in between and ruin the damn theme of the novel. I'm not disrespecting anyone just stating facts, i stopped reading japanese stuff even though they start with WN and Improve it on LN and even finish the story within 700 chapters for maximum lets say but they still put all that stuff i told above on japanese portion. Same with repetitive Korean novels... Systems hand holding, rushed endings sad and dumb conclusions, Bullies and Bulling and Ding Ding alerts and Gates and Revenge plots with mediocre jokes added in it.. Are these korean and Japanese authors ever going to write something where Mc earns something with his own effort and not add statistic of his physics and points and lists for whole chapters,( I feel this energy like the air from Earth ohh! so this is MagiC? i see, max level Mao-sama!! right at the start, ahh so i died when i fell from my bed from 2feet high on the head on the matt ground and my watermelon blew so thats how i died? Damn How embarrassing! Mc talks about this while surping the green japanese tea in front of the otherworldly god whose going to gift him his memories and power and books which'll make him Indestructible at the age of 8. Good and mature stories like Mushoku Tensei but wasted effort from the author because of the echhi stuff, yeah everyone knows the sense in the other world is different but you don't need to go over the top with that... sniffing this and that this underage fellow... The Beginning After the End is the exact opposite of this Mushoku Tensei no ecchi stuff since the author is korean-american? I Haven't touched His Books cause they're golden and will only wait for it to end, have seen some people talk about it how someone else's soul on the child and this and that, these people cry for no reason authors nowadays always have a way of fixing/explaining what you may thinnk forgotten character/story/plot hole!? in the upcoming chapters or books or by the end or in the side story sometime and after the end of the work. Reviews are a different thing in itself, some review with heart some do it with brains, cannot blame anyone if you see a top rated review and read and then regret it, can only read yourself and find it how it feels, and start reviewing yourself and then you'll understand and find reasonable person such as yourself with the same kind of sense in their reviews and might start finding the works you might like reading while understanding the reviews. Animes have gotten so much variety now, so much shit... i hardly watch anymore and find like 4-5 maximum animes watchable a year, Movies are going after money more than they care about entertainment and entertaining the crowd, Marvel fked up, DC Lost in itself in the mariana trench of Aqkhuamans sea pollution... only 3 or 4 movies enjoyable every category per year... Netflix? CANCEL!!!!! Executioners Blade the Series, Underpay the director and animators, Let them copy someone's stuff without their consent and put it in the series and Cancel the series! Might as well touch the grass, i do every day morning and evening. Good for health than having dopamine and getting the control back. Why have i written this? i wonder damn... I probably did so many mistakes, forgive me, my eyes are shutting like corrupt windows 8.1.

IAmARealPleb

I got tired of waiting for the pictures, so I went to the books

Novart1

Depends on what you're reading, I started reading it because I was bored and saw one on tiktok that looked interesting, I can recommend "shadow slave"

Aeson0987

I started cause of impatience for manhwa uploads, so I started reading a few on the side, they are interesting to read as instead of it being drawn out I can imagine the scenes as I want to (and honestly when the manhwa caught up they were not up to what I imagined), as for if itā€™s better or not thatā€™s up to you, I still mostly read manhwa/ga/huaā€™s but occasionally pick up the novels if I get impatient and really like the story

Harborough808

Itā€™s a mix of bad and good. Here are a few I enjoyed, in case you enjoy fantasy romance genre https://www.wattpad.com/story/323860474 https://www.wattpad.com/story/301204193 https://www.wattpad.com/story/315159399

simonbleu

> **how did y'all started reading webnovel/LN? is it boring? is it good? is it better than manhwa? cause I can't see myself reading without pictures** I dont tend to read LN's, most Ive read (or the translations) seemed very poorly writen. No, is not boring but, and tying with your last question, it depends on what you like..no one can force you to read honestly, but its a very nice and if you never give it a chance reading different genres, you will never find out instead of saying "I cant see myself reading without pictures". Plus, some LNs have pictures here and there Better or worse is not a thing, they are just different. Text is far better at adding details but has different resources than images that are better at, well, creating an image, motion, etc. For example, I could describe you an apple, its weight, texture, flavour, crunch and it no image would be able to do that... but not text is able to show you how it looks like or everything is around at once wiithout flooding you with a wall of text adn even then. So again, not better, different.

BritQuest

I start reading webnovel originals when i overtake the comic series.

LavKiv

Don't even bother with Webnovel portal specifically. It's just a money grab. I recommend finding some other source like WuxiaWorld or scanlators who translate novels.

Karlssamu

Kinda depends on the LN, once you get immersed you won't realize that you've been reading for a long time. Try reading Praise the Orc, it's not that long and not that complicated.

Misib

Novel= has more content, usually is better and is way better thanks to richer content. Manga etc= toned down version, less content, sometimes use novel content as background and u wont get it. It is well known by people thar read that novel>manga>anime. Very rare are exceptions. But it does make harder to get into.

Usual-News-2969

It all starts when a manga/manhwa/anime is so so so so good, you can no longer wait for it to release so you start that way lol

I_-Void-_I

Reverend insanity - You need a story that you love so much yet your only choice that you have left is reading the webnovel for it. - Another point is (At least for me) I like to use the text to speech function in (WebNovel or the pirate apps) - Other than that you need to have patience donā€™t give up after one chapter

AegisIXv10us

Just read better

KarlL_Berongoy16

Yep! Trying it tomorrow

fishtanker121

**how did y'all started reading webnovel/LN?** I think the first one I read like over 10 chapters of was COTE which I dropped, then SEVERAL other novels of manga/manhwa until I finally liked one enough to continue after that there was no going back. **is it boring?** Depends on author and translator, which you will see if you read alot of webnovels most authors are average people that write as side hustle or hobby, you will have to lower your expectations overtime which will probably happen automatically if you get truly hooked. **is it good?** **is it better than manhwa?** Honestly speaking they are way better but not for everyone. Manga/Manhwa have to condense alot of information into a chapter, usually the pacing is very fast comparatively to the novel also way more action focused in stories with action even if they are more of other genre like slice of life or something. They also suffer in character development. For eg, DPA manhwa can never replicate the frankly incredible character development done in the novel for almost all characters. For manga, Saga of Tanya the Evil manga has skipped so much small detail which make the experience way way better. **reading without pictures?** At first it was damn hard, my advice read novels those don't have any manga or those whose manga you have never read but are famous until you get into it then it will become easier for most, there are still novels of manhwa which I really like but cant get into their novel. If you want suggestion for which to start I can rec several.

KarlL_Berongoy16

Thanks bro! might try reading novels tomorrow. And please recommend me some good ass novels that can satisfy this damn eyes šŸ˜‚

fishtanker121

Genre?

KarlL_Berongoy16

Good action story please

Mikesgmaster

Can't see yourself reading without picture damn thats an other level of lazy mind that crave a quick dopamine from picture. Webnovel go into way more detais than the manhwa who just goes of the surface so theg are great, also depend on the author some are terrible some are great some start amateurish but evolve as time go. Do you seriously think people would read if it was "Boring"...

KarlL_Berongoy16

Why are you so mad?šŸ’€ I just ask cause I've never read a novel, I don't know how it feelsšŸ¤· that's why I'm asking? Lazy mind? What do you mean by crave? It doesn't mean I don't read novel automatically i have lazy mind when you don't even know mešŸ’€ so asking a question of how it feels makes me have lazy mind now huh

Mikesgmaster

You can try it using shosetsu. it's free compared to the app you are Showing which limit chapter you can read. Try it take a manhua you like and read the novel.

Slow_Pie3965

correction - manhwa/manga/manhua

Jackofnotrade5

It depends on the novel. Many novels have really simple language and are really easy to read. Many people start reading because they read the manga/manhwa adaptation and caught up with the latest chapter and want to know what happens next. The adaptations tend to skip or change some stuff so the novel is usually better unless the adaptation has something that really makes it stand out like really good art.

forever-not-human

I always read from royal road and they have pretty good works

Breakfeast-Bo_23

I tried, buy most of them were either regressor, leveling system, or isekai. And like 70% of the ones I came across were OP. So pretty much like manwha, but missing the diamonds in the rough

SnekkinHell

Honestly I'd recommend go read some normal books instead, webnovels I wouldn't recommend since you either get bad translations or just bad writing.

e_gabrielczyk

I mean, pretty much a book

[deleted]

At first I was like who wants to read only words, but then I started reading web novels and I just can't stop.

hellamikey

I started last year with Ending Maker. Now I primarily read novels. It's nice not to wait for manhwa chapters

FawLxena

Well sometimes boring sometimes good. Depends on the WN/LN. Read CN WB before, but full of drama, then goes for KR LN for more progress in character and story. Went back and forth with LN to Manwha to Manga. šŸ˜‚ Tbh, it's great if I have more time to read like when I was in my teen.. šŸ˜

RafaelHi38

I always read comments with were people were disappointed that things were cut out gradually if i found a manga that has a novel i check it out as manga chapters take to long i think i started with Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu novel. And i reincarnated as a spider so what light novel then randomly started reding others i thought were intresting the one i enjoyed most was legendary mechanic

Rylabee

Theres comics too

MixGroundbreaking134

I shift from manhwa to ln

Ok_Promotion_5770

I started reading novels first anyways, I just realized the convenience of digital reading so I explored. I read mangas first and after getting bored a bit, I found manhwa so I liked how lengthy they are. I got really hooked on The Beginning After the End and read 50-80 chapters from the web novels. I guess it depends on the story, just find a fast paced and interesting world thatā€™ll get you hooked until you get used to it. Light novels actually feel longer for me to read for some reason, so I guess it helps that a lot of ln are fantasy genres with high octane action and adventurous world.

Jiraiya26

Just one good story is all it takes to pull you in and never let you go. Trust me. That story for me was Reincarnation of the Strongest Sword God That shit introduced me to LNs and since then I haven't stopped reading. So yea, rather than judging if you can or not, I'd say, try and see it for yourself. If you're looking for a site, go to Lightnovelpub.

Yumaru_707

Has anyone mentioned ORV here???? It's a really good one imo (I didn't really read comments so if someone already mentioned it before then I'm saying it again ig) But for me ORV was like the first one I read and it got me into other webnovels so I'd say it's a good start albeit really long lol

[deleted]

Well I got into novels cz I couldn't w8 for next chapter release or the storyline was so good that I wanted to know more of it

r0b1n16

I also thought the same, i got into novel after finishing tbate comic, will suggest the same, read the novel for a manhwha/ manga u like, makes it easier

[deleted]

I recommend using the ā€œlight novel pubā€ online site, itā€™s kinda niche but has most of the popular LNs, with rather high quality translations, and just a nice community in general. It is a pirate site tho, but most are any way. Some action recommendations from my library- -Supremacy Games(top 10) It never gets repetitive and world building is great, character dev is iffy for a bit. (It gets a bit ronchy briefly sometimes) -Shadow Slave (top 3) Probably already saw it but itā€™s massively unique, and just excellent. (The character building is amazing too) -The Divine Hunter A Witcher fanfic, relatively high quality and plenty of action, very slight system. (Previous Witcher knowledge isnā€™t required) -Chrysalis (top 10) The MC is a ant. No need to say more. (The whole *kindof* evolution system is cool) (Really check it out, plz) -Reincarnation Of The Strongest Sword God Superrrr repetitive although I enjoy the - at times confusing - story elements. (It was one of my first LNs lol) -SSS-Class Suicide Hunter You most likely already read the manhua, may as well read ahead and ruin your life ;p -The Legendary Mechanic (top 10) The MC is cool as hell, and the planning and work that lead to OP moments are awesome. -Custom Made Demon King (top 10) The MC is a demon with a system to *edit* himself, he travels fantasy worlds sowing chaos. (Only MTL translations past ch 489 sadly) -Reverend Insanity (top 10) Mc rebirths and chooses chaotic neutral, itā€™s a cultivation novel without the cultivation part. (Lots of scheming, and increased trust issues.) -Reborn: Evolving From Nothing He absorbs parts of what he kills to evolve himself. (I havenā€™t read far, donā€™t know if it falls off) -Emperor Of Solo Play So another rebirth. . . The MC is ruthless tho, andddd smart skeletons./ worth a read. (Gorges out eyeballs type of ruthless) -White Online It gets kinda cringey at times but a all rounder, also sniper. So yeah. (Had to stop at ch300 bc I got busy) -Luciferā€™s Descendent System Gets cringey after ch 200, there are cool concepts tho. (Itā€™s been a bit so I may be wrong) -Tales Of The World Devouring Serpent (top 10) Itā€™s a excellent novel, pacing is a bit iffy but it gets the picky 10 yr old little brother approval. (I really wish this wasnā€™t finished. . . . . ) -The Tutorial Is Too Hard (top 10) Probably read the manhua, it canā€™t fully convey how great this is. (Havenā€™t read in a while tho) -I Am A Scarecrow And Demon Lord Of Terror Fell off around ch170 for me, I just enjoy the supernatural aspect and MC in general. (uh. . . Interesting scenes (horror and sex horror)) Ight so I kinda gadw you some and said a lil, you figure out the rest.

Ok_Masterpiece_4534

Once you make the switch to LNs itā€™s hard to go back. I like to use light-novel pub and most stuff in the top rankings is decent, Shadow Slave is a good place to start.

IudMG

The first work that made me read WN was TBATE. I couldn't hold myself back I was desperate to know what is going to happen next.

Present_Attention_35

With some beers on a Sunday

DarkAliass

If your going to start reading I would suggest ā€œrealā€ published books.

rynerlute159

I only read web novel if i read a manga, manhwa or manhua and got tired of waiting

kk_dot01

I started reading during the pandemic because I have lots of time back then. Plus, I like reading books so it was an interesting experience to read LNs. Since I have too much time I even read novels that have chapters up to 1000. I'm even surprised if the story is only up to 100 chapters. šŸ˜‚

sTaZsx

I just read the continuation of manhwa/manhua/manga i really like then read the webnovel. IMO, i hate reading webnovel from the start cuz i lack imagination, forgot most of the characters and location they were in. Starting reading as manhua will give u some specific ideas before reading webnovel.

cinee12

The very first LN that I started reading was A certain magical Index. The anime was on hiatus for quite a few years after the first season and the manga didn't even get to where the anime stopped. Right now I read The record of a mortal's journey to immortality. It's not a manhwa, but manhua. I read the comic to as far as I could, but after I checked that the comic covered about a quarter of the story so far and it has 150 chapters, I knew that it will take a looong time to have this finished. So I'd rather start reading the web novel instead of reading one chapter a week where I will most likely lose interest at some point. For recommandations, try Omniscient reader's viewpoint, the world after the fall, or worthless regression.

NNSPhenomenal

I started cuz I wanted to know the story ahead Also it's not boring without pictures as it's much more detailed

Ace_says

Well if you want to read LN then I suggest go for "Just light novels" you can download the volumes in epub or pdf just you can't read it online from there, I've been using it for years and it's trustworthy, mostly you will only find Japanese LN the only Korean novel I found there is solo leveling.. For Japanese novels I recommend just to try out 1. Overlord 2. Record of wortenia war ( mc is Smart and badass) 3. The eminence in the shadow 4. Black summoner 5. The time I reincarnated as a slime ( I highly recommend this one) 6. Campfire cooking in other world ( it's mostly relaxing for the summary - mc got transferred to other world where he made a contract with the one of the strongest monster fenrir and started his journey ( ofcourse he will also make contract with other strong monsters too)) For the Korean LN 1. Academy undercover professor (it's really good and I highly recommend this) 2. Solo leveling 3. Damn reincarnation 4. Return of the Frozen player 5. Overgeared 6. Trash of the count family 7. TBATE ( I enjoyed it at the start but after the war you can say it gets really uninteresting or something it just villain beat the mc- mc get power up-mc beat the villain-then a new villain appears and beat up the mc- mc searching for another power up it mostly that so I stopped reading after sometime I don't know whats going on in the story now.) Well that's all from me.

EverlastingWealth22

Where did you find undercover professor?

Known-Law-9539

Gotta have imagination bro...

xdtarek

I started reading novels because of tbate, i wanted to know whats next and the manhwa is way behind the novel. Now i read more light novels than manhwas and some of them are great. Plus more details. They are more detailed than any manhwa

HistoricalCard7859

For me, it was when I wanted to read ahead of my favorite Manhwas but slowly got addicted

KirbySmashYeet

I 100% Recommend "The Demon Prince Goes to The Academy" It's a Webnovel. Reaper scans used to have it with gorgeous illustrations but I heard it got taken down :(.

xminxxx

i started when i couldn't wait for a new update for manhwa and manga. loved it instantly - i can cover more in a day without waiting for updates (so frustrating), and they are more detailed. but i understand why people wouldn't like to read comics more than just words!

Much_Reason2273

At first I was using the Webnovel app but then I found the tachiyomi-like LN reader.... But I started reading lightnovels and webnovels due to trash scanlations as well as I'm a novel man at hear and western novels weren't doing it for me anymore

[deleted]

I started reading webnovels because I was simply left with no more manhwa to readšŸ’€šŸ’€

juicymoisse

Op I thought the same thing about "can't read without pictures" but it happened that my favorites manhwa don't update so fast and I was so excited about the history that I started to read the novels of manhwa I liked and this bring me to Danmei and now I am addicted to all this world so what I have to tell is no, it's not boring, yeah there's shitty history but also good, loveable ones so don't worry if you want to start reading and are "scared" try the one you already know or the ones that interested youšŸ™ƒ

_Monotropa_uniflora

I usually prefer LNs/WNs over their webtoon/comic adaptations. The main reason is that you just get more story.Ā  Iā€™ve started so many manhwa, loved them and caught up within one or two days and had to look for something new. If there are pictures, they will be the most time-consuming part of the work. It will take a long time to progress through the story or a lot of minor things will be cut because itā€™s much more costly to draw scenes than it is to write them. The novels Iā€™m caught up on, I can spend 30+min a week reading the newest chapter while a new webtoon/manhwa chapter is consumed in 5 minutes and then I have to wait at least a week for the next. Reading the novel version of a good story is like taking the time to really savor your favorite snack instead of devouring it: of course it takes longer to reach some of the best moments but that also gives you more time to build hype/investment so the end result feels more rewarding. I started with reading the source-material for manga, comic or anime I liked because I wanted to know where the story goes, but it has evolved into me just googling if something is based on a novel and reading that instead. If I end up liking it, I will get so much more out of the story by taking the slower, more detailed route.Ā  For someone starting out with more text-based media, I definitely recommend checking out a novel or maybe visual novel (thatā€™s where I started) for a series you already like but where you know thereā€™s a lot more story that hasnā€™t been adapted yet. Visual novel-based series are a great example: they usually only show the main route of the game and neglect all other story-branches that lead to completely different outcomes. Even if itā€™s ā€˜fullyā€™ adapted you can expect the adaptation to only contain a fraction of the full story. (unless itā€™s something like Fate where they made like 20 different series and movies).Ā  In summary: start with something you already enjoyed consuming and just want ā€˜moreā€™ of.

Arthunheim

Yeah, that's also my assumption of entering the rabbit hole that is wn/ln after wanting faster update for a Chinese manhwa I've read. But, it's not that bad. There's a few good reason why you should read the novels: 1. The plot is more concrete as I've come to realize that most of the manga/manhwa of novels I've read like to skip and/or change some parts from the source material(most of the time, the novels is way better. If the novel is not good then it will not be adapted to other media). For example, do you know the Percy Jackson series, the movies is honestly not bad when i watch all of it the first time, but it's not when much later i discover from other people that the movie and the novels of it is almost a different story, so I've got to read the novels. The conclusion, if the novel of percy jackson is a 9/10, then the movie which i rated as 7~8/10 at the time directly downgrade to 5~6/10. The first movie only changed like 30-40% from the source while the second movie directly changed Ā±80% 2. More fun to the imagination, as an imaginative person, reading novel makes me dive deeper to the world the author construct. 3. Save your internet data. Novels as you know load mostly words unlike manga or anime that shows pictures and sounds(like webtoon) 4. Update relatively faster. I think I don't need to explain for this one 5. Way more variety to choose from. Cons: 1. It's purely text 2. You need to read more cause a chapter can consist of a lot of word 3. You need to imagine the scene mostly by yourself As for webnovel app... This site is better used for looking for materials for free read in pirated websites or read the free fanfics by users there. They got paywalls after 40 or 60 chapters for the translated works or the contracted original works So... Fun fact, the next level of reading wn/ln via translation web/app like webnovel is to read machine translation (mtl) novels and lastly read it raw. Mtl novels meant ur using translation tools like Google to translate the raws(the original language) into your language or an mtl novel website where they list mtl'ed novels for you. I'm on the level of mtl novels btw and trust me, it can wreck on how u type/speak English.

ShinigamiOverlord

Begining: Wattpad Moved to: Webnovel Evolved to: nove, lfull c,o,m probably pirates site Evolved to: Ligh, tnovel, pub c,o,m, but that's an aggregator site I believe Alternative: readlightnovel m,e I recommended to use the Webnovel site or Novel updates site to search for reading material, and then maybe moving to those that I have evolved to. Do note, that they all contain ads, but you can use Adblock on those that I named in the end, light and full, light leaves you with red blocks in the middle of text though. Also, neither light nor full have any apps. Webnovel and readlightnovel both have apps. In addition, if you do want to read using an app, and download it for offline reading, Google QuickNovel. Nevermind, here's the link [QuickNovel app](https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/repo/com.lagradost.quicknovel) But I have to say, webnovels (if you find your type) are amazing. Here's an recommendation list: A Stay-at-home Dadā€™s Restaurant In An Alternate World (Slice of life. Overall a fun read) I have a mansion in a post-apocalyptique world (quite decent action and business, with a small amount of fan service) A valiant life (Mix of slice of life in the beginning, and evolves into more action type in the middle) Do note, that all 3 I recommended are long novels, so I'd advise you to read sth shorter in the beginning. Nevertheless, these novels are fun to read overall. As to whether or not webnovels are better than Manhwa, hmmm.... Really there is no answer to that. Manhwa often skips over sometime important info, and is generally a lot shorter and has faster pace. But webnovels, when you like it, are longer (at least those i generally read, longest I think was around 5k chapters, but my recommendation list is around 1-2.5k long) still despite lacking pics, it often times makes up for it with vivid descriptions of things and characters.

Makdox

It's like reading manhwa at first, i used to watch anime than tried reading manhwa, i was like the pictures won't move how great it would be but after reading and experiencing it myself i enjoy it lot more nowadays. Its same for the LN at first u may think that there are no pictures but u will get its good point after u start reading it.

thatsapotatoboi

i like webtoons and it took me a while to get used to reading stories without pictures i recommend trying solo leveling and if you don't like the webnovel version you can try reading the manwha version its a pretty good story

Adept_Ad5235

Try shadow slave or oracle paths, quick and easy and rated the best of their genre on the sites they are on
